This office commonly ignores any and all requests for prescription refills and providing the referrals needed for specialists. So frustrating. Messages sent online are ignored. Calls to the office are taken by the clerk, but nothing ever happens. No idea why. No idea how this office is still in existence. read more

Dr.Nienow is amazing, but the review I'm leaving is for his non-medical educated front desk Cynthia. This woman is extremely rude and disrespectful. She knows NOTHING and because of that gets frustrated and thinks its ok to call people names. I have tried to find a better way to approach this, so if anybody reading this knows a way I can report this woman without having to go through her, please let me know. After seeing him for 2 years with no issues (besides Cynthia his receptionist who has a bad attitude) he completely abandoned my care after I had an accident in Mexico. I spoke to him briefly the day after the accident as I needed medicine information so he was aware of my accident and that I was in the hospital. A week later I requested (per my doctor in Mexico) complete blood panel results from my last visit with him as my condition suddenly went very critical and I ended up in the ICU. I emailed and also texted twice as I had his cell number since he called me from it. Stressed the emergency situation and I never heard from him again! I was shocked and dismayed. So unprofessional and uncaring. I was in that hospital for a month and had to be air ambulanced to a local hospital in the States. I didn't do more follow ups as I was in such a bad state in the hospital. I have a mind to file a complaint with the Medical board. Take my advice and stay away from Dr. Nienow! read more

Slow to respond. No empathy. No help. Virtually ignores your condition and complaints. I don't know how this office retains clients.

Dr. Nienow took over Dr. Feldman practice. Dr. Feldman assured me he was a great Dr. and would take good care of me. Dr. Nienow is a great Dr. he's attentive and I never feel rushed. He even saw me in the offie after I insisted that I didn't want my first appointment over the phone. I'm grateful to Dr. Feldman for sending me Dr.Nienow I know he will take great care of me, that means a lot after fighting HIV for 42 years. Thanks Doc. read more

I unfortunately inherited Dr. Nienow from Dr. Feldman who was amazing. I started with teladoc appointments since he wasn't seeing anyone due to pandemic. My impression of him is that he was never prepared, always winging it, and improvising. He would also waste time talking about mundane stuff and when we finally got to the concrete medical portion, we were out of time and I had to schedule a new appointment. Finally I went to see him, and he had no idea what I was there for, there was no prior preparation to my chart, and too be quite honest, he seemed to not be on his senses (use your imagination) and googled quite a bit, and rushed me after wasting a good part of the appointment time in mundane stuff as before with prior teladoc appointments. So far, not pleased at all. read more

I join the several others here in praise of Dr. Neinow. He is an excellent physician. The best I have ever had. When he left One Medical abruptly and suspiciously in September, I was disappointed to say the least. He'd been my primary care physician for several months--the only one I've been able to find at One Medical or elsewhere who was worth returning to. One Medical sent me a brief, mass email announcing his departure and did nothing to assist me in finding a replacement primary care physician. Nothing. It's been over 4 months since Dr. Neinow's departure, and I still don't have another primary care doctor. I saw someone at One Medical's Castro office last week and was extremely dissatisfied. Not only with this physician's cold and institutional provision of services, but also with how openly this doctor trashed Dr. Neinow. This new doctor told me the reasons One Medical "fired" Dr. Neinow. It was insulting and inappropriate. Dr. Neinow, as soon as you've been able to set up a new practice, I will happily leave One Medical and join. You are an amazing, one-of-a-kind doctor. read more

Love Dr Nienow. I was somewhat taken aback by how little he spoke at first. He spent most of our first visit listening. Afterwards he made some reflective recommendations previous doctors had made but somehow never sunk in. Compassionate, and a strong advocate for my health, without coming across as overtly pushy. I've since recommended several friends who've all been thrilled with their experience as well. read more

I wasn't pleased with my appointment with Dr John. I can imagine his frustration of me booking the wrong type of appointment and seeing him as Martin wasn't available due to my extremely limited time before travel. Which is a service that I paid additional fees for by joining one medical. However his attitude and overall focus was extremely uncomfortable and it was one of the most awkward sessions. He was border line rude and acting annoyed the entire session. I can see why the complains about over priced medicine in the US and lack of regulations for doctors. I'm very glad I see Martin kramer. He is pretty down to earth, knows his stuff, and experienced in men health. I usually have better luck with professional, trained, and patient PA as Martin. I believe he knows way more than the MD. At least I feel extremely comfortable visiting him and discussing my health issues very openly. read more

