I was preparing to head out of town and needed to grab a quick bite so I went to Yelp looking for something. I actually ended up on DoorDash checking out their happy hour deals and low behold Wayback burger had a great deal on their burgers for DoorDash 's happy hour. I ordered the original burger, lettuce, tomato onion add mayo, and I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of my choice. The burger was juicy with fresh ingredients and they serve it on a potato bun I believe that's really soft. When I visited the store to pick up my order, there wasn't really anybody in there so service was immediate. But the restaurant is clean, spacious and well lit so if you do want to eat your burger there, there's more than enough room. I've tried out Wayback burgers in a couple of different states including Arizona and North Carolina over the last year or two and I'm slowly becoming a fan. read more

Wayback burger is a nice option between really fast food and sitdown chains. We were pleasantly greeted and staff was so helpful answering our questions about the menu. My family and I stopped by Wayback Burgers in Pooler this past weekend on a Saturday around noon. I'll start with the positives, because there are quite a few. The restaurant was very clean, which I always appreciate. The food was delicious, and the pricing honestly surprised me--in a good way. For four people with drinks, our total came out to $62, which is significantly cheaper than many other burger spots these days. One of my kids ordered a kids cheeseburger meal, and it was a great size for a child. I ordered The Cheesy burger--two patties, three cheese slices, and the bun is flipped inside out. It's definitely unique, and if you're curious, just look at my photo because it speaks for itself. Another person in our group did a custom burger, and everyone agreed the burgers were filling and well-made. The fries were absolutely delicious, and the cook was super nice, which didn't go unnoticed. Now for the not-so-great part. The woman at the front counter who took our order was... not welcoming. No hello, no smile, and honestly she looked like she hated being there. The restaurant wasn't busy at all--we were the only customers--so it wasn't a stress or crowd issue. It felt more like a morale problem than anything else. Because of that, I'm not sure if I'd rush back solely due to the customer service, which is unfortunate because the food itself was really good. My daughter speaks highly of this place as she ate my vegan burger the last time so I can't really tell you how it tastes. She was barely seated when I noticed and it was almost gone. I seriously don't understand the bad reviews. If I prefer at the counter and before I get my food I am asked to tip that is an automatic minus 1 start for me..... pay your people. If not for that this would have been 5 stars. The staff was friendly and helpful. The restaurant was clean and the service was fast. We ordered the garlic Romano fries. Probably the best seasoned fries i have had. They were hot and crispy, had enough garlic and cheese so you know it is there. My wife had the double bacon burger. She said it was great but could only eat half because it was too much food. I had the spicy melt. I added jalapeños. When it was served, I thought they forgot the peppers. The young lady smiled and said check under the patty. This was a great move. There were plenty of peppers and because the patty held them in place they didn't fall out The only comment is that the bun is to soft for a burger that is allowed to hold some juice. This was my first experience at Wayback Burgers. I was in town for the week, and my Aunt had a buy one signature burger, get a classic burger free. The burgers were a nice size, but a little too greasy for me so I may be a little bias. To be fair, I reintroduced beef back in my diet about a year and half ago, so I don't think I'm used to eating burgers anymore. The milkshakes did look decadent, but I thought it might be too much with the burger and fries. Overall, an okay experience for a person wanting an indulgent cheat meal. The restaurant is small - only about 6 tables and a counter, but the decor is fun. The gentleman at the counter was very friendly. We waited ~15 minutes for our food. Everything was hot and fresh! My classic burger was exactly how I wanted it - super juicy and loaded with cheese. I also ordered the mac n' cheese bites, also yummy. My husband got a burger, which he enjoyed, and the o-fries. I always struggle to decide on fries or onion rings - the o-ring option (a basket of a mix of both) is the perfect side order in my eyes! If you're looking fast food then this isn't your place. The Tanger location is smaller than the other location on Abercorn, so seating is limited. However, we have always managed to snag a seat. They carry different varieties of burgers, cheese-steaks, and milkshakes, including their coveted chill cheese fries, which are worth the trip in itself. If you choose to dine in, your order is brought to your table, steaming hot! Just like I like it! The fries are crispy and the chill and cheese on top melt in your mouth! The burgers are juicy, loaded with condiments and surrounded by a soft bun. I cannot say enough good things about the food! The staff is always courteous. Went for the first time yesterday. Loved the ease of ordering, the very clear menu and the friendly staff. Our burgers were juicy, perfectly cooked and loaded with the toppings of our choosing. The French fries were perfectly crisp and the onion rings were crisp without being hard. They have both indoor and outdoor seating and appear to be dog friendly. (Three very well behaved dogs were on the patio. 2 were greyhounds). The inside was busy without being overly loud. Definitely worth taking a trip to Pooler just to stop at Wayback Burgers! read more

My husband and I just took our little family to the new Wayback burger down the road from our home. Food was okay, service was horrible from one worker. Miss Destiny was extremely rude. I asked her for her name and told her that her attitude was very ugly and she continued to smart off and then proceeded to just stand there looking at me. Very embarrassing and unprofessional. This place is very rude and very unprofessional! I went there a couple of weeks and a man was working the front. He was a little bit on the plus side and had a accent. He acted as if he had a attitude and had a very rude facial impression. My Husband and I did not appreciate this manner especially since we had our two younger kid's with us. Saw that Wayback was open and decided to swing through for lunch with my family. When you walk in, you quickly realize this place is SMALL; five tables and five seats at a counter. We arrived at 12:30 and placed our order right away. The menu is straight forward and everything is customizable. That right there is great, especially for those that want to swap an Impossible patty for a beef one. But, the issues began after placing our order. See, once you place your order, everything there after is full service. They bring your drinks, food, and get you refills. The kids both got chocolate milkshakes with their meals. Those milkshakes were outstanding, and I figured that's why they were empty by the time their food came. That wasn't the case, they finished them because we waited 31 minutes for three burgers and a chicken tenders. I definitely don't expect fast food, but 31 minutes? Not good at all. The bacon cheese fries that we ordered literally had a pinch of cheese. I'm not joking when I say it was about 2 tablespoons of cheese. Absolute waste of money. The fries were stale and old too. My wife and I ended our meal with Oreo mint milkshakes. Despite having to wait 15 minutes for shakes, they were the best and the only reason why three stars are being given. I will be back to hopefully allow Wayback to let the newness wear off and give them the chance to get in a groove. read more
