I made an appointment for my teenage son at the Verona, NJ location because he needed treatment for acne. Unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing and upsetting. Dr. Natalie Lau, the physician assistant, came into the room wearing a mask and examined my son from a distance. She never came closer to him and appeared to evaluate his skin from approximately a foot away. She asked him a couple of questions and then prescribed medication. That was essentially the entire visit. As a parent, I found the interaction incredibly unprofessional and upsetting, but what bothered me even more was the impact it had on my teenage son. When a young person is already self-conscious about their skin, they deserve to feel that their doctor is comfortable, attentive, and genuinely interested in helping them. Instead, my son was left feeling as though the provider was uncomfortable being near him. A good healthcare provider should establish trust and a connection with their patients, especially when treating teenagers. Patients should never feel as though they are being treated as something to be avoided or feared. If a provider is uncomfortable getting close enough to properly examine a patient's skin, perhaps this is the wrong profession or, at the very least, the wrong setting for them. I expected a professional, compassionate, and thorough evaluation, and unfortunately, that was not what we received. read more

Horrible place! Dirty rooms. I was ready to run out of there. There were used gloves on the floor bloody stains on the counter. The doctor came in sweats pants and top never introduced herself. I had to say: Who are you? Before I knew she had already cut up my skin pimple she never said what it could be or what to do afterwards. I felt like an animal in the worst Vet office! The most dangerous part of this is they never asked my medical history. I never filled out anything except for my personal info. They did not know if I was taking any medications or my allergies. That alone is a huge RED FLAG. Forget about calling them, you will never speak to a person but a computer. Also they have just few MD's and plenty of PA's. My first time here on Sept 6 '23. Wait time was a 4/5. Sophia K. and Dr. Matthew Asmar get a 5/5 for their bedside manner, 5/5 for making me feel comfortable, 5/5 for being great to work with. Overall, 4.75/5, so rounding up to 5/5 because Yelp. I obviously can't speak for anyone else's experiences w/ other doctors here, but Dr. Asmar was great. They listened to my issues, diagnosed my issues, and presented me with viable, helpful solutions to said issues. Would recommend if your insurance is accepted here. I'm glad to have gotten off the lazy susan of dermatologists at Summit Health and can now call Dr. Asmar at Schweiger Dermatology Group my go-to dermatologist. read more

The female PA I saw was so lackluster and incompetent on so many levels, it was absolutely horrific. It was a mistake to listen to the call center who kept me from setting up an appointment with a "real Doctor" but I instead saw some scammy assistant. I got a mole cut off and then they made me pay money to come back in to tell me I had to come back in to get it re-cut off again so they overcharged whenever they can. I had a very positive experience with Dr. Matthew Asmar. He is straightforward and speaks a bit quickly, but he was patient and answered all my questions about the laser operation that was needed. I was informed that it would be a cosmetic procedure that was not covered by insurance, but I was okay with that since it was a simple blood vessel issue that only required laser treatment. Dr. Asmar referred me to Dr. Robert Nossa to perform the procedure the following day. The staff at the clinic set up the appointment and do charge a fee that would go towards the procedure. After doing some research, I found some negative comments about the staff were untrue on Yelp. Everyone at the clinic was professional and focused on their work. My experience with Dr. Robert Nossa was equally positive. He was clear about the procedure and even removed another blood vessel near the surface of my skin at no extra charge. Since it was tinny and a quick zap. Overall, the procedure was quick and the cost was lower than expected. It only took about 20-30 minutes. I will recommend them to anyone seeking similar treatment. I advise doing some research beforehand and listening to the doctor's advice. For me, They genuinely want to help rather than take advantage of your insurance. I had to make an emergency appointment and was fortunate to meet with PA Ayata Kaced. Her bedside manner was the best I had experienced in my 50 years. I forgot the tech who assisted her, but both ladies were the utmost professionals and truly showed empathy and compassion. They really made a painful procedure so much more tolerable, did their best to make me feel comfortable, and were very communicative. Over priced, they often push for pricier meds when you can just buy stuff over the counter far cheaper. Dirty office and not particularly nice workers behind the desk either. This was a terrible experience and I will never return here. To start with the assistant asked me what issues had brought me to the office, and it was complicated - so I told her a general idea, and she typed some of what I said into a tablet. I figured when the doctor arrived they would ask more question and get a full understanding of my concerns. But when the Dr. arrived they did not ask me for any more info, (and immediately make a rude joke about my skin condition). They immediately started examining me, with no questions and barely a hello and through out the whole visit (a few minutes) they seemed in a rush. So, by saving the 90 seconds it would have taken me to tell the doctor who was examining me (instead of the assistant) in detail why I'd scheduled the visit, it seemed to me they removed the actual value of seeing a doctor. Who knows what the assistant actually typed, or if they had the training to understand the problems. if I was a doctor, I'd want to hear the patient's tone of voice and actual choice of words. But, this process seemed part of an assembly line designed to see as many patients as possible in as little time as possible. The Doctor cut off my questions, shrugged off my issues (the ones she addressed) and raced out of there. I was kind of stunned - she never addressed all of my concerns or even had a full understanding of why I'd come there. It was a waste of time and money. read more

