Do NOT waste your hard earned money. You're paying for a luxury hotel but it feels more like a motel. The rooms are clean but SMALL. No entertainment. No comfortable area to sit, relax and look out at the beach. But perhaps the biggest annoyance is that the food choices are next to ZERO. One restaurant is only open for dinner (so what do you do for breakfast and lunch), and one restaurant ONLY serves Mexican food. Zero choices and not at all the convenience you'd expect when you're paying $500 or $600 a night. Small area outside of Starbucks to sit, but they don't keep it clean. If you are concerned about COVID just know that almost no one inside or outside of the hotel wears masks (I did). I won't be coming back here. read more

My wife, daughter and friends had a reservation on Saturday for a spa day at The Wave. They were first time visitors and chose this as an alternate to the Ocean Place Spa which was booked. While the staff made every attempt to be helpful and nice, the facilities are ill conceived and do not cater to the volume of guests they book. Everything in both the women's and men's locker rooms and showers is designed for single users (as in 1 guest at a time sink, shower, etc.) which is literally the most unexpected configuration in a spa that had dozens of guests on site. The relaxation room is a shoe box and guests had to share ottomans to sit down back to back. My wife's party had to take turns changing in the men's locker room which despite having been cleaned was very repulsive to them. The treatment was absolutely lame and the prices outrageous relative to facilities and treatment. We do not recommend this spa for any reason whatsoever - do yourself a favor and book elsewhere so you don't ruin your day at the NJ shore. read more

Owned by Kushner Properties. Food at the restaurant was mediocre. Hotel lobby trying a little too hard to be cool. Nothing about this place made it worth going to again...No thanks. read more

The worst management you could ever find!!! Booked a room for 3 nights at $509 a night plus tax and "resort fee" yep whatever that means...so figure approx $600 a night. Upon check in and going to our room we realize room is way too small for us, I ask to move to a bigger room and agree to pay an up charge. They told me they could move us following morning we had to sleep in very tight quarters. Next morning I speak to a different manager that isn't aware of what was discussed with the other manager day before. This one tells me sure we could move you but you will have to move again following night. First manager forgot to mention that important information!!!! I refused to move 3 times with 5 family members. We were stuck in the tiniest room for $600 plus a night. Did absolutely NOTHING to accommodate us for a more comfortable, enjoyable short vacation. To add to this they never mentioned during check in that parking was an additional $58 a night!!!! Mind you, the manager is the one who checked us in!!!! Would NOT recommend this hotel unless you want to burn some money!!! read more

The resort is awesome! Front desk is very good as well. The only issue is the customer service in water park. Everyone that we came in contact with was very rude. Over haul on customer service is definitely needed with the staff. read more

i'd say maybe 3 and a half stars. i really liked the property, rooms were very nice although a little small. pool and pool deck quite small as well. friendly staff but the biggest issue i have is this isnt exactly a great value. be careful with valet, the price isnt posted but it's 55 bucks a day. standard rooms in the summer including a mandatory additional 55 resort fee are just south of 800 bucks a night if you valet as well...to stay in long branch. i love the pier village area but its limited, isnt really the jersey shore yet to me at least. but good for a quick getaway for a night or 2 tops. read more

Limited Service Hotel at best, don't pay more than $150/night! This is the worst hotel experience I ever had. Due to the lack of opportunities to travel this year, I thought the hefty price tag would guarantee the best and most exclusive service I can get. I have to warn you all, don't make the same mistake. For the same amount per night I am staying at the Naples or Sarasota Ritz Carlton or book one of the finest hotels in New York AND have money left for the opera and a dinner. We spent the weekend after Labor Day for a whopping $850/night and the service was horrible. And please dear management, if you dare to answer with one of your empty apologies, do not "covid" me, because the lack of service has nothing to do with limited services. Here is the list: - Hotel rental bikes in bad condition with loose saddles, etc. - No food/drink service at any bar, not at the pool, not at the beach (and I get the bar, this is due to covid), but you could have offered at least to-go-services for pool and beach - I wanted to pick up drinks to go at the bars, which was initially answered with a strict "no" would I not have made friends with one of the bar tenders over a certain Tequila brand - The manager of the Cantina barked at me, that "his" restaurant has nothing to do with the hotel and he is not selling me anything to go, so I should sit down or leave.... - Doors to the restaurant Cantina closed from the early evening, you have to walk around the entire hotel to get to the restaurant - No cosmetic mirror in the room - When the closet door is open, the second person in the room cannot pass the between bed and closet - Multiple servers wearing masks under their noses - Most of the restaurant staff unfriendly (compare to the restaurants in the village where people were delightful) - No room service at all - Reception staff mostly in backroom - Valet/parking attendant appears for three days in a row with the same shirt showing the menu of the past three days on his chest Please people, don't make the same mistake, avoid that hotel like the pestilence. Would they have been nice, I would have even told them about their construction defects (because this is what I do), but alas, they shall suffer the consequences. And by the way, this hotel is in operation for just 18 months. It certainly does not deserve to be part of Preferred Hotels and Resorts. read more

