Please open a store in south FL! This is THE BEST grocery store I've ever seen. It's like a souped up Trader Joes mixed with Whole Foods. They have a huge bakery section where they bake fresh breads everyday. Why would anyone ever shop anywhere else????? Wegman's is the perfect combo of high-quality groceries, fabulous variety, great prices, excellent customer service and happy employees. Let's start with wines and liquor. Lots of varieties from around the world, and local - including craft liquor, beer, ale and ciders! There are employees who can help you find just what you need. As for groceries, the Wegman's brand never disappoints and seems to be more reasonably priced than other supermarkets. Is the produce a bit more expensive? Yes, but it is so fresh that it will last twice as long as others and the freshness shows in the taste - aka, well worth the prices. They also have an abundance of organics in produce, meat and groceries. Looking for something from lands far away? Check out the "International Section" and/or the well-stocked deli counter! Need kosher? They've got it! How about some specialty cheese? Yup! Ask for a taste if you're undecided. Butcher? Check! And they will do a specialty cut if you need one (like my spatchcocked turkey for Thanksgiving). Look for samples of their products on weekends :) Wegman's is a no-brainer. This store is a good substitute for those of us who try to avoid WFM. This is a mostly conventional grocery store, but they are constantly enlarging their natural and organic selection. Fresh food departments here are very good, better than most national chains. The seafood, bakery, and produce departments are excellent. You will find very fresh local seafood and produce here when in season. You will not find all the major brands of packaged and or processed foods, but instead more of Wegmans private label which is usually very good. I highly recommend the liquor store. The selection is not huge but is comprehensive, and the prices are the lowest in the area. read more

Wegmans is a real cool supermarket near Princeton. They had awesome crab cakes, which some buddies and I took home to cook. At $8 a piece, they were a little steep, but they were super good. Lots of crab and with a little macaroni salad on the side and some chips, the dinner was amazing. They had a ton of fresh seafood as well, plus they have a solid liquor store off to the side. I love this supermarket, they have items no other supermarket carry. However the management staff are awful. If you don't know where something is located, they will tell you they don't have it. Instead of showing you wear it's located. This has happened to me 3 different times. The latest 3 days ago. I found what I was looking and the had plenty. I stopped in to pick up a few cupcakes after work. The designs looked great and there were many interesting flavors I wanted to try. I had waited for awhile and no one helped me. I assumed the person helping other customers before me was only helping out the customers purchasing bread. I picked out the Boston cream, pumpkin, and strawberry and cream cupcakes. All of them had an outstanding design, but sadly all tasted bad. At $3 a cupcake, I was not pleased. Salad bar is one of the best in the area. Loaded with organic fruits and vegetables. My favorite grocery store in New Jersey...no, anywhere! Period. They have mastered the trifecta of retail business almost perfectly: (1) a huge selection of high quality, organic and vegan options, in addition to conventional groceries and prepared foods; (2) impeccable customer service with friendly, courteous, responsive staff who are always eager to help or find someone to help if they aren't sure; (3) very competitive prices...well except for the delicious hot foods bar and the yummy cookies they bake on site, which are overpriced but irresistible. Otherwise, they have consistently lower prices than their competitors in the area on all the products I routinely purchase. Somehow, they manage to be consistently awesome year after year. "Wegmans - - When you care enough to spend the very most." Gotta love a grocery store that has 1961 1st growth Bordeaux's in their wine shop(pe). Great cheese shop(pe) as well, and their pizza, while not exactly Delorenzo's, is a far cry better than many of the "stand alones" in the area. The rest of the place is great (for the most part) as well; Their patisserie is just about as good as you'd find in Paris, with prices to match (if you're inclined, try the Shop Right in Montgomery, a hidden gem for their dessert offerings). This review is actually about their bakery. Try as I might to find better local offerings from small specialty bakers, all under the auspices of doing what's right locally (think Village Bakery in Lawrenceville or The Witherspoon Bread Company in Princeton, two companies not afraid to charge $$$), I can't find any locals whose offerings come close to the quality of Wegmans. Regrettably. Maybe its the expensive custom-made Spanish bread oven they installed. Whatever, the stuff's incomparable. Their Rosemary / Olive Oil loaf is just about perfect. A staple in our household, its quality is consistently of the very highest calibre and never disappoints family and guests alike. Crisp, crunchy (yet slightly buttery) crust with heavenly light, fragrant bread. Their baguettes and batards are killer, and their cheese bread verges on porn. Sure, it all resides at the top end of the pricing ladder, but don't mistake that for a lack of value. More than well worth their exalted asking price(s). Let this be a cautionary tale to you independent / specialty business people out there; I'm pro-local and a rabid supporter of entrepreneurial enterprise. To that end, I don't want to like Wegmans as much as I do, but I simply can't improve upon many if not most of their specialty offerings. If one is to compete successfully on the free and open market in the 21st century, it would behoove that specialist to ferret out the best offerings in their intended class and improve upon their competition. To my palate, none of the local Mercer County bakers approach Wegmans diversity of offerings and quality, and I'm sure as hell not driving to Philly or Manhattan for a loaf of bread. What other grocery store do you know of that has mass amounts of already-prepared and yet incredibly-fresh items to take home and eat, a drool-worthy chinese buffet section (THE WOKERY -- I love saying it), a decently priced coffee stand, a huge upstairs seating area, an inexpensive and comprehensive beer and wine store, organic produce, store brand products you actually want to eat/use, a bakery with every kind of pastry, dessert and type of bread you could wish for, WITH, to top it all off, a friendly and helpful staff? My only complaint is that I'll go in to buy eggs and emerge three hours later, a dazed look on my face as I push a giraffe, a shrubbery and a balloon shaped like a pizza back to my car. read more

