I'll be honest we were really skeptical about booking here due to the reviews of how outdated it was. BUT we wanted to give it a try. I called to book instead of using booking and we got a better price & a better room than booking.com had. Truly best vacation we have had. Pros : -affordable -family friendly atmosphere - Beautiful view ( bayberry building ocean view with balcony raised first floor) -very clean -ALL the staff was SUPER friendly and helpful -Private beach access (trust me it's so worth it) -Clean pool -LOCATION- best location hands down right at the beginning of the boardwalk and on the beach. You can see the fireworks that they have every Thursday right at that end of the boardwalk. -The room got cold fast and stayed cool all day -OFFICE DOG literally coolest fog ever -next to a cute breakfast/lunch place -next to an ice cream place that has the best water ice and ice cream we've had ever. Cons -little outdated for sure -beds are not super comfortable but tolerable to be honest. -you can hear everything through the ceiling (but that's just apart of it not their fault) -balcony is right next to the walking path where people wash off from the private beach Overall it was so worth the price for just the location and view. We went on days we knew wouldn't be as busy. I loved it and would go back again but they are selling according to their FB. So hopefully whoever buys it keeps the family friendly atmosphere! read more

As soon as I opened the bathroom door, there was hair and sand all over the floor, clearly it was never swept or vacuumed. I then noticed the urine stain under the seat that was flipped up. Light switches were never disinfected either, I had to pre clean visible surfaces myself. Beds are very uncomfortable. I would suggest stripping the bed before using it. I woke up the next morning to a womans stocking stuck to my blanket. Also, they do not use any fitted sheets, so good luck trying to keep the bedding attached to your mattress as you try to sleep. On our second night, no one mentioned that they were replacing the pool liner, so that was out of service. Pool is Not heated. They offer coffee but not until 7:30. Its not located in the office. You have to ask the housekeepers to make it. I can't say that I enjoyed anything about my stay, other than the easy beach access. Which is also confusing. The windswept beach entrance is not out front like you would think. You do have to walk about a block or two to the right along the beach to your designated area. Save yourself from the regrets. read more

We had a nice two night stay at the Windswept. I wish I could give half stars because this merits a 3.5 but I can't bring myself to round up. Good location and access to a semi-private beach was great. Walking distance from Jenkinson's without the noise that comes with it. Staff during checkout and check in were friendly. Room was fine. Not the most modern, but it was clean and the beds weren't bad. Also, they have the cutest dog named Dune who hangs out on the office. Sweet boy. We would stay again. read more

Facade on all side shows its age and while other buildings on this strip are modern and up kept immaculately this is a throw back to what looks like a Motor Inn Maybe they're waiting to sell out to a big corporation or the operating costs are such that renovations are out of reach It's very economical so I guess I should not complain But we will not be back here again, there's just too many shortcomings Please keep in mind that for the price they charge per night (reasonable, for its location) you can possibly overlook them But I'm at the point that when you don't want your bare feet to hit the floor it's time to part ways read more

This is my second time staying here. First I want to say the front desk staff is super nice and helpful. The room was old but appeared very clean. Only issue there were a lot of ants crawling around. This isn't the type of place you can book online. You have to call or show up in person. The place looks pretty run down. I stayed one night and it came out to $357 which I felt is pretty high. There is a nice pool and it is close to the beach. My room had no view. I booked the place next door for $200 per night for next week. I will see which I like better for future trips to point pleasant. Update: Stay at the place next door. White Sands. When making the reservations, I specifically stated that I'd need the internet for work. We arrived late on Friday in the pouring rain after 6.5 hour trip. And guess what wasn't working! We stayed in room 123, which had 2 beds and faced the street. The room was really nice and clean. Bright and updated. I wasn't crazy about the door locks. When leaving the room, only the handle locks. I don't consider that very safe. The location is great since its right on the beach. The staff was really friendly. We like to smoke pot when on vacay and we were able to smoke in the front next to the building, away from any doorways. No one ever bothered us. The only thing I was really missing was a microwave. We had a lot of leftovers and were unable to heat them up. Unfortunately, for that reason alone we would look elsewhere next time. We had to keep buying food since we had no way to heat the food we already had. read more

