Me and my husband planned to have a stay at Spring Inn on Friday's night. We checked in around 4pm. The view from our room was amazing, ocean is visible and the sunset view. The lady at the reception is so gentle and polite that we advised us to the places we can visit during out visit. She also offered us the chocolates at the entrance. The room is spacious and very clean. It is very old and everything is made of wood. A queen bed with lots of pillows and a warm comforter. Bathroom was very clean and has all the essentials. The morning as beautiful, we got to have the breakfast served by them. A perfect breakfast with french toast with maple syrup and sausages, scrambled eggs with potatoes, a choice among them. Coffee, cereals, fruits, banana bread, bagels, cream cheese, yogurts and danishes were on the table. I loved the stay and pleasured the hospitality.

This. . . . This is heaven. I know it's an odd statement to say heaven when referring to Jersey Shore but I was convinced!! Spring Lake, although located a mere handful of miles away from THE Jersey Shore, is actually heaven. What can I say?! We stayed in the Turret room, second floor, corner room with a queen bed, couch, fireplace and bathroom with jacuzzi tub. The shower was over the tub itself and could've used a touch more of water pressure for my preference, also could've warmed up a little bit faster too but to be fair the house was established since 1888. And because it was established since 1888, I might opt to stay on the third floor in the future. I am a light sleeper and things that go creak in the mornings wake me up. The inn is located a block away from the beach. There's a boardwalk which was excellent for running. On our run, we saw tons of surfers but it doesn't seem like there are any lifeguards around so swim and surf at your own risk. A couple blocks away is the lake itself, supposedly loaded with trout for the fishing (except during the March-April timeframe). On the other side of the lake is downtown Spring Lake with cute little shops, restaurants and tons of real estate offices. We didn't eat in Spring Lake though, we opted to drive to Ashbury Park, Bradley Beach and even Princeton an hour away for food (reviews to follow). Now let's talk breakfast at the inn. Breakfast is served between 830 and 1000 but coffee, tea and cereal are available for those early risers. Barbara and Andy usually have a fruit and pastry spread by the entrance to the dining room, which is a help yourself kind of set up. After you snack, they will serve the special hot breakfast of the day. First morning it was baked cheese omelet, second morning it was citrus infused french toast and sausages - both very delicious. And the last best part?? Jersey tomatoes!!! I never knew that such a tomato variety existed but they taste exactly like good ol' Campbell's tomato soup - sweet and yet tangy. This is what I imagine what tomatoes are suppose to taste like, like if my grandfather grew up in America he would have these planted in his backyard. I would take these tomatoes over heirloom tomatoes anytime!!

This place has a lot going for it if you can do stairs. Third floor room was clean and comfortable…read moreeven if decor was showing its age. Good shower, plenty of hot water. A/C window unit was a little noisy but did the job even in 90+ weather. Breakfasts were excellent with options for side dishes. Good location one block from the beach on a quiet street. The wrap-around porch has plenty of seating and is a lovely setting for breakfast. The dining room is rather charmless but large with plenty of seating. Coffee and iced tea available all day. The only bummer was the umbrella. Pro tip: Do not pay $15 to rent an umbrella for a day. The umbrella was poor quality with plastic ribs that collapsed in the wind. We couldn't use it - had to take it down. But the manager refused a refund. The response was, "It was a windy day." Yes, it was a windy day. There are a lot of windy days at the beach. And on this particular windy day everybody else's umbrellas were standing up just fine. None of them were collapsed to half the size like this one.

I feel like they really care about their guests' experience. The rooms are comfortable and clean. The AC could be better, though. I love the breakfast. I don't know why others are hating on it. They usually have a few options to chose from. The overnight oats are always good. I love that they have hot and iced coffee and usually some type of iced tea. We love hanging out on the comfortable wrap around porch in the evenings. It's a nice environment. And it's very close to the beach!

Just had a wonderful weekend getaway at the Normandy Inn. I called the inn to arrange a late check…read morein, and the woman who answered my call couldn't have been nicer. She explained where the keys would be, the parking situation and just was very friendly and accommodating. BF and I arrived at 645 pm on Friday evening, had no problems getting into our room. There are only a few parking spots for a few guest rooms, but we were able to park on premises. There is parking less than 1/8 mile away near the beach which we would have been more than fine with. There's no street parking in Spring Lake. We loved our room, it was clean (although a little chilly) and the bathroom was perfectly sized for two people. We went to Belmar for dinner (we walked as we had just sat in the car for a few hours) and then sat outside on the huge porch before heading up to bed. We got a later start in the morning Saturday (we wanted to go apple picking in Freehold, about 30 minutes away) but I stopped at the front desk to "check in" and the waitress from the restaurant wanted to know if we wanted to eat, even though she was almost done with her shift and breakfast ended at 10 (it was 950am). We thanked her profusely, but wanted to get on the road. She even offered to give us coffee and muffins to go, which was super sweet. We had a full day and came back for bed around 830pm and there was a night manager around, which we didn't see on Friday. We decided to sit on the porch again and drink the wine we didn't finish from dinner. BF ran upstairs to get a phone charger and the night manager came out to check on me, offering tea, blankets, and was just as friendly as could be. We had breakfast there on Sunday, I was really impressed with the selection of food. I've been to BnBs that only have one or two options or they put out whatever they want to serve and call it a day. You can choose from a bunch of different options. I had an omelette and BF had the pancakes. Both were delicious and the service was excellent. Was able to check out with no problems, very quick and easy. Overall, we had an excellent stay at the inn. It is old but it's quaint and charming. BF and I were the youngest people there, but we didn't mind. The other guests we interacted with briefly were friendly. I had read some negative reviews after I had booked our stay, so I was slightly apprehensive, but we had such a different experience there. I highly recommend this charming B and B. I would definitely come back.

When here because breakers room's ran out and it was possible the worst hotel experience I have…read moreever had. The room we got was the suite which was anything but. The bed's mattress felt like you were sleep on a mattress of wooden plank that were laying on the road. The room was dirty, I found crumbs and hairs and even some stains on the mattress. I wonder if the cleaning help has ever heard of a vacuum or a laundry machine. Then there was the bathroom. It was the size of a teacup, if you were to close yourself into the shower you wouldn't be able to walk in it you would only be able to turn in circles. The toilet was clogged when we got there and the staff didn't fix it so I had to do it myself. Finally for the room the towels smelled like bacon, I am pretty sure that they are the same towels that they use to clean the dishes from the breakfast. Speaking of the breakfast it was god awful. I got the scrambled eggs and they overcooked half of my plate while the other half was undercooked. How do you manage to do that?! Let's just say I am never coming back after this experience. Do not come here if you care for your health and want to have a pleasant vacation.
