"Dancing is surely the most basic and relevant of all forms of expression. Nothing else can so…read moreeffectively give outward form to an inner experience."-Lyall Watson In the current world climate of growing-up-to-soon, dance offers a safe place to both embrace a child's youthfulness while growing self expression and raising positive values. Through both the art of dance and the lessons throughout dance class, Kathi's has an unequivocal influence on your child's future. The commitment to both dance and academics is not for every child or family, but my daughter is not every child and Kathi's Dance Studio (Morton, PA) is more than a dance school. Kathi and her administration treat their students like family. Years at Kathi's for both my daughters and I have been invaluable. My firstborn went to Kathi's, inspiring my youngest to try. My shy introverted child has become confident and fearless. She has grown socially and emotionally balanced, service-oriented and helpful - a true role model to other students. She applies the techniques learned through both a choreographic and creative process. Growth at Kathi's doesn't have an age limit: parents are encouraged to participate. As a dance mom, I am a witness to the remarkable qualities of Ms. Kathi and her unparalleled commitment to the children at her school and the craft she has loved passionately her whole life. Life requires more than just participation; it requires dedication. As a parent, I want to instill in my children that life is much more than a paycheck on a Friday. Giving the gift of dance, truly teaches the art of vigor. Give your child just that, one pirouette at a time.

Our teacher was lovely and made me aware of sensory stim for my child. Next, we used Kardon Institute in Northeast for Music Therapy. She loved it. We traveled over 60 miles on a Saturday during rush hour. It was inconvenient. Finally, we signed our daughter up at Kardon Northeast for dance therapy. This was a great opportunity to dance with a professional creative dance movement therapist and meet new friends with Down Syndrome. Unfortunately, the studio crashed with Covid. Hoping to reestablish lessons. Germantown has a great teacher for dance as well! Watched her recital. YEs, Kardon had a recital and special environment to help my shy special needs child shine.

I went on to dance professionally with several ballet companies because of the training that I received from Mr. and Mrs. White, Bryan Koulman, and Melinda Pendleton. The Whites have created a beautiful school in Narberth that so many dancers, and their families, consider a second home. The training is mainly in the Vaganova method, however, each instructor provides a slightly different emphasis. Bryan Koulman is a seasoned choreographer and his classes are both challenging and dynamic. There are several performance opportunities throughout the year, including the Nutcracker and a Spring showcase, which allow students to diligently rehearse and perform regularly. I always appreciated the active adult ballet program, which many schools do not offer, because I could continue coming back to take class long after I had stopped dancing professionally. My mom would even take the adult class throughout my childhood, which I loved. I highly recommend the Pennsylvania Academy of Ballet for both children and adults. This studio strikes the appropriate balance between being a serious training school while also facilitating close friendships among the students.
