Although the seedy and threadbare building it replaced had overflowing charm and charisma, the recent Wawa now situated in the Dinky train station on the PU campus is one of the nicest Wawa's you'll ever visit. Gleaming and modern, this is a gas-free location (unless you order the breakfast burrito) and has ordering kiosks at every turn. If it were my decision this location would definitely be showcased in all of their corporate videos. It figures that the shortest scheduled train route in the country (Princeton proper to Princeton Junction) gets a multi-million dollar make-over but Newark Penn and New York Penn remain chronic eyesores and legendary hellscapes. Coming from the west coast, I've only heard of the legendary stories of going to the wonderland that is Wawa. Upon finally going to one, I'd say the legends are true. For a convenience store, it really does have everything. Its selection of hot and cold items, all made-to-order from an iPad, makes for a quick and easy experience, all at your fingertips. My go-to is the pepperoni hoagies and occasionally a mac n cheese. I've tried some of their seasonal Thanksgiving/holiday sides which were pretty good as well. I've always known this location to be clean with quick and friendly service. It's also conveniently located at the Princeton station which makes for a nice food stop or bathroom break. Wow!!!! This was the nicest Wawa I have ever been to! What a difference from the old Wawa it used to be. Located at the train station at Princeton University I'm Alexander Street. Good size parking lot although it is metered. A quarter will buy you like 12 minutes . A Bus also stops there ( not sure which one) Outside is modern Inside is clean . Decorated with Princeton banners . Staff at register ( Roberto) and the girls behind the food counters worked fast to get customers in and out. This is the cleanest Wawa I have ever been to. The sandwich makers were all accommodating and kept things flowing all while having pleasant banter with guests. The cashier was super friendly. I usually dont find humor in my convenient store visits. I usually just get hoagies, chips, Tastycake then I'm out. But she made me laugh. I got their famous mint chocolate chip Wawa Ice cream. Italian hoagie, Herrs Honey BBQ chips which are impossible to find and a soda. All shelves were stocked, the prices are always right and the customer service was superb. I always stop here after a show at McCarter so I can have some grub for that long Train trip back to New York. Very, very clean and well stocked Wawa and the workers are very friendly. This is for the WaWa on the Princeton University campus. This store is a basic decent convenience store that is a little cleaner than the typical convenience store. It has the usual prepared items you'd fine at a 7-11. It also has some basic grocery items like bread and milk. The staff is friendly and helpful. The staff is also often busy because there is so much foot traffic. I wish they carried even more grocery type of items since there is no other store in the immediate area that carries grocery items. I'm not in the area often but will come back if I need to and am nearby. read more

I was expecting the gas station, and was surprised to find this modern silver building near the Princeton University bus station. I parked in the customer parking lot and ordered a breakfast burrito (ham, cheese, egg, salsa), as well as an organic coffee. Wawa has been a replacement for a fast food restaurant for my family for years. My parents have always preferred their hoagies and sandwiches since I can remember and I have learned to love and eat sandwiches from Wawa to the point where I can't eat any other sandwich from anywhere else. As much as I love Wawa, I wanted to see what really makes the experience worth it. Wawas are very convenient. They serve as a convenience store and might be accompanied by gas pumps if you need to pump gas for your car. Entering you have little tablet screens that guide you on what kinds of options you have and make it fairly easy to order. From there you get a ticket, go to the cash register to pay for your meal or anything else you might have got, to then wait for the number on your ticket to be called when your food is done. During this trip I got a small, simple Italian hoagie with lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes, and oregano. I also got a side of chicken noodle soup. Very simple and safe. The price was fair, the waiting didn't take very long. It took me at most five minutes to get in and out of the Wawa. Eating the sandwich at home, the sandwich was very fresh. You can hear and taste the crispness and the freshness. The color of the vegetables were very lively and vibrant and you could definitely taste it. The soup I ate was very comforting. It had everything you could think a chicken noodle soup should be. Never once did I want to stop eating nor was I disappointed. The adorably decrepit 1960's era Wawa has been replaced with a state of the art shiny black imperial looking building with spotless modern bathrooms and a soda machine with like 137 choices. There is currently a team of hot construction workers across the street who saunter in around 11:50 to order lunch. If you want some eye candy with your candy. Wawa sandwiches are a staple in every New Jersey native's life. This Wawa probably has a computer sandwich ordering system that reads your mind. Wawa, everyone's greatest love. Where else do I go for coffee at 6am to fuel the last stretch of my all-nighters, or for 4am food when I am hungry and no other doors open to me. I like the Wa's coffee, as any good New Jerseyan does (Starbucks carries too much of a stigma). The cheap snacks and sodas are great too. Hoagies, as it should go without saying, are often the lifesaver of students- whether after midnight or during holiday breaks. So some fun facts; the building the new Wawa is currently in, was actually built entirely with university money, and is given to the Wawa to use, as they serve as a service to university students. The uni installed a $100k+ green roof on this Wawa and I'm pretty sure the building is LEED Silver, if not better (source: took a campus architecture class; caveat: could misremember some of the facts) read more

The new Wawa... just not the same. Biggest change, no hot dogs after 11PM. wTF?! Definitely losing a star for that. I had to settle for a made to order chicken cheesesteak and chocolate covered donut. Both pretty good by the way. The new space is bigger and brighter, but loses some of the charm of the original. The nice outdoor seating is a plus and offers a place to sit and chow down on all the quality food you just purchased. And there's a Dyson Airblade in the bathroom to dry your hands! In many ways I grew up here. Not on campus but the actual store. On a recent revisit after a year away time was tight and I was starving so I ordered off the hot food menu. Two minutes before the train was about to depart I returned the ticket explaining I had to catch my ride out to sadly embark back towards the city. A minute and a half later one of the employees sprinted out and found me on the train to hand deliver me my order and then departed before I even had a real chance for a thank you. Makes sense since right as she stepped off the doors closed and we left the station. I never EVER write reviews for food service, not when the food is subpar, not when the wait time is atrociously long, ever (because those things can be out of their control). I'm also not the kind of person to confront rudeness with rudeness by calling someone out and causing a scene in person. The workers who make their food now on the night shift were so nasty, though, that I'll make an exception for them. Without getting into specifics, they bitched about a reasonable dinner order of three items being "too much" (clearly they haven't faced the 2am weekend lines of college students) with a lot of sandwich toppings (as if that was unreasonable at a place with free toppings) and were chatting blatantly about how they should just not do the order since the customer wouldn't even know - IN FRONT OF THE CUSTOMER. The store wasn't even busy, so why get bitchy over an order that pays your paycheck? And why would you ever talk shit in front of the customer? People say to judge someone's character by the way they treat those in customer service, but I can't help but judge the character of people in customer service by the way they treat their customers. Who doesn't love wawa? The coffee here is great and plenty of creamer options. The staff is very good at refilling the coffee as well and making sure the coffee station is kept clean which I really appreciate. I have tried their sandwiches and mashed potatoes plenty of times and they never disappoint! In fact, they have never messed up my order in all these years. It can get busy but it's never too long of a wait and if you order through their app, that should save you time. Their bathrooms are really clean especially considering how many people go there. They also have good deals on snacks. It's definitely one of the best Wawas in the area!