Personally, my decision to not return to The Derm Group (Verona) was somewhat difficult due to its proximity to my home. Also, I had seen Dr. Nossa on several occasions and endeavoured to build upon that relationship. My most recent visit however, contributed to making that decision combined with a follow-up email discussion. The lack of training for the office staff began at the patient window. A patient was called for treatment who shared my first name. At that point, I had to get the attention of staff in order to ensure that it was not me who was being called to the exam room. This situation could have been avoided if staff were trained to articulate the first letter of the patient's last name when calling them. Arriving with one (1) suspect lesion and another not potentially so, the injection of lanicane on my forehead for the 2nd mole was painful. I would have preferred an application of liquid nitrogen instead. Also, a second physician appeared in the exam room with Dr. Nossa yet was not introduced; I elected to inquire as to his presence which I believe was not my responsibility. Having the lesions removed, I approached the patient window to indicate that I was leaving. I was handed wound care instructions, had already made my co-payment, and left the building. Once home, I tried to sign-on to the patient portal and learned that staff was supposed to provide me with sign-on info before I left the practice, all of which did not occur. A week or so later, I still had not heard the results of the biopsy. I called and was provided with a verbal response. Following a lengthly phone call with the practice, I was finally able to sign-on to the patient portal to see my results. Ironically, a Registered Letter was sent to me requesting that I return for follow-up care of the one suspect lesion. Clearly, after the site had healed, there was zero evidence of where it existed. Prior to deciding to undergo Mohs surgery, a series of email exchanges between myself and Dr. Nossa occurred wherein I asked, on at least two occasions, for an explanation as to how the original site would be confirmed. A response to that question was never sent to me. Frankly, I needed an explanation as to what method the practice would use to locate the original site prior to performing Mohs or equivalent surgery to remove any remaining suspect cells. It was at that juncture that I decided not to return to The Derm Group. read more

(They did call me back on my way home as it was snowing and they had a cancellation so I turned around). Now, 4 months later, I AM STILL RECEIVING A BILL EVERY MONTH DESPITE THE FACT THAT I PAID IN FULL. Called office after the first bill and they said that they would correct, but I still keep getting bills. Trying to call them today, cannot get a person. For my first time appointment with Dr. Shah and initial visit at this office, I'd like to start off by saying that the staff were very professional and very sweet. My three-year-old daughter and myself went in for a first time check up and some concerns that I had with a small rash on daughters skin. The wait time was between 10 to 15 minutes and they provided us with a iPad to check in. They also gave my daughter some stickers to play with and lollipop. So their attention to having children around was definitely there. Upon going to the room Dr. Shah's bedside manner was very professional and she was very attentive and answered all my questions. She did a thorough check throughout my body and my daughter's body. I a very pleased. Dr. Shah is super sweet! Update: 1st laser treatment with Dr. Shah and it was quick. I've had an awful experience with Schweiger since they took over The Dermatology Group in Verona. Before Schweiger, we were very happy with the Derm Group, especially with how they cared for our young child. However, I went for a cancer screening in December of 2022, was promised I would not get charged for a small biopsy but if I happened to get a bill they would remove it immediately. I was billed, which I assumed was a mistake. It took numerous attempted calls and auto call backs ending with disconnections before I finally reached someone who could help. Instead of dropping the charges, as promised, they submitted a request for review. They never called back with their decision and on my follow up call they submitted another request for review. Now they have sent me to collections. If a practice promises that you will not be charged out of pocket for a service they should stick to it. Otherwise, how can I trust them in the future? Also, the wait was long for my visit, which never happened with The Derm Group. read more

Looking for a new dermatologist in network and came upon this group. Upon calling the Riverdale office they redirected me to the Wayne, NJ office. I never made it in to see a doctor. The receptionist in Wayne had the worst manners and attitude. She was very short with me and spoke down to me in a demeaning way. When asking questions she seemed annoyed and snapped back when she had to repeat something. I understand that someone might be having a bad day but in this field of work you need to keep your attitude I check. I proceeded to call another doctor and had an amazing experience. The look of a business starts with reception- if the culture of this business is anything like the receptionist's attitude then you will have a horrible experience. read more

I absolutely love this place. I had two beauty marks removed, one by Dr. Justin Brown and the other by Dr. Nossa, and both sutures healed beautifully. Both doctors are exteremly attentive, patient, and actually speaks to you as a patient. You feel heard and taken care of. I've also had a series of chemical peels by one of the cosmotologist leaving my skin balanced and smooth. Great experience here. read more

