I was so excited to try out a DoorDash delivery from Wegmans sub shop seeing as I'm a frequent shopper of the grocery store via Instacart. I'm sadly disappointed; it took over an hour for them to make my sub! The dasher kept me updated and he arrived at the shop within 15 minutes of the order being placed. It was taking so long that I almost cancelled the order but decided to complete the order since I was starving. Their meatball sub arrived cold with congealed cheese and the sub was missing the marinara sauce; after the meatballs, the marinara sauce is the star of the sandwich!! In general I really like this Wegmans, the customer service is great, especially the cashiers at the coffee cafe. My issue is the salad bar is gone and the only available food in the current hot bar are very unhealthy, mostly fried choices. As a result I mostly have been going to Whole Foods, 2 miles away. Currently on a project in Montvale, NJ so my food options are very limited compared to being in bigger cities. Thankfully, we were able to discover that there is a decent market nearby our hotel with some food options - Wegmans Wegmans to the NE is like Whole Foods / Lunds & Byerlys to the Midwest. It is a huge market with all the typical items. The review will cover the "To-Go / Buffet" that is near the entrance and check-out lines Thoughts... - Good selection covering different cuisines and types (e.g. Asian, Italian, American, Salad Bar) - Prices are reasonable as I typically pay $9-10 for a decently filled to-go box - Sushi stand is a differentiation and fairly good for being locally made at the market itself. The sushi rolls are 3/5 and sashimi are at least 3.25/5 The only suggestion I would make is to change up the food selection every now and then. I have been grabbing dinner at the Wegmans for the last 5-6 weeks and the options have been the same... Was so excited to hear of this supermarket coming to the area, as we had slim pickings prior. Always clean & bright. Very nice sized produce dept but buyer beware- read your labels. More & more items from foreign countries at top prices, while our farmers are starving. You are paying top dollar for produce that looks wonderful- just don't eat it! To make a general term for what I've experienced, everything tastes like a cucumber- nothing has taste anymore. The fruit is tasteless. Not saying it's the stores fault per se, but this is what we have come to today in this country. Pay top dollar for tasteless food. As of late they only sell avocados from Peru, sometimes Chile (like most they have to offer) and they never get soft once brought home- they just rot. Very large selection of many products, which is nice. I find it hard to get olive oil being 100% from Italy but Wegmans has their own brand which I buy often. It's very tasty. Purchasing the store brand certainly saves some money but everything is quite expensive- much more than ShopRite. When busy you'll be bumping carts with many which is frequently. I only shop here for certain items I can't get elsewhere. I'm starting to go to local farms to get food that has taste. I do love their fish counter, as everything is super fresh. I have has issue with the bags of mussels as they are frequently broken which means they must be thrown away. Meat selection is decent but much more than Uncle G's whose meat is far superior in taste & texture. What is a plus is the liquor store is attached, so I don't have to make another trip elsewhere. And on the seventh day ... Behold ... Wegmans appeared ... and all who came were pleased ... and they pronounced it ... GOOD! I have so waited for this day ... because this is the only market that has always been a perfect 10 in my world (or 5 if you Yelp) ... and now I have one in my backyard (sort of). Everything for everyone ... and lots of it ... at reasonable prices. The employees sport a genuine smile ... you know the kind ... like they really like their jobs and customer service matters. Opening day plus two ... and I saw enough employee hugging, back slapping and friendly banter to wonder whether I accidentally stumbled into some sort of revival meeting or AA. ;) I'm pleasantly surprised to find pricing remains better than most area supermarkets and the quality is top shelf ... the way I've always found it to be at their other stores I've frequented over the years. Wegmans even stocks Burgundy truffles ... my favorite fungus in the world ... which conjured mushrooming adventures from my youth. I bought some for nostalgia reasons ... and now my mind is ablaze with recipes. Wegmans has always moved (occasionally shoved) me towards food adventures and today is more of the same. Sooo I cannot tell Yelp how excited I was when Wegmans opened in this part of time! I used to shop at the original one and I just love the quality of food. Shopping here is quite the experience. I try to stay conscious of the food I bring home and ingest and therefore going to a supermarket