Dr. Robert Weber worked as an oncologist at St. Mary's hospital in San Francisco along with his brother, Dr. Peter Weber, a neurosurgeon. Dr. Robert Weber diagnosed my mother with brain cancer when she was 42 years old. He referred her to his brother for brain surgery. They both concluded that the tumors in her brain were inoperable but Dr. Peter Weber would place a shunt in her brain because that would address her symptoms. Dr. Robert Weber was cold and lacked empathy and was culturally insensitive. I was 16 at the time and I told my mom during her appointment with both of them in the room, that she should get a second opinion at a different hospital. In our culture, like many other cultures, you don't question doctors. He was very aggressive and aware of my mom's lack of confidence in speaking up, so he took advantage of her situation and told me to leave the room for the remainder of her appointment with both of them, even though my mom needed help with English and understanding medical terms such as "metastasized". They said that she had cancer that was from 9 years ago, when she had breast cancer of which she had received treatment and it had completely healed, but somehow it sat in her brain for all of those years. That didn't make sense to me. Both brothers would not let me come in with my mom for her appointments and terrorized her into chemo and radiation to the brain telling her she was "going to expire" and that she had two months to live. He Dr. Robert Weber was particularly cruel and a bully. My mom was scared and went through an aggressive radiation treatment to her entire brain along with chemo to the brain. Dr. Peter Weber placed the shunt in her brain that caused more problems in her limb. He then had her have another surgery where an implant needed to be placed in her leg to address the complications from the shunt. She was scared and trying to keep alive for her kids because that's what they told her she had to do. The treatment was so concerning that the hospital social worker, Fern, called my mother in to tell her that the treatment plan was wrong and she couldn't watch in good conscience what they were doing to her but Fern never said anything to the hospital. I watched the social worker cry and tell my mom she needs to leave St. Mary's. That she could have went to UCSF to have had pinpoint radiation to the lesions in her brain instead of radiating her entire brain. She was worried about the radiation and all the surgeries the brothers had my mom go through that didn't make sense including adding an implant into her leg and a shunt in her brain. She was so scared for my mom that she got my mom connected with the Make A Wish foundation to try do to something nice for her because she didn't know what else she could do to undo what Dr. Robert Weber and Dr. Peter Weber had done to her. After the all of the aggressive radiation, chemotherapy, shunt and implant into her leg, and hearing from the social worker, and countless emergency visits to the ER and many hospital stays, my mom went to UCSF where we are told that she had never had brain cancer. When we tried to reach Dr. Robert Weber, St. Mary's hospital said that he was on vacation and they couldn't contact him. When we tried to reach Dr. Peter Weber, the hospital said that he, too, was on vacation and he could not be found. We tried to understand what was happening to my mom and they made it difficult for us and had lawyers present when we tried to speak to the hospital. My mom's body has been breaking down year after year starting when she saw Dr. Robert Weber and his brother. She was 42. My mom is now 69 years old and I am 43. Because of the full brain radiation that Dr. Robert Weber put her through and the malfunctioning shunt that Dr. Peter Weber place into my mom's brain, she can only say a few words, she cannot walk, she lost use of her hands, she cannot eat on her own, she cannot use the bathroom on her own, she requires full time care from her adult kids, and she cannot tell when we are in the room with her. I have a 13 year old daughter who will never know my mom's laugh and personality or the full extent of her love because of Dr. Weber and his brother. The statute of limitation is 1 year for legal action. We were too busy trying to keep my mom alive and trying to understand how to care for her by the time we figured out what he and his brother had done to her. Do not go to this man or his brother Dr. Peter Weber who is currently working at CPMC. Some people might have benefited from their care. But Dr. Robert Weber has a wake of lives he has destroyed behind him. read more

Amazing team, amazing Doctor! He has been my Oncologist for many years. Vigilant, effective, and caring!

We relocated from southern California to Daly City. I had cancer 4 years ago. I need to do 6 months follow up with CT Scan until 5 years. So I am still under 6 months follow up process. My primary doctor referred to Dr Weber Robert in Daly City to do 6 months follow up. I told Dr Weber that my 6 months is due already. I need to do CT scan. He said he will see and ordered the CEA blood test first. The CEA test is good then he said I don't need CT Scan. I asked my husband to talk to him to get CT scan on next 3 months appointment. He said he needs to see the medical record from my previous hospital which he can request himself. He wants me to send the medical record to him and ask me to come back next 3 months. I requested my medical record to him and met him again at next 3 months appointment. He did not even take a look the medical record. But he ordered CT scan at that time, I had been seeing him 3 times in 9 months to get CT scan. I know he wants more visits to make money. But I was very late to do CT scan and found out late my secondary cancer. My CT scan show I had secondary cancer at ovary. So It took me another two months to see surgery doctor and got surgery. During two month, my one of cancer ovaries was broken and my condition is very worse now. If he ordered CT scan right after I told him it is time to do CT scan which is 9 months before he ordered the CT scan. I can find out my secondary cancer and my ovary will not be broken. Now everything is too late to me. What I learn with my life is never visit the doctors who open own clinic (not all doctors are the same). Mostly the doctors from medical facilities do not make money from patients' visits. So they will do whatever they support to do. Self employed doctors only make from patient visits. They wants more patients' visits. read more

