I have been going to Julio since before he opened Wax Man. I have been going to Tom for almost 3 years or Julio when Tom is out. They are on time, professional and decently priced, They don't upsell you, but will make recommendations and offer discount on products/devices. The vibe is "Girl we got you" read more

I've been going to Yesenia for 7 years now and she is THE best! Always super fast and painless. She makes what may seem like an uncomfortable experience, so funny and light hearted! And my brows? She seriously brings them to life every time. Love her DOWN! The place itself is so cute and cozy I love it. 10/10 would recommend! read more

They are very professional and clean. Really liked that they explained things to me, first time High quality work and delivered above and beyond for the services. Will be back read more

I am a frequent visitor of this spa and got a first time facial from Tom and cannot recommend him highly enough! Not only did he address all of my skin concerns, he used the time in between to give me a great massage which helped me relax and ease my tensions. He was very easy to talk to and really helpful in understanding my specific skin needs. I left with my skin glowing and an even better feeling of self confidence I ever had. I cannot speak highly enough of Julio, the owner of this spa, who gave me a one-on-one conversation before my service and truly helped me feel better about myself. read more

I love this place. I got my eyebrows waxed and eyelash lift. Amazing customer service and positive vibes!

I stopped in before going out of town for a Hawaiian vacation and needed go make sure my skin was silky smooth and beach ready. I saw Julio for my legs and Passion for a Brazilian wax- split into two sessions because of time crunch. They were both super nice, professional, friendly and SKILLED. I'll definitely be back. read more

Julio just knows how to get guys cleaned up and in an efficient way. I'm a continued client of his and his calm demeanor in doing his craft is exceptional. Further he is extremely flexible with any request that you need done. I highly recommend Julio for all. read more

I have to admit that I thought this spa was for men only (Wax MAN) and I assumed incorrectly that they wouldn't have female estheticians. I was wrong, Vanessa did my waxing and she was amazing. Waxing was as painless as it could be and Vanessa was calm, welcoming, and friendly. I will definitely be going back for a facial; very excited to find this place. read more

Yesterday I went in for my first ever facial and eyebrow waxing. I was Julio the owner. He did a great job. I will definitely be returning.

This was my first time having a Brazilian waxing .I was nervous about doing it . When I got there Vanessa Ortega had a smile when I walked in the door we started to talk of the procedure she was going to do and I started to feel less nervous . The process was not that painful to me to what thought Vanessa Kept me very calm and giving me information of cream's to use to keep my skin smooth . I will be coming back now I'm a customer for life I highly recommend it thank you Vanessa read more

I was lucky enough to come across Pamela's work on Yelp when she was working with Benefit and I couldn't get over the amazing reviews. When I found out that she joined the team at Wax Man Spa I knew this place had to be special! Pamela truly takes the time to perfect your brows and for the first time in over 6 years I've been able to feel confident wearing no makeup! She is passionate about making others feel their best selves which is why I think she is incredibly talented at the work she is doing. The salon itself is really nice and everyone is welcoming. After meeting the owner I am not surprised by all of the positive reviews! He truly has built something incredible! read more

This place is great for waxing men and women. space is clean, bright and Passion and Julio are professional and make you feel completely comfortable regardless of what service they are providing. It's been a staple in the Ravenswood neighborhood for years and it's an awesome place to get facials/ waxing/ and any of your general body treatments. read more

Came here for my first professional back waxing after I couldn't get a last minute appointment anywhere else. Based on most of the reviews of this place they are great for haircuts but not waxing even though it's called wax man spa... I will say the service was really great and all the people who worked here were very nice. However, I just wasn't satisfied with the back waxing itself. First of all, I do not believe the wax was warm enough and the guy was letting it set way too long after applying before ripping it off which made it much more painful. I am making that assessment based on the places I've been since that I have had more successful experiences at. Second, I understand that all the hair won't be removed but there was much more left than I expected there to be especially for the price. I don't mind paying for quality service but I did not see the added value in my experience. I found a much cheaper place that does a much better job. I also had a really bad break out which started the very next day resulting in my back looking like Freddy Kruegers face which was not fun. If you're going to spend $70 (tip included) you might as well go to a better spa or spend less somewhere else and get better results. read more

