Haven't been for a while and found it very disappointing. I was drawn in by the pictures of a juicy burger, and I don't mind waiting for fresh. Ordered the meal deal, single burger, (added mustard and pickles), fries and a drink. They were out of root beer. The meal came up with a mediocre at best burger. It was a little overdone, cheese not fully melted, only had two pickles and was smothered in mustard. I love mustard, but this was too much for me. I got a discount certificate for Wayback Burgers in Broadview Heights, so I stopped in for a late lunch in the late afternoon; I was the only person for most of my visit, although they did do a take out order. I ordered the Impossible Burger with grilled onions, mushrooms, jalapenos, and the remoulade sauce, an order of fries and a chocolate milkshake. Everything was made to order, although it did take a while. The first thing up was the milkshake, a medium sized cup topped with whipped cream. The shake was made with real ice cream, so it was smooth and creamy, the chocolate flavor was muted and the whipped cream diluted the flavor even more. Next up was the Impossible burger and fries. The burger was a bit overcooked, what was most disappointing was that despite the $10 cost of the burger the toppings were skimpy at best and all piled on the center of burger. The fries are medium sized and came out luke warm and not very crispy. While the food was ok, there was nothing that was tasty enough to try again. Wayback Burgers is set up as a premium fast food burger place, the prices are high, yet the food is mediocre at best, also the portions are a bit underwhelming especially at the prices they are charging. I walked into Wayback Burger, it was empty. There was a big digital order screen that I attempted to avoid. 4 people in the back cooking area. None came out so I figure I have to use the screen. I wanted a "Meal Deal" $8.99 for burger, fries and a drink. Fair enough. The screen had no option for meal deals (at least, not that I could find). $8.49?(unsure) for a "classic" burger, attempted to order a "Classic" burger with lettuce, tomato, mustard, jalapeno. small fry and coke. it refused the order. Apparently, I have to order large fries. So, ordered fries... $3.99. No coke. waited a few minutes for the order. Got a double burger with ketschup and jalapenos. Nothing else. And a basket of fries. I wanted to tip in cash, that wasn't an option. So for almost $14, I got a meal that I didn't want. They had buy one burger, get one free and meal deals... none of these options were offered or suggested, Huge disappointment, I will not be back. The food is good but it's definitely overpriced. It was good but not so amazing that I'm willing to spend $30 for 2 burgers and a side again. The garden burger was very tasty but it should be bigger based on the cost of it. Everything is purchased separately. There aren't any combos, aside from fries/drink or onion rings/drinks. Those combos are between $6-$7 dollars. The onion rings were perfect. I love beer batter fried onion rings. I dipped them in Cajun Remoulade sauce. Cute decor and lots of business, but I had a bad experience. Not sure if my wait time of 25 minutes for a to-go order is normal timing at Wayback Burgers. I ordered their Rodeo burger, with a side of house made chips & drink pair, so it's not like my order is complicated or large. Even the people around me who had online orders waited a minimum of 15 minutes in the restaurant for their food. I understand that their location only has been in business two weeks prior to my experience, so that could be a reason for the long wait, but this kind of issue should have been resolved within the first week or so. Also, pay attention to how you are being charged. I was charged a bit more for my order for ordering just a side of chips and a drink (not the pair pricing). At the end of the day, if I am being charged more than I ordered for, I could have went to Five Guys for that quality of food and still received my order within 10 minutes of ordering. read more

My kids love this place! I personally have not had any negative experience with the food or the service, but of course that is just my experience from like 10-15 visits. As far as the burger goes, this hamburger is certainly better than 5 guys, better than Shake Shack for sure, and right on par with In-n-Out for you West Coast peeps. My gold standard small burger joint in Cleveland would be Backyard Burger by the airport, and Wayback's burger is right up there with them. The staff are very friendly, always greet us with a smile, and while the speed isn't McDonald's drive through speed, you are probably reading this because you are tired of that food product crap disguised as a burger. read more