that provides products from local farms is important to me. We are supporting local farms and getting good quality delicious organic food. The hot bar is amazing, it's a great place to grab a bite or if you are not able to make dinner, you can get a great meal for the family. Their wings are the best in the area! They have a massive Wine and Liquors annex as well that is fully stocked with your regular commercial brands but also artisan wine and liquors and craft beers so you can everything you need in one place as far as food and wine is concerned. My wife and I first heard about Wegmans about five years ago. I was told by a co-worker that it was similar to other gourmet grocery chains such as Whole Foods or Trader Joe's, but better than all of them. Curious, we decided to take a drive out to the closest one to us in Montvale, New Jersey. This location opened in September 2017 and is 108,000 square feet. We were floored! It had to have been the nicest grocery store we have ever seen. They had a huge selection of fresh produce, gourmet cheeses, quality meats & fish, artisanal baked goods, etc. We were equally impressed by the adjoining liquor store (with an excellent selection of wines and craft beer) as well as their Burger Bar and Market Café. Our only disappointment was that there wasn't one in Connecticut, but it was just announced this week that our state's first Wegmans location will be coming soon to Norwalk. We can't wait! Even chilled options in the back section. The only down side was that the "local" section was really small and disappointing. Wegmans never disappoints, especially when compared to other supermarkets. I usually go to this location on Monday or Tuesday to avoid the weekend rush. The store always operates like they are anticipating a full rush of customers, even on the weeknights. The produce and shelves are fully stocked, and employees are always finding ways to improve your experience. Plus, the employees are happy to help. Ten times better than Whole Foods for SURE. Having one 20 mins away isn't as convenient as having a Whole Foods 10 mins away, but for the extra drive for better quality items? Absolutely. This store is huge compared to the Whole Foods I go to at the Bergen Town Center. The vegetables and fruits are much fresher than the ones at Whole Foods and there were more selections from what I can see. The bakery department was mouth watering delicious just looking at the selections they have. The deli and the fish section were much more organized and the food to go was way cleaner than what I've seen at Whole Foods. The section to sit down and eat is away from the shopping, which make sense, and not at the end of the registers like Whole Foods. Call me bias but I would come to Wegmans all the time to shop if the stores were right next to each other. Although Whole Foods is probably fresher, considering all the food goes bad after like 2 days of purchase, Wegman items last longer which helps with my meal preps. 4.5 stars Wegmans is like a wider variety option Kings. Few pros and cons. They have our favorites such as, party size pretzel mix, specific brand lactose free milk, and Ferrara espresso ground. Wegman brand handsoap in small dispenser is also very cheap (cents)! They have vegetarian friendly sushi rolls and raw vegetable patties for your cooking. They have great prices for fresh juice, and our current favorite is their lemonade. The orange juice is more on the tart side compared to Whole Foods. Some qualms I have are the prices of their baked goods. Also, as much as nice and helpful their associates are, it's very difficult to find them unless you go up front to checkout area. Wegman's Montvale continues to engage in illicit price scamming and price gouging, where one price shows for the store location online as the selling price, but is totally different (and, of course, higher!) when you get to the checkout line. This AM, for example, Wegman's brand "Not from Concentrate" Pulp-Free Orange Juice/59 oz. size showed at $2.79 at 6:25am and again at 6:48am on Wegman's website for Montvale. After getting to the store around 7:20am, the actual selling price was .50 higher at $3.29! Now, checking online again, Wegman's depicts the in-store price at $2.89! But they don't honor the online prices consumers see, just the gouged, bait and switch prices they charge at the store. Another scam this Wegman's runs is illegal manufacturer's coupon double-billing, where Wegman's initially takes off the coupon value at the register, but then adds it right back to the receipt if you're buying additional items! Most customers would likely miss this, but the only way around it, if you must shop at this horrid, price-scamming store, is to close the transaction after each coupon purchase, so that the re-charge--which only occurs if you're buying other things--does not occur! Meanwhile, while Wegman's negates the coupon on multiple item purchases, stealing the value of the coupon from unknowing customers, it nevertheless receives coupon reimbursement payment from the manufacturer as if the customer had gotten their money back! Behind all the hype, customers do not deserve to be price-scammed, defrauded and taken advantage of by Wegman's! read more

