Restaurant review only We had a very nice dinner for 6 at the Breakers. Hotel is beautifully lit up at night for Christmas and makes a nice impression walking in. The dining room is elegant provides beautiful views of the ocean. Our server was on point , no complaints. Appetizers Jumbo shrimp cocktail Pasta fagioli Corn chowder Calamari in a red sauce Entrees: Surf n turf Salmon Veal Picatta Shrimp scampi Desserts Profiteroles Chocolate cake The Breakers is more of the old world type restaurant dining, of which there aren't many left. So enjoy the view and food when in Spring Lake.

We Had the Petite room. Which was larger than the other expected. The location is great. Across the street from the beach. The hotel has a pool. See pic of me in it. So on a nice sunny day you have to make tough decisions ... pool or beach! Martini or cosmo? Do both!!! The hotel lends you a beach pass. No coolers at the beach though. The restaurant has amazing food for breakfast, lunch n dinner plus Porch side drinks n aps which are amazing. As you spend a lovely time sipping cosmo in the porch, You can eavesdrop on prospective brides researching wedding venues. Hotel reservations are hard to get. I was lucky my friend was persistent n got a room!

I took my boyfriend here for a birthday breakfast last week. Awful dining experience. How do you mess up breakfast? I'll tell you how. Bring the food out cold and bring the toast10 minutes after you get your meal. Small portions for the price and the potatoes were not only cold but flavorless. It was very obvious they were reheated. The only redeeming factor was the view. I'm a local and would never return.

Review based on a catered lunch for a group of 40 - could not ask for better! Amazing food, service, views, and price!! You will not be able to top this place for a catered meal. We shopped around for a place to hold on lunch for about 30 to 40 people. This place was not even on the radar expecting it to be outrageously priced right along the ocean in Spring Lake. However it was exactly the opposite of what we expected, the prices were incredibly fair and the food and service was absolutely amazing! Take a look at the pictures of the room, incredible! Plus a view of the ocean! The food was five stars and I'm talking about buffet style! Everyone went on and on about how incredible the day was! The chicken franchise, the poached salmon, the pasta, even the bread, it was all top-notch! I would recommend their pasta with vodka sauce however. As far as the buffet was concerned they kept bringing out more and more food never even hinting at stopping! Cooked to perfection!! Extremely highly recommended for catered lunches, this place will make you look great!

Room with pull out couch. This is the size.

This place is only for those who want to spend zero time in their room and want to be across from the beach. There is zero customer service. The hotel is dated and rooms are extremely small. See photo below of king ocean room with pullout bed. That is the size of the room and there is zero privacy with an extremely small bathroom with a dated pocket door that basically opens into the bed. Only go here if you have friends in the area and know local restaurants. The whole place needs to be gutted. There are maybe a few small fixes to make it more bearable. Such as, better furniture out on porch, maybe some music playing out there, water bottles for the rooms, some bikes to bike to beach pavilion or town. Get rid of the weird smoking section on the porch. Zero ambiance. Please note that you need to ask for beach badges as they will not offer this information (odd), parking overnight must be on beach side. Also, you need to walk to the beach in front of pavilion if you have kids as that is where the food is. We never went to pool but note that there were zero kids and lots of older people. It looked boring. We never ate at hotel as it did not look good. Plenty of great places around but research before going. I recommend only going if you do not have 4/5 star resort expectations.

It is basic and offered in the dining room before 10am. I had no issues with grub hub orders for dinner. Parking is available in their lot, no street parking is permitted overnight. The location is safe and easy to find. The room I stayed in- Moonbeam was on the 3rd floor. It had a mini fridge, dressers, fireplace, tv, couch, large bathroom and comfortable bed. The breakfast spread is modest but gets the job done. They have fruit, cereal, pastries, yogurt, and oatmeal. They also put out a mid afternoon snack which is nice. A/C window unit was a little noisy but did the job even in 90+ weather. Breakfasts were excellent with options for side dishes. Good location one block from the beach on a quiet street. The wrap-around porch has plenty of seating and is a lovely setting for breakfast. The dining room is rather charmless but large with plenty of seating. Coffee and iced tea available all day. The only bummer was the umbrella. Pro tip: Do not pay $15 to rent an umbrella for a day. The umbrella was poor quality with plastic ribs that collapsed in the wind. We couldn't use it - had to take it down. But the manager refused a refund. The response was, "It was a windy day." Yes, it was a windy day. There are a lot of windy days at the beach. And on this particular windy day everybody else's umbrellas were standing up just fine. None of them were collapsed to half the size like this one.

