What stood out to me most is how genuinely invested he is in my well-being he never rushes appointments and always goes above and beyond to make sure you feel comfortable and informed. I think we all know that the medical industry has many bad apples but Dr. David Shu is amongst the most rotten of them all. I had some shoulder pains that was bothering me and found his clinic to be close to my home, so I decided to go knowing that the PCP will likely just refer you to a physical therapist anyways (which he did). However - before being sent along to that, Dr. Shu decided to charge me for an extra appointment, even though it was just the typical follow-up 5 minutes call doctors make when they get your procedure results back (a neck x-ray). Additionally, that 5 minute follow-up call began with Dr. Shu saying "I heard you need a change to your psychiatric medication" so another patient's file? or possibly accusing me of being psychotic? After calling to dispute it, their team picked up the call and simply said "you will be sent to collections and you need to find a new primary care doctor" as if it was not obvious I would never work with them again anyways..... Questioning the American people's intelligence I see. read more

Great doctor! Dr. Shu is very approachable and I appreciate his honesty. I've been going here for four years and all my visits have been timely. He carves out time to address any questions and concerns, which is rare in a doctor these days. He also gave me statins, and explained it's necessity after I'd been avoiding it for years. I would give higher than five stars if I could. I highly recommend Dr. Shu. He is very knowledgeable, and is extremely kind. He helped me get my prescriptions and knew which pharmacies in the area were reliable. He graciously helped me verify medical clearance papers for work. My appointments were always on time, and I like how he does blood test for you (saves you a trip to LabCorp). Parking is easy as there is a lot, and the entire process of getting an appointment was smooth! His staff are great and I could get an appt in a week (other places didn't even take new patients). ABSOLUTELY NOT! How David Shu, MD has those women run their front office is beyond me. I don't care how good Dr Shu may be if any new patient is completely turned off the first time the people they come into contact upon entering the office... because they don't answer their phone and they go beyond don't care. I've called this office FOUR times and left a voicemail and they've never returned a call and the only reason why I'm even trying to make contact is because my PCP no longer works with my insurance. They must be that busy I thought, so on a day off today, I came by to consider making an appointment in person. I parked, I tried calling again, but no answer as usual. I enter the office and see the two women at the front desk. I look at them, they don't acknowledge I'm even there, I look at the waiting room (pictured) and it's empty. I decide to call them on the spot and just as its ringing, the women on the left asks if I'm here to make an appointment... Really? Is it that common that patients must be physically present to make an appointment? So I told her, I'm a new patient and have called four times trying to make an appointment on the phone, but she cut me off to tell me I need to wear a mask. Power move and indicative of how this office operates. I wear the mask and she's already done with me - I decline making an appointment, because there is no way in hell I trust this office staff. I ask if there is an Office Manager - "nope." I leave. I don't understand how she's still employed there. It's as if she's TRYING to make Dr Shu's office fail. Mind boggling. read more

The worst doctor I have ever met in my whole life. I came visit him with my father in law today. He is 91 years old，his previous doctor has retired. So he started to visit Dr. Shu last year. The first time visit I didn't go with him, the Dr. Shu ordered all the test for him, when they do the blood test made his arm bruised for one month. Today my father in law has back issue his back been very painful for couple months. He wants to get some medicine or Cortisone Shot. And he has been having problems using bathroom each hour at night. But when we visit the doctor, the only thing he say is he is old. Nothing can do, no medicine and nothing. When we asking for reference, his nurse print a paper with google page with a spine doctor. And when I ask for print a page of instruction of strategy. Dr Shu was not very happy. Very rude when he's talking to my dad. And when I heard he can speak Chinese very well to other patients he denied he can understand what I am saying in Chinese. He's not a good person, he should not be a doctor to help people. As well as his nurses all very rude to my dad. They said please leave after the visit. But my dad wants to take a break sitting there, they came again saying I need this room for next patient, but actually no one coming or waiting here! AGAIN, I am socked with the nurses and doctor, they are treating us like not people. I hope they will close down their offices soon because they are not qualified for a doctor! read more