Well, decided to give them a second chance. Walked into the door, and the smell of rancid grease hit me in the face like a Nolan Ryan fastball. There were Three or four employees that had gathered in the kitchen and nobody exactly rushed out to the countertop. I waited for maybe 20 seconds then turned around and walked out. That smell should've been enough to tell me not to try their food again. We found this place by chance. We have been back many times in the two months that we first started. We have tried so many items on the menu, and nothing disappoints us. My personal favorite is the burger (Which I am a very picky eater when it comes to my hamburgers). The pattie it's self is the same size as the bun, which the bun is so fresh and delicious. The milkshakes are really good and so are the fries. The service is another reason to go back. They get to know you and your order. They are very personable and friendly. Great meal! I enjoyed the food and would eat here again. The service could be better, but not bad enough to keep me away. This was my first time at Wayback burger and I decided to build my own burger with the toppings of my choice. I had a single patty with pepper jack cheese, lettuce, grilled onions, tangy bbq sauce, and mayo. I got a side of regular fries and a caramel cinnamon toast crunch milkshake. The burger was tasty and I was particularly happy with the sturdiness of the bun after eating at a different burger chain that opened in the area recently that served their burger on a bun which fell apart in my hands. This one held up and the toppings were good as well. The fries were slightly above average. The milkshake was good but not amazing. I probably would not order one again given the $4.99 price tag. I was with four others who ordered ahead of me and we all got our food in a reasonable amount of time. However, there was only one person working in the front part of the store and he seemed too have too much to do. He answered the phone to put a caller on hold while in the middle of taking my order. He was also in charge of making the milkshakes and had to stop halfway through making mine to take other orders. I really love this place. I received a gift card for Wayback right as this location opened and decided to give it a try. The place is small so sometimes it's hard to find a spot to eat but honestly that shouldn't be a big deal for anyone. I always get their cheesy burger with French fries and a drink. I absolutely loveeeeeee their burgers and their fries are some of the best I've ever tried. Typically they only have one or two people taking orders at a time and everything is made fresh so it takes a bit longer. The people who complain about their FRESH FOOD taking too long to cook are ridiculous. If you want something fast and terrible just go to McDonald's across the street. Positives-my order was ready when I arrived at my desired pick up time, staff was friendly, place seemed clean. Note: they were not busy at all. Negatives-got home and they left off several toppings I requested and literally put a half piece of wilted lettuce on the burger. The grilled chicken sandwich was flavorless, thin and rubbery. Called to complain and got placed on a 4 minute hold so I hung up. I've been here twice. First when they opened. Had a bad experience. Waited 40 mins for our food. It was bad, over priced, manager was rude. No compensation for such an inconvenience. We chalked it up to being a newly open business working out the "kinks". Thought I'd give it another chance. Walked in. No other customers were in there. My order was two burgers, fries, one milkshake, one diet pop . There's were 8 employees!!!! It took 15 mins! Then they brought my food out w/ no drinks! I had to remind them about the drinks and wait for them to make the milkshake and pop. The service is so slow and it appears no one knows how to work there. But wait! It get worse. While I was waiting for what seemed like an eternity for an order I could've received in 5 mins across the street at McDonald's for 1/2 the cost. I used the restroom. Holy crap! Now, I don't claim to be the cleanest person in the world. But a certain level of cleanliness is to be expected at a place that serves you food. This restroom seriously looked like it hasn't been cleaned since it opened! If this is how they clean their place I can only imagine their sanitation practices are sub par w/ food handling. So this was a pleasant surprise. Today would have been a Swenson's kind of night with the family craving a burger but we are no longer located in there delivery range. With Wayback being the suggested alternative we kinda just said why not. With our expectations low we ordered 3 burgers Tots and 2 shakes. Burgers were not greasy, easy to eat and the bread was pleasantly great. The burger looked great and tasted better. Over all gave a subtle but pleasant freshness. Tots were great and the 2 year old killed the lot of them. Wife had inverted buns and I quote said the burgers quality was probably one of her favorites---very reminiscent of burger fi / burger fresh definitely better than 5guys.....the shakes were good ---chocolate was very Hershey like and for chocolate lovers it will hit the sport(my daughter said it's better than steak and shakes which isn't saying much but meant to be a good thing. The strawberry was perfect to dunk tots in and even the baby approved. All in all it didn't seem like a fluke and we hope our next order will be just as great.
