Dr. Ben Maeck has been my primary care physician for over 15 years - and, in my opinion, he is a…read morereally great doctor. Not only is he a super diagnostician - he is also a truly caring person who makes sure to "get it right" and be there when you need him to see you. I, myself, have had several health care challenges, and he has helped me with all of them - referring me out to specialists, when needed - but also handling matters expertly himself, when needed. There is no way I can recommend him more highly - he is a terrific physician and a wonderful person, to boot. If you are looking for a PCP - look no further. He is a San Francisco treasure - "old school" in every good way - but he's also very, very smart and he will take excellent care of you. Call his able assistant Nick and make an appointment. (You can thank me later.)

Dr. Maech spoke of his East Coast upbringing and how he, like his father, decide to become a physician. He also spoke of his medical schooling and training. What impressed me the most, among other things, was his concern and personal involvement with those without medical coverage and/or access to prescription meds and/or a warm bed for the night Dr. Benjamin H. Maech lll is a Tier 1 caring physician and I feel blessed to refer to him as my Doctor.

She took care to explain why she was prescribing certain medications and gently prodded me to make more helpful healthy choices. She was confident but gentle in her guidance. Others commented here, saying that she failed to diagnose a rare medical condition. I don't find that to be disqualifying because, by definition, a rare medical condition is hard to discover. Dr. Khoo was cheerful, sensible and straightforward. Exactly what I wanted in a doctor. Would recommend her highly.

Instead, I called to confirm the appointment (scheduled for three weeks from today) and they have no record of me or the appointment. She moved over to Sutter and *completely dropped me and the appointment she proactively scheduled with me.* She didn't give me any notice about dropping me or anything I needed to do. I assumed we were all set for the upcoming appointment and now they are treating me as a new patient with the next available appointment four months from now. REALLY poorly handled by the doctor all around.

He always gives us the time we need to ask questions (and as new parents, we have a lot!). He listens patiently, never interrupts, and is incredibly attentive to every detail we share. One of the things we appreciate most is how approachable he is. He meets parents where they are -- whether we're asking about something we read online or just trying to make sense of newborn life. He never makes us feel silly for asking any question, no matter how small. Dr. Wan is also wonderfully pragmatic. He shares real-world examples from both his own experience and decades of medical practice, which helps us make informed, confident decisions. He's guided us on everything from when to allow visitors and how to handle family in town, to whether it's okay to take a newborn out to a restaurant. His clinic is spotless, calm, and never overcrowded -- something that really puts us at ease, especially with a newborn. The care team is equally fantastic: patient, gentle, and respectful of the time it takes to feed or change a baby before an appointment. They never rush us, and we always feel cared for. Dr. Wan and his team have also been there for us in moments of stress. On one occasion, after a virtual visit where we were worried we might need to go to the ER, Dr. Wan saw us in person within 45 minutes. He reassured us, equipped us with tools for next time, and helped us avoid unnecessary panic. That kind of accessibility and care is truly rare. If you're looking for a pediatrician who combines deep expertise, compassion, and real-world wisdom, Dr. Wan is the one. We're so grateful to have him guiding us through these early days of parenthood. Highly, highly recommend Dr. Wan and his amazing team.
