I first attended a Bikram yoga class at The Yoga House almost 5 years ago. At the time Aimee and McKell had only been open a few months, and ever since, I have tried to attend a class whenever I visit Kauai. I recently attended a few more classes and have found that Aimee and McKell have just as wonderful studio today as they did 5 years ago. Even though I'm not a regular practitioner at the Yoga House, I was recognized and greeted as though I was a regular. The room is small, however, they claim they can get 41-42 practitioners, which would be very tight. However the classes I attended there weren't nearly that many. Even though it was a smaller group, the instruction was such that it was motivating and there was great energy in the room, which speaks volumes to the talent of the instructors. The Yoga House has exterior showers, which on Kauai with the warm weather it's not a big deal to shower outside. I personally love the outdoor shower. There is only one toilet/change room. So it's best to come to class in whatever gear your plan on wearing in the room. Bring your mat, towel, water and a health dose of energy for this wonderful studio. read more

Very close knit community. Amazing teachers. I felt very honored to take class here. It's a GEM!

This is one of my favorite bikram yoga studios. It's in a cute building. The instructor I had was great. The first thing I noticed is how clean everything is and finally no stinky carpet! The studio and the overall class had a great vibe. The studio itself is about 400 sq ft. I loved loved loved the outdoor showers. I know some people may think it's strange, but for me it was refreshing and was prefect for the entire experience (oh and there was no hot water). There's only 1 toilet, but it was clean and it was nice people weren't changing in there or taking forever. Pretty cool to hear roosters during your savasana. Excellent experience, loved it! read more

All Classes are taught by Bikram certified instructors and are all top notch, Sara, Lora, Jimmy and Gretchen are all awesome instructors, taking you thru 26 postures and 2 breathing exercises... This is the best place EVER to do Bikram Yoga - I have taken classes all over Los Angeles and the USA....and I actually love it here better than anywhere! Aimee and her sister make Bikram yoga very unbikram like....meaning there is a lot of love and encouragement! They remember your name and the studio is adorable. Besides, doing Bikram in a tropical local is the best way to do hot yoga too - - because of the humidity - it's not just a dry heat - - it's more natural. I wish this studio was actually in LA, then I would take this type of yoga more!@ read more

I just returned from a bikram yoga retreat run by Judy Louie, the owner of the bikram yoga in Kauai. I cannot say enough good things about the retreat. We practiced yoga at the studio twice daily. I was very impressed by all of the teachers. As Judy says, the teachers at this studio "kill you with kindness". Most teachers have been teaching for many years and while knowledgeable and motivating did not have the drill sergeant tone typical of many bikram teachers. A welcome change in a spiritual setting such as Kauai. Though this definitely wasn't the hottest studio I've practiced in, the humidity made up for it. My only complaint was that the wood floors of the studio were full of puddles by the end of class. I'm not sure if this is a good thing b/c they could wash the floors b/w classes or if it's bad b/c it's pretty inevitable that you will have some contact with the slippery floors at some point during class. Also, I am not sure the mats are adequately cleaned b/c classes (for my liking anyway) so I would advise bringing your own. read more

A very Hawaiian Bikram experience. Great studio. Not as hot as some studios. But the humidity of Kuaui will quickly become apparent. Flooring, mats and studio in general is clean and well kept. Teachers are teaching with the aloha spirit, laid back and supportive. They have a great price for visitors. If you are looking to further the relaxing benefits of yoga. This studio will be a good place to start. read more

If you love bikram, you'll love this place. Some folks have said it's not as hot as other studios, and that's true. It doesn't feel heated at all when you enter the room, but every class I've attended has been packed and the room heats up after about 15 minutes. I purchased five classes for $55 (student rate) while I was visiting Kauai, but I wish I could've afforded to go more. Tip | Get there about 15 minutes early because the studio is on the small side, and it fills up fast. read more

Great Bikram yoga studio. You will get an excellent workout, and the teachers have a lot of experience. Also there is acupuncture, massage, and other yoga style classes at the studio. Another wonderful thing here are the cool, outdoor showers read more

This is a great Bikram studio with a totally unique Hawaii twist-outdoor showers! Set in a great central Kapa'a location, the teachers are pure Bikram teachers, and deliver the class in a predictable and positive way. They also offer acupuncture and massage (Jim Carney delivered a great deep massage). There are avocados, aloe, and bananas growing in the back yard! You will love deepening your practice at this studio. read more

