This was such a wonderful yoga studio. The environment is warm, spiritual and relaxing. I'm just so bummed I didn't know about it sooner and was only able to take one class. I enjoyed a waves 2 class and as a beginnerish intermediate student I was able to keep up. The room is dimly lit, warm and they played amazing tunes. Loved it so much! Decent yoga studio in Princeville. Came to Waves on a recent trip to Kauai. I also visited Metamorphose in Kilauea on the same trip, which was much more my vibe. No question, Waves has great instruction, but it's more of a high impact fitness studio than a peaceful environment for yoga and spiritual practice - just depends on what you're looking for. My one gripe is that my instructor wasn't super friendly when I explained I was from out of town and rented a mat online for class. I had to sort of awkwardly stand off to the side while everyone set up before class and had to remind her to show me where the mats were at the very last minute. I felt like sort of an after thought. I guess I have two gripes - the Waves clientele is much more Lululemon, than 8 Limbs of Yoga, if that helps you know which north shore studio is your scene. (Bonus - you can pop from yoga in Kilauea into a new organic market or local coffee shop). read more

I am staying in Princeville for a few weeks. Tried out a few yoga studios in the area. I have to say Wave was my favorite. The students and instructors were great. Love love loved popping into this yoga studio while visiting Kauai. I hadn't done a class in 3 years but I somehow seamlessly fit right in here. The directions are clear and everyone is super engaged. I would have enjoyed more physical engagement (adjust hips etc) from the instructor, but she was still attentive, attuned, and a wonderful teacher. Will definitely be back next time on Kauai. This was an AMAZING full body workout (Waves 2). It felt less like traditional yoga, more like vinyasa with some added barre moves (short pulses) to it. If you are on the north shore this is the place to go for yoga. I went twice during my week long stay and it was a really authentic experience. The instructors were both excellent and unique in their own essence. It is really easy to establish an account online and pre pay while checking out the different services they offer. After a week of traveling across the country, and eating all sorts of delicious food (and enjoying cocktails too!) I was feeling happy emotionally, but my body was completely out of wack. I needed to move and detox, and just sweat out toxins. Courtney welcomed me to the studio and asked about what my intentions were behind my practice that day. I immediately took to her warm nature and energy. Her class was exactly what I needed. I really appreciated all of her adjustments (she asked before class whether this was OK with us). It was clear that she knew exactly where to push and support each one of her yogis. Her class was an appropriate challenge. She included many traditional movements but also some fun poses that I had never tried before. I also loved the infrared heat of the studio. This aided in my much needed detox. I recently was fortunate to escape winter in upstate New York and even luckier to find this sweet studio in Princeville Hawaii. Lulu, the owner, made certain I felt safe and supported while offering a challenging and creative Vinyasa flow. After one class I purchased a 1 month unlimited package and sampled several classes a week. I was able to practice with Avalon, whose attention to detail and alignment helped my focus and Michelle who offered some unique transitions to traditional poses. Each played amazing music which complimented class. I have been practicing yoga many years and enjoy visiting local studios when I travel. This time I was recovering from hip replacement surgery and was concerned that I would encounter teachers who did not understand anatomy. My concerns were unfounded - the Waves family neither pampered or pushed me past my limits. I also appreciate the strict Covid protocol followed by the studio. Hot Power Vinyasa is primarily offered and I felt safe maskless. Fellow students were a diverse group of locals and visitors who were extremely welcoming and encouraging. If I there were more than five stars to grant Waves I would hand them all I had. read more

Ok sometimes u meet people that u just know were born to do what they do. That's what I felt when I walked into Lulu's waves studio. Just a feeling of homecoming. But also This is one of those happy-and-sad-at the-same-time stories. I've been visiting from California and suddenly found this place. It was like a dream come true, especially the one rocking, vigorous yet also profound and relaxing class I took with lulu. Really one of the top classes I've taken in the last 15 years! was sooo happy to discover, I bought the week-long travelers pass and looked forward to trying all the different class options, sculpt, fusion, c3 and more... But now the sad part:( later that same day I slipped on a muddy hiking trail and pulled a muscle. So maybe no more yoga while I'm in town, not sure yet... Everything about the class and studio was a completely joyous and profound experience. Even the music was fabulous.This studio is so good it makes me want to move here! And who knows? Maybe I will. Waves Yoga Kauai is the place to be if you are interested in doing hot yoga under amazing infrared heaters! There is something about the infrared that is so awesome compared to the other studios I have been to that use a regular heater. The space is SUPER clean, usually smells like lemongrass essential oils, even just after a sculpt class which is the most intense workout offered. Every teacher I have experienced(I think I've taken atleast 1 class from them all, with the exception of Tahitian) are kind, present, and knowledgeable, giving you a satisfying experience no matter what class you take. Lulu(the owner) seems to always be smiling:-) she is very welcoming and her classes are a treat(but be ready to work)!. Waves is a GEM on the North Shore of Kauai that you cannot miss. read more

This is a lovely little space, but I would have a better experience if they had current schedule cards in the little box outside their front door. I grabbed a schedule as I walked by over the weekend and was therefore surprised when the yin class I thought I was taking (according to the schedule I had picked up) was actually a vinyasa class. Not exactly what I needed on a hot day, but I rolled with it. The class was pretty average, nothing special to mention. I think for the price (comparable to what I pay in LA but for longer classes), they should offer at least a 75-minute class. The $3 mat rental seems steep, but at least the mats were clean and high quality, and I get that is probably a good moneymaker in a place where many people are traveling. So, lessons learned here: call or check online to make sure the class you're taking is really the one you're expecting; be okay with paying $24 for a mediocre 60-min class; and, if possible, bring your own mat :) read more

We just came back from Lulu's Sunday morning class, awesome! This was a hot yoga class, not Bikram. She is a knowledgeable teacher and her flows and transitions were amazing. Class was definitely a little challenging. Lulu was helpful with her comments and adjustments. I absolutely loved the sequencing. She gave options for people who needed to do something easier. She is enthusiastic and I could tell that she cares about her students, my friend just said: Lulu nicely described us as "seasoned." I would highly recommend checking her out. Today I went to my first yoga class at Waves and instantly fell in love. The studio is super clean, fresh, really cute clothes Lulu sells there, and the vibe feels really positive and great. I took waves 2 class with Lulu and feel SOSOSOOO good and sweated a gallon it feels like. Really love the style of teaching, she encourages pushing the edge, but also listening to your body and what feels best for your individual self. I love Waves! My parents live in Kauai and I look forward to visiting them every trip because well, its Kauai, but also because I love going to Waves. My dad even jokes that I'm just on a yoga retreat while I'm here because I go so often. The classes are all amazing - all of the teachers are nurturing, instructive, calming, yet challenging. As I was looking for nearby yoga studios I came across Waves Yoga. My mom and i decided to try the waves 2 class. It was beyond amazing, whether you're a seasoned practitioner or a beginner you'll fit right in. The atmosphere was very welcoming and had good/calm vibes. It was a very physical class with a lot of holds and flows but you were always welcomed to take child's pose. This studio was very unique and is a paradise within paradise. The only thing is that with the infrared heating you do tend to sweat a lot so you should bring an extra towel with you and water. As well when finding the studio the direct details of the location are online so be sure to check that so you don't get lost, google maps can be tricky with helping you find it. Overall a great studio with great vibes and people. Can't wait to be back! read more
