I had a great experience at the Wayfair flagship store in Wilmette. It's like an elevated, grown-up version of IKEA! The space is modern and inviting, and the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. What really sets it apart is being able to see, feel, and even sit on pieces before buying--especially for big purchases like a couch. Seeing colors and materials in person made decision-making so much easier. Plus, it's conveniently located right off the highway. now, if you're looking to pick up something immediately, it's not always going to be available and usually shipped to you but there's plenty of items like dishes and flatware glasses other types of smaller products that are available within store. One other nice to have is that you are able to return site certain items to the store directly and avoid expensive shipping charges that Wayfair likes to charge when you return things. First let me say I have never been to the physical store. I am more reviewing the online side of the business. I have been ordering from Wayfair now for about 4 years. So far everything I have purchased is still holding up strongly. The prices are good. I have gotten everything from outdoor folding chairs to toilets to a full power reclining sectional. And lots in between. Now do they sell so items that are of questionable quality, sure just like everyone else, but even things that I questioned are still holding up well. I will continue to order online from them. The biggest item I have ordered was a dual sink bathroom vanity, this thing weighed around 500 or so pounds so I paid for room delivery and had them put it in my upstairs master bathroom, all I can say is the 3 guys the put it upstairs earned that extra $150. I could have never gotten it up there. Worth every penny and I still love the way it looks. read more

I really enjoyed checking out Wayfair! This took over what was once Lord & Taylor (IYKYK), and I didn't know how massive and organized this place was going to be! The different sections, such as the furniture, outdoor items, bedding/bath, rugs, decor/pillows, lighting, organization tools, kitchen appliances, small appliances, and even items for pets! We really enjoyed looking at the mock restrooms and kitchens, providing ideas on the color scheme and the style, with the lighting fixtures, the tiles, and the finish. Prices are comparable to what you'll see online, but there were some seasonal sales going on. If you get a hankering to nosh, The Porch, which is their casual restaurant, offers coffee, teas, soups and salads, handhelds, and an all-day brunch menu. Love the huge store where you can look at the furniture before you order it. I was in the market for a new dresser, I looked all over that store and finally found a sturdy and well-made one. I paid and it was a full delivery which means they will deliver the item and install it in any room of the house for you. Glad they had this service as I have narrow stairs and they came and carefully moved it to the bedroom. Highly recommend and please choose full delivery as it is worth any extra charge. I inadvertently ordered two of the same item (BUNK BEDS no less) and obviously needed to return one. The app looked straightforward, but confused the number of items and shipping labels I needed. And it turns out while shipping is covered in the delivery, it is NOT covered on the return. So this is a cautionary tale about online ordering from Wayfair. Oh my first visit to this store, I enjoyed browsing their aisles looking at patio furniture, bathroom and kitchen sink accessories, bed furnishings, living room furniture, etc. The store was brightly lit, spacious, well-organized, and clean. My interest lied in checking out patio furniture. They had small but good selection. Some of the furniture pieces not only looked nice but also the seating was very relaxing and comfortable. I also checked out their, The Porch, café that serves food and beverages. I purchased a Mango Coconut Latte that was delicious. We received good customer service. Beautiful store. Smells pretty, but could be toned down a bit. I appreciate being able to see and touch items that I may intend to purchase. There are a lot of different set-ups and models to enjoy. The store is filled with items for both inside your home as well as outdoors. My favorite area was the bathroom as we are looking to remodel the one upstairs this year. They have everything you need to make your house a home from lighting to paintings, candles and even floral arrangements. One visit is definitely not enough to make me happy. Gonna have to grab hubby on the return. I enjoyed eating lunch at the Porch, the brisket panini came highly recommended and it delivered. Barbecued brisket with caramelized onions, fontina cheese, arugula and horseradish. Served with a side of chips and a pickle. Loved the lavender lemonade too. read more

My visit on this day was in search of a new dresser. I was curious what a wayfair store might be like and, as most people are saying, it's a lot like Ikea. I didn't find a dresser that would fit in my space, but I did see lots of fantastic dressers in different styles and at different price points. Which is to say that they have a decent range. I DID end up buying some curtains for both my dining room and bedroom, but they don't have them in actual stock... so you just order it for delivery. It's nice to be able to actually see and feel what your buying in person sometimes, it makes a big difference in determining quality and value. Really, I found the decor options the most interesting. They have lots of artwork laid out by color and theme if your looking for a matching accent piece. So, while I see the appeal of this shopping concept I have to say it just doesn't do much for me. I would come back to see decor options in person as trends change but don't think I'd come back for furniture. read more

