My wife and I were excited to check it out after all the hype but we were very disappointed, overall. We had just left a medical appointment for her and I was hungry, so I grabbed some grub at the Thai bar of the Market Cafe and we went outside to sit in their outdoors seating area before shopping. I got some of the Pad Thai with chicken, a piece of Thai Fried Fish (lemon something or other) and a small piece of the Thai BBQ Pork.
The pork was amazing, as I knew it would be from the moment I tried to grasp the nugget with the tongs and it literally fell apart due to the relatively light force I applied. Sadly, that was the last thing I selected rather than the first. It was, however, the first thing I tasted, and I found it delectable and worth lingering over before I tried the Pad Thai.
The Pad Thai was bar none the worst Thai I have ever tasted, and, perhaps, the worst noodle dish I ever tried, aside from canned chicken noodle soup. Alas, the reason I tried any of the food at Wegman's for lunch before shopping was this dish and it was *ahem* the least tasty noodle dish I ever tasted. Flavorless, limp, overcooked, a total waste of money and I threw 98% of it (and about 90% of my lunch!) out in the Wegman's trash.
The fried fish filet (Thai Lemon ????) was pretty boring by New England standards - if you had to have some fried fish and you found yourself there, it might have been ok, but if you any other choice or a modicum of patience, well, you'd be better served just about anywhere in Massachusetts.
After that experience, my wife and I trudged through the store, battled through the elderly ranks of rude shoppers who think they're the only people on the planet, and decided that we would never visit the place again because: their prepared foods were worse than anything we'd ever tried at any "comparable" grocery stores (though we're sure if we frequented places we don't that this would not necessarily be the case); their prices for comparable items were, well, pretty much comparable, depending on how you timed your purchases, and that they had a poor selection of products that were clearly marked as to origin and quality, and when they were marked, their prices were hardly competitive. Overall, a big waste of time and we would not go out of our way to shop there for anything. How sad!