I love Wegmans but I'm subtracting one star because it isn't open 24 hours like Wegmans stores in their hometown of Rochester, New York, which is where I'm from. The store is close to a friend's apartment, which she, a fellow Rochestarian, could not be more happy about since she just moved to the area. This store seems to maintain the Wegmans quality standard that is the reason people love it. A bonus for me is that Mallomars are a lot cheaper in this area. I am a fan of the Wegman's. PROS: Huge selection of just about everything. Ethnic section carrying Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Mexican, Indian, Thai. Not a huge amount of it, but it's a place to start without having to make a second stop somewhere. The Wegman's brand is excellent and priced low. Fairly large section of organic and natural products, including a huge tea selection and selection of nut butters. Huge cheese, caviar, and meat areas, and gigantic bakery that makes your normal doughnuts, breads, and cakes as well as some fairly fancy desserts for special occasions. Pizza shop, wing stop, submarine shop, fresh sushi, hot Chinese food bar. The spiced oil used on the subs is DIVINE. Huge seafood department and area of prepared foods. Attached wine/ liquor store. Very clean. CONS: Can be INSANELY crowded, especially during lunchtime, when people get off from work at night, and on the weekends. If you're there while it's crowded, be prepared to get stuck in the aisles and wait for a while- particularly in produce, meat, and the bakery areas. read more

When we first moved to the area, I really wasn't on board with this place. It's so massive that just walking from the produce section to the other end of the store takes a good couple minutes, and the dark-brown decor always made me feel like I'd stepped into the 1970's. But I gave it a few more chances and my opinion these days has completely turned around - it's now our default grocery store. They have a huge selection of choices for every kind of food, and the pre-made and bakery food is improbably excellent (how can it be that the best doughnut I've ever had comes from a grocery store bakery?). The number of departments in the store truly boggles the mind: standard stuff like produce, meat, dairy, dry goods, but there are also several aisles of kitchen utensils and appliances; a coffee bar; a pizza counter; a bakery; a cookie shop; a sushi bar; an Indian and Asian food buffet; a home-cooked meal section where you can order vegetables, meatloaf, mashed potatoes, etc. There are a bunch of tricks I've learned about Wegmans that have made shopping here much more pleasant: - Download the Wegmans iPhone app and load your shopping list into it. You can create a weekly shopping list there and copy it to a new list every week, where you can add the things you happen to need right at that moment. - If you use the Wegmans app, the shopping list section will group your items by aisle - brilliant! - Try to shop in the morning before lunch or in the evening after 6 to avoid crowds. The produce section is in the best shape in the early morning. Weekend afternoons are the worst time to shop here - it's almost impossible to move a cart through the store. - Like Target, Wegmans excels at making you buy more than you planned. Often, a $9 bag of organic grapes will be next to a $3 bag of conventional grapes. If organic is important to you, go for it, but if it's not, it's very easy to grab the higher-priced option because of the way they lay out the store. Going in with a shopping list and checking prices is crucial. - Pharmacy and home goods prices are really, really, really good. I used to go to CVS for things like sunscreen, paper towels, etc., but Wegmans' prices on these things are lower than CVS, lower than Target, lower than Stop n Shop. read more

