I don't usually write reviews, but my experience with Wax & Sugar Honolulu -- and especially with Madoka, the owner - absolutely warrants one. I've been a returning customer for years, even if my hectic schedule as a civil servant kept me away longer than I ever wanted. There's a reason she stays booked: she's genuinely the best. Her knowledge, attention to detail, and the level of care she puts into every customized treatment are unmatched. She doesn't just provide a service -- she creates an experience where you feel understood, comfortable, and taken care of. Recently, I returned out of necessity because my teenage son had his first waxing experience elsewhere, and it was a terrible one - on his birthday too:(( I needed someone I could trust completely, and I knew there was no one better than Madoka...She went out of her way to make sure he felt safe, respected, and reassured. I'd follow Madoka anywhere! I only had her once at the Waxing Company but I loved the way she did my brows so much that I was ready to book with her again! When I found out she wasn't there anymore, I legit did an internal sob T___T but someone on Yelp informed me that she opened up her own waxing business so I hurriedly went on her website and booked an appointment with her! The appointment process is really simple. She can even accommodate to your schedule if there's nothing open to your liking (amazing customer service right there) or she can inform you of a cancellation if you let her know. The place is relatively easy to find: just input the address on Google Maps and once you approach the building, you turn right into the lot and VOILA, you have arrived. Park only in the stalls reserved for Salon 2A I believe? The other stalls are for the dentist, HOWEVER you are allowed to park in their stalls after business hours (Contact Madoka to confirm their hours) Her business is up the stairs, to the left. It's very spacious and well lit. You get offered Peach Tea while you get checked in and then it's time for Madoka to work her magic. She takes her time to make sure your brows are literally on fleek and checks with you to make sure you love them. I first found out about Madoka when I started seeing TJ at Beauty Logic (both aestheticians share the same beauty salon space but have separate brands/companies). I had already been seeing TJ for facial waxing, but was interested in getting a brazilian as well. However, since I knew TJ personally, I wasn't quite comfortable with getting my nani waxed by her even though I knew she'd be nothing short of professional. So like a woman in an affair, I booked an online appointment for a brazilian with Madoka. Now, since I felt slightly ashamed for not going to TJ directly for my brazilian, I had booked my appointment on a day that I thought TJ would be off. However, as you may have already guessed...I chose wrong lol. I arrived about 10-15 minutes early seeing as it was my first appointment, and wanted to ensure that if there was paperwork that it was completed prior to my appointment time. I had even confused Anya, the receptionist, who had affiliated me with TJ for appointments, as she had commented that she didn't realize I had an appointment on that day. And of course, just as luck would have it, both Madoka and TJ stepped out of appointments at the same time, and like a deer in headlights, I had to spill the beans to the wife (TJ), the mistress (Madoka), and the kid (Anya). All jokes aside, I'm glad that it happened because similarly to TJ, Madoka is truly a woman who is passionate and skilled in her craft. Whenever you're in an appointment, you know you're in good hands from the get-go, and unlike some aestheticians that just "do the job," Madoka actually takes her time to ensure that whatever service she's providing for you is done to the best of her ability. I don't think I've ever had a brazilian where I've felt completely satisfied as there are often small strips here and there or areas that could've been more taken care of, but with Madoka (and with your permission), she'll ensure that she gets every single hair off of you that she can. She's also a great conversationalist as my appointments with her often feel like a catch-up with a girlfriend, rather than an appointment (even with the heated wax). Overall, if you're looking for a professional in hair removal, I would highly recommend Madoka. I don't think you'll ever meet another aesthetician who is as skilled and passionate as she is about her craft. And the work that she does is truly magnificent. Even after all these years, I still find myself in awe after an appointment just as I had when I first saw Madoka, and I think that speaks volumes with how phenomenal of an aesthetician she is. Love, love, love this place! I would give it 10 stars if I could. From the moment I walked through the door into the reception and waiting area that was more reminiscent of an ideal summer retreat (oh yes, May I just hang out here, pretty please?), I hoped I would be a client for life at Face & Body. I was greeted by a very friendly gal named Anya, who gave me a form to complete. She excused herself while I filled out the form, a standard, one-page waiver and informational document. Once I completed the form I was promptly greeted by Madoka, the owner, aka, "Waxing Goddess." She was genuinely sweet and led me to the treatment room where I was to receive my waxing services. The room was very clean and comfortable, if not for the treatment bed it would have made a nice place to relax and enjoy a book! There were wipes for freshening up, and a towel to cover up exposed areas, if you know what I mean, tee hee. Madoka always ensured my comfort and explained everything in a pleasing and professional way. She was so easy to talk to, and showed only pure authenticity in her skill and lovely personality. I'm such a stickler for excellence in customer service, and I don't go back to places that offer lukewarm friendliness or insincerity (which are increasingly becoming the status quo). It's not even a bit of concern at Face and Body. These ladies possess the type of kindness that is more of a rarity these days. The individualized attention I was given was so deeply appreciated, especially when receiving such a personal service as this. I had originally gone in for a deep bikini wax, being it was my first visit. I had planned to see how comfortable I felt before I decided to go with a full Brazilian, which is what I normally would get. Madoka was so thoughtful to ask what service I usually get, and said that she probably would have enough time to do a full Brazilian so I said yes! Madoka was very efficient and gentle, and I did not feel any discomfort, whatsoever. She actually finished within the time allotted but it didn't feel rushed at all. When I was done, I picked up a salon menu and was so eager to make another appointment that I tried to think of what else I could have waxed lol! Other services include a complete menu of waxing from head to toe, front to back; lash lifts and infusion; lash and brow tinting; and henna brow tinting. Good news for the guys. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE!! My friend had Madoka when we did our brows together at the Waxing Company and then told me that she has her own business now. I decided to make an appointment online to get my brows threaded. Very simple, you can go on their website to make an appointment and it will send you a text message to remind you about your appointment. The receptionist that used to work at the Waxing Company now works at Face & Body! If you want to micro-blade your brows, TJ is also located in the same place! There is parking, but only park in the stalls that says 2A: Beauty. The rest are dentists? but heard that you can park in those stalls during after-hours. I went on a weekend so there was plenty of parking. When you walk in, it feels cozy like a home. They offer tea or water when you come in and after the service. Since I only did my brows, Madoka told me to monitor my brows for the week and if I didn't like it to contact her so she could fix them for free :) read more

Following these theme of female empowerment and my undying sense of loyalty the caterpillars on my face ermmm eyebrows have developed for Madoka, it was a no brainer for me to follow her where ever she goes. After eight years experience working for "the man," Madoka took the leap into being a boss babe sharing the space with another esthetician. The new spot off of King Street shares a lot with Serina's and is located on the second floor. The space has wonderful natural light and has a clean and airy feel to it with large treatment rooms. Unlike her previous space where you could often hear conversations in the hall and sometimes in other rooms, the rooms here offer buffering of sound and allow for more secret sharing. Those familiar with what could at times be a limited schedule at Madoka's previous place of business will be pleased at her expanded business hours and availability. Appointments can be booked via text or by phone with online booking coming soon. If you have unruly eyebrows, are in need of a bikini wax or any other kind of waxing service and are looking for a place, look no further (unless it means I can't get an appointment and then if so go away!) Although the shop can be a little hard to find shop owner Madoka sent a new client welcome text that allowed me to find the business with no problem. Upon arrival I was warmly greeted with a refreshing ice tea and settled into a private room. Madoka was professional and friendly throughout the service and the results of my service were fantastic. Additionally Madoka offers a free touch up within the week if you are disappointed or change your mind regarding brow shape. I've been going to Madoka for my Brazilian waxes since she left the Waxing Co. and I'll never go anywhere else! Like, literally. NEVER. You could not pay me to go anywhere else. I live in Ewa and will not hesitate to make the trek out to town. Madoka is an amazing human being and she's AWESOME at what she does. Face & Body Hawai'i is an amazing spa that specializes in skin care and waxing. It is located in the heart of Honolulu. If you are worrying about about parking, you don't have to, because they have a private parking lot. Once you park you have to take the stairs on the right side of the building to get to the second level. When the door opens, be prepared to leave the hustling metropolis of Honolulu behind you and enter an oasis of peace and relaxation. The decor is minimalistic and modern, the place is clean and inviting. I had a chance to meet the owner Madoka, who is also the esthetician in charge, and was very impressed with her professional knowledge and her customer service. She is awesome. I've been a client of Madoka's for at least a couple of years now, and my loyalty to her is unwavering. When I called her old place of business and found out she was no longer there, I went into full panic mode...and then I went into full creeper, stalker mode. A couple hours, and many frantic texts to people who are in the industry, I got in contact with Madoka. There's no one I trust to violently rip hairs from my body! Her new place is SO beautiful and clean and welcoming. I am so happy Madoka was able to take this leap and become her own boss. She shares the space with another esthetician. I'm not sure what happens in this joint but it's nothing short of a miracle. I went once with my girlfriend and it changed MY life. She goes in one of these rooms for about an hour while the super nice lady person at the front desk gives me iced tea as I play on my phone. My girlfriend later comes out and greets me skin smooth, eyebrows tamed, and eyelashes that take your breath away. Like that one song in Top Gun. I've been going to Madoka for over a year at her old location. It's great she has her own place now. Guys, you won't find anyone else better at doing male Brazilians. It is quick and painless. And she doesn't leave any stray hairs. OK, the first Brazilian will hurt. And the second one will hurt a bit. But you won't even notice it by the third time. Madoka also makes you feel welcome every time. You won't feel weird for being the only guy in the waiting room with all other women. And guys, I highly recommend getting your underarms waxed. It is sooo much more comfortable. Your underarm hair rubbing against your skin, and slathering on deodorant on over the hair, so gross. Hidden gem ,totally recommend. My normal waxing place was closed so I found her on Yelp and she's the best! I got my brows threaded ..Afterwards she asked me if i liked it and I told her I did ..she proceeded to let me know that I can contact her to fix anything if I change my mind , and so I did contact her to go back a couple days later because I realised I changed my mind and I wanted a certain shape on my brows , she was happy to fix it and didn't charge me .