It seems that so far they are keeping the beautiful and quaint aspects of this location. Pros ⁃ Amazing location: right across the street from the water. You have an access badge to Spring Lake beach. A few blocks from the downtown area for good restaurants. On site restaurant is good but gets a bit loud (Amelia's by the Sea). ⁃ Room 15 was good: we had our own spacious bathroom and it was at the end of the hotel. Bright and clean. No view but relatively quiet and large closet. Comfortable bed with super soft bedding. ⁃ AC worked! ⁃ Bikes available (fun) and even golf cart for town trips. ⁃ Alison, the manager is a gem. She is from here and had good tips. We enjoyed visiting some lighthouses she recommended. ⁃ Bikes, beach towels, chairs, and umbrellas all free and plentiful. Cons or Meh ⁃ Street parking: seems some rooms have designated spots on site. For the rest of us, parking on street during day and across the street in the diagonals at night. We always found spots but wondering how it gets during the busier summer time. ⁃ No real lobby or chill area. Outside there are chairs and umbrellas. Adding tables would be nice. Next door at The Breakers hotel we notice huge wrap around porch that had rocking chairs and other seating looking at them sea for guests. They also have a pool! Tips for eating around the area... Downtown Spring Lake walking distance and great dining selections. Honey Berry was our "go to" breakfast place - everything was tasty but my favorite was Heavenly Bliss eggs. (Marigold was further away from downtown but good for breakfast and not as crowded.) SL Seafood was great, as was the SL pizza and Belle's ice cream (gelati was the best). Dunes Donut and Bagels delish. The Scone Pony amazing but get there early; if there is a long line, it's worth the wait. The chorizo and cheese ball breads at Nick's & Son bakery good to take to beach.

She explained where the keys would be, the parking situation and just was very friendly and accommodating. BF and I arrived at 645 pm on Friday evening, had no problems getting into our room. There are only a few parking spots for a few guest rooms, but we were able to park on premises. There is parking less than 1/8 mile away near the beach which we would have been more than fine with. There's no street parking in Spring Lake. We loved our room, it was clean (although a little chilly) and the bathroom was perfectly sized for two people. We went to Belmar for dinner (we walked as we had just sat in the car for a few hours) and then sat outside on the huge porch before heading up to bed. We got a later start in the morning Saturday (we wanted to go apple picking in Freehold, about 30 minutes away) but I stopped at the front desk to "check in" and the waitress from the restaurant wanted to know if we wanted to eat, even though she was almost done with her shift and breakfast ended at 10 (it was 950am). We thanked her profusely, but wanted to get on the road. She even offered to give us coffee and muffins to go, which was super sweet. We had a full day and came back for bed around 830pm and there was a night manager around, which we didn't see on Friday. We decided to sit on the porch again and drink the wine we didn't finish from dinner. BF ran upstairs to get a phone charger and the night manager came out to check on me, offering tea, blankets, and was just as friendly as could be. We had breakfast there on Sunday, I was really impressed with the selection of food. I've been to BnBs that only have one or two options or they put out whatever they want to serve and call it a day. You can choose from a bunch of different options. I had an omelette and BF had the pancakes. Both were delicious and the service was excellent. Was able to check out with no problems, very quick and easy. Overall, we had an excellent stay at the inn. It is old but it's quaint and charming. BF and I were the youngest people there, but we didn't mind. The other guests we interacted with briefly were friendly. I had read some negative reviews after I had booked our stay, so I was slightly apprehensive, but we had such a different experience there. I highly recommend this charming B and B. I would definitely come back.

The bed's mattress felt like you were sleep on a mattress of wooden plank that were laying on the road. The room was dirty, I found crumbs and hairs and even some stains on the mattress. It was the size of a teacup, if you were to close yourself into the shower you wouldn't be able to walk in it you would only be able to turn in circles. The toilet was clogged when we got there and the staff didn't fix it so I had to do it myself. Finally for the room the towels smelled like bacon, I am pretty sure that they are the same towels that they use to clean the dishes from the breakfast. Speaking of the breakfast it was god awful. I got the scrambled eggs and they overcooked half of my plate while the other half was undercooked. How do you manage to do that?! Let's just say I am never coming back after this experience. Do not come here if you care for your health and want to have a pleasant vacation.
