They've got you over a barrel when they come out and start throwing parts. This was an install of a drop in kitchen sink and faucet. He told me his hourly rate was 135 bucks. I was expecting to spend about 400 maybe 500. The final bill was 850. I feel I was overcharged on both the parts and labor. He charged me starting 45 min before he got there but still included a "truck charge." The removal and replace of the sink took 2 hours. To me the "clock" starts on the labor at the agreed upon arrival time. When I'm getting charged 439(!) bucks for parts on top of the sink and faucet itself, that extra charge for labor is quite unwelcome. I mean the sink and faucet itself that were "nice" were like 500 bucks. So almost that again just in parts. ‍ His answer in general as I look at these reviews is that he buys his parts from a plumber supply not Home Depot etc. I would have to research each individual part to see if its price point is "fair". A perusal of solid brass fittings and pvc p traps on the Lowe's site shows the price I paid was about doubled. He acted quite insulted that I wouldn't know just how much better his parts were and implied they were all but unavailable at big box stores. literally doubling what I expected to pay was quite a shock to say the least. For the service I needed, they were amazing! I was adding a cold water tap for filtered cold water. I had the hole drilled in the countertop and just needed someone to install and split our water line. The facet was in a hard to reach area and I just didn't want to make any mistakes so I called SP and they were able to schedule me for a visit in just a few days. They gave me a time frame and they are great about communication. They sent me a text the day before to remind me of the appointment and the technician sent me a few text messages letting me know he was on his way about how long it would take for him to arrive. Calvin was my technician and when he arrived, I showed him what I needed and right away he went to work. Overall, it might have taken an hour and when he was finished, he showed me the work he did and everything was working perfectly. I know many people might have done this job themselves but I just didn't want any hassles and preferred to have someone who knows what they are doing, someone who does work like this every day.