A review on the Wegmans hot bar and allergies- We decided to try Wegmans hot bar recently. We're vegans and saw vegan marked spring rolls on their hot bar. We grabbed a few, paid, and when taking a bite at home realized they were certainly not vegetable rolls. We called, no one called back. We went in the next day and brought in the rolls only to be informed that they were probably pork rolls and not chicken rolls. This had been the first time I consumed any form of pork in my life as I also keep kosher. The worst part of this all is their reaction. They refunded us, gave us new vegetable spring rolls (weren't that great) and someone from corporate called us. When we spoke to them and explained everything we got nothing. What a pathetic response for such a huge chain. For my friends in Texas: this is a hybrid between HEB and Central Market. For the rest of you: think Whole Foods with some Sprouts or Publix thrown in. This store is the bomb. Most impressive for me is the produce section. Count them ... five varieties of eggplant! Plus every green, orange or red you'd ever want. And everything seemed fresh. Kudos to the produce manager here. Though I didn't make a purchase, the fresh meat section was also nice, with plenty of selection, and people who seemed to know their products. Same with the bakers and cheese folks (and Wegman's has plenty to offer in both departments). Unlike HEB and other finer regional stores in my experience, the Wegman's house brand seems to be a helluva lot cheaper than the national brand counterparts, with no discernible difference in quality. (Sorry, HEB. I still love you.) There is very little to -not- like about this store. One of the coolest things is the attached liquor store. For those of you in the other 49 states, New Jersey has this thing about liquor licenses ... Watch The Godfather or The Sopranos, and you'll get a picture of what I'm talking about. It's inconvenient, crooked and downright wrong, but the residents here seem to tolerate it. So be it. But, I digress... After slowly watching DePiero's farm flattened to nothing, I was resentful of what was going to be popping up in its place. My kids observed the orchard trees being knocked down and we had lengthy conversations about farming and supporting our farmers. It was heartbreaking, to be honest, and it took quite awhile to come around to the idea of a strip mall going up instead. Over the months of construction it was becoming clear that the essence of farming was going to be preserved. Once the signs came up we started to look into this phenomenon that is Wegman's and has been "a thing" in upstate New York. On opening day, I will admit I was a bit excited and hopeful. Little did I know just how much my family and I would fall in love with this place. It had everything that we enjoy shopping for. The staff is friendly and helpful, and look like they actually enjoy their jobs. The place is always immaculate and no detail was left undone. The flow and design of product placement along with grouping makes it easy to find everything you need to make the perfect pot roast along with the crockpot to cook it in. They are constantly regrouping to keep up with the holidays and events, which I especially appreciate as a busy mom of four boys. Who has time to search up and down every aisle just to get everything you need for Easter Sunday? or the basics for a tuna sandwich or BBQ? It's also very convenient that the wine is connected to the store. It really makes for a one-stop shop. Their Family Value bargains make it so that we don't even have to go to BJ's anymore for bulk items such as water and basic staples. It's been painful to step inside Acme again; it smells like bad seafood and very dated from the second you walk in. One of the coolest parts of this store is their app that you can download. Our family can share the grocery list so the hubby can't say he can't find a certain brand of edamame that I need, I can add it to the list in real time as he's shopping and he can instantly see it AND it will tell what aisle to find it in. Awesome! It also adds up your entire list so you can easily see what your bill is going to be, so if I send my college kid to the store, I know how much money to give him and how much change I'll get back-- which is very useful if you operate on a budget. They also have the coolest Cookie and pastry bar, which my family loves. Also, their Hot Bar which serves up chefs specials, Asian, vegan, American, cold foods, antipasti, gluten-free, and salad options. Our family is not vegan or gluten-free, but as a nutritionist, they carry a plethora of options for those on special diets and take