I was diagnosed as pre-leukemia (or) MDS (Myelodysplastic Syndrome) on October 2019. My primary doctor referred me to Dr.Weber. I became his patient. My MDS can not be cured but he's trying to extend my life. He is very good doctor. Highly recommended. read more

I had a lymph node removed through surgery on December 6th 2012 by Dr. Robert Murray. After my lymph node was removed it was sent to two pathologist. One at St. Marys Hospital and one back east. I went back a week after surgery and I was told it was cancer free by the St. Marys Pathologist. Then I went back a three weeks later to my surgeon and I was told by the pathologist back east said it was highly suspicious of Hodgkin's Lymphoma so Doctor Robert Murray sent me to Dr. Robert Weber. I saw Dr. Robert Weber in January. I didn't get a good vibe and since it was dealing with something serious such as knowing if I had cancer or not I brought my dad and my dad had a odd feeling about him too. Anyways, he sent me to get a PET Scan. I got the PET Scan on February 20th and Dr. Weber didn't contact me for maybe 2-3 weeks in the middle of March (and left me worrying what my results were) saying that it's still suspicious of Hodgkin's Lymphoma. He said I should wait 3-4 months (which would have been around this time) and get another PET and maybe a biopsy. My general practitioner was getting frustrated and sent me to Jennifer Lucas at Marin Specialty Cancer Center in Greenbrae. She sent my biopsy to a Stanford pathologist and read the same PET Scan Dr. Robert Murray read and I ended up being diagnosed Stage II Hodgkin'ds Lymphoma on April 3rd. If I would have waited the 3-4 month Dr. Robert Weber suggested who knows if it would have spread to Stage III and I would have ended up needing chemo instead of just radiation. In my opinion I feel like Dr. Robert Murray should have seen it and caught it. If I would have waited it would/could have spread. He comes of like he's not really educated on Hodgkin's which is hard to diagnose but I suggest going to someone else. If you live in San Francisco I still would recommend seeing Dr. Jennifer Lucas or Dr. Peter Eisenberg in Marin Specialty Caner Center. Jennifer Lucas specializes in Hodgkin's Lymphoma. All the nurses there took care of me and offered massages, dietitians, therapist, and much more to make you feel comfortable. If you want to find your cancer or the stage don't go to him. He didn't see the cancer and another oncologist (Jennifer Lucas) found it in Stage II. How can you not see Stage II cancer? Hope my review helped :) read more

He takes the time to educate his patients until they thoroughly understand. I was hesitant to go at first because of the 2 stars on Yelp; however, my primary doctor referred me. Dr. Weber is really nice and friendly. I am happy I chose him. Only thing is, they seem pretty old school. Cash/check only. No computers/iPad--all paper work. And no reminder calls--which is fine lol. I wouldn't deduct any stars off because they do things a little more old school, just wanted give a heads up! read more

Avoid at all costs. He kept me on a chemo program for months after there were indications of renal problems that ended up trashing my kidneys. The few times I felt I had to email him/his support staff (e.g. asking for port insertion because they couldn't get blood from my veins anymore), I either got no response or it took over a week or longer. I finally ran from him (and St. Mary's Medical Center, which is systemically fubar) when he told me they had to discontinue treatments because of the kidney problems. In my opinion, he is burned out and should retire before he does harm to anyone else. read more

Dr. Weber is the best! I was diagnosed in early December 2009 and by Christmas I had already started chemo (CHOP-R). There was nothing he didn't explain. Great attention to my concerns and fears. Cancer is scary, so things don't always move at the pace you want, but I learned I can't blame my doctor for my diagnosis. My brother was diagnosed with stage 4 Liver Cancer by this doctor, who recommended chemo and radiation, not for cure, but to prolong life from 6 months to 1 year (which my brother did but couldn't tolerate the chemo). We were told he had a very aggressive form of cancer, and absolutely was "terminal." My brother barely made the 6 months. In my grief and attempt to understand what I just witnessed as my brother lost his life so quickly, I've since done a lot of internet research on Cancer and the immune system, and do not understand why doctors don't even bring up nutrition when so many people have had great results from changing diet, supplements, and non-poisonous cures, that 'up' the body's immunity and give it a fighting chance. The internet (i.e. Youtube) seems to suggest that chemo and radiation speed up the cancer progression, disabling the body from any sort of immune response to the cancer, and actually cause it to spread to other areas of the body. I recommend you not only investigate your oncologist, but also research Cancer yourself. Understand the causes of cancer and take the time to look at options. Try to avoid the fear that paralyzed us, preventing us from looking at other options. The doctors who tell you you're going to die period, end of story, should instead have a moral responsibility to tell you about nutrition, and what has worked for other cancer patients (outside of their practice if they only prescribe chemo and radiation), but I think they are actually required to do the opposite by the Cancer industry/pharma, and cattle prod everyone into chemo and radiation regardle$$. I also never felt a good vibe from this doctor (like another "yelper" mentioned). He seemed awkward at best. And I was not in the least bit surprised that he did not so much as call or send a sympathy card to my brother's widow, when my brother passed away last month.
