Floors are disgusting. Cardboard boxes scattered everywhere. Looks like there was an apocalypse and everyone came in, grabbed everything, pushed things around, then ran out. There's only one register open at all times so sometimes a line goes all the way to the back of the store for checkout. There's a total of 3 workers there. One stocks shelves, one on the register and what looks like a manager who walks around the store thinking it looks good. There's freezers and fridges leaking water into the aisles. The only good thing I saw was that they had a wet floor sign up. I can't speak on the meat section because I wouldn't even think to buy meats from here. There's piles of dirt and garbage with brooms blocking some aisles. Overall I'm not sure how the health dept hasn't seen any red flags out of this place. I like the store. I think their bread selection is one of the best of seen. As I understand many of the breads are store made. However, the two times I've ventured into this store when checking out the women at the register was extremely rude. I have no idea what was going on. She through my groceries as she was handling them and I packed them. Handed me my receipt with no thank you...nothing. As she greeted the next customer I said, thank you. She ignored it. I run a business in the area and this behavior is not acceptable. I have reservations to recommend this place anymore. read more

What in the world is the purpose of this store? It's not a supermarket but more like a variety store. Shoes, jackets, cheap blankets - you know that isle at CVS. I wanted ground pepper - none in the spice section. Looked at bread and ... hello. ....Halloween candy in the same section, then more Halloween candy in another isle. A dollar store has more organized isles. Cases upon cases of ramen noodles next to 4 boxes of pasta and a 1/2 isle of organic stuff like dressing and cases upon cases of the same organic ketchup. I wanted a few Idaho potatoes but they were only sold in bags of 20. I wanted green peppers but they only had red. Oh and they have no hand baskets and the store is really small...if you need more than 1 item, you have to grab a shopping cart - so you have people blindly wandering around trying to find stuff while holding on to their cart. I did score a tiny Rosemary plant for under $3 and 3 raw beets for under $2 and the music is good. read more

Had to check out lidl being it just opened a couple days ago. I think there are some tough critics out there because I hadn't heard great things. But let me preface people are comparing it to a ShopRite which it absolutely is not. So yes if you are expecting to go in and have everything a regular supermarket has you will be disappointed. I am a frequent shopper at Aldi, so I knew what to expect. I was very pleased and the store certainly delivered on all the fronts. A huge bonus for me was to see they had a sanitizing station both inside and outside the store near the shopping carts. AND I was greeted several times on my way in by staff. The isles were well laid out and made complete sense. Upon entering you find the fresh produce and then you move into meat and on the outskirts specialty cheeses, tapas, hummus etc. I was excited about their bakery as that is the biggest thing I miss when shopping at Aldi. Got myself some piping hot croissants. They have their basic isles in the middle (you know what I'm referring to) and frozen towards the back. What I absolutely love which I 100% expected are all are all the random items that you find. For example they have a whole section with deep fryers, sweatshirts, laundry baskets, drinking glasses and so forth. Now again this isn't a regular supermarket where you have a deli counter and fresh Fish market. But I was definitely able to get some fun things like European desserts and chocolate that I can't find elsewhere. Also a couple of interesting frozen meals for when I don't feel like cooking. Also took advantage of several weekly specials so my bill wasn't as steep as it could have been. Prices are generally cheaper than a Wegmans and their veggies seemed to be cheaper than most supermarkets. Will be back when I'm looking for niche fun items. read more

I ventured over to Lidl after a friend recommended checking it out. The store has a massive amount of space to accommodate shoppers without feeling like you're being crowded while browsing. When walking in, you're immediately met with a small selection of plants and adorable succulent gardens. There are some fantastic deals all throughout the store from produce to meat. They also carry speciality items for gluten-free and vegan shoppers, especially in the frozen section. There are also LIDL brand items available, which is great if you're looking to try new items/flavors of things like chips. Overall, Lidl is a great place to stop for some deals and bargain finds. read more

If you like Aldi (which I do), you'll also love this place. The product curation at this Lidl is surprisingly similar to a Trader Joe, which makes me deliriously happy, and in the middle of the store there is a fun aisle of miscellaneous merchandise and clothing. (My prize find was a camping/backpacking-friendly folding saw for only $5! Wut?) The standout sections are the excellent and wide selection of produce, meats, cheeses, and frozen foods (lots of extremely well priced frozen seafood especially), and the in-house bakery (get the mini egg custard tarts which are on point!), but you'll find most if not all of your general grocery shopping needs here. The products are about half Lidl branded items, and half more common mass-market brands that you'd find at a big box grocery store. The store-branded items are good quality. Some interesting specialty and gourmet items and snacks. Pick up some fine German chocolates and Euro delices! There is a small kosher section as well. Hot tip: if you buy any clothes here, size up generously, as the tailoring seem to be geared toward European body sizes and a 'medium' fits like an American size 2-4. And did I mention the incredible prices? Lidl is a great addition to the neighborhood! read more

It took me a few visits to really appreciate the great addition Lidl is to the Pascack Valley area. My first few visits were at pretty busy times, which took away from the experience. However, I've been back quite a few times at less busy times so I could take my time, and I have to say there are quite a few things I really love about Lidl. Firstly, they have some amazing prices on produce, frozen products, and a lot of staples that people regularly buy. Secondly, they have great novelty items and Lidl brand items that are really good quality at affordable prices. Lastly, there are several items that are my go to items every visit: 1) the Norwegian and also the Chilean portioned Salmon is amazing and my absolute favorite item from Lidl 2) Lidl Organic Oatmeal and cereal and 3) any of the Lidl potato chips (love the dill flavored most of all). Oh, and the bakery items are really good. We recently enjoyed the blueberry muffins and loved the fresh walnut bread. While this is not a store where you can find everything you need all the time, it is a great store to add to your shopping rotation the same way you would an Aldi, or Trader Joe's. My last visit was right before Valentine's day and I picked up some cute heart shaped frozen pizzas for the kids for 2.99 -- it's stuff like that that makes this a unique store. Check it out at a calm time of day, and make sure to bring your own bags! P.S. my only feedback to Lidl would be to really have your employees be as friendly as possible. There is so much food store competition in this area and while I've never had a bad experience, so I can't take anything away from Lidl in that regard, no one has ever been above or beyond nice either like you find at a Wegmans or Stew Leonard's. Maybe I'm spoiled that way, but just saying, it does make a difference in the overall vibe. read more