great care in how they display them in regards to other foods. This gets an A++. I love their business model as well, they seem to treat their employees fairly and their farming methods and contributions to the community are also worthy of applause. They are a big company, but it seems well managed and I do not get the corporate feel...ever. What can I say, our family is obsessed with this place! But don't forget to support your local farms and get seeds and seasonal produce from the original DePieros located on summit road. They are kind and humble and still have the best produce prices in most cases. I was so excited when I heard Wegmans was coming to Montvale. Finally one close by, then a year ago just as they started construction my company moved right across the street! Even closer than I thought. I have enjoyed going here 2x a week since they have opened. I have tried a bunch of the Wegmans brand items and have been very impressed with them like the Greek yogurt for 69 cents, can't beat that! I run over well actually drive over at lunch and man does their hot bar, deli and burger bar get busy! I have only tried the pizza which I enjoyed and will try more in the future. The produce dept is big and fresh! Cookies and muffins from bakery also are yummy! Some prices are higher than other grocery stores but some are better. You just have to know your prices. read more

Now that this Wegmans is open, it's the closest Wegmans to where I live. I am definitely a fan, having lived in Wegmans central in WNY prior to moving to CT, and let me tell you, it's worth the 45 minute drive and $4.75 toll for me to drive here. Sure, it's a little steep and time consuming for super frequent trips, but there's a lot of stuff worth stocking up on. They have great prices on their store brand stuff (like coconut milk, crackers, soups, oatmeal, preserves, and I could go on and on....) They have really high quality meat, produce, and deli. Their bakery section R U L E S. Cakes, pies, bread, cookies ... so much yummy! It also has a nice large prepared foods section. I almost went for some of that nice delicious Wegmans Asian Food bar, but I decided to get a chicken finger sub instead, just to remind me of good ol Buffalo. Compared to other Wegmanses that I've been to, I was a tiny bit disappointed in the "Make your own meal" selection, it was a lot smaller than I've seen it at other Wegmans. One of the best supermarkets I've been to. They have solid prices on their Wegmans branded items and a majority of it tastes way better than store brand items. My favorite has got to be the mushroom and mozzarella ravioli - this is bomb.com. They also have a great cheese and meat section if you're feeling classy enough to craft your own charcuterie board! I used to really enjoy their sushi as well, but lately they haven't been making some of the fancier rolls. I used to always go for their rainbow rolls, but they only put out basic rolls now. I am so excited to have a Wegmans relatively close to me. Despite the 25 minute drive from my house, I will still do all of my grocery shopping here! This Wegmans is massive and I mean MASSIVE! The first time I went I spent more time roaming around in awe than actually shopping. Everything you can possible think of is here. That recipe you've wanted to make but it has random foreign ingredients, Wegmans has your back! Here is what you need to know: besides that fact that this place is massive, they also have a large section for everything, which includes a huge dessert section, seafood section, meats, kosher, cheeses, and most importantly, salad bars and prepared foods. Any time I go to Wegmans, I plan on picking up dinner here because their prepared meals are monumentally better than any other grocery store. They also have semi-prepared foods galore which includes pre-seasoned chicken to throw on the grill, ready to bake pizzas, or ready to cook shredded vegetables. If you are shopping in the vegetable section and want something cut up for you, just ask someone and they will do it. There are also a few cafe-type areas which include a burger bar, a pizza oven, a coffe/latte shop, etc. So, like I said, we usually eat here. In terms of customer service, everyone I've encountered has been super nice and accommodating. Not overly accommodating like at some other Wegmans I've been to, but give it time. I'm sure once people get a feel for the Wegmans way, it will improve. Another thing I want to point out is that Wegmans sources a lot of the products they sell locally. At the opening, the seafood section was popping with free samples and most all of the fish and seafood was locally bought from NJ fisherman. I love that. They also sell local craft beers and other hyper-local items. And the Wegmans brand products are truly top notch. If you are deciding between Wegmans dressing and a "brand name item," go with Wegmans. It won't let you down. I tried to return exchange their product