We were really looking forward to our first visit to Milkbox Bakery. We'd been following their…read morebeautiful Instagram account for some time, so were excited to purchase several different items. We came in to find about half of the pastries over baked or burnt. We ordered a brioche and a loaf of sourdough. The brioche was perfect and delicious, but the sourdough was very underproofed- dense and extremely gummy, which was so disappointing, especially considering the $9 price tag. I would go back to Milkbox in the future if I had heard that they'd improved their standards because it would be awesome to have a top notch local bakery.

We passed by the bakery, and opted not to go in because there were just a few pastries in the showcase at the time. Since this was late afternoon, we decided to go back in the morning for fresh pastries. My daughter went the next morning to do just that. We are in the middle of a global pandemic, so my daughter wore a mask into the bakery. She was virtually harassed and shamed for doing so by the employees of the bakery. The women behind the counter snickered and rolled their eyes. My daughter tried to ignore it and bought the pastries...which, by the way, were not at all outstanding and certainly not worth putting up with the attitude served by the employees.

A smile was hard to pry out of her. And while on vacation in a new town trying out a new place you want the experience to be fun or at a minimum inviting. Tried multiple items. Their raised donut holes were great. My croissant was raw in the middle - had to throw it away. Cream horn was delicious. The rest of our selections were just ok.

I had the chowder to start and my wife had the bisque, I preferred the savory and salty flavor of the chowder. We both enjoyed lobster rolls, because who in their right mind doesn't like a lobster roll. The grits were put together very well and the use of corn nuts brought back some nostalgia of when I was in high school and use to snack on them, who would have thought the crunch would pair so well with the creamy texture of the grits. Lastly, the dessert was a wonderful cake with quite a bit going on that was beyond what I could comprehend BUT my tastebuds enjoyed the ride. Great take on the Old Fashioned for a cocktail and the Burgundy Smash was refreshing! If you are in the mood for something different and you enjoy quality and fresh ingredient, you need to consider eating at this establishment. The service from the staff is warm and welcoming and the ambience of the restaurant is warm and modern.

Didn't have a great experience at Piggyback smoke house...hoping the cheesecake would be better. Yes, limited options but we still were able to pick out some pretty tasty looking cheesecakes. Mixed berry, blueberry and Oreo. They weren't' really that big of slices for the price. I guess I was expecting a little bigger piece for the price I paid. Oh well.... Pros: They tasted fresh and not to dense or sweet. Very good. The only con is the size.

We visited on a Friday afternoon around 2 pm and I was glad some of the baked goods were still available. I quickly picked up a few items: Dutch letters, almond horns, almond tarts, and blueberry filled Dutch windmills. The first three items have a strong but not overpowering almond flavor. I especially liked the almond horns which had a crunch but chewy and buttery texture. I also really liked the windmills and wished I had ordered the raspberry ones as well. It was buttery and flakey with just the right about of blueberry cream cheese filling.