I really like Dr. Shu overall which makes it tough to give this 3 stars but my god, his office staff doesn't pick up the phone. Think I had to call 10 times in one day once to finally get someone to pick up. If you need someone once a year for a physical this doesn't matter, but if you have a question you want to run by a doctor or need to schedule an office visit, good luck getting through to the receptionists. My wife and I have both had good and bad doctors. Dr. Shu is without question one of the good ones. First of all, we didn't have any issues with the front desk staff and they were both comprehensive & professional each time we have dealt with them (which is several, now). Warm and Friendly, not that we'd really care .. but they seemed really good for us. As for Dr. Shu himself, with both my wife and myself (we have very different health situations, hers being rather serious), he has spent ample time with us and listened to both our concerns & ideas and ultimately came up with medicinal solutions that have truly helped us (and he help push them thru insurance). Dr. Shu seemed to be more concerned with making money from my insurance company than necessarily caring for my health. His office handles all of their own testing rather than sending you to the usual outside labs, which is fine. But he ran more tests (e.g., an EKG) and recommending vaccines that other medical professionals told me were warranted for an ordinary annual exam. I can only conclude that he was running up the bill to insurance. He would also insist on charging for an appointment to renew a prescription for that I have been routinely taking for over 10 years. Dr.Shu makes going to the doctors' office a pleasant experience. He's kind, informative, friendly, obviously knowledgeable, impeccable bed side manners, and great at what he does. But the most important thing is (to me) he listens and pays attention. He's never made me feel like I'm a bother or I'm overreacting... basically, he's a saint lol. His staff is welcoming and friendly. And they'll always try their best to get you in for an appointment. I just saw Dr. Shu and like other reviewers said - his bedside manner is great! A few things to know before you go... - There is parking in his building - if you are using your maps don't park on the street! Save your hard earned quarters! - The elevator in the building is a bit scary...so take the stairs - but that should not deter you from seeing him! - Like others have said, he does his own blood work which is cool. I had to get an EKG and they did it in the office too - they do way more in their office than other clinics I have been to where you have to get a referral, go to another building on the other side of town, blah blah - His bedside manner is top notch. Starting off this review by saying that I have NOT seen the doctor and this review is purely for the person who picked up the phone. I called to see if I could schedule a physical exam and the lady who picked up responded to my questions in such a cold, don't-have-time-for-you, overall negative tone that even if they did take my insurance, I would not have taken them up on it. I just have to give Dr. Shu another shoutout because I truly appreciate his commitment to his patients. Again, I've seen Dr. Shu since my adolescence and he has never let me down. Recently I was reminded of just how awesome of a person and doctor he is. A week ago I discovered a worsening abscess on arm to the point where I couldn't even move my arm without excruciating pain. Not knowing what else to do, I consulted Dr. Shu. This was on a SATURDAY NIGHT. Dr. Shu called me back within the hour and sent an Rx to my pharmacy for antibiotics. If you ask me, this is already going above and beyond. I wouldn't blame PCPs at all for turning their phones off on the weekend because that is essentially their time off. The next day, I sent an update to Dr. Shu re: my arm, and he advised that I go to urgent care/ED to have my abscess drained. If it weren't for Dr. Shu's guidance I honestly probably would have waited and the whole debacle would have been a whole lot worse than it already was. Thankfully, I went in and got it taken care of. ED staff were all totally in agreement of his counsel. He called me early on Monday morning to follow up, ask how I was doing, etc. Seriously, such a nice guy and great doc who legitimately cares. FRAUD. BEWARE. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. FOR YOUR HEALTH & WALLET. tl;dr; Will be reporting him for being UNAPOLOGETICALLY LAZY and USELESS to the detriment of patients. Stay away from David Shu. 100% agree with other reviewers that this place is a scam and these people are corrupt. Also, the office and waiting room haven't been cleaned since the 90's. First things first, David literally googles your symptoms on his cellphone and finds out what to do. Full. Stop. Did he really go to medical school? Is this what you want to pay for? Is this who you want to put your life in the hands of? Like is this something you haven't already done yourself? it's 2019.. Once he regurgitates a few links, he asks if you have any questions. And the best moment is that he can't or won't directly answer any question you ask at him. So after a few shrugs, irrelevant anecdotes, and "I don't know, go see a specialist", "i don't know, go ask your other doctor", you get frustrated and politely have no more questions. He rushes you out the door with a ghetto printout of his friend specialist (which have terrible yelp reviews as well). There. His job is done and he's content with his heavy mouth breathing self. And you pay him his doctor salary. You will leave with terrible thoughts on burning the place down. It's sickening to think of the number of people who get seriously hurt due to his carelessness as a "doctor" (read the other real reviews). Dr. Shu has been my PCP for more than 5 years and he always addresses any issues that I have. It might be a new prescription or referral to a specialist, etc. He is open to giving you time to change your diet before gIving you cholesterol or BP meds. No need to go to the lab because he takes your blood samples in his office and send them to the lab directly and calls you for results. I just moved out of the area and needs a new PCP, cross fingers I can find someone like Dr. Shu. read more

He was able to immediately and correctly diagnose a couple medical issues I've had for years and his prescribed treatments have worked well. His bedside manner is superb, which I was nervous about given the sensitivity of my issues. Administrative staff seem competent - I haven't had any problems. Flipping through some of the previous reviews, it seems like some of his patients have had heartburn around Dr. Shu looking stuff up on his computer. From my perspective, medicine is ever evolving and looking up the latest thinking as it pertains to a patient's problem is a plus - medical training doesn't mean you know all the answers (although in my case he did) - it means that he can better interpret and apply that information than the layman. read more
