I became a patient of this dermatology practice after my former doctor its owner closed her…read morepractice and sold it to this group. Metropolitan dermatology is a conglomerate of 20 dermatology practices purchased around the state. It is not managed by doctors it managed by office staff that are not medical professionals. My recent visits indicate that it is the bottom line rather than patient care that is the priority of the new owners. .There are only two doctors on site Dr. Patel and Dr. Cohen. Dr. Cohen only works one day a week (He is a holdover from the old office). On previous office visits with Dr. Patel, I had good experiences. However, last month (December 2024] after making an appointment, confirming that appointment, taking sick time off and arriving on time, I was told they did not have the supplies necessary to provide the treatment I had sought. Dr. Patel was very apologetic, but I was significantly inconvenienced and ended up burning half of a sick day for my trouble. I rebooked the appointment for January - Dr. Patel offered me a discount for the cost. Because of risk of infection, I was advised to postpone any dental work for the January appointmen, so I did. I scheduled sick time & confirmed my appointment 2 days in advance. I attired on time and was told after a 30 minute wait that the supplies that were necessary for my treatment were not on site and they would be brought from Paramus. Dr. Patel told me it would only take 15 minutes for the drive. This of course was ridiculous because nobody can drive from Paramus to Cedar Grove at 3 o'clock in the afternoon in 15 minutes. I was furious. She was apologetic and admitted she's only an employee and has no role in managing the practice. A lame excuse and not helpful. Apparently, the "managers" shuttle medical supplies back-and-forth between the offices, presumably for cost containment. In my case, A special syringe was required for the procedure and it was moved to Paramus Even though the appointment was confirmed. In fact, the "manager" moved all the syringes to Paramus. I told Dr. Patel beca of this second inconvenience in 30 days, I wanted a substantial discount for the services. She left the room and returned to renegotiate and counter offer. This was astonishing. She told me that the tech who was dispatched from Paramus would arrive in another 30 minutes. Suffice to say she did not arrive. I left the building. So, I have now burned 2 sick half-days - have not had the procedure and need to find myself in surgery of a new dermatologist. I strongly recommend that if you have anything other than a simple rash or a pimple, not to use this dermatology group. Dr. Patel is a cog in the wheel and she answers to offsite people who have little regard or patient's time or convenience. I will not go back.

I would recommend them 100%!

I've never had to wait more than a week for an appointment. The good doctor is a soft spoken and patient man, good with kids. He takes him time and you never feel like he's rushing you out the door. I had a mole under my eye that had started bleeding. Of course I googled, and everything I read said go straight to dermatologist. I found Dr. Gold and made an appointment for a skin exam. He glanced at my Mole with the naked eye from about 2 feet away and said it looked fine. Since I had read that bleeding was a problem I asked how he knew. He replied 'how do you know how a website works?' (I'm a web developer.) Meaning, I'm a professional, so don't question my judgement. He told me it wasn't a problem mole, but I could have it removed for cosmetic reasons if I ever wanted to. Long story short, about a year or so later my sister kept complaining about how disgusting it looked so I decided to get it removed. Thank goodness Dr Gold didn't take my new insurance so I went to a different professional to have it removed. She looked at it with some sort of magnify thing and seemed to have an immediate feeling that out was probably going to test positive for being a basal cell. It hadn't grown out changed much since my visit with Dr Gold. It tested positive and has been surgically removed. EVEN CRAZIER, I was telling this story to a co-worker and she was telling me this story that happened to her about 10 years ago where she went to a dermatologist and the guy had just a big know it all attitude and told her she was wasting her money to do a skin exam because she was Italian. Turns out, THAT WAS DR GOLD TOO.

I would give it zero stars if I could. Completely unprofessional service. I went in to discuss a…read moreserious medical issue that I have been dealing with for a long time and spoke with Doctor Maria Amar. After waiting and having pictures of me taken on their ipad which I was not told the purpose for, I only had about a seven minute consultation with Maria. She ordered a specialized blood test panel for me. She told me during my visit that when they receive my bloodwork results, they will call me so I can come in and discuss them. I promptly got this done and received my results. I waited a few weeks to receive a call from the dermatologist office and did not hear from them at all. So I called them. They made me wait on hold for about 10 minutes and when I was finally the "first in line" their automated system then told me they cannot take my call at that time. So I called the next day. I asked if they received my bloodwork results. The woman who answered the phone checked and said that they did receive my results. I then asked if I can come in to discuss the results. She tells me that the provider that ordered it has not yet looked at it. Then she asked me if I would be fine talking about it over the phone and I said yes (although I initially hoped to speak to the doctor in person about my results and the next steps) and confirmed my number for them to call me, and she said that I will get a call. I never received the call. Considering that this is a dermatologist office that markets itself as "high end" and was also quite expensive even just the copay was well over 100 dollars (just for a very brief consultation) this kind of treatment is completely unprofessional. For a doctor to tell you confidently they will reach out to you to discuss a very important health matter and doesn't even look at your results NOR call you back is just unacceptable service. I was optimistic going to this doctor after struggling with this issue for a long time and going to many doctors and trying several different medications already, and had a very negative and unhelpful experience at Geria Dermatology . If you genuinely care about your health and want it taken seriously , I would not recommend this place.

I usually arrive a few hours before my appointment time, so I have no complaints about wait times. I first became a patient of Dr. Downie 16 years ago when I was living in NJ and her office was at another location in Montclair. I needed a doctor who specializes in the treatment of African skin, which easily scars and hyperpigments. A few customers in my hair braider's shop recommended her. Dr. Downie successfully treated my melasma because I have not since had a recurrence. Dr. Downie is both my medical and cosmetic dermatologist. I drive over and hour and a half from Eastern Long Island to see her. She has performed on me many cosmetic procedures, which beautify my skin. I use the skin and hair products she recommends. My scars have reduced significantly, and my hair is now growing like wildfire. I have never received more compliments from strangers about my image. All staff are friendly and professional. I will continue patronizing Image Dermatology because of the stellar treatment that I get here.
