I've been here a couple of times, but I've always ordered and picked up. This time I decided to go through the drive-through and it took forever to get my food. It was also a task order as they were out of a lot of items on the menu so the menu was very limited. I ended up ordering a wing meal, which was about $19 with two sides. I also ordered the kids meal. The chicken wing meal was five wings, portion of rice, candied yams, and macaroni and cheese . I will say that portion sizes were a bit small for the price. The yams were perfectly seasoned not too sweet not too tart. The macaroni and cheese was also very delicious. It had the right amount of cheese and the right amount of crisps on top. I wish there was a little bit more to taste, and the wings were perfectly fried and seasoned well. I will say the chicken tenders for the kids meal were very tiny. They were more like strips instead of actual full-size tenders and they were packaged with the fries which made them extremely sweaty and wet, and the fries were also very soggy. I would recommend packaging the items separately and not stuffed in a box to sweat together. The drink for the kids meal was very tasty a little on the sweet side. It was their mystery tropical drink. Customer service was extremely friendly. I had to ask for condiments and napkins but overall they seem like young kids that did their best. I will say the price is a little bit on the tad side. This was almost $30 and the serving sizes just weren't there for the money. But the taste was great. I'll definitely try again as I really wanna try a few other items on the menu that they were sold out of. read more

It was pretty quiet for a Friday afternoon but don't let that fool you, this cookin is realllll soul food, even the sweet tea had me about to fall out of my chair because it was so good. Went to We Shuckin after seeing a video on it from TikTok. I opted for the fried shrimp with the special Shuckin sauce on the side and a side of collard greens, rice, and macaroni! The shrimp was VERY well seasoned and the sides were very delicious too. Inside the ambiance is very unique. The music is all 80's top hits (excuse me if I have the era wrong as I'm a 90's child lol). And they had a screen that played unique advertisement of little skits for the restaurant with catchy tunes. It was very entertaining. They also have large jenga and connect four to play while you wait for your food or after eating. The lemonade was also very delicious and sweet. The service was okay. The only thing is the front desk person doesn't stay in the front and they kept going to the back so if you need something or to order you would have to wait for them to come back to the front. read more

So I'm in fort Lauderdale and I really got hungry on a Sunday afternoon after church. Since this was my vacation, I wanted to try some of the best cuisines I can find and to my surprise, there was a funny commercial for a place called We Shucking Southern Eatery! Let me tell you the food was awesome! Chicken was tender and the rice was to die for. It came with some of the best macaroni and cheese I could have asked for they also had this amazing honey sauce that had a hot sauce vibe to it. I've been wanting to try this location for a while and I was finally able too. I picked up food to go and the restaurant was completely empty. Service was pleasant. We started with the conch fritters which were delicious. They had big pieces of conch and it was really enjoyable. We had the fried catfish dinner with rice , Mac and sweet potatoes. The rice was spicy for no reason, the Mac and cheese was bland and the sweet potato was good. The catfish was pretty good. The fried rib dinner we had w rice, Mac and beans. Ribs were good , but again the side weren't good. Overall this place was ok, but I don't see myself coming back. The food was horrible!! We ordered fried catfish, I specifically asked if the fish was Swai-the cashier said no its real catfish. That was a lie. when we recieved our food my container was sloppy redbean juice all over the container and out of the container just a mess. In addition the maccoroni and cheese was not fresh it was old. They did not greet us, it was not welcoming at all. The fish was sooooo salty, and it took a long time to get the food. I am scouting different soul food restaurants that cater in the area and came across this spot. I walked in and was seated pretty quickly. I was a bit thrown off by the venue as the restaurant is located in what used to be some sort of fast food chain with a drive thru. The inside was not at all what I was expecting. Although there are tables and a decorative wall, this is definitely a grab and go type of restaurant. I ordered the shrimp and grits with a side of catfish and chicken tenders in their signature sauce. My wait time was about 20 minutes. The catfish and tenders were delicious! Accidentally found myself in the parking lot of this location and figured I check it out. It was pretty quiet when I walked in and the cashier was very friendly! The place looked like an Arby's layout to me and the cashier had mentioned it used to be a Burger King. I'll admit it wasn't too inviting inside however the food was well worth it.I couldn't decide between the lemonade or the southern sweet tea, so I asked what the cashier had preferred. They recommended getting the Jukin Juice instead.. and I loved it ! It was very fruity and not too sweet! I ordered the Chicken Tenders Dinner that comes with two sides of your choice. I got the Geechee grits and Mamas mac & cheese ( they have plenty of side options). I didn't realize it comes with rice until afterwards . The chicken tenders were perfectly cooked ( JUICY ) and seasoned! The Jive sauce was sweet like honey and berries to me. It's a must for your tenders ! The Mac and cheese is bomb!! We visited again yesterday evening to grab takeout. I have to say that this time wasn't as good as the last time. I ordered cornbread and they called me when I was on the way to pick up and they said I would get a refund. I also took