Very cozy vibe on their outside patio- which came with complimentary blankets. Overlooking the pond while it was raining was actually fairly peaceful. They didn't have food- so we did the wine tasting and our designated driver had some honey root beer which was interesting. The person who helped us was very kind (I didn't get her name). Beckmen was our first stop on our second day of wine tasting. Not only do they have great wine, you get to enjoy it in beautiful surroundings. The place offers plenty of seating, a pond, farm, vines, etc. The service was friendly, they even gave us an extra pour. Of course we didn't leave without a couple of bottles of our favorites. I have always loved Beckman wine and the service and knowledge of staff has been impeccable. However, I did not have a good experience yesterday. We had a group of 8 people. The service was slow( I had to ask them to come with our next tasting every time). Our server forgot what tasting we were on. We ended up having to leave before our last tasting as we had reservations at another winery. $30 a tasting is a lot of money. I hope they improve their staff or they will lose me as a customer. read more

The winery is a beautiful spot to bring a picnic lunch, they have a covered patio with lots of tables along with some gazebos. Not sure if you reserve those, but you have to call for a reservation anyway so I guess you can ask. Our server was great...young and recently graduated from SLO, which has a good wine program. He was very knowledgeable and very enthusiastic. Definitely worth finding this outstanding vineyard. read more

I looked ahead and picked a great weekend to visit Beckmen Vineyards in January. The weather was perfect for sitting out on the patio with sandwiches that we bought in town. Now for the wine... Aaron was fantastic - he described the wines well and helped us fall in love. Every grape is grown by them. The tasting was impressive. Beckman is your quintessential winery in Santa Ynez. Located on a gorgeous property, full of lush greenery and ponds, it's a perfect backdrop for taking pictures or to relax and unwind. The tasting room is small but there's a large patio with lots of seating, as well as other picnic spots if you want to bring lunch and enjoy a bottle of wine. The wine is delicious, I especially enjoyed the Grenache. The wine staff is very knowledgeable about the wines and other fun facts about the area. It's a lovely spot to enjoy your day! read more

New addition to our favorite wineries list! Wanted to introduce my in-laws to a new winery every time they are in town, and Beckmen was the one for their visit this time. The pictures of the gazebo, the little ponds, the water lilies are what peaked my interest! It took me a bit of calculation to see what would be the best option or the biggest bang for my bucks to come here, and I went with the gazebo. Which requires the purchase of 1 bottle per 2 persons. Between us 3 adults and 1 toddler (he didnt have any wine of course!), we finished half a bottle, and took 1.5 bottles home, which were more than any tasting we have done. The view and the wines are excellent! The service is friendly, but be prepared for a little wait if you're at the gazebo. It looks like they only have 2 servers most of the time. 1 tending the bar/inside, and 1 outside for the covered deck. However, the plus side of being in the gazebo is your own private spot that can accommodate up to 8 people, and you can your own picnic here with food brought in from outside. We got lucky and was able to see the grapes being crushed/processed our first time here! Our toddler was also so happy and fascinated seeing the forklifts and tractor they have on site. Not a member, since we are not big wine drinkers, but we look forward to come back here soon for the view and taste some new wines!a read more

Beckmen is such a lovely place! We reserved a gazebo and had a spot right on the water with a barn in the backyard. Absolutely stunning. For the gazebos, you have to buy two bottles, and the staff was kind enough to let us taste a few before deciding. The guy helping us was really off. He was describing the Grenache and I had to let him know he was actually pouring us Syrah. He didn't seem to know up from down and it made the experience and communication quite confusing. There was a pretty long wait between ordering bottles and having them come out. We offered to carry the bottles and glasses down ourselves to help, but they insisted on delivering them to us. Expect to be there 2+ hours if you have a gazebo. The wines themselves are lovely, I loved the Grenache and was impressed with some of the red blends as well. And you can't beat the gazebo and the view! I will be back for the wine and the setting and am hoping the staff member who helped us was just having an off day! He was kind, just a bit confused. read more

Place has a folksy vibe and not pretentious as none of the wineries in the SY or Temecula region should be. Had a complimentary tasting as a result of staying at the Genevieve. My wife did the tasting and I listen and ask questions. Apparently they make 40 different wines (that's alot as far as I can tell). Nice ride into the winery but could have used some better signage. In addition to making 40 different wines they make so many that you can find them at an Albertsons, Total Wine etc. they grow all their grapes and only use their own grapes which seems unusual for many wineries nowadays. They own more acres than maybe any other SB winery. The wines were nice and she liked them better than Gainey, Roblar and Sunstone. The tasting consisted of mostly light whites, and some light reds. The overall experience was closer to a 3.75 but Yelp doesn't do that. It's worth a visit in the area but found most Paso wineries were better with richer reds. I pay attention to the restroom facilities at these wineries as they are often very very nice. Beckman could do an upgrade or at least change out the fixture. read more

