Exceptional and knowledgeable teachers. Pleasant and warm atmosphere. The studio has a long history for training many dancers who went onto professional careers in dance. It has a worthy and wonderful story - a gem to be cherished on the Main Line.

I went on to dance professionally with several ballet companies because of the training that I received from Mr. and Mrs. White, Bryan Koulman, and Melinda Pendleton. The Whites have created a beautiful school in Narberth that so many dancers, and their families, consider a second home. The training is mainly in the Vaganova method, however, each instructor provides a slightly different emphasis. Bryan Koulman is a seasoned choreographer and his classes are both challenging and dynamic. There are several performance opportunities throughout the year, including the Nutcracker and a Spring showcase, which allow students to diligently rehearse and perform regularly. I always appreciated the active adult ballet program, which many schools do not offer, because I could continue coming back to take class long after I had stopped dancing professionally. My mom would even take the adult class throughout my childhood, which I loved. I highly recommend the Pennsylvania Academy of Ballet for both children and adults. This studio strikes the appropriate balance between being a serious training school while also facilitating close friendships among the students.

This place is just different…read more I joined Second Chance Adult Dance School in February 2025. I was made aware of them thanks to an annual event by The Philly Movement Foundation. I attended a dance class preview for free & the class was lead by the school's owner Alyssa. I knew immediately that this place was for me. As soon as you walk through those doors, you're not judged by your age or size or background or level of experience. There is a place for everyone. Everyone was so welcoming. The entire place has an atmosphere of community. The class selections are top tier. The teachers are so warm and willing to answer questions. These last 7 months have been so enjoyable and the accomplishments I've felt have been so rewarding. At my big of almost mid-40s, I now take classes five days a week; I take Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Praise, West African, and Hip Hop. I also take PBT (pilates + ballet) & their Stretch class. All beginner level and I moved onto my first intermediate class for Tap. Every week I'm excited to see what is in store for me. As someone who works from home, this place not only gets me more active, but allows me an amazing social connection & networking experience with likeminded individuals. You can tell how much Alyssa loves what she does and she hires & surrounds herself with people who care just as much. I hope I'll be able to participate here so long that I move on over to the "Silver" class for the "more seasoned" crowd hahaha. This place is just different. Love this place. My 14 year-old just signed up for her third year. What really sets Freestyle apart…read moreis that it's truly all about the love of dance. While there is a competitive dance team that students can audition for, the week-to-week class focus is on learning and dancing. We've tried other schools in the past and I usually end up feeling like the kids spend the whole year planning for a huge, expensive, loooong recital. Here, the year ends with a dance showcase that is warm and friendly and reasonably priced to attend and to participate in (no expensive costumes that your kids will only wear once). Colleen is an amazingly talented, patient, and enthusiastic teacher. Tony, the owner, is just a super great guy. The whole staff is very friendly and they seem to get along like a family. Give Freestyle a try!

The kids played in the fantasy fun zone for a while and played games inside the dance studio. Awesome party! Would 100% have it there again!

The Wednesday morning class is a joy. The dancers are a nice mix ranging from students who danced as children, to others who more recently have realized an adult dream come true, college students earning degrees, people who seek an outstanding form of fitness, as well as active and retired dancers enjoying their craft. Altogether it is a healthy mix of upbeat, friendly, supportive people. When I am there, the problems of the world drop away. And when I leave, I feel exhilarated and ready for anything. Jeannie H.

Through the many years since, we have always found this to be a very friendly, professional, well run gym. Dave Evasew and Michelle Elbin, the owners, are friendly, approachable, enthusiastic and receptive. The coaches have all been excellent, and our child has gained both confidence and skill under their instruction. What is nice is that if you have a child interested in dance and a child interested in gymnastics, they can both attend classes, often simultaneously, and there are multiple family member discounts. I can't say about the dance program as dearest child has not taken any classes.

I felt dismissed, spoken to in a condescending manner, and there was little empathy or professionalism when I raised a concern. It was clear that respectful communication with parents was not a priority. Another concern was seeing counselors on their cell phones during pickup instead of actively supervising the children. As a parent, it was unsettling to see staff distracted rather than focused on the kids in their care. Good customer service and child supervision should be fundamental expectations for any camp. Unfortunately, this experience left me feeling disrespected and without confidence in the level of care being provided. I hope the center takes this feedback seriously and improves both its customer service and staff professionalism.