Unfortunately, they are often out those great products on the day the sale starts. 2, weeks in a row, I went at 2pm and the product was sold out, so this week I am there by 11am, they are sold out. Consumer Fraud Alert! There's no joy in having to make a return. But if you do buy a product that is substandared, rotten or unedible, Lidl, like Aldi, promises an iron clad guarantee to not only replace the product (which you may likely not want to ever have again), but more importantly, also REFUND your purchase price on virtually all store brand items. This return policy promise from Lidl is literally printed on its store brand (which is most of the junk they sell!) packages! But the Park Ridge Lidl defrauds customers and refuses to give any refunds--whether by cash, or back on the charge card from which you paid! In fact, the nasty manager "Ashley" stated emphatically, "We don't give refunds in this store! If you don't like it, call Lidl customer service!" This, despite the fact that we had returned the defective product box (a horrid Lidl-brand frozen pizza) and brought back the receipt exactly as required. I'm sure you can guess what happens if you do waste your time calling Lidl's worthless American company headquarters in Virginia (the main ownership headquarters, like that of Aldi and Trader Joe's, is in Germany): You're told to go back to the store! Are they kidding? I'm not setting foot in this rathole Lidl again! This miserable excuse for a supermarket should not be permitted to operate. Lidl does not follow consumer law, runs false advertising, perpetrates false and deceptive business practices, and defrauds customers. We need much better, preferably American or locally-owned supermarkets with quality products--and stores that follow the law, let alone their own stated policies! read more

I shop at least once a week at this location in Park Ridge NJ. I went to entrance and was met by worker who told me store was closed for floor renovation. She gave me a coupon and told me will be open again "next week". I've been going to this Lidl in Park Ridge since they opened a few years ago, I am very happy with their prices and quality on meat, cheese, milk, eggs and soooo many other items. The only thing I would not buy in the berries because they seem to go bad very quickly. But it is a great place to shop, and I would highly recommend going there! read more

Makes me laugh reading all the negative reviews, it's a discount supermarket, what are you expecting Wegmans or Whole Foods? It serves its purpose, you can get a fair selection of items, but not on par with the aforementioned obviously. I really enjoy shopping at Lidl. They are constantly working on stocking the shelves, everyone is helpful and friendly and their non-grocery is fun to see what I did not know I needed. Love their store made Rosemary and all grain breads. Fun to shop their speciality section for unusually special foods on the side for salmon dip, hot cheese dips, etc. And a big yum on their cheese cakes, dark chocolate frozen bananas and more. Wanted to see what all the fuss was about when it came to Lidl. The whole premise of this store is ridiculous. Barely anything was well priced except some door busters or weekly specials. I could have found this pricing anywhere else. Meanwhile my son who is pretty energetic lightly jogged down a completely empty aisle creating absolutely no danger for anyone and I got tsk tsked by an employee or manager or something. I tried Lidl a few weeks ago and I don't understand the negative reviews. Everything I purchased was fresh, inexpensive and many packaged items like chocolate and biscuits were imported from Europe. It's not a Walmart, so I didn't expect it to have everything. It reminded me of the European style deli mart stores. I am sad it is closed. The salmon fillets were half price and very fresh and the unique imports were well priced and delicious. I would definitely recommend giving it a try when it reopens. read more

If you've been to an Aldi, Lidl is a very similar experience, down to the need to bring your own bags. The store is about 50-60% Lidl-branded products sold at a deep discount compared to what that product would cost name-brand at another store. Anything you buy that's Lidl-branded is a great deal and generally good quality. The only problem you'll run into shopping here is that selection is limited so you'll likely need to visit a second store to pick up anything not sold here. If you have to have a certain brand of food product, you'll also be disappointed as name-brand products are scarce. During my last trip, we left without lentils, quinoa, and a couple of types of frozen foods. That said, you can save a ton of money on anything they do sell. read more

Great store, too bad the manager (slim 40s-ish white male, might've had glasses.. who was on shift today 6/24/21) berated me when I tried to return a block of cheese 3 hours after my mother mistakenly purchased it. While squeezing the cheese with his 98 degree hands, he starts saying how he's going to have to throw it out and the air in it is missing and its warm. It sat in my fridge until I had time to go back to the store, it was perfectly fine quality. I was there at 7pm and the time on the receipt was 3:55pm. He wouldn't give me back the product even though I asked for it because he literally wanted me to stand there and put up with his power trip crap. I said "whoa!" he continued to be rude, so I called him rude twice, grabbed the receipt from the cashier (who was very nice/professional and I could tell this manager made her uncomfortable because she was tip toeing around his precious ego), and walked out. He wouldn't make eye contact or even look at me as he was speaking. I said multiple times it was no big deal if it couldn't be returned but I will NOT be abused over $3.29. Manager cheesehead, if you're reading this, please seek therapy and stop taking out your anger on women. I called corporate obviously. Who does this over a return? You can either do a return or you can't, but being rude for NO REASON is not an option. Do better. I've worked many retail jobs and I would never be rude to retail workers.