Worst customer service ever. You cannot book online right now or over the phone. The system is down! Days of this. This hotel is also over priced for what it is. There are just so few options in the area. The staff are rude and management does not care at all. read more

I hate to write this because I was expecting such great things from this place. My boyfriend and I usually stay at the Bungalow but have been wanting to try this hotel for the longest. Sad to say we won't be returning. We got a one night stay in the normal room with an ocean view. Unfortunately, it wasn't up to par with my expectations. The room wasn't clean, the view was just okay. Half the view was of a parking lot and new construction across the street. The lobby area was beautiful but the room I wasn't impressed with. Looks like we will be heading back to the Bungalow. I just wasn't impressed with the Wave Resort. read more

Horrible customer service. We were a large group of 20 people staying at the hotel for 1-night. Each paid approximately $1,000 per room for the 1-night. Staff was very disrespectful and rude throughout our stay. We kindly asked for a late check out, they said NO. Then, the hotel had a power outage in the morning, so we again kindly asked for a later check-out. Again, they said NO. They said if we would like to stay later, we could book a room for the full night (another $1,000). Obviously, we didn't want to do that so they demanded that we leave the premises upon check out at 11am. We tried using the hotel amenities (beach/pool) after our 11:00am check-out and they forced us to leave! Never been treated like this at a hotel. Especially when paying $1,000/night! SAVE YOUR MONEY AND STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE. read more

Just checked out from wave resort it's was very nice place to stay everyone was very friendly and helpful, we absolutely loved jake the beach boy and the other two young ladies working with him jake went out of his way to make sure we have the best beach experience ever his customer service was on point with every little detail great resort will definitely come back read more

worst service i have ever encountered in my life. not only was the hotel staff motto the word "no" they also did it in the most condescending way! horrible treatment! i thought i was staying at a motel for 90 dollars a night not a resort for 900!! power went out, no late check out (due to covid but would let you pay for a late checkout because covid doesnt effect their bottom line), asked to exit the pool multiple times on our 1 night trip due to covid and lastly after telling us "we" can stay past check out on the beach(which doesnt cost them anything) the staff made their way to the beach at 11am sharp asking our party of 20 to leave because we are no longer staying there. this is a garbage hotel with garbage service. if your looking for an overpriced hotel that uses covid strictly to their benefit then this is the place for you. stay far far away people! this is a rat trap you dont wanna get stuck in! #rattrap read more

We booked a room to come up and visit my parents for my fathers 68th birthday. With all of the corona virus craziness and how quickly it has escalated over the past week, my parents understandably asked that we not come up. When we called to cancel our room we were told there would be no refund even with these extenuating circumstances. We asked if we could just have a credit toward a future stay or to the restaurant, but were told absolutely not. We were looking forward to staying at the wave and making it our new go-to hotel when we come up to NJ but definitely not after this awful customer service! read more

Front desk service person was horrible. Messed up our booking and tried to blame us. Then put us in a room that had 1 bed for three people. Wasted too much time dealing with this. Everything in the room is WAY overpriced, but we were dying of thirst in the middle of the night, so we drank the two tiny $3 Evian bottles. I went down to the front desk to see if we could get more water, NO ONE could be found. There was a note left on the counter that they would be back, and the front doors were WIDE open. Not safe. So, no water, but condoms available for purchase (seriously.). On top of that rooms are small and poorly designed. No lock on bathroom door. In addition, I picked up all kinds of garbage on the beach. Parking people and beach valets get an A+ for service and niceness, though. read more