First, full disclosure, I am a member here because I love their red wines so much, I have to have a steady supply. With that out of the way, I return to my usual review, already in progress. There are several places here for wine tasting. There is a small, air conditioned, bar like area when you first walk in, but it only has around 20 stools total. If you continue through the bar area, there is a covered patio area that seats many more. They also have patio seating near their large pond, or you can reserve one of their picnic gazabos near the pond. The gazabos do not have wine tasting, only bottle service, and you need to bring your own picnic or snacks since they do not sell them there. On to the wine and why I am a member. Their whites are usually in the very good category, but many other places have very good white wines too. It's their red wines. They have their own vineyards, make their own wine, and their reds are some of the best I have ever tasted. If you love red wine, this is a must stop for you. Trust me! read more

Highly recommend doing the wine tour and tasting with Tom! As an amateur wine drinker I really enjoyed his simple breakdown of the wine process and seeing all the wine barrels and fermentation process. Beautiful winery with a lot of seating area. They have gazebos which are perfect for family picnics or couple getaways. My husband and I go to Santa Barbara wine country a lot from LA and never been here before. We stopped by because we were driving by it and didn't realize that you need to have reservations. We couldn't stay but I would have loved to try their wines. It wasn't that busy but I guess rules are rules. So we left. Hopefully I can make reservations on our next trip. read more

Beautiful grounds and delicious wines. I was last at this winery over 25 years ago and it sure has changed. We had made reservations and they were confirmed by the winery but when we arrived the staff couldn't find our reservations. Thankfully it wasn't a busy day and they were able to get us in. Our host was friendly but I wish she would have shared more about the history of the winery so my mother and mother in law could have some background knowledge to the winery and how it all started. When it was time to pay for our wines and the our tastings I was using my debit card and our host told me it would be better to leave cash for the tip because it would go directly to her. I am aware how tipping works and I felt that she was a bit presumptuous about her tip. read more

I made reservation using Tock. Their website and Tock description both indicated "deposit" of $50 for picnic reservation, with minimum three bottle purchase. I'm disappointed to tell you all that this deposit wasn't a deposit at all -- it was $50 "rental fee". They don't talk about anything regarding the rental fee on any of the website or Tock. I would've much preferred to have known in the first place that the "deposit" is actually a rental fee for the gazebo/picnic rental. This is misleading, ambiguous, and deceptive. I am very disappointed that this winery doing such things, when they have so much more to offer. Their property is beautiful and peaceful. Their wine is ooookkk, considering the price. There are so many great wineries nearby that offers better wine for the price, more beautiful and modern facility (without "rental" fee). I do need to tell you that this place is worth $50 to rent out the gazebo. I'm just not happy that they've used deceptive words and marketing towards booking the gazebo reservation. Again, the word "deposit" is highly misleading. (Just say there is $50 rental fee, that is not refundable.) While I really enjoyed my time at beckmen vineyards, I can't help but to feel cheated by their misleading and deceptive marketing. There really are better choices in Los Olivos region. read more

The photos in Yelp do not do the beauty and charm of this vineyard justice. The staff were so friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. It had a very family run vibe. We took a tour with Kip on a Saturday morning which turned out to be so much better than we had imagined. Kip was the best - knowledgeable, friendly and very personable. He showed us the vineyards, the fermentation rooms and the barrel room before heading back to the tasing room where he seated us out on a lovely deck overlooking the vineyards. The wines were lovely and Kip stuck with us for the tasting. We really enjoyed our morning with him. We bought a few bottles for ourselves and friends before leaving. What a perfect morning. I've heard good things about Beckmen so I def wanted to try this place out. I made a reservation via email for myself and my group of 6. No tour, just tasting. The tasting was $20 for each of us. The grounds are nice with the little pond area and the outdoor seating. When we went, a lot of people brought their dogs! I too brought my pooch, but he doesn't get along with other dogs too well, so we had to keep him on a short leash. We also brought a couple of our snacks to have while drinking the wine. There's plenty of tables and chairs to chill and eat. It seemed like they were a little short staffed, but nonetheless, everyone here was super nice and knowledgeable. Overall: Def glad I checked this place out, but tbh I have a couple other wineries that I prefer in this area. read more

I've been going up to Santa Ynez for years trying out many of the wonderful vineyard wine tastings. I have a few favorites that I keep coming back to. Beckmen is one that has a very diverse selection to try and there's always something I must bring home. Cuvee, blanc, syrah, cabs... they're all fantastic. My friend and I sat out on the patio.