My former SO got his bum waxed here. (If we meet at a Yelp + 1 event don't tell him you read this review!) He has an Amazon rainforest growing around and out of his ass. I say that lovingly. He's not the only guy who requires a lawnmower to groom that area. I'm looking at you, dear male reader or girlfriend of such. I made an appointment for Saturday afternoon. It was easy breezy. Our esthetician was Rosie. If you prefer a male esthetician, they have one available too. Everyone's super nice at WMS. Rosie was really great at making my SO feel comfortable and relaxed. It was his first time getting waxed. She applied a numbing solution first. We talked about how 40 Year Old Virgin wax scene makes waxing seem worse than it really is. (I've been waxed before and it really doesn't hurt that much!) Rosie was quick, efficient, and thorough. She was also really sweet and charming. My SO was amazed by the results. There was some discomfort, but that's normal. He was really happy by his "bald ass" (that's what he calls it). He was prancing and skipping around like a pony. When he was done, he got a beer. Yup, he was very happy. The cost was VERY reasonable and the results last for weeks. I highly recommend Wax Man Spa for your waxing needs, whether you're guy or gal. Julio, the owner, is a sweetheart too! I'm just happy that I don't have to see a hairy gorilla butt every day. read more

Dear Julio, thank you for taking care of me despite the short notice. This is my first time having any kind of professional waxing services and have to say I was extremely pleased with service. Julio greeted me kindly at the door, despite him multitasking and taking a phone call at the same time he was able to deal with me and me feel very welcome. Julio offered me a drink whilst waiting, whilst I declined, I am thankful for the gesture. Thank you for taking care of me and walking me throughout the process. A must recommend for everyone. read more

This was my first time at Wax Man and getting trimmed and waxed. I was heading out for an extended beach vacation. I decided on getting my back waxed, as I normally do, but also decided on having some man-scaping done to my chest, abdomen and groin. I was completely satisfied. I had never been trimmed before and Julio did an excellent job and made me feel comfortable the entire time. I had an unexpected time crunch with my appointment and Julio graciously stated that I was more than welcome to leave and come back to finish, if it made it easier for me. I have never had a salon tell me that. I took his offer and returned the next day to complete my services. All of which I would recommend. I'll be back. Thank you Julio! read more

Ask for Pan Vazquez who really knows her stuff and will make you comfortable addressing any difficult dilemma. Located on a major thoroughfare so it is easy to get there but also has abundant street parking. Very good vendor! read more

I've gone to Julio numerous time for facials and hair appointments. I could not be more pleased with his level of professionalism, knowledge of products for the skin and hair and the final results I always achieve after an appointment. I found Wax Man Spa to be quaint, clean, and intimate, which is nice to feel like a salon and spa is actually catering to their clients. I recommend Wax Man Spa, hands down! Thanks Julio!! read more

Had my first back/shoulders wax since COVID struck. Lupe did a great job (low pain despite how long it had been). I'll be happy to return!

Dear Fellow Yelpers, I'm happy to share how happy I am with my experiences with Waxman Spa. The short and sweet version: Awesome people, the best quality cut/ style I've found, awesome products and great location. In my opinion, very reasonably priced for the attention to detail and level of stylists you're working with. More details: About 3 years ago, I began styling my hair with a classic side-part. In those 3 years, I have visited a variety of barber shops and salons in the Uptown/ Lincoln Square area for the cut I envisioned. Although other places did a good job, Julio at Waxman nailed it down just right. The Waxman team has always been hospitable and professional, with a great sense of humor . Julio impressed me with his knowledge of the science of hair, how his products work and what they do- he really knows his field. I eventually got my cut with Christine, and she did an amazing job as well! She and Julio were awesome at making suggestions and helping make gradual changes when I wanted to tweak out the style. It's since evolved into an even better style than before. I get compliments on my hair all the time. Hope this helps and you try them out! read more

I have been going to Julio for about a year now for my haircuts and always leave with a great haircut. I have to say that I have never truly been happy with the haircuts I have received from my stylist in the past. Honestly, I never really knew what I wanted or what I could ask for. Julio really has such an eye for what would look good for me and really allowed me to explore my choices. Every time I want a little something different he consistently helps me to facilitate my options in a knowledgable and honest way. I have also been to the spa for other services as well. I have had my back and chest waxed from Julio numerous times and other staff at the spa and it has always been fantastic. Julio's years of experience as an esthetician show with his ability to make a proceeder which may seem painful or daunting appear an art form. He seriously knows so much in the field and is very forthcoming in sharing his craft. I also just recently went to Christoper Hasiak for a scalp, facial, and shoulder massage after my recent haircut. It was such a euphoric feeling leaving the spa that day. I work out pretty frequently and generally carry all my stress from my job in my shoulders so having this done was just what I needed. This week in particular my shoulders and neck were very tight and sore but when Christopher was done my head honestly felt lighter on my shoulders. And the facial massage was something I had never had done before but was a truly relaxing treat. I'm currently fighting this cold and my sinuses have been congested and caused me to have this pressure headache all week. But after this massage my sinuses felt at ease and the pressure was released. I highly recommend one for anyone in this cold season. All in all everyone at the spa is truly professional and offers wonderful services with a knowledge and attention to their craft which is truly exceptional! I highly recommend anyone to stop in and see for yourself! read more