the opportunity to ask them about an email that I received for my birthday offering to give me a free dessert. Unfortunately, the coupon code did not work when I was putting in my order. When I asked the girl about it, she said that I could have them take the coupon off at the store, but at the time they had no desserts. When I went through the drive-through to pick up my order, they forgot my chicken tender dinner, and I had to ask the girl about it because the bag look a bit empty for what I ordered. She took it back and was able to remedy the situation. Lastly, they give you all these points when you order, but I have yet to figure out how to use them. I am so happy that I tried this place through Uber Eats. It's convinced me to perhaps go there in person to get even fresher food. I ordered from here last night after wanting to try something new. Didn't realize this place was here. We were hungry and my Hubby pulled into this drive-thru. I was initially disappointed because I was not in the mode for Burger King. But then I quickly realized that this menu was totally different, so I asked where we were. Then he decided to go in to order so we could really look at the menu and decide. This place was very nostalgic. So many memorabilia that I remember from when I was younger. The young lady who took our order was really nice and allowed us to take our time reviewing the menu and ordering. We were with the kids so they enjoyed playing the little sack game and the giant connect four game. I got to take a look around and saw the out door area which looked like a nice place for a small get together space. One of the cooks came out to let us know that they were cooking fresh fries and to apologize for the wait. We appreciated the update and just enjoyed taking a look around while we waited. One of my kids and I had the shrimp and fries, and I added a side of macaroni and cheese. My Hubby had the fish and grits. The my or these two kids had the chicken tenders and fries. All of the food was fresh and delicious. We got home and set down around the table to chat and eat and really enjoyed everything. I really enjoyed the shrimp and it was the perfect amount. Ordered food on Uber eats. They ran out of two pretty big items on my order. Did not choose to communicate it to me or explain it to the Uber driver properly. When you were driver arrived he said he asked them for all items and they just told him that was it. They did not mention anything was sold out they just said that's the order. Which then led me to have to drive to their location because guess what, the number on Uber Eats and Google did not work. So there was no way to call anyone and confirm that more than half my order had sold out. When I got there, it said it closed at 9:30 and I got there at 9:20 and the doors were closed. A young lady came out and when I asked her about my Uber Eats order, she simply said "oh, we sold out". This all could have just been easily communicated through a phone call to the customer. Customer service is a huge of any food experience whether it's dining in or takeout. This alone will keep me from ever probably coming back to this restaurant. So we decided to go through the drive-through and order anyways, we ended up ordering 2 tenders dinners with the sides... Mac & cheese sweet potatoes and Cajun fries, along with a side of fried shrimp, and we got the red velvet cake on the side because they were out of strawberry shortcake. I also wanted conch fritters and they were out of that as well... So beware they may be out of items. So after you order you do have to wait in line for 15 minutes for it to be ready. Overall the food was ok... The jivin sauce was good. I enjoyed the tenders and shrimp. Mac & cheese was overcooked in my opinion and the noodles were way too soft and it wasn't much flavor. The fries were not bad but I prefer mines more crisper. Sweet potatoes were ok too. The cake was pretty good.. just on the sweet side. I don't necessarily have to return again, the experience wasn't unique, food was just ok, and I don't live on this side of town. So right off the bat, you come inside and not many upgrades have been done since the old Burger King was here however they do have neon lights and a nice memorabilia wall with a huge connect 4, Jenga and corn hole. I think they have the right idea, but I get a very fast food feel. I can't help but feel I'm still inside Burger King. Now what bought us here was the fact that we got coupons in the mail. We thought they may have been closed from how dark it looks outside. We get here and you order through an iPad machine however the iPad doesn't let you use any coupons. We called for help several times yet nobody came to help us although we could hear the staff laughing and talking in the back. Finally they a guy came to help us. Okay now the important part, the food -- We ordered the Great Granddaddy. We were told it would feed 4-5 people. This is definitely not the case. The catfish filets, shrimp, and tenders were all small. The sides were even smaller. I would say it feeds like 2-3 people. The Cajun fries... were indeed not Cajun. In fact they had no type of seasoning on it. Although I have mixed emotions about writing this review, I feel it's necessary. I look forward to supporting black owned businesses every opportunity I can, however, our standards on service leaves something to be desired. This review was garnered after two visits to We Shuckin'(Taft Street location). The nostalgic atmosphere and old school music is great but not enough to distract from the poor service. I ordered two dinners and it took 35 minutes to receive my order (after I went to the counter to inquire why it was taking so long).I love that they hire young people, but there needs to be some fundamental standards on customer service set in place. With that being said.. the food is very good and flavorful. It will be some time before I return.. hopefully, the feedback will be appreciated and be used as a means to improve on the quality of service exhibited. Much Success. read more