Curse NJ highways. Curse NJ highways with copious stoplights and no left or u-turns, with horribly dangerous situations where people are turning right at 15 mph and people in the middle and left lane are going 50. You are the reason I missed the entrance to Whole Foods and decided it wasn't worth the 20 minutes it would take to loop back around. But I guess thanks to the horrible situation mentioned above, I turned off at the next exit and happened upon Wegmans, a worthy alternative. I discovered about 5 new types of apples (you mean there's more than fuji and gala?). Tons of fresh produce and healthy foods at a reasonable price. The only problem I saw was tons of empty produce bins. I guess they switch things out around 9 pm - bad for me but good for everyone else who doesn't shop at weird hours. Definitely will be back, though hopefully to a more convenient location that is not off the dreaded 1. read more

I love Wegmans. Like, love love LOVE. The pastries, the prepared foods, the olive bar, the ethnic food selection, the organic selection, the meat selection; what's NOT to love really? I go shopping at night. They close at midnight every night, and this eliminates the lines and the crowds, which is great for me. One of my favorite finds here are the pre-seasoned chicken breasts, which can be found also in a club pack for added savings. It's taking the guesswork out of what to make since the chicken breast is already portioned and seasoned, and they have them in organic, too. Will be a Wegman's shopper for life! read more

wegmans is pretty much the perfect grocery store. no, seriously. it's the best compromise between shoprite and whole foods- wegmans gives you a ton of natural/ organic/ vegan options like whole foods, along with the usual suspects you'd find at shoprite. . oh, and their prices are comparable to shoprite, so you're not handing over your whole paycheck for foodstuffs. the section of ethnic goods is awesome- they have lots of packaged goods and spices that are hard to find elsewhere the way they package meat is handy (vacuum sealed individual chicken breasts, etc), and there are cleaned/trimmed packaged vegetables... because i'm too lazy to do it myself sometimes. or all of the times. the bread. it is awesome. mmm carbs. they have tons of fun cheese options which make putting together a cheese plate lots of fun. oh, and olives/ hummus/ roasted pepper/ pickled stuffs too. oh, and they have wine to go with that cheese. lots of it. spread throughout the store (and there's a full wine/beer/liquor store attached). there's tea too. lots of it- one of the best grocery selections i've seen. they have large and small carts. i love small shopping carts. this matters. the prepared foods are awesome. they're a good choice for lunch when the lines are long at panera. there's a seating area upstairs, and they often offer and cook specials outside on the grill. the sushi ain't half bad either- they have brown rice and even soy paper or cucumber-wrapped rolls for the carb-conscious eaters. they have a pharmacy and OTC drugstore/makeup/toiletries section too. in the middle of the store, there's a kitchen gadget section with uh, gadgets for the kitchen. and plates (not just paper/plastic, but real people plates) and serveware and wine glasses and silverware and accessiories... and seasonal items too. behind all that is a gifts / cards/ book section. and it ain't small. and flowers. there are flowers and they are pretty. am i missing anything? oh, they have bathrooms too. and a small choochoo train that runs on a track hanging from the ceiling. see, pretty much perfect. ... so what's not to love? (aka why they aren't all the way perfect): -- occasional inconsistency. they run out of stuff a lot at this location. a few weeks ago, they were out of red onions. and organic boneless chicken breasts. no bueno. -- the cake. the cake options in the baking department are limited for a grocery store, which is a disappointment when you need a last-minute cake pick-up and there's no legit bakery in the immediate vicinity. ps- i'd urge you to stay away on the weekends. the place gets insanely crowded, the produce section gets messy, and folks tend to let their kids run around, "navigate" carts, and scream at the top of their lungs. ugh. read more

