The Cotton Warehouse - Amazing finds.

    The Cotton Warehouse

The venue was beautiful. That's about the best thing about their service. I am a professional chef,…read moreand the food was absolute shit. The chicken was over seasoned, the carrot soufflé was too sweet, the green beans were from a can and over seasoned. The best thing on the buffet line was the kids food. I know this because they had to place one of the managers beside the table to turn the adults away. They need to fire their head chef and hire someone who knows how to cook a proper meal. The managers were rude, the rolls were dry. The salad was the best part, but it's hard to screw up salad. So they know how to mix a good salad. The dressings weren't freshly made and tasted like they came out of the bottle.

Great location posted 10/31/2011…read more When I saw The Cotton Warehouse on the internet, I knew this was the location for us! With my husband's work revolving around the cotton industry mixed with our desire to have a less traditional wedding, nothing could beat the rustic, beautiful space we found here. We booked the space immediately! I am a very low key, casual, down to earth person that is very low maintenance and easy to work with. I found the staff of the Warehouse to match our personalities perfectly. I now know that might have been to our demise. Communication was a very big problem with dealing with the staff. Phone calls were not returned, emails were answered but not in full. I actually received a text message from Jakob's assistant telling me that she was off that day, and to call Jakob if I needed anything. The point of the call was telling her I wasn't having any luck getting in touch with him! This same assistant, Krystal I believe, was also the same person calling me 2 days before the wedding asking me what food we'd like to serve when we ordered the food 6 months prior! Also, we were under the impression that Jakob would be at the wedding since he stated "if you need anything else, I'll be there". He was not. And even though she did a great job, he left someone (very young) in charge that I had never even met or had been informed of. We also were left with no water the day of the wedding and were told "we won't charge you for it", rather than "sorry we'll go get some immediately". We had dropped off every other beverage 24 hours before the wedding and were told by the bartender "I told Jakob there was no water" and Jakob responded "it wasn't in their contract". Well, neither was ice and we were given that. So basically they knew about it and didn't contact us so we could be prepared. Completely unprofessional and intentional. We also had difficulties with the speaker system, and that was when we discovered Jakob wasn't there. When he did arrive, his demeanor was very annoyed and he acted like we had inconvenienced him! We also were hit with extra fees at the last minute that were not expected. Overall, I really hope this company does better because the space is impeccable and there is nothing else like it in this area. It has amazing potential, but the staff needs to iron out it's kinks. It took me 4 months to write this review, because I wanted to be able to do it without so much emotion. I was sent the review link with an email that said, and I quote, "the better the review, the better the restaurant gift card". I do not do well with being bribed into a good review. I find it very tacky. I would rate this one star, but the space was so great we'll give it 2.

This charming spot looks absolutely adorable from the outside, and I couldn't wait to check out the inside! The server was super friendly and came right over to our table with the menus. He asked us what type of tea service we'd like and which teas we wanted to try. It felt like a nice, welcoming start to our experience! We both ordered the tea service that included chicken salad on a toasted croissant. It was very delicious indeed. The desserts were well-portioned and just the right size. The atmosphere was enchanting, adorned with an array of elegant Victorian hats inviting guests to don them while enjoying their tea. I selected a stunning large purple brim hat that accented my outfit beautifully. Each table was thoughtfully set, featuring charming vases brimming with fresh, vibrant flowers that added a touch of warmth and color to the scene. I definately will be going back in the near future. The chicken salad in the toasted croissant was amazing and the pimento cheese with maple bacon will be in my dreams. So good! The white chocolate biscoff cheesecake was incredible. Worth the drive!!

To be honest, it's very nerve racking because I am not a professional photographer. I'm just a dad who has a really nice camera because I got tired of getting fuzzy photo's while on vacation with my wife and children. Even though I can't see myself doing this for a living, I'm always honored when people I know trust me with such an important day. My friends got married here last weekend and out of the 4 weddings I've been asked to be the lead photographer, this place has to be my favorite location. Quaint is defined as having an old-fashioned attractiveness or charm; oddly picturesque. Thompson House and Gardens is the quintessential poster child for the word quaint. From a photographer's standpoint, they offer beautifully manicured lawns with a variety of venues scattered around the grounds for prime photo opportunities. Sweeping lawns, fountains, Roman gazebo and even an old west saloon make for fun photos. Also, the house has a wraparound porch and the rear is equipped with a long rustic outdoor bar, barn-like shed, adorable mini-guest house and vine covered trellis walkway. The outdoor setting for a lawn wedding is as romantic as I've ever seen and the reception hall is picture perfect for both dining and dancing. The wedding party used the upper part of the home for pre-wedding preparations and privacy. Since the event was catered, there was no need for the kitchen, but there is one available. THE VERDICT It is absolutely beautiful here! Every guest I spoke with was in complete awe of this place, including myself. My wife and I have been considering renewing our vows for our 15th Anniversary next year and Thompson House & Gardens is going to be tops on my list. If you are looking for an excellent venue for your wedding, I highly recommend you consider hosting it here.
