One of the best kept secrets in South Beach is Swoop !!…read more People living on the beach are notorious for not wanted to leave the beach. Why would we all the cool stuff is here already and we don't need to pay for parking, walk most of the time or we could take a cheap cab ride or we can SWOOP !!! Swoop is a slightly pimped up electric golf cart that you can call to pick you up from any bar or night club on the beach and they will take you to the next bar or restaurant or even drop you off at your apartment building or hotel. They will also take you on late night Pizza runs too. The best part is that the price is FREE !! The only ask for tips and semi decent behavior while riding in the car. FREE rides from noon to 2 am from 1st street to 26th street and Ocean Drive to the bay but I have them out later on weekends. It seats 5-6 comfortably and be prepared to wait awhile on a busy night but still so much more fun that a DUI. Last time I was on there, I has a guy with a big ass snake riding in the front seat while my friend was yelling " SWOOP SWOOP SWOOP " and we hit Dewey's, Ted's and 8 Ounce all in one night for only $5 to the driver. We called from each place when we were done and SWOOP appeared. So go ahead and put that number in your cell now because even you come from the mainland you can park your one place and have SWOOP drive you around in open golf cart style for the night.

The stations always smells of urine and the elevators are outdated. While I am sure they pass inspection yearly, they could still use an upgrade. For one they are way too small. When my son was stroller age, I could barely fit his stroller in the elevator. The wheels were barely able to fit through the elevator doors. Transportation itself is ok as long as the trains are not late or stuck on the track. Perhaps this was the motivation to replace the older the trains for newer ones. While I have seen the implementation of newer trains, all trains have not been replaced. I rode two older trains today that reeked of urine and were a little dirty. I am happy to see that they upgrading the trains however. I hope they keep that same energy and give the metro rail stations a makeover.

The ride going to Freeport was a bit choppy but crew was ready to assist any passengers that were experiencing sickness. Duty free shop on boat had good deals. Food was decent for being on a boat and drinks were strong and reasonably priced. Return boarding at Freeport was again east and fast considering I got there at 530. Boat on return was more lively with a dj getting the more lively passengers to dance and select songs. Needless to Soul train line was formed. Even passengers who didn't get seemed entertained watching others dancing. Once back at Fort Lauderdale the process was a bit more lengthy depart given there were only two agents checking passports. Yes faster to fly but if going in a group or maybe you find a deal I would recommend as a nice alternative to Freeport.

Lauderdale and you wait in customs for a hour, once you get out of customs it is 12am at night and the port is closed there are taxi Take the taxi, if you uber they won't let uber in the port after 10pm you will be stranded had to walk the whole port to get out of it to get a uber to pick us up didn't get home till 2:30am in the morning. The Metrorail comes in here but over the last thirty years as the City of Miami has evolved so has their central station. Years ago it was Government Center and I would connect to the metro mover. Now as Downtown has changed this truly is the main station. I come into here from Miami Airport to get to Downtown. Also it backs up into Brightline which is around the corner literally steps away. Lastly all the City buses come through here around the building there is a place a block up for the buses that go 595, in front of the building is buses going every ten minutes or so to the Golden Glades than a few steps from that at the side entrance to Metrorail is the 95 express buses. This place is literally a pu pu platter for all your transportation needs in and out of the City of Miami. I highly recommend it as parking is getting increasingly harder to find as well as expensive. You can get monthly passes which make it even more affordable if you come here daily as I do. Also across the way is a brand new Einstein's for a quick morning bite. It is very well lite in the area so don't let the name Overtown fool you it seems very safe. So far so good.