I'm rewriting this review based on what has happened in the past 2 weeks. Wayfair is the worst shopping experience I've had in my 52 years on planet Earth. We bought a corduroy couch and loveseat from them. We discussed the specifics with the employee we dealt with. We were not going to be able to occupy the apartment for another 7 days. Addition we purchased the three year protection warranty. Needless to say, the couch came early, by about 2 days after purchase.. Our complex was nice enough to bring the merchandise into the apartment, which again we did not yet occupy. We were able to come by the 4 days later after delivery. We were reassured by Wayfair that uninstaller would come by that morning. Upon our hour and a half drive to our new apartment, we learned that the installer would be unavailable to come out that day and try to have and installer come out 2 Days later. That's a lot of zooming back and forth for an hour and a half one way drive. Another installer was due to stop by to put it together a dresser later on that day. That installer agreed to assemble our couch. First amount of damage we saw was a speaker cover was broken off the loveseat. Wayfair did give us a credit. But about 5 days after using this couch, we noticed a small tear near the cup holder. Again we had the 3-year warranty. The warranty is no good. Trash. They refused to fix it and told us to go buy some glue. Excuse me, when you buy a couch, it's supposed to be perfect. Brand new. It's not up to us to fix it. It's up to Wayfair. When we called and complained, we were told that our satisfaction would be guaranteed. Again they offered us a few dollars off the purchase price. I guess it's up to us to find an upholstery repair. But it's all over all experience makes me never want to go in the same shopping plaza as a Wayfair. The the tear maybe small. But I can guarantee over a short period of time that Tear is going to blossom and grow. Way to go Wayfair, you've earned the worst customer service award in my book. Too bad Yelp doesn't offer zero score or even a negative score. read more

I went to the Wayfair store at the end of May 2026. I was in the market for a floor lamp, an ergonomic office chair, new bed sleeping pillows and a 30" bathroom sink with vanity. I found ALL these items at a very reasonable price point. There is ample parking and it is FREE. It was EZ to find the store and EZ to navigate to the store from my home base. The prices are good, and the quality is also good. Some items were a bit higher priced; however, the majority of items I viewed were affordable, and within my budget/price point. I don't normally write reviews for stores since I rarely go to a brick-and-mortar store for shopping. However, I was impressed with the customer service I received, the prices and the size of the store, coupled with a wide variety of home items. There is a 2nd level at the store. IF you are an individual who cannot physically walk up stairs you can take elevator. The bathroom vanity was shipped to my home, and it was already fully assembled. I hired my cousin to install the vanity and paid him instead. Plus, I save a bit of money having him install the bathroom vanity. Wayfair also offers installation (for a fee). My cousin stated it was "very easy" to install. read more

The stuff they sold? Great! No problems. The table and chairs we bought are great quality it seems. Writing this in January 2026. I ordered a table and chairs a month ago. They were estimated a pre-christmas delivery but they were not delivered. They appeared to have a "lost at the doc" status message. They contacted me and because the original order was lost they reordered the table and chairs. They evidently found the original table and chairs, and they were delivered to me. Then the DUPLICATE order was never cancelled when the original order was delivered or found. OK fine. I get on with their support and report to them that it's already delivered and they need to cancel the duplicate order. Twice, several days apart, and NEITHER of them do the work of cancelling the order. So... they deliver it anyway. We leave it in the living room and contact Wayfair to report the duplicate delivery, they respond with an order to pick it up. A few days later my living room is clear as they have picked it up. A week later we then get ANOTHER scheduled pickup date... even though it's already been picked up. Absurd. OK sure, they then turn the pickup over to a third party. Again I contact Wayfair (twice) to get them to cancel the pickup, as there is nothing to pick up! They have the audacity to tell me they can't cancel but I can try and call THEIR third party company WHO THEY contracted with and find a way to convince THEM. As of now, the heck with all of them. The third party company will probably come, I'll tell them there is nothing to pick up, hopefully they will charge Wayfair for their time. WAYFAIR you can DO BETTER. GET A BETTER SUPPORT SYSTEM. If you have support agents who won't get on the phone to solve your problem, you have a crap system. I'm not chasing you and your suppliers around! Next time? I'M NOT GOING TO REPORT THE DUPLICATE DELIVERY. I'm going to accept it and sell it locally. This is too absurd. read more