Great supermarket. Fresh food, great selections, and many items on sale!! I love the food court here. Fresh and SUPER YUMMY AND AWESOME SUSHI; great food items from the prepared food section,and the submarine sandwiches are sooo good! The pizza and the chinese food here are also very delicious. This is a great spot to come during lunch time since you can get whatever you want to eat and eat it right upstairs in their beautiful cafe..the soda machine is right over there, and they provide cups for water and napkins too. The prepared foods section has especially decreased in variety, and quality. Their sandwiches and parfaits in particular look sloppy, cheap, and just gross. And what happened to the expansive candy bar? Now it's a tiny alcove with few desirable candies. The grocery section is still up to par, but the produce department needs help. Ah Wegmans, how I love thee. This location is dangerously close to my house as I LOVE their to-go foods and desserts. Wegmans is wonderful for so many reasons but I will try to name a few; baked goods (Pumpkin roll, Sour cream cookies, breads, vanilla cake, chocolate cake, red velvet cake), Wokery (Sesame Chicken, Jasmine Rice, cashew chicken), Sandwich Station (all hoagies on delicious bread), Sushi (Spicy Crab), bagels and spreads, pre-made salads (Chickpea salad). Wow, kind of strange I haven't written a review for Wegmans yet, since I find myself here about three times a week either to grab lunch or pick up a few groceries. In the million times I've been here, I've never had a bad experience. Staff is always over the top friendly, nice and helpful. The Cafe It's awesome. For lunch (or dinner) your options are the Chinese food bar, gourmet sandwiches or standard subs on Wegmans delicious, fresh baked breads, salads that they whip up for you based on your selection of ingredients, an assortment of hot meals that changes each day, sushi, smoothies, and I'm sure some other things I'm missing. Always delish, if not sometimes a little overpriced. The Grocery Store I've never done a full out grocery shopping here but I can say that the meat and fish counters are really nice, the produce is always beautiful and they carry a nice selection of groceries including many natural/organic options. Liquor Store I went in here for the first time recently and picked up a bottle of organic white wine from Italy. I was very hesitant to try it because I have not had luck with organic wines in the past, but this was an excellent selection. Wegmans has my favorite submarine sandwich anywhere in the world. It's called the Danny's favorite, and it's essentially an Italian sub with an extra kick of spice (I think they use hot Capocolla). I'm not sure how they make the bread either, but it's perfect. It has a really good sesame-flavor to it. The price on a whole sub is great. 6.99, and it's more than I can finish in one sitting. On a side note, I'd like to watch Danny beat the shit out of skinny-ass-Subway-Jared. Besides that, this place has a very good food court, and a great selection of high-end foods. We grew up in western NY and have shopped at Weggies forever. We were so happy when they expanded to NJ that we would drive by the construction site a bit too frequently (!) waiting for this mecca of all things food and more to open. Now, a few years later, Wegmans continues to shine! Yep, it's a zoo on many weekends and any day before a holiday, but who cares when you love something as much as we love Wegmans?! Absolutely love wegmans -- am so excited to have one in NJ. As a grocery store they have always had everything I needed but this specific review is for party planning: Cake: Hands down the best grocery store made cake I have ever had (as compared to SuperFresh, Acme, McCaffreys) -- My favorite is the double layer chocolate cake with raspberry filling -- At $16 for a round cake that "feeds" 8 but is actually enough to feed 16 -- I no longer look anywhere else but Wegmans for parties. Flowers: Also hands down the best flower arrangements at decent prices I have seen in the princeton area. Always has an assortment of bouquets from $8-$20 and with really good taste in terms of arrangement and color choice. Coffee: Furthermore, they have excellent coffee and good variety -- though I always go for the house blend. Always hot and always there. Since that time I have developed somewhat of a friendship with workers in many departments and look forward to talking to while my wife and I shop. Found a package of bacon the seal was broken so the meat was going grayish green. Took it over to deli dept right next to the area since I didn't see anyone where I was. Deli dept told me it's not their department and I can't give it to them or leave it with them. I refused to search the store for another employee and left the package with her and didn't look back as she headed back to where the bacon was with that package. I am not on the Wegmans bandwagon. First of all, it's way too expensive for some of the most basic things. Also, I feel like the lay out is backwards and not at all intuitive. It makes finding what you need difficult, unless you're a Wegmans' regular. The aisles seem very narrow to me, and I often feel like I'm about to have a claustrophobia episode - shoppers seem ruder than at other supermarkets somehow, and will not hesitate to block you or even just push through. My only reason for giving them 2 stars instead of 1 is because the prepared food can be a yummy, quick way to grab something to eat. Again, pretty pricey, though. read more