The Wave Resort is one of my favorite places! It is EXCEPTIONAL in both service and comfort. I came here to stay for a long weekend in September (it was still warm enough to walk the beach and boardwalk) and let me say, I didn't even want to leave my room! I cried when checking out! This hotel is so beautiful and accommodating. I stayed in a deluxe king room (not ocean facing) but I could still see the beautiful ocean and the gorgeous pool from my balcony. The rooms here are gorgeous and very modern/luxe looking. My room was perfect with a king sized bed, walk in shower, balcony, large tv, mini bar, and small fridge. I honestly want to remodel my bathroom after this bathroom lol. The hotel staff were so friendly and nice, I couldn't say better things about them. I also loved that your room key card is essentially a bracelet you wear so that you don't lose it when walking around Pier Village, and it allows only you to get onto your floor (for safety reasons). The cafe inside the hotel is delicious, room service is great, and the hotel layout is very easy to navigate. The prices are steep, but its New Jersey lol. There is also a $200 hold fee placed on your card upon check in (in addition to your room cost) that is to ensure you don't smoke in the room/ trash the room. Totally understandable. I loved Wave, and would stay here again in a heartbeat, although I'm sure it books up in the summer very quickly. Pier village is lots of fun and this hotel feels like a home away from home! read more

This is the worst hotel for the money. I have stayed here a few times as I wanted to give it a few chances. I visit Long Branch, NJ often. They are grossly overpriced for the horrific service. They will not allow you to use the amenities (the beach) before check in and after check out. So for $500+ a night you're only allowed to use their beach from 4 pm till 11am the check out day. I have been going to Ocean Place resort for a number of years just down the road and they are more than accommodating in this regard. I plan to continue coming to Long Branch but I will only stay at Ocean Place. I would suggest avoiding The Wave as it's the biggest rip off! read more

I came during the winter season, and granted there is most definitely more to do during the summer, it's mostly the surrounding shops/businesses that are responsible for that extra summer fun. I came to the hotel for Valentines Day weekend for a romantic and relaxing spa getaway and felt I was incredibly overcharged for the room and the amenities, especially in the winter when most things are closed. I can't imagine how much it is in the summer time. I also went to get a pricey massage with my fiancé that was definitely not worth how much I spent. Additionally, for 2 regular (barely 50 minute) massages, I spent almost $400 while I can get 2 deep tissue (1+ hour) for $60 elsewhere. The staff is super friendly and I appreciate their hard work but the charge for the "resort" was well overpriced. Unfortunately my experience here wasn't the best and I would not come here for a 'resort' experience again. read more

This is not a luxury hotel. It is a newer hotel but has the same old feel of what you come to expect from the Jersey shore. Bad service, temporary employees who could care less if you enjoy your stay and unorganized and rude management. Everyday there were no towels for the beach which were supposed to be provided. The beach staff (young men) were rude and argumentative, I was understanding that it's not their fault they can't provide towels but They grab your chairs at 4:50 on the dot and told us to take our junk with us when we leave. The pool is small and disgusting. The water is cloudy and who knows what is growing in there. It felt like a health hazard. The bar tender at the pool is rude and rolls his eyes. He complained that he had to serve over 100 people, so i guess in his head he's allowed to be rude for doing his job . The rooms were clean so the cleaning staff are the only employees who seem to take their jobs seriously. So bottom line is your paying $1000 a night for a $300 a night at best hotel. The only thing they have going for them is location. Look elsewhere if your expecting to get what you paid for. read more