Came here to check out the brick and mortar store and found a cute cafe with bold flavorful eats. I would definitely recommend going to check them out. It is a walk up service and they bring your food out to your seat. It's a great spot for way break from shopping and decision making. I purchased a couch last June online. We assembled it and began using it. One adult has been sitting on it daily. It has not been abused in any way, yet it is collapsing like a sinkhole in the middle of the couch between the first and middle cushion. I requested either a replacement, refund or store credit for the amount I paid. Wayfair pretends they will help you resolve problems you have with their merchandise. Unfortunately, their customer service isn't really service. They wanted pictures. I sent them. They responded that it looked like the frame was giving way and that isn't something they would cover, but to be nice, they would give me 10% off my next order. No thanks. I will NEVER buy anything from them again. This couch lost all value in 10 months! We saved nothing buying it. read more

I've been meaning to come here bc I LOVE Wayfair! Honestly, it was a lot smaller than I thought it'd be. Definitely had some cool demo displays for faucets and showers, where you can test it out. Some of the items were sticky/broken, which was sad. Nice to have the brick and mortar to see some of the more popular items in person. One of the sales agents, Charles, gave us some very helpful info about the difference between Wayfair online and in store, like the return policy and customer service. Basically, it's better to shop in person! I wish this place was much bigger with more things!! I think I need to go check out the outlet in Naperville :) read more

What a big, fat disappointment of a store. There was so much hype with this store opening and it was honestly pretty good the first two visits. The sparkle and novelty of the store has faded and now it's left with majorly dinged up floor samples, overpriced accessories at every turn, and no help at check-out in sight. Honestly.... They try to showcase every price point for furniture, which is a great theory, but not so effective when customers can see firsthand how cheap most of the items are and how they wear terribly. It's just trash from china. And now, not even "cheap" anymore. Might as well go to ikea again at this price point. They literally had to remove check out turnstiles because they didn't have enough staff, or demand, or both. Half the store is a sterile ghost town. Highlight - the "sale" section by checkout is the area where they dump damaged beyond repair floor models and seasonal items and try to hoodwink you into thinking you're getting a deal. Tiny, scratched tin candles on sale for $14.99! Chicago bears tumblers for 27.99 on sale! One, unpaired, chipped nightstand for only $185! What a disaster. The coffee shop oddly thinks it's smart to attract people by making their prices even higher than Starbucks - $6 for a cake pop.... You joking me? Not lots of mom's with moody kids in their cart lining up to grab one of those. The once plentiful menu has also been cut in half and is also underwhelming overpriced and mediocre. So much potential! Loved the idea of getting a beer to walk around the store with. Or grabbing a delish sandwich or salad to go (not for over $15 you crazies!) The people working there look miserable and unenthused. Everything in sight screams lazy, tired and worn. It's honestly such a disappointment and if they don't turn things around, I'm not sure a store front is going to be a good business model for Wayfair. Management and marketing need to clean up shop and make it an experience worth coming back for or I sense this store won't last much longer. We spent nearly 1500.00 on a new sofa...all good except Wayfair doesn't tell you but their "touted" free delivery is having a Fed Ex truck dump the boxes in your front yard a day before they are to be delivered...and with zero notification to the owner they are being delivered. The customer service person at Wayfair in Wilmette explained that was their normal.procedure. Wayfair also does not alert the customer of this delivery "approach" when in the sales discussion process. They offer "free " delivery and set up for an extra charge. Failing to say your furniture will sit in your front yard [with no delivery notification]. They such and not worth our future business. Douglas K. The Epilogue to our experience with Wayfair... Epilogue. My wife spoke with their customer service line as I did a Yelp review...Minnie was more effective at getting an appropriate response [a 15% credit applied to our purchase]. The funny part is - I was ten minutes late for a business lunch as i was dealing with this delivery issue....and when I got there I explained why I was late to my two dining partners. One exclaimed - "I had the same thing happen! Wayfairs delivery folks dumped five boxes in my front yard....I opened them and two pieces were wrong....Wayfair said "keep them" and replaced them with two more pieces that were also wrong"......so I had three good pieces and four mismatched...." My other dining partner offered - "my wife is a residential interior designer and she used to use Wayfair, but they couldn't coordinate delivery times, got orders wrong etc" so she went elsewhere". The waitress where we were dining [Acanto] overheard our discussion and chimed in she "had an experience where Wayfair dumped a delivery in front of her apartment - on the sidewalk.... ". We could have done a Wayfair service survey at a very full Acanto restaurant and probably had fodder for a good "Seinfeld" episode. read more