Great liquor store. Especially strong selection of Bordeaux. I come here chiefly for the prepared foods. The best choice is probably their subs. My standby? 14-inch Danny's Favorite on wheat. Lettuce-tomato-onion. Mayo, spicy mustard. Bit of submarine dressing. Pepperjack (not listed on the menu!). The Chinese/Indian (occasionally Thai?) food bar is decent. I enjoy the tandoori chicken and the chickpea masala in particular. Not too many green vegetables to choose from. They've also got pizza and a deli counter which, although cheap, is really not very good (I've tried the pulled pork and lemon chicken six-dollar meals). Wegman's is OK, but I'm not nearly the fanatic that others appear to be. To me it's just a big grocery store with nicer decor and a nice food court. My problem is, the prices are comparable some stuff, but WAY more for certain other things. I'm sure this is deliberate. Deodorant, $1 more, ice cream, $1 more, razors, $3 more. On top of that, the high-end appearance is only skin deep. The fancy cheese department, while I appreciate some more interesting selections available, they wrapped my piece of Cypress Grove Humbuldt Fog in plastic wrap. No self-respective cheese shop wraps your fine cheese in plastic wrap. And what's with no self-checkout? EVERYBODY has this now. I'm not feeling the Wegman's love. read more

Hitting the prepared foods section for lunch is always a treat. My favorites personally are the seasonal salad bar, which hosts items germane to the time of year. For example, fresh greens and BBQ items frequent the salad bar during the summer months. It's nice that the staff there changes it up, so that there's always something new to try. There's also a bomb sandwich station, pizza, fried foods, sushi, a cafe with delicious, buttery pastries, and ready-made items, if you're in a hurry. The staff that prepares and serves the food are friendly and work quickly, so be prepared to make your order and allow for the people behind you to do the same. People have to get back to work! Unfortunately, the cashiers are not all as friendly. The fountain soda machines were replaced about a year or so ago with Coca-Cola Freestyle machines that allow you to mix up your flavors. This is awesome, except that for some reason, all Freestyle machines make regular Coke taste funny (kind of spicy, like pepper or something... I'm still trying to put my finger on it). Poor quality food. The beef was chewy, the vegetables tasteless, about six serving containers were empty. We will never come here for the buffet. I never would have thought to review a supermarket until I moved to an area that has a Wegmans. The supermarkets I grew up with (Pathmark, Waldbaums) were quite mediocre and somewhat sad looking places. Actually they still are; I often feel like I'm in an 80's time capsule when I go home for visits. With that context in mind, stepping into Wegmans has always refreshing, enlightening, exciting....you get the picture. What I love is the selection of produce, quality of fresh herbs, the olive bar, the international foods section, and the private label (Wegmans brand) products. So they do push their branded products a lot, but their stuff is priced well and comparable, if not better than the name brand products. High marks go to the coffee (French roast), their versions of breakfast cereals, and the canned soups. I was also very impressed with their prosciutto and their own lines of cheese (creamy brie...Mmmm). If 'm not in the mood to cook I head to Wegmans for their old fashioned subs. They also make excellent salads (love the homemade croutons in the caesar salad. Yumz). Some of the items in this section of the store are a bit pricey, but I think it's a worthy splurge because most everything is pretty darn tasty. Finally, the Wine & Spirits shop is the best I've ever seen. Trying out new beers and wines is always a treat. A few months ago they started checking ID's of everyone in a group, which seems really strict, so be aware. I've seen college age shoppers unable to complete their purchases due to one person being underage or not having ID. read more

LOVE. Great service, helpful staff and cashiers, fresh meats and produce, super value on Wegmans' brand, awesome breads, pastries, cheese selection... wine/booze prices have come down and now this is my go-to market. When hurricane Sandy hit, Wegmans let all of us locals hang out in their cafeteria for a few days and use their power, charge phones, work on computers.... they are caring, kind members of the community. read more

I like their foreign/International section, it includes Asian, Hispanic and even Jewish products. I specifically go there for the 75 cent Goya soda bottles, and Japanese noodles. Besides the international section, there's an expansive produce section, it's literally the first thing you see when you come in the store. Their Organic/Fitness section is one of my personal favorites because it has anything from juices, candy bars to even personal hygiene products. Overall this store is good, oh and check out their Prepared Food Section, you'll definitely want to order something when you don't feel like cooking at home. read more

I was forewarned that this was like a supermarket on steroids... Currently in love with their diet cherry wedge--grapefruit+cherry soda. Seriously, I was just happy to find a grocery store near downtown Princeton. Con: It's not within walking distance of downtown Princeton Pros: It has anything I might need which justifies a car trip, including Chili Garlic Sauce, organic foods, drugstore items, and Diet Cherry Wedge. I've boycotted Whole Foods because service is frustrating (notwithstanding the horrendous pricing), so this is a fine alternative for when I do need to pick up a car full of anything. Latest problem: I can't find it. The GPS drops me off at Home Depot instead, so I get more lightbulbs. Bad TomTom! read more
