Finally tried the pizza, frozen pizza is much better. It was cold when we got it overcooked and tasted like cardboard. Once was enough

Destiny, the cashier, was very friendly and offered to take our order at the kiosk. I appreciated that because the kiosk can be overwhelming if you don't know the menu. She knew the menu and kindly answered our questions. I got an avocado burger with bacon it was delicious!! I will say though for that and a small drink it was over 14$ which is very high to me. I'm not sure the value is there but you WILL get friendly service AND delicious food. After lunch we both got dessert. I'm the boring person who ordered a plain vanilla small custard- it was frozen hard like ice cream but very creamy, refreshing, tasty and smooth. My friend opted for the coffee milk shake- I tasted it and it was delicious!!! When we were eating a young man checked on us while walking by and I mentioned it was our first time there and he asked if our expectations were met. I really had no expectations but I was happy with the experience. He seemed very glad to hear that. As a water drinker I REALLY liked the tap of fresh, cold, triple filtered water! The kids who work there are top notch and seem to work well together and they know a thing or two about providing excellent customer service! Oh- and through the course of our meal the place steadily got more crowded too! PS The restrooms were clean and fresh too!

I saw they did shakes so I went with the special tiramisu shake and it was really good! I also had their special lemonade and it was pretty good as well. I finally managed to get my car in Cali's parking lot. But, I had to wait for another patron (which…read moredidn't take long) to arrive and I followed them into the restaurant. It's not easy to figure out where the enrtance is. Okay, so I ordered the the ground beef tacos for $12 bucks. You get 2 tacos in a basket with tortilla chips. The chips are a bit weird and different, still not sure how much I liked them. Like Moe's, they have a salsa bar with 4 salsa choices along with various condiments. The salsa's are tasty and I like the flavor in all 3 I tried. I ordered tacos and what they brought to my table resembled a tacos, but the taco expectation ended there. These so called tacos, to me, aren't realy tacos at all. Their assembelled usinf both a hard shell and a soft shell (Taco Bell offers something similar). Whatever you call it, taco is not the thought that comed to mind when eating it. I was hungry and did manage to eat both of the tacos, but considered throwing out the 2nd taco. I was confused and unsure what I was eating. The ground beef wasn't bad, but my main complaint at a Mexican Eatery nearby (Plaza Azteca} is the same. The ground beef is unseasoned. This is fundamentally wrong to me. All the Taco Kits at the grocery store come with a seasoning packet to add to the ground beef when preparing the tacos. I left unhappy, that's not to say I wouldn't try their burrito's. They looked good as seen on other patrons tables. I'm 70 years old and the theme of Cali reminds me of the 60's/70's. The decor, interior, and interior are psychedelic. Retro throwback to the hippie days. The staff reflects that theme - they came across in a kind weird way to me; but not in a bad way! Their is no shortage of happy campers enjoying their lunch (I went at 1PM). It seems like a cult following which speaks to the freshness and quality of the food served. I'm still unsure what was in the alleged tacos I ate. Lol!

When I found out they were closing shortly I said that if we couldn't dine in we would have no problem going somewhere else and they insisted we stay. The manager was then also very helpful with menu selections and taking our large order (3 adults, 5 kids). I wish I had gotten his name so I could properly praise his professionalism with us. I ordered "The Big Way" which is basically their version of a Big Mac without the middle piece of bread. It came with two patties, American cheese, onions, pickles, lettuce, and thousand island dressing. The burgers here are hard pressed in the "smashburger" style. I found the burger to be quite good. I'm not sure that I found the burger to be worth the price though. These prices were similar to a Shake Shack type stop (which I do find to be a better burger) and the way you ordered was also interesting. The burger was $8 and change, but then to add fries and a drink to make it a combo was an additional $5. It isn't criminal to charge $13 for this amount of food, but comparing it with other combos that fall in that range, I am not sure it is competitive. The fries were pretty good, and they were very fresh. Directly from the fryer to our table, they were too hot to even eat at first, which is a good thing. Lightly seasoned and crisp, I enjoyed them. I would come back here or try another of their locations (I didn't realize how large of a chain this is) but as of right now it's definitely outside of my top 3 smashed burger style chain spots. With that said though, Jake's Wayback Burger - Didn't Suck!
