5 STARS! My wife and I have been learning Latin and ballroom dance with Karmina for 2 years…read more Karmina is skilled in over 20 dances and her teaching style is tailored to each student from beginner to competition level. Her teaching methodology is most conducive to learning and retaining new material in private lessons and group classes. She also provides flexibility with my busy work schedule and teaches in multiple locations including but not limited to King of Prussia, Norristown, Blue Bell, and Phoenixville. We have danced with other instructors at different studios in Southeast PA and out of state; Karmina is clearly the best. From ballroom to club dancing, Karmina teaches it all at a very reasonable price.

My ex and I didn't dance anymore during the marriage but after the divorce i took up personal lessons again and have been learning ever since. Karmina is a fantastic instructor in both abilities to teach and as a highly valued friend. She learns the best ways to teach me and is just as proud of my accomplishments as i am! I heard nice things about this dance studio and a friend of mine sent her kid here, so I gave it a…read moretry. My experience: not so good. From the get go, I felt very uneasy to hand over my 4 year old and have a door locked and have no clue where she is taken to and what is happening to her. No video feed, no window viewing...nothing...Just hope for the best. Facility is attached to a church with possible inner access to dance studios, which also not something I was keen on. Then my 4 year old told me she fell in class and it still hurt. They never said a word about it, and when I made inquiry they brushed it off as it was nothing. They made an effort and posted 1 (ONE!) class on a zoom link recently. During zoom broadcast I saw my daughter being placed right next to some metal tripping hazards and another girl placed pretty close to her. Teacher instructed them to skip sideways, thus girl next to my daughter was crowding out my child into the danger zone. Teacher never even noticed, let alone take remedial measures. They also emailed me my child was not following their strict dress code. I replied we did everything by the book and inquired to point out what we did wrong. They never answered my question and informed me that they un-enrolled us and won't charge next month's tuition. Verdict: Waste of money and energy and added anxiety. My child did enjoy the dancing portion (hence the 2 stars instead of 1), but she did not enjoy getting hurt, nor waiting outside in frigid cold weather while they "get ready" to let them in. (4 minutes before class would start was too early to show up!)..and child must be in tights, thus when coat is not covering legs...it's brutal cold. Not what I had in mind for a 4-5 year old.) I like accountable and courteous. This place was neither. My child deserves better.

Back in 1992, I moved from NYC, where I had been teaching dance for 20 years and trained with top…read moreschools like the Joffrey Ballet School, Broadway Dance Center and others. I trained many dancers who turned pro. When I came here, I could not find good schools close to where we moved. I found this school and it was wonderful. My daughter and I took classes there and were very impressed. It was hard to continue because it was a trip from where we lived, and during the weekdays, I was a single mom of 2, due to my husband's work away from home. I opened my own school, locally, and it was successful for 15 years, until I retired from ownership and passed it onto others. I retired, temporarily, from teaching (since 1973) due to bad knees. Once I had them replaced, I called the owner, who is a colleague of mine who had judged for me at my competition, to take some classes to get back to dance. She asked me to also teach. I've been teaching there and am still so impressed with, not only the professionalism, but the moral and ethics, that match mine, that I find are lacking in some schools, I love working there and how she, and the staff, truly care for the well-being of the dancers. Michelle will not abandon her ethics, just to make a parent, or child, happy. Her standards are too high, thank goodness. I am so happy, after the few years I took off from teaching and dancing, to be at this dance school. I love the fact that their annual student demo concert does not charge fees for costumes, or concert fee. Only ticket sales. It is run beautifully, and I love working with professional teachers who think like me and have the background of excellent training, not just as dancers, but as teachers. If you are looking for an ethical school for your child, or yourself, with people who care more about you than what you can bring to them, this is the place. Thanks, Michelle Wurtz, for bringing me on board, in my later years, and giving me back my passion and the joy of teaching, again.

When the scheduled appointment got closer, I never received confirmation so the morning of, I called to make sure everything was still a go. The studio had told me they accidentally double booked the time they scheduled my fiancé and I for and we would need to reschedule (no biggie). As the rescheduled appointment approached, I called again proactively to make sure the appointment was still taking place and they asked me to reschedule again as the teacher was sick. The third time the appointment was rescheduled (I had to move it out a few days because something with work came up), and I AGAIN called myself the afternoon of the appointment to make sure things were finally a go for that evening, and the person who answered said they double booked our time slot for the THIRD time and that we could join the group class but there was no time for our scheduled individual lesson. I was really looking forward to going to this studio for our lesson but after the third time they messed up their scheduling, I cancelled for good and am taking my business elsewhere. Be prepared for scattered scheduling if you go here.

The standards of musicianship at NBS are very high, and the school does a great job of combining those standards with a supportive and encouraging community ethos. I strongly recommend it for families who are seeking a serious and fulfilling musical education/experience. Quite a few of the students there aspire to and achieve careers in music, but it is also a great place for children (and adults!) who want instrumental music to be an important part, but not the biggest part, of their lives.

Excellent teachers, difficult management and inflexible schedules…read more The teachers are wonderful. The director is extremely talented at music and teaching, but managing a business is not her talent. We had to discontinue our lessons here for a number of reasons. First, it was extremely expensive. Second, it was very difficult to reschedule lessons, and you end up losing money if you can't reschedule within the semester because you still have to pay, even if you didn't get all your lessons. Third, it was very disturbing to receive disrespectful voicemail and email messages from management. It was also annoying to receive multiple emails a day in all caps for lessons and performances that do not even apply to you. All parents receive emails for all instruments and age groups, so it's really annoying to see multiple mass emails a day. You also get nickeled and dimed for every second. There's not even time to chat with the teacher for a few minutes after the lesson because there's another student scheduled and waiting until the second your lesson is over. Some personal anecdotes from this school include being lectured and screamed at over the phone about taking a family trip and having to miss a class, instead of waiting for when the director was in Florida on her vacation.... not only was this disrespectful, but we didn't even miss class or go on vacation, as they mixed us up with a different family. Another anecdote is being charged for lessons that were rescheduled due to the teacher's schedule, only to find that unbeknownst to us, the director hired a substitute teacher 24 hours before the lesson, but we had no idea and then received rude emails and voicemails. Fantastic teachers, but we couldn't handle paying that much money for all the harassment and stress. I'd recommend this school for very serious students who want the teachers enough and are willing to pay top dollar and deal with the management.
