Overall... the environment in this tasting room is welcoming, comfortable, & just beautiful. Friendliest tasting room in Los Olivos... they set the standard very high! I have been here MANY times before and have had similar experiences each time-- you get to interact with the owners, their family, and their amazing friends/staff. They take time to get to know you as a customer-- it leaves an impression for sure. Elle was AMAZING! She took her time with us and we did not feel rushed getting through our tasting. She's super sweet, gave us space, but also wanted to hear our stories. Zach (the owners's cousin) also gave such a wonderful addition to our time there with history and knowledge of the grapes they use, the reasons their wines are unique, and the creativity throughout the ENTIRE winemaking process-- from vine to bottle label. Best wine & experience we had in the valley over a three day trip! WE WILL BE BACK!

I've only had great experiences here. They're always so welcoming and kind. Every time I visit Los Olivos I always make it a point to end at Waylan. For a few reasons.. their wines are great, the ambiance is calming, staff is lovely, and their bathroom is always clean. Most recently I visited on a rainy Saturday and it just felt so cozy inside. Since it was raining I assume the area was a bit of a ghost town so we walked right in without a reservation. We arrived close to 5pm but that was no problem! (Though I wouldn't necessarily encourage it) I did warn my friends there could be a chance we wouldn't be seated but not only did they seat us, they met us with appreciation and kindness as always. We ordered a bottle of wine and split between 4 people. The staff kept checking on us and reminded us more than once to enjoy ourselves with no rush. Simply a perfect experience. Thanks guys! X

First off I want to say, we almost didn't come to this wine company because we originally chose a different spot that I found on Yelp. We texted our good friends whom come to Los Olivos often, and they recommended "Waylan's". Along with reading the excellent reviews on Yelp, we were sold! We arrived around 230ish and it wasn't crowded. We brought some sandwiches from across the street and cupcakes from S & S and paired them with their 6 sample wine tasting. We met the first owner Brad Wayne and he was very friendly and informative. His eyes are so gorgeous like Caribbean Sea, you can't miss him. The first thing I asked him was, what does Waylan stands for because I like to know the history and background of a unique name. Brad explained to me that Waylan stands for his middle name, "Wayne" and his brother Greg's middle name, "Alan" Get it? Blend the two names together and you get "Waylan"! Super clever and unique. My favorite was the rose & cinsault. And my husband liked the Syrah, and Chenin blanc. We were then greeted by Doug and he was very helpful with which wines tasted good with certain food. The other owner Zack showed up an hour later and introduced himself to us. He was also very friendly and resourceful. I loved their decor and landscape and he helped me out with with a certain hedge plant that I liked. He even wrote it out for me;) What is really neat is that the two brothers recently had babies: Zack had a baby girl named Olive and Brad had a baby boy named Brooks and they are months apart! What we really loved about this place is the kind "at home" family feeling of feeling welcome. & at home. Almost like coming over to a family's home type of feeling. We also met Zack their cousin and their father. Right when we saw him, we automatically said you must be the dad. We knew he was their dad with one glance of his pretty blue eyes. They were all just the kindest peeps we ever did meet. We knew after our wonderful wine tasting experience that we wanted to be wine club members here. There was no pressure on their behalf. We thought it would be nice to have some nice wine at our home during our anniversary and holidays. We can't wait to come back and bring our friends and celebrate our 15 year wedding anniversary and birthdays and bring our cute puppy and leave our kiddos at home with the grandparents again ;) We left with matching comfy sweatshirts and wine glasses. The wine glasses are so classy looking. We just lost our almost 19-year old kitty cat so this was much needed. Thank you Waylan's for making our couples retreat weekend relaxing and memorable. We can't wait until our next visit with you all. Nice people still do exist and you are proof.

We were lucky to make it before they closed for the day and had a great experience. Wine was reasonably priced and made to great taste. The inside is nice and roomy and felt like we were apart of the family. Overall great service as well and a great experience. Recommend going if you're in the area!