Bad experience. The Dr. came into the room, didn't introduce herself, didn't wash her hands, didn't say what she was about to do, and simply proceeded to check my entire body including underneath my underwear etc without even asking permission. Although I was there for a full scan, it was completely unprofessional to not even introduce herself nor explain that she would be touching intimate parts of my body and to neglect to ask for consent prior to doing so. On top of all of that, the appointment was SO rushed - she was literally trying to leave the room and had one foot out the door while I was trying to ask her important questions that I had. They schedule their patients every 10 minutes and it's absolutely a mill type of practice. Also, side note: they charge $17 per unit of botox which is INSANE. The place I normally go to charges $12 and they're just down the street (literally 1 block away) and they do an amazing job. I will absolutely not be going back to this place and I would not recommend it to anyone. read more

One of the worst experiences ever! I waited and waited weeks to get an answer to a question by Dr. Lara Farhat and never received it. I was told by her assistant I need to make an appointment to have my question asked for my son. I did what they recommended and went to my appointment (which was a few weeks later). My car GPS could not find the location of the office and I kept looking for the office with my toddler in the car and calling them for directions. When I finally used my phone GPS which could found the office, I arrived 20min late and they could not accommodate me even after explaining I was there on time it was just the GPS that could not locate their office. I also told them I'm ready to wait for the doctor, as I arrived late, till she is done with all her patients (she had 2 more patients to see before she leaves) so i can get my question addressed (I was there for just a question and I needed it in a timely matter for my son's preschool), and I already told them I have been waiting for the doctor about this for weeks now and I had to drive 30 min to see her just because she saw my son last time and she moved to a different office. But her front desk (a white lady with blue eyes) did not have a single gram of empathy, did not care, went to ask the doctor to confirm saying the Dr. can not see you. She also did not care about all of what we explained to them and they said you need to reschedule. I respectfully asked to please take into consideration all those factors mentioned above and to accommodate us as we will wait for her to answer our question which will take 5 min at the most. But unfortunately this place did not care about us (we were new patients to the office), no empathy towards a patient (with all the considerations above). We felt racism as we were people of color and this location was a predominantly Caucasian area. Sad, very sad! I don't recommend this place to anybody who is not Caucasian. Not professional, huge lack of customer service, apathetic staff and doctor. Never coming back here, please stay away if you are looking for a place that cares for you. read more

Mr first appointment with Dr. Grauman was fine. She was on time (but it was her first appointment of the day)at 7 am and prescribed medication for acne. After using the Medication I developed a rash around my lips and went back to her. She was 30 minutes late (her second appointment of the day)and then rushed me through it. She prescribed more medicine and told me if it didn't work to come back (to pay another copay) in 2 weeks for a different medicine. I called a few times to which she didn't reply until I called to speak to the manager. After confirming the correct pharmacy to send the script to, the manager called in a new prescription to the wrong pharmacy anyway. Ended up being time consuming, costly and ineffective. Very disappointed. Would NOT recommend. read more

Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. If you do go here, DON'T ask questions about other skin issues you're having if that's not the primary reason for the appointment. They'll bill you a crazy amount without an explanation and when you call to question the amount, they'll essentially tell you the doctor is omnipotent and that there's nothing they can do to change it because that's the code the doctor billed. I am disgusted and absolutely will not be going back. I'm sure I can find an HONEST dermatologist elsewhere. read more

Dr. Shah is incredible. I had clear skin throughout middle school and high school but when I went to college and as an adult, I started getting terrible breakouts. I was embarrassed to go out and see friends and needed real help. Dr. Shah knew exactly what to do - she recommended a topical gel that cleared my acne so quickly. I have been a patient of Dr. Nossa's for several years. I was born with red hair, fair skin and freckles and grew up in Southern California where I was exposed to too much sun. I have had many precancerous spots lasered, along with a regular checkup. Dr. Nossa is very sweet and kind. He is also extremely competent. Despite the fact that the waiting room is always a zoo, they have always taken good care of me. They have many doctors. You may have to wait. Read your emails or bring a book. read more

I had an emergency this morning and called the office and they were able to take me today within a few hours. I saw JoAnn Lane and she was lovely. Her diagnosis was quick and her explanation was clear and concise. I was told an antibiotic would be sent to my pharmacy. It is now 8pm, seven hours since I had my appointment, and the pharmacy has STILL not received my prescription. I called the office four times explaining what happened and was told four times by four different people that they would resend it. I am extremely disappointed with the service I have received since leaving the physician's care early this afternoon. This group is a mess right now and was before Covid. No one answers the phones. Last Fall, I had to physically drive up there to make appointment. I have been trying to make an appointment now and once again almost impossible. I finally got through and the woman wanted my insurance cards before I could schedule appointment. I did not have them with me but said I was an existing patient and would bring them to my appointment. Nope, that was not good enough.
