I recently got a haircut with Linh and it was great! My hair is wavy (type 2b) and I have a lot of hair so I was looking for a place that is more knowledgeable in cutting wavy hair. It was helpful to read reviews about others getting their textured or curly hair cut with Linh and to see pictures of those results. The location is small with two salon chairs and one rinsing sink, but it works so well and I really enjoyed the smaller setting. They put much thought into the space's decor and functionality so it doesn't feel cramped! Upon entering, Linh immediately welcomed me and offered me a drink and we started discussing what I was looking for. I recently cut my hair at a different salon but the cut didn't look great after I washed my hair later in the week. My hair was bottom-heavy and some parts dried more curly than others leaving my hair looking botched. She dry-cut my hair, washed it (she gives a great scalp massage!), cut it a little more, then styled it. During that time she recommended low-maintenance techniques and suggested some products. I asked for my hair to be styled naturally, so she diffused my hair with light products. It came out amazing and helped me see how the haircut came out. My whole experience with Linh was a total hair-changer! Yes, she's a true hair expert, hair doctor, and an amazing stylist. I'm so in love with my hair right now! It's been a while since my last haircut, and I was looking for someone who understands my hair. The first time I knew of Linh was back when she worked at a salon in Whitter, CA. This was a while back. She was not my hair stylist then, but I remembered being a creep and just watching her work her magic on her client. From the way she colored, cut, and styled that client's hair, I was blown away. Pun totally intended. I managed to find her on social media and followed her on Instagram (IG). At some point, she was located too far for me to attempt a cut, but I follow her work on IG and consistently see the beautiful way she colors and cuts her clients' hair. I am also really awed by the fact that because I follow her, I know she takes time to continue her education to grow her skills in her profession. For example, not only is Linh a color guru, I believe she is absolutely knowledgeable when it comes to wavy, curly, textured hair. A stylist who has experience with non-straight Asian hair is not quite as common from what I know. I have wavy, frizzy hair, so it has always been a struggle to find a stylist who understands my hair. When I found out Linh opened her small salon in Long Beach, I made the decision to officially, and finally, go in for a cut. And I was utterly impressed even more having finally conversed with her. Linh was meticulous in her questions. I appreciate this attention to detail because she asked me what I envisioned, what my concerns and challenges were as a wavy-hair girl, so she could understand and shape my cut. Then she asked about my wavy-hair routine from washing to styling. I have never had a stylist ask this of me before. I told her honestly it was going to take me some time to think through her questions since this was new to me, but I absolutely love that she wanted to get to know me and my hair. Linh took time brushing my hair out and then gave me a dry cut. After, she thoroughly washed my hair, gave me a light head massage, and shared with me that based on my scalp, she could tell I lacked sleep. Like what kind of witchcraft is this!? :) I mean I am sure many of us suffer from lack of sleep, but the way Linh explained it, totally made sense to me. She's definitely the hair doctor to me. Well, maybe a hair witch because of her incredible skills, which is like magic to me. I chopped off quite a bit of hair (length went from mid back to just past my shoulders after) and felt so much lighter. My hair is quite dry at the end, so Linh gave suggestions on products she recommended, and I never felt she was pushing products on me. Her recommendations truly felt like genuine concern for the health of my hair. I loved the layers Linh gave my hair and the tips she provided for the best care for my hair. Her salon is easy to find. For me, it was practically off a freeway exit. The name of the salon on the outside is called Surreal Salon, but Linh's actual salon suite that she owns is Waves Studio Hair Salon. Linh really is such a genuine and sweet soul with great skills. I highly recommend her, ESPECIALLY for those with wavy, curly hair. read more

I'm so happy I found Linh! As a middle-aged man without the greatest hairline or hair density, it's been a real challenge to find anyone who won't butcher my hair. At this point, I honestly wasn't sure if I had enough hair to do anything other than a buzz cut, but Linh assured me that wasn't the case and ended up giving me a hairstyle that I really liked. Linh worked with me to figure out what hairstyle would suit me based on my hairstyle preferences, state of my hair, and head shape. During the haircut, she would pause to show me the progress and confirm that we were going in the right direction. She spent time to explain why she was cutting my hair the way she was and pointing out my particular hair issues and how she was approaching them. This is a very detail-oriented art and Linh is clearly an expert. Also, Linh is a very kind and welcoming person who made me feel really at ease even though it was my first time being there. We had a great conversation about a whole host of topics--she's a fascinating person! When the haircut was done, she washed my hair and offered to style it. I have always had issues styling my own hair, so I wanted to see how she would approach it. Her techniques were much different than mine and much more effective! She took the time to explain what she was doing (and the rationale behind it) so I could try to do it myself at home. She even mentioned to take note of anything about the haircut that I didn't like or had concerns about so we could improve upon the cut next time.