We LOVE this gem in Los Olivos! We discovered them when they were brand new several years ago and have been members since! We always suggest them to our friends and are always bringing them here with us! The owners are really great and it's been awesome watching them grow! The wine is always good! Even the whites, which is not our go to! We have never been disappointed in our visits or the wines we take home!

One of the most sheikh interiors that resembles more of a airbnb rental than a wine tasting room and we love it! The people running the place are so hospitable and friendly so the airbnb feel fits perfectly. They lots of outdoor seating along with a great porch that looks out onto the street which is perfect for some sippy sippy and people watching. I in no way consider myself a wine connoisseur but the wine here was terrific. We'll be back.

This wine tasting room has the best of wines and customer service. From the whites to the reds all of their wines are amazing! The team members working there are friendly and engaging (Zack you're the best!) and make you feel welcome.

Me and my husband Have been Waylan Wine club members for little under a year , and we joined right after our first tasting . I can honestly say out of all the wineries on the central coast from Los olivos to Paso they are the most friendly , amazing wine club to be apart of. So often we are treated not so great once we have joined a club ..... not the case at waylan they treat club members and anyone who walks in the door like family . We had the pleasure of having a tasting room attendant by the name of Doug help us out this past weekend and it was an incredibly welcoming and enjoyable experience! Nobody leaves good reviews , most only feel compelled to state the bad but Doug deserved a great review he made our afternoon really wonderful and entertaining. Highly recommend their wines and minimal commitment with lots of rewards club !

Try the GSM blend! So good!

We had a great time today tasting wine and listening to the stories about geo Waylan does wine. We headed up from Santa Barbara and brought our dog Kyler with us. The tasting room is well decorated and has such a nice ambiance! Zach introduced each wine we had for tasting and we felt like we really got to know Waylan very well. So glad our friends recommended Waylan to us, we had a great time and the wines are seriously sooo good! We brought home two bottles to enjoy later!

Corey was AWESOME! My boyfriend and I went in on a rainy Monday evening without a Resy and were greeted, seated and felt extremely welcome. This place is super cozy and clean which made getting comfortable, very easy! Corey was serving our tastings and he was extremely knowledgeable about the wines and made us feel like we were home. Needless to say, we became members right after our first visit! Totally worth it. I can't wait to go back! 10/10 recommend!

Carhartt Family Wines gets five stars for being the only tasting room in Los Olivos that stays open…read morepast 6:00. It was the first of five tastings we did during our weekend in town, and the wines were, admittedly, the least impressive. They went down easy, though, and we had a pleasant visit. We checked into our hotel on Friday around 5:30 and quickly realized that all the wineries on our list were closed. We asked the receptionist where we might be able to do a tasting, and she said Carhartt was our best bet. It was quite open when we walked in, almost intimidatingly so, the live music loud as we rounded the sidewalk outside the enclosed patio. Jack welcomed us into the tasting room and suggested we do a vibe check on the patio before deciding where to sit. We peeked outside and it seemed fun in a way we weren't looking for, a bit of a party atmosphere with a live band and a lot of people. We took our seats in the quieter tasting room, where we were able to enjoy the music from a distance while we drank some wine. We both did the house tasting, which came with five pours of Carhartt wines: the 2024 Top Branch, the 2022 Sin Nada, the 2022 Sangiovese, the 2022 Rebel Roan, and the 2020 Northerly. Jack also gave us a taste of the 2021 Graciano. They were all nice wines, but we particularly liked the Sin Nada, the Sangiovese, and the Graciano, and took home two bottles of each, getting one $25 tasting fee waived with each purchase of three bottles. Jack was a great host, and he told us all about the wines and winery as we went along. (He pre-empted our first question, saying that yes, they were the same Carhartts as the Carhartt clothing label, but not the same company. I guess just the classic generational wealth to winemaking pipeline.) It was a helpful introduction to both the Carhartt wines and Los Olivos, and Jack was good company. I said Carhartt was the least impressive of the wineries we visited, but it's also worth noting that it had the lowest price point. Carhartt isn't gunning for Robert Parker ratings. The wines are accessible and tasty, and I have a feeling we'll go through our bottles very fast.