First off, I don't think I ever left any type of bad review before; that's how bad I felt this hotel service was. Don't get me wrong, the hotel was nice, but the service & hospitality at the front desk, was an absolute ZERO. Worst I have ever experienced (at least, form the 3 individuals that I worked with). 1. 2 month prior to my wedding, I wanted to book a room at this new hotel, for my wife & me, after our wedding. I had spoken to one of the hotel representatives over the phone & advised that it was going to be my wedding night and I would like to get a full ocean view room (if not, I will go to the Ocean Place Hotel & Resort--but called here first, as I wanted to check out this new hotel). She said there is only one type of room that can guarantee this view & it is $715 per night; I said okay & confirmed it. I believe I paid the most, out of any hotel guest that was there, as an average room goes for $300. But when I got to the hotel at around 2:00am (because it was my wedding), they told me that I was too late & my room has been rearranged; and rearranged to a mostly parking lot view. They didn't even move my room to a partial view that looks over the pool (which I would have just let go). The agent at the front desk had confirmed the reservation said full ocean view, but there is nothing she can do, because the hotel is fully occupied. 2. As I was not happy about this change, I tried to ask the same girl (at the front desk), can we at least get a late check out. She said, "I'm sorry, we are fully occupied tomorrow as well & need you out by 12:00pm". 3. If any other hotel knew that was your wedding night, you think they would arrange some items in the room, to congratulate you?? Not even a single flower or a card that said congratulations on your wedding. NOTHING. But this is something that is extra, and I can't expect this from them. Just a thought though. 4. The next day, I wake up and speak to other agents at the front desk. I explained what happened (same as above). They said, we are sorry and we cannot give you any compensation. I said, I paid for a full ocean view & got a parking lot view & when I asked for a late check out, she would not apply it. They said, sorry you came too late & we moved you. Nothing we can do, not even a dollar off. 5. As I'm calling my credit card company to dispute the charge (in front of them), the manager walks out. He had a terrible attitude & was very nasty & was not looking to offer anything either. Then he saw I was on the phone with AMEX & said I can give you $115 off. But you're already disputing the charge, so I guess you can just leave. read more

This spot left a completely bad taste in my mouth. I arrived to the hotel expecting to go into my room after the check in time at 11am. They gave me the wrong room and told me my initial room was book and that i could only have the last room available which was a double queen bedroom. (It was just me and my partner). Then i was told i couldn't even get into the room until 3pm. It was a total waste of an experience. And i do not recommend. If your looking at an over priced and over saturated hotel, then this is the place to be. read more

Hotel still needs some brushing up to do before the season opens. The staff is all very friendly but they need training. The restaurant on site lacks experience. I placed an order for take out and the presentation was sub par. They put the hummus in two small salad dressing containers which was less than appealing to eat from. I had also asked for cucumbers and carrots on the side since one of us eating couldn't eat the pita. Well we were charged extra for the veggies and the pita bread wasn't provided. The acoustics and sound in the hotel were sub par. There was a big party on the floor above us and saying it was loud is an understatement. It sounded as if the party was in our room. This is going to be a problem for the hotel if they are going to continue to host large events in the evening hours while guests are sleeping. I would say the walls overall are very thin too. There was some noisy guests on our floor and they sounded as if they were in our room as well. The hotel is right on the water and the views from the balcony were pretty. It's right next to pier village so you can walk to everything. The valet parking is a nice touch. read more

Ocean view was partial view. Faced construction site. Once on balcony was a little better but very noisy with all the construction going on. No chair or table in room. Never in my life stayed at hotel with no chairs or tables.. Like another reviewer notes never once asked if I parked. The bed and shower were good. Valet and maid service very good. Front desk not so much. There is definitely potential here with the location but much to improve on. Should be a 5 star resort read more

From the moment you walk in until you leave, you are greeted by a wonderful and very friendly staff who go out of their way to make sure everything about your stay is pleasant. This was my second stay at Wave. The first time I had problems with my room and service. The front desk staff and Mr. Julian Payne (General Manager) took the time to make sure the issues were resolved quickly. On my second visit I was very satisfied with the hotel, staff and restaurant. I will continue to return because of the exceptional cleanliness of the rooms, wonderful staff and delicious food. read more

My girlfriends and I do a girls night every summer. For the price we paid for this hotel, it was a great let down. We woke up at 7 am to jack hammering outside our room, the heater in the pool broke, the beach chairs pictured on the website were not the beach chairs they had on the beach, bartending staff at pool bar was not very accommodating or friendly, and the pool area is very small. I will not be visiting Long Branch anytime soon! read more

The Wave Resort is so wonderful in so many ways. It is not only beautiful and spotlessly clean. They have wonderful customer service. Going through the power outage, having to work and having a dog has been very stressful. They went out of their way to help us and make us calm. I only live 30 minutes away, but will be back just to have a stress free vacation and will recommend this hotel to everyone visiting the shore. Thank you SO much again read more
