Dr. Dohemann is a brilliant, well- informed and INTUITIVE doctor. He has the sensitivity to intuit when an issue will heal itself, or if further action is necessary. He is totally honest and truly caring. I trust him with my life, which he saved after the ER doctor failed to diagnose that I was dying from an infected appendix. When I was finally able to see Dr. D he immediately figured it out. I was rushed to surgery and would have died in 4 hours, so said the attending nurse. I was excited after reading all the 5 star reviews. Sadly, I never got to experience Dr. Dohemann because the customer service was so bad that I couldn't even reach his staff, let alone make an appointment. I called and got a voicemail explaining their hours and it seemed that they were at lunch. No problem. I called back later and again got the voicemail even though it wasn't lunch hours. I explained that I was a new patient and wanted to make an appointment. Roughly a week passed without a return call, so I called again and left another voicemail, again during their normal office hours. I waited and waited and got no return call. Finally, I was left with no choice but to find a different doctor (whose staff promptly answered the phone, by the way). I've had a few bad experiences with customer service at doctors before, but this was the worst I've ever had. I have been seeing Jesse for many years, and my partner is also now a patient of his. and he agrees with me Jesse is an amazing caring man. If he is not sure what is wrong with you he will find out, and keeps you up to date on every test and is honest with what he thinks or results of test. I had to go into the hospital at one point and my insurance would not cover Jesse being my primary in the hospital. Jesse still came in everyday to see me and go over charts to make sure he was in the loop with my treatment. Dr. Dohemann has been my doctor for about 20 years. He is absolutely wonderful. He is retiring and has gone to a new office that used to be Bay Springs but is now Brown and Toland. I've been trying to reach them all day because of bladder issues and also my pharmacy continues to call and cannot refill an important medication that I take for depression. Everytime I call I am put in line to talk to someone and everytime we get to me being behind # 1 in the line, I get a message telling me to leave a message and then I get cut-off. I am desperate to talk to someone. This is worst than his previous office which wasn't great either but at least I could get hold of someone who would talk with me. Bay Springs has terrible, terrible customer service. I am planning to go to the emergency room later today. I do not know what else to do. I will also try and find another doctor. No one will ever be able to replace Dr. Dohemann but Bay Springs/Brown and Toland is the worst. read more

Just called this morning (2-17-15). Was told by receptionist Dr Jesse Dohemann does not accept new patients for the time being as he's too busy. I've been in the US for over a year now, coming from Europe. Health system is different here so can be sometimes hard to find my marks. Dr. Dohemann is the best primary care physician on the planet. I have a lot of medical issues, and he deals with them in an extremely competent manner. He is kind and understanding as well. I love my doctor. The wait can be long to see him, both in terms of getting appointments and hanging out in the exam room once you're there, but once he's with you he gives you his complete attention. Dr. Dohemann knows what he's doing, never preaches, and treats you like he really gives a damn about your well being. I have been going to Dr. Dohemann for over 10 years now and am so very grateful that I found him. He is a truly exceptional human being as well as an exceptional doctor. Dr. Dohemann is the physician that everyone would want. He has been my primary physician for 20 years and has now been my daughter's primary physician for the past 10 years - she raves about him. He really takes the time to listen to his patients and openly discusses everything and anything with you and you feel comfortable telling him anything I went to see him a few years ago after apparently breaking several ribs in my back after a fall - following his examination and x-rays to confirm the situation he discussed how long the healing would take and how to manage the discomfort --- I then asked him what the chances would be for me to crew on a 3 day ocean sailboat regatta six weeks from then --- he said you will be kinda ok day 1; you will be in a great deal of pain day 2; and you will jump off the boat before the end of day 3. I got the message. Also, there is never a sense of time pressure during your appointment with Dr. Dohemann - he is focused on you as a patient 100%. I have at times sat longer in his waiting room for my appointment but I don't care because that means he is spending the time necessary with whoever is in front of me and I will get the same consideration when it is my turn. read more

One day I had an appointment with Dr Jesse because I had been sweating at night, so much so, I had to change my sheets 3x. Of course I went online to try to figure out what it was, and became frightened when I learned that it could be TB. But for me, It was worse. I was a women in her 30's inexplicably going through menopause. And I ADORED kids. But I was single, working, with no spouse in sight. Dr Dohemann called me with my test scores and I started sobbing, SOBBING! I said, this is just not what I planned for my life! I've been going to see Dr. Dohemann since I first moved out here in 1994. I've had different insurance companies over the past 10 years, including Kaiser (yuck) and I've always returned to see him. This is coming from someone who has no loyalty to any business and would switch banks at the drop of a hat. He doesn't ever try to dismiss anything you have to say and always accepts what you have to say as valid and will work to get to a resolution. Like Armando B. states below, I only gave 4 stars to him since he seems to have a difficult time finding reliable receiptionists. There have been times where I've had to call 3 times to get an appointment. That being said, I can overlook this because he's fantastic and an overall great guy. I like Dr. Dohemann when I see him, and overall I wouldn't switch doctors, he is pretty busy but he definitely still seems to care about his patients, and he's referred me to some great specialists when I've needed it, but: seeing him isn't always so easy; I really don't know if that's because his secretary doesn't give him the messages or it's him, but in any case it can be pretty frustrating to call with a medical problem and not hear back until I call 2 more times. read more

My doctor rules! He is the best doctor EVER. He truly cares about his patients' well-being. I love that he doesn't make you feel like a number or a dollar sign. He is very attentive and listens to everything you have to say. I work at CPMC and when i run into him, he actually KNOWS who I am, unlike some other doctors I've been to. He even got off the elevator at my floor one time to continue listening to what I was telling him (slight complication w/my pregnancy), and told me to come by his office that very day so he could hear all the details and examine me himself. Today he squeezed me in on short notice because I've been having awful headaches for two weeks, and he wanted to do all he could to help me solve the mystery diagnosis that the ER couldn't seem to figure out. Jesse Dohemann is one of the best physicians I have ever met - he typifies what I have always wanted in a family doctor. I was fortunate enough to get into his closed practice about 10 years ago and he has helped me greatly through some complicated medical issues over those years. I never mind waiting a longer time in Dr. Dohemann's outer office to see him as I know he is spending extra time with another patient and he will do the same for me - he never rushes you - he always is so interested in your individual situation and what can be done.