This perfect jersey shore motel had everything i needed. I stayed for a month while i had a job painting a mural nearby. my friends and family joined me for part of it, staying in nearby rooms, and we all loved this motel and want to come back. clean, helpful staff, felt safe for me (a solo female), perfect pool, private beach, spacious rooms, best location ever at the end of the boardwalk making it just far enough away from the center of action, but only a short walk to everything you need. The Food Shack has amazing food just next door, and a short walk away you can get to everything you could want on the delightful, quaint, and family friendly boardwalk. A bit of a longer walk, and it's just the right amount of time to get hungry for a delicious seafood dinner, and a sunset stroll home. the ocean front rooms offer a gorgeous view of the sea and dunes, and have private balconies with cement dividers between the rooms so you feel like you really have your own private space. I highly recommend this motel for an ideal jersey shore vacation! read more

One star only because it was clean. People were partying and loud - up all hours of the night screaming and fighting directly next to us. There's no smoking on the balconies yet our rooms REEKED of smoke because those people smoked on the balconies and it came right through the windows that were closed but the cheap slatted glass let it all in. We got two rooms on NY Ave upper floor towards the office. We called the office around 11 the first night and security picked up and told them to stop. They continued until about 3am. The next day we spoke with the front desk and they assured us that they were going to talk to them and it wouldn't happen again. Around 11 o'clock the next night they started battling and screaming and smoking and talking about how they were high and falling all over the place and banging into the walls and on the balcony we tried calling the front desk for two hours but no one ever picked up. They finally must've passed out around 3 AM and the next morning we asked the front desk why there was no one picking up in the middle of the night and they said that there is no security on Tuesday nights. Mind you we paid an obscene amount for this hotel because the reviews said that it was family oriented and quiet and they did not tolerate partiers and yeah they did nothing about these rude inconsiderate guests. I would not recommend at all to anyone. Probably better staying off across the street at White Sands no partying whatsoever was going on over there I know they are shortstaffed but I would rather wait then not be able to sleep at night. read more

I visited this motel recently for an early October weekend with my sister and her four year old son. It's in a great location. If you are concerned about safety for children, yourself, or your valuables, this place isn't for you. Nothing happened during our stay but I had real concerns. The Good: Location. Period. This motel has a hands down excellent location - it really is just steps to the beach and Jenkinson's Boardwalk. The heated pool (still open in October - a real plus) was also lovely and clean. The rooms were clean too, clearly the very friendly housekeeping staff works hard. The Bad: I know not to expect anything lush from these places, but I've slept on floors more comfortable than these beds. They also appear to have had a powderpost/wood beetle infestation as the furniture in both rooms had the little holes pictured. Kinda gross. The Ugly: To my point of safety. This hotel has what I presume is the requisite minimum for a door lock, which means there is a basic turning deadbolt above the doorknob. It's very low though, which means a child could easily unlock it and get out of the room (to the busy street or ocean, steps away). He easily opened the lock within minutes. We expressed our concern about this and asked the management if they had any rooms had better locks (chains, bolts up high - like normal hotel/motel rooms) and they just said no and didn't care. We ultimately settled on moving a heavy piece of furniture in front of the door at night. Ridiculous. The doors also have these frosted glass shutters which means no peephole - there's no way to safely see who is at the door without them having access to you. According to NJ law you must have a peephole or chain/bolt equivalent. The aforementioned deadbolt also cannot be locked from the outside, which means the only lock on your door is a basic locking door handle that I'm sure could be easily picked by a seasoned thief. I put all of this in "the ugly" category and knocked the rating down another star because of the management's complete disregard for our concern about a child's safety when we asked. Stayed here this week for one night and was very impressed. Arrived a before the 1 pm check-in time and was allowed to check right in. Our room was small with a queen size bed and was very clean! The bathroom was also small with a stall shower but clean as well. The beach was a short walk away since they share it with the hotel next door. The boardwalk is about 5 blocks away which isn't that bad of a walk. My only complaint is the Free WiFi hardly worked. Staff was very friendly, free coffee in the morning. The day you check out you are still allowed to use the pool and beach all day. Will be back!! read more