that was spoiled/poor quality and the customer service employees were so rude, and wouldn't take it back. Whole Foods has an amazing salad / hot bar. Wegmans Asian hot bar selection is the same price but inedible. Whole Foods has better sushi. Wegmans is overpriced, not sure why people shop here. The first time I visited Wegmans was on a visit to my aunt and uncle in western Maryland. I immediately fell in love with the grocery store. When we heard that a store was opening up in our area we were elated. We live in a very populated area, and the local grocery store is way too small. Wegmans is a large store, with wide aisles. I can honestly say that I have never had any close calls with with fellow patrons hitting me with their carts. My husband and I have taken advantage of the Burger Bar and Hot food section of the store. I find the burgers to be tasty, and they come with a side. I have eaten at the sandwich bar as well, and can honestly say they make phenomenal subs. A review is not complete without mentioning the cookie/brownie area. We are both big fans of the fresh bakery products!! :-) The produce is generally reasonably priced. The fish, in comparison to other stores, is a great value. The meats prices are comparable.to similar grocery stores. In addition, Wegmans offers great coupons and deals to the consumer in both the circular and app. I consistently use the $5 off of $25 coupon that comes in the mail every month. I have never been to a Wegmans before but have heard great things about it. How some will even drive an hour to go to one instead of using their local markets. So I was very excited when I found out they are opening one here. The drive here was a little long for me but I had to try it once to see. When we arrived, it was a little confusing since they are still doing work in the area. Seems like they are still building more stuff around this market. Once I walked in, wow, the size of this thing is huge. I don't even know where to start. So we walked to one end and started from there. Oh they have shopping carts for kids where there they have steering wheels much like some other retailers have it. They have a lot of stuff for sale. Even $999 truffles just in case you are in the mood for it. They have fresh seafood, meats, veggies etc. they also have lots of ready to eat stuff. You can order pizza and select your own toppings like blaze pizza. Order sandwiches, burgers, sushi, custom cakes, etc. I saw some grilled sea scallops for $12 and had to have it. It was pretty good and very reasonably priced. They have crab cake sandwiches for $12 as well. Or buy the pre-made crab cakes and cook it in the oven yourself at home. They also have an overhead train track which was great for kids. Overall it was a great experience and a great market. Everything is new and super clean. When I was done and ready to pay. Best supermarket I've ever been too. This is going to be my go to store! Selection and variety of goods is superb. Quality is better than other stores for example, far superior to Wholefoods and The Fresh Market. The staff appear helpful actually, at the deli counter they came straight to waiting customers and happily did their jobs. The women working on the deli counter were extremely helpful and upbeat. They appear to be very happy in their jobs. The quality of the produce on the deli counter was wonderful, fresh and lots of flavour. I have to travel a significant distance to shop here, because of the quality and positive shopping experience, I am happy to do it. read more

I ordered a sheet cake for my son's birthday. I asked for a the vanilla cake with chocolate filling, simple white icing with red and black piping (I was adding my own decorations). I paid $31 for a cake that looked slapped together and sloppily frosted. The platter the cake sat on was smeared with icing. The piping was not uniform all the way around. Some spots close together others widely spaced. When I cut in, the layers weren't EVEN! The bottom layer was SOOOO THIN. Could you even call it a layer?? I mean I wasnt asking for anything extravagant, so I WAS expecting a simple yet NEATLY iced cake. Not worth $31, even if it is all natural ingredients. I'll say it tasted good but presentation was lackluster & sloppy. read more

A little more pricey, perhaps, than some super markets but worth the trip. Aisles are spacious and there are a lot of items you won't find in your local market. The steaks are really tender and flavorful. Fruits and vegetables look just picked. The bakery is extensive. Besides the usual market items, there is also a large liquor store and the ability to eat in their restaurant area or take out a large variety of cooked items. read more

This is my favorite store and I'm always come here with my coworkers for lunch. You can chose whatever you want eat. Pizza, sushi, sandwiches, salads also you can pick buffet corner. There are many tables, so you can eat inside. read more