When I'm able, I always like to find a Bikram studio in order to continue my practice while I'm on vacation. I'm very dedicated to my home studio & somewhat picky, so finding a good replacement can sometimes be rough, but The Yoga House was definitely a good find. They are obviously used to out-of-towners & yogis who just do drop-in classes, so I didn't feel out-of-place at all. A drop-in class plus mat rental is $17, & they have package deals if you are going to be in the area & know you will be able to fit in more classes during your stay. Only complaint is that I wish they had more classes available (only 2 classes/day on weekdays).....(note: it is a traditional Bikram class--for those wh might be used to other forms of yoga!) read more

Great studio, great energy, great instruction! The room is clean, teachers are accessible and knowledgeable. The best hatha yoga on Kauai.

Amazing beautiful yoga house! The workout is amazing and the teachers are great! Scott, who is visiting from Canada, was amazing! They have great prices for first time practitioners and island visitors. They have a great thing going there and I hope that more places like this pop up on the island!! read more

New favorite practice! Yay for the Yoga House! I am in Kauai for a wedding and decided to give Bikram a try to help me squeeze into my bridesmaid dress! I called ahead and talked with one of the owners who was so lovely and helpful- she advised me to come in hydrated and not too eat too close to class. I was the first person there, and was intimidated pulling up to the studio but I always love a new challenge and walked in to meet both the owners and instantly the nervousness was gone. These 2 helped me feel right at "home" - the studio is the Yoga House after all. The 90 minutes went by quickly, there were some tough moments but I was told in the beginning to "honor"my body and if I felt over whelmed or anxious to take a posture or 2 out and come back to it when I felt ready. I truly felt no judgment or insecurity when I took out a standing posture and then again a floor posture. I saw older people, one lady told me she was 70 and even a man with only one hand! and a great mix of men and women. I was wearing long pants my first class and before my second visit I bought some adorable shorts that I have worn everyday while being here. I think the owner makes them, Clovergirl. There are showers and a reverse osmosis water filter out side, they recycle and seem very conscientious. Like the other reviews I found the space to be super clean and nice. They carry Kombucha, which I never had until this trip- I call it yoga beer:) there is a sweet grassy area with a picnic table everyone chats at before and after class, there was always fruit brought in for people to take, passion fruits and limes and avo's - they take care of each other in way thats really sweet and so refreshing to see. I feel part of the community and hope I can find something similar when I return back to texas. These girls have made something special and this is my first review but I felt so cared for I wanted to give something back and share my experience. Cheers (with my yoga beer) to The Yoga House! These lovely ladies changed by life! Before attending my first class at The Yoga House I had only done yoga a couple of times (many years ago), and had never tried hot yoga before. I had such an amazing time in this warm, friendly, supportive atmosphere that I came back the next day, and the next day, and the next day! Then, I brought my Mom with me and she loved it, too. Bikram yoga really is for everyone! It's definitely worth a try, and your body and mind will thank you for it. read more

Great work out, and fun too. Loved the studio and Samantha

I had the worst Birkram Yoga experience of my life at Bikram Yoga Kapaa. I regularly go to yoga at home. The facility at home is clean and usually full but not to the point of having to touch other people, as was the case in Kapaa (-We were told it was good luck if you have to touch someone else). If you are claustrophobic in the least, this is not the place for you. About 1/2 way through the 90 minute session the smell and crowded condition started to make me feel queezy. My anxiety got worse when I remembered that the instructor had locked us into the facility. When I discretely motioned to the instructor (Sarah), that I needed to leave, she asked if it was an emergency and that I could go but what would my mother think, she suggested to class that I could go but I should instead do what my mother would feel was right. When I didn't respond and quietly picked up my mat she continued to make me feel bad in front of the class, saying, "You're not coming back? You can't finish the class?! There are only two poses left!" I felt so humiliated, I quickly left and cried outside of the facility. At the facility where I usually go, I've only had to stop one time in a year and it wasn't an issue. Our instructor, who studied directly under Bikram, cares about his students. He is firm but he suggests that students pay attention to their own bodies and limitations and he wouldn't lock us in and not let us out. Better to just go to the gym in Kauai. read more