This place has everything you'd hope for in a wine tasting experience: cozy, welcoming atmosphere and everyone is genuinely cheerful from the moment you walk in. Owner-operated by Mike and Brooke, alongside their son, Chase -- they truly are the heart and soul of the winery. The entire staff are warm, attentive, incredibly knowledgeable, and so friendly it feels like you're visiting old friends rather than a tasting room. Even better, they stay open later than many spots in town, making it the perfect place to linger, unwind, and savor the experience just a little longer. Every detail is meticulous, from the beautiful atmosphere in their back patio to the way they guide you through each pour. They take the time to explain the wines without ever making you feel rushed, and their passion shows in every conversation. An experience defined by outstanding service, lovely wines, and a warm, easygoing vibe. And as an added bonus, they're wonderfully dog-friendly -- making it even more welcoming for everyone. Overall, it's hands-down the best place in Los Olivos. It's definitely my go-to whenever I'm in town, and I genuinely look forward to visiting a few times a year. Carhartt Family Wines never disappoints -- it's an experience as wonderful as the wine itself.

They offer a complimentary olive oil tasting, allowing you to truly appreciate the depth and character of each variety. The fresh bread served alongside the tasting is crafted from scratch in nearby Los Alamos at Bob's Well Bread Bakery, and it is delicious. A few of my personal favorites were the Santa Ynez, Garlic, and Habanero olive oils. The Garlic was so outstanding that I immediately purchased a bottle to take home. It is incredibly versatile. The setting itself is just as memorable as the tasting. There is ample charming outdoor seating beside a small creek, and the gentle sound of flowing water creates a peaceful, almost meditative atmosphere. The vibes are truly immaculate. Inside, the shop is beautifully styled and filled with thoughtfully selected gifts and, of course, an impressive array of olive oils available for purchase. Hayley (sorry if it's spelled wrong) was especially warm and helpful, making the visit feel welcoming. They also offer WiFi, which allowed us to linger a bit longer and get some work done. It is rare to find a place that combines quality, hospitality, and atmosphere so seamlessly.

We were in Los Olivos this past weekend and visited Stolpman on Saturday for a leisurely afternoon…read moretasting. I booked our spot in advance and would recommend you do the same. The place is casual and not tiny, but it definitely fills up. I don't think they were taking walk-ins while we were there. The tasting room--or tasting patio, I suppose--was really pleasant, a breezy outdoor space in front of a charming brick-red house with a strong Los Olivos aesthetic. My only complaint is that the bathroom was a porta-potty, though it was the nice kind, with running water. We got our own table and a friendly, knowledgeable young server brought us our wines and explained what we were drinking. He was busy, so this was one of the less in-depth tastings we did on this trip, but the experience was easy and enjoyable. There were two tastings on offer, the classic estate flight and the "fresh and esoteric." Since this was our first visit, we both went with the estate, and it was a great introduction to Stolpman's wines. We tried the 2025 Sauvignon Blanc, the 2024 Chenin Blanc, the 2024 La Cuadrilla, the 2023 Sangiovese, and the 2024 Angeli, the label's flagship Syrah. They were all excellent and very well priced--the Cuadrilla goes for $26. It's also a delicious wine with a cool provenance, a red blend made by Stolpman's vineyard workers on a designated block, in what looks to be a successful profit sharing project. The tasting fee was $25, waived with a three-bottle purchase. We snapped up three each of the Sauvignon Blanc and the Sangiovese, which cost $24 and $36 a bottle. Tremendous value for such outstanding wines. I have a feeling we'll go through these quickly, and may be tempted to join the wine club if we do. Either way, though, I hope to go back to Stolpman. I'm definitely curious about that second tasting.