We rented 2 rooms for almost $900 total for 2 days. What we were promised was free high speed internet amongst other things. The internet stopped working and the front desk ladies were too lazy to reset the router and kept telling me that it was working. I requested to speak to the owner and they refused at first and then had him call me. He was completely useless and said this happens. He never issued me a credit nor did he show any signs of compassion for his unsatisfied customer. I would never go back, nor have a family member or friend go to this place. read more

This was my 3rd stay here, different years, always Aprils before the "season" officially began. The rooms are much less expensive then, like half. So, it's always been clean, quieter than the White Sands(stayed there many times and it wasn't worth the price unless you need a heated pool & little gym) and staff here always pleasant. I don't mind the location of the boardwalk not extending in front of the motel, as that would change the view and add noise and traffic. It's a quick half block walk to the boardwalk. The rooms facing the ocean have a nice view - so relaxing to sit on the balcony or even just listen to the sound of the ocean waves. Rooms have a tub, not a guaranteed thing anymore, as well as cable and mini- fridge. I had no trouble with the Wi-Fi. The early check in, at 1 PM, is unique and wonderful for getting a whole first day in at the beach. I have not tried to access the beach from the hotel, but will check that out and leave a 'tip." No pool I've ever seen. Overall, a great value for the accommodations during the off season. read more

The Windswept Motel charged me $20 extra a night then advertised on their website bc I used Booking.com. Ok, fine, whatever, then I get here and THE BEACH IS CLOSED! I'm waited a month to come to the beach. I work in the school system and today was my last day and I drove straight from work to have some peace and quiet. I get here around 7:00 I go to the beach and a cop tells me it's closed. This is not on their website. It closes every night at 7:00. This is such bad business I can't even wrap my mind around it. DO NOT STAY HERE. IF YOU HAVE A RESERVATION CANCEL IT. How can they advertise themselves as beachfront when the beach is CLOSED. I was told I could ask the cop for permission they might let me go for a walk. But I'm not allowed to sit and hang out. What!? read more

We spent a few nights here over 4th of July holiday. Staff was friendly and the accommodations were clean. It is located at the South end of the boardwalk, away from the commotion...surprisingly quiet. We stayed in a Queen room, 1 bed with a night table, small bistro type table and entertainment center. The bathroom was clean and had a stand up shower. It would have been nice to have a shower caddy in the shower and maybe another shelf in bathroom. You could see the ocean from our doorway. Steps from the beach, steps from the boardwalk and if you spent time in the pool area you overlooked the beach as well. We enjoyed our stay. read more

We stayed here August 7 to August 10. Check in is 1 pm but we arrived at noon and our room was ready. The ladies at the front desk were nice and professional. We were on the ground floor, facing the parking lot, midway between the pool and front office. The room was cute, soft blue walks, beach theme, one queen bed, table and two chairs, armoire with tv. This one didn't have a fridge or coffe pot so we brought a cooler, coffe pot and small indoor grill. They offer coffee by the housekeeping rooms from 7 to 11 or noon. The pool was clean with a few chairs and tables. The walk to the beach is just a few minutes and not bad at all. You walk on a pathway behind two other motels. The beach is shared with the other motels and a beach club. It's very clean. We paid around $700 for our stay. A bit pricey because the motel could use updates. New flat screens for when you're stuck inside because of rain. Update the Wi-Fi for the same reason. All in all we liked the room, the owners/workers, and the location. read more

Yes it was clean. Yes it was a decent room. Yes it is steps from the boardwalk. Yes it was beachfront .. BUT ... you had to know a but was coming, There is no beach or boardwalk access from the motel. The owner must have pissed off someone big in town because the boardwalk access is barricaded (with literal piles of rubble and rock and broken fencing) causing you walk out to the street and around the public parking to get onto boardwalk. The lovely beach you are gazing upon