We've spent tens of thousands of dollars with Wayfair this year alone -- furnishing multiple rooms and outdoor spaces. You'd think that level of loyalty would count for something. Apparently, it doesn't. Our latest purchase was a BBQ grill that required assembly. We requested assembly through Wayfair, and they assigned one person for two hours via Angi -- even though the manufacturer's instructions clearly state that two people are needed for four hours. It was never going to work. To make matters worse, we later found the exact same grill elsewhere for a lower price including assembly. Naturally, we decided to return the Wayfair unit. Wayfair's response? A $200 return fee -- for an unopened item -- and zero flexibility despite our extensive purchase history. We reached out to our sales representative, hoping that our ongoing relationship and significant spend would count for something. It didn't. We were met with canned policies instead of customer service. At this point, it's hard to justify continuing to buy from a company that treats high-value customers like disposable order numbers. We'll be taking our business elsewhere -- to retailers who value loyalty and stand behind their products and their customers. read more

I was curious about Wayfair's first large-format store in the former Carson's building at Edens Plaza in Wilmette. It's a two-story building at over 150,000 square feet and has it all -- furniture, housewares, home improvement, decor, pet furniture, a restaurant -- The Porch. I have ordered from Wayfair to furnish an apartment and had a generally positive experience. I was curious to see the first large-format store. It reminds me of IKEA, although IKEA definitely is bigger and has more parking. I did notice that as soon as I entered it smelled absolutely lovely. Don't know what the scent was but it was really nice - light and floral? The Porch was fairly full and had a line of people waiting to be seated. In my opinion you can't call it the porch when it's really more of a ... patio and restaurant. It looked bright and fresh. I went upstairs where they had the home improvement section and bathroom fixtures, cute pet stuff, beds. Downstairs with the housewares and the living room setups seemed kind of cramped. Basically if you are in the market for this type of furniture, it's nice to get to see it in person. Prices seemed reasonable. It seemed like everyone was there to check things out because I didn't see anyone buying anything. It's been quite a while since I saw Edens Plaza that full of cars. My Missus and I were there for the Grand Opening, and it was a challenge to maneuver our purple shopping cart through the crowded aisles. Considering this is Wayfair's very first store, though, my review is based more on first impressions than the shopping experience (I have reviewed The Porch, their in-store café, separately). On first glance, the store (which occupies the long-vacated shell of the late, lamented Carson Pirie Scott department store) reminded me of IKEA. However, IKEA's merchandise is aimed at budget-conscious shoppers (dormitories, starter homes, assemble-it-yourself, etc.). By comparison, Wayfair's merchandise is value-oriented but somewhat more upscale, luxurious, and - yes - pricier. It's a 'big box' store but not a warehouse store. It's not the sort of place where you would find everyday needs, but for a refurnishing or redecorating project - or just to browse - it's definitely a go-to. The two purple-accented floors connected through a dramatic skylit atrium are very attractive, the duo of elevators can accommodate multiple shopping carts, and the main aisles are generously wide. The café is a wonderful meeting place, and the restrooms (on both floors) are among the finest I've seen anywhere. Unlike the infuriatingly nonexistent 'customer service' at far too many of today's retail chains, eager and helpful sales associates are stationed throughout the store. But, inquiring about the store's return policy, we had to ask three different associates before we got an answer (30 days, return counter in the store). Bumping this down to 3 stars, because I've been here three times now and every time I end up feeling sick from something literally in the air here. The store is cute, but it has a weird smell that makes me nauseous and/or gives me a brutal headache and makes my eyes burn. The first time I went here I got nauseous after about 20 minutes and thought it was just coincidental (I didn't notice a smell). I just thought it was the heat of summer. The second time I went here I was here for about an hour and after 45 minutes I got a headache and lightheaded and my eyes hurt, which I thought was weird, but didn't think anything of it. I thought that I was just tired. Today I went in there and within 10 minutes my eyes were burning and I was getting a headache. Today, for the first time, I noticed a very overpowering smell -- some sort of very florally soapy smell. It doesn't smell like fragrance from candles or anything, and it was more overpowering in random sections of the store (ones that don't have displays with fragranced things, like the appliance section and the lighting section). I was there 2 hours after the store opened, so if it was something from the cleaning crew it should have dissipated, and the other times I went it was even later in the day, so it couldn't have been that. It's also definitely not a perfume from a customer or anything because it was literally in all four corners of the store on both floors. I left after about 20 minutes after stopping by to look specifically at what I came to see. Sadly I had to forgo browsing around for fun because I couldn't take it. I don't know what it is, but I won't be able to go back here (at least not without wearing a mask...maybe that would help). It took me an hour of being back at home before my headache started to go away, and my eyes still are burning. I'm not at all sensitive to smells -- I can walk into an Abercrombie or Hollister or spend an hour at Bath and Body Works and not be affected at all, and the strong antiseptic smell of a hospital doesn't impact me physically at all. I had also been at Chalet across the street earlier with all their candles and plants and scented items and was totally fine. But whatever Wayfair is pumping through this store is brutal and nearly knocked me out almost instantly.