I should have known I wouldn't be the only one who was thrown for a loop by Dr. Nienow's departure. This man saved my life. He was there for me when I had no one and nothing. He helped me so much. I've seen so many doctors and they have all either been awful or just not good. They were dismissive and made me feel like it was my fault that I had all these health issues. He was a major support for me. I am so sad to see him go. I started seeing someone new at One Medical and I'm miserable. Here's hoping that he starts practicing again. When I found out I needed to find a new primary care provider I was devastated. Dr. Nienow has a way of making his patients feel like real people and treats the person rather than the symptom or only the illness as many other doctors do. His education and background speak for themselves and that's how I chose Dr. Nienow several years ago. I stayed with him because of everything else I discovered about him along the way. Nothing bad to say about One Medical after the good doctor's departure except the good doctor isn't there. Being his final appointment, I was starting to think I'd pushed him over the edge. It seems his services are still available and I strongly recommend anyone looking for an excellent doctor to hunt this man down... What's up Doc? Glad you're back! read more

I would highly recommend Dr. Nienow (and have to many friends). He's punctual, very well informed, and a great physician.

What can I say about Dr. Nienow? This man is a SAINT, he saved my life for sure. I was a tough case and dr's I have had in the past would have given me the long face and told me to get my affairs in order. Dr. Nienow dug in and pulled alot of resouces together to find the answer to my problem. I know if I had not found him I would be taking a dirt nap. This guy is a goddamn saint! read more

I have been seeing John for almost 2 years now. He is an amazing doctor. I have been taken care of very well and he is on top of all my medical issues. I even keep my lousy Humana health insurance just because he is my HMO and I don't want to loose him. read more

Thrilled to read the good news that the best doctor in San Francisco is back. Unfortunately the new practice does not currently accept Blue Cross HMO. I hope this changes soon. I will be back with Dr. Nienow the minute it does. read more

He may advertise "same day appointments" but that only applies to people who purchase what he calls a "membership" for $149. For the rest of us, even though we have insurance it takes a month to see the doctor. So I saw one of his colleagues, a Michelle Kay, who wanted to charge me a $125 co-pay to spray a little freezing agent on a sore on my chin. She was going to do the procedure without advising me of the cost, but being a little smarter I asked her first and she admitted that I'd be charged. It' sad that medicine today has become not the least bit about care and all about money, money, money! read more

I've been seeing John for a couple of years. I'm a Registered Nurse, so I'm pretty particular about my personal healthcare providers. I have to say, I feel like I'm in the hands of one of the best doctors in San Francisco! He is attentive and thoughtful and seems to always have done a bit of "homework" before I've gotten there. He'll have some new study to show me, or know of a new development regarding my condition. He's got a good sense of humor, is accessible, and I can't recommend him highly enough! read more

Dr. Nienow is great. He was sensitive to my concerns and addressed them in a non-alarming kind of way. He ordered just the right tests. Turned out to be nothing to be alarmed about....thankfully. We did have a small communications problem with the follow-up appointment, but the very polite, professional office staff understood that I was upset and remedies the situation. Thank you Dr. Nienow. John was the only dr that helped me after I was assaulted in 2012. He made sure that all of the appropriate tests were ran afterwards and even helped me find the right psychiatric fit for someone in my shoes. Afterwards John addressed my other illnesses as they came up in a very caring, very real manner. I have been devastated since his suspicious departure from One Medical. I was also handed off to another dr whom I thought would be a good fit for Me after John at OMG. I'll have you know that I have had nothing but problems with the OMG staff that is now looking after my "care". I have my husband tracking John down because he keeps seeing his name come up with tests that he has ordered through UCSF so I know he is working somewhere. As for me currently,I'm in bed with stomach pain and I fractured my foot...I'm still waiting 5 days later for a response from my "new" dr at OMG that I emailed. read more