I'm very fussy when it comes to my hair. My best cuts had always been while abroad. By far. Not a bad excuse to travel to Europe, but also not an option. My constant search for a local salon that offered the same cutting edge style and technique but at an affordable price landed me at Wax Man Spa & Salon. I've been very happy with Julio. He takes the time to explain what he thinks would work best with my type of hair and facial structure while being mindful of current trends and styles. His knowledge of hair has also allowed him to accurately suggest products to ensure my scalp and hair are at their best. While they carry excellent products they do not in any way push you to buy. I have not as of yet tried any of their additional services, but I have been very pleased with my haircuts as well as their professionalism and relaxed, fun, friendly environment. read more

Couldn't be more pleased with a place. First thing you notice when you walk in is how clean and professional it is. Geohvani is great at what he does and for my first time getting anything waxed was a relief. Told me exactly what to expect and how he was going to do it. A great relief and if I could give this place a higher rating I would. read more

I've been coming to this spa for years. It's always a little uncomfortable to get a wax done but I feel most relaxed here. It's a nice clean place that offer an array of services. I go see Pam every time I need something done, she is always is so sweet and makes me feel comfortable but always maintains her professionalism! Will definitely continue coming to this spa and will only see Pam Vasquez!! read more

Wow! Highly recommend waxing services here. Alex took very good care of me and made me feel comfortable. I came to her from a bad experience elsewhere and she changed my perspective on how I felt on waxes. Now I love it! If you are a first timer to waxing services, male or female, I highly recommend Alex. She is extremely knowledgeable and answered all my questions from the products they use, to general questions on hair growth and more. The spa has such a great atmosphere and very professional staff. read more

Julio and Carlos provided me with an excellent experience today, I love the color and trim. I will definitely come back to Wax Man Spa, they are very professional in their approach to helping their clients, I was a little nervous as I have never really been a color/dye kinda girl, but I trust Julio's judgement and let them work - I love the results!! Welcome to Wax Man Spa Carlos! read more

Came here for the first time! Never had waxing services done and a tad bit nervous! I heard Julio was the best and anticipated for a few months before coming here. My experience was amazing. I felt like Julio was an old friend and he made me extremely comfortable! He was very professional and explained himself through the whole process! Julio will be seeing a lot more of me! I loved it! read more

I had a great appointment with Vanessa. I appreciate the professionalism at the salon as well as the sincere warmth you feel from the moment you step into their space. Man. First time getting waxed. Vanessa did a great job. Wouldn't hesitate to go back again in future.

The staff is friendly, efficient, and know their clientele. Owner/manager Julio knows his customers, and it shows. They are always booked around the holidays and weekends, especially summer, so call or book online in advance. I'm always happy with my waxing services here. No lie! read more

Juan C. have been my stylist for two years. I followed him from his previous location in Lakeview before joining forces with Julio. I know a good hair cut when I get one because my hairstyle holds up beyond the recommended time I should get my next appointment. He understands the nature and attributes of my hair to know the right hair style to recommend. He is very flexible and almost always accommodates me because of my erratic and unpredictable work schedule. I will definitely try their waxing services in my next appointment. read more

I would highly recommend this place due to their great service and wonderful staff. I have gone here twice for a back waxing and haven't had any issues with break outs. They keep their rooms clean and low lit so it's a relaxing experience. They also have a wide range of hair care products along with some really great products to keep your beard looking great. Their selection easily rivals any other "men's care" shops in the area. read more

I just had my first male brazillian wax from Julio on 9/26. I was skeptical at first and a little scared, however, not only did he put me at ease, he was a true professional! He is great; knows what he is doing and made my vital parts (front/back) as smooth as a baby's skin. Being numbed before applying the wax was the key to a successful wax. Congrats Julio and I cant wait to see you at my next appointment in October. My esthetician was Lady ?? forget her first name but she was awesome and made me look 10 years younger! I highly recommend wax man for all dudes in the area. I also feel much sexier as well! thanks Robert W. read more

I must say that I am a very critical person when it comes to my hair. I have never let anyone but my friend cut or color my hair in over 12 years. I was convinced by my BF (a long time waxing client of the great Julio) to try Julio's services. I'm beyond impressed and happy. The customer service, attention to every detail and the overall experience was perfect. Great job Julio and staff. Keep up the good work! read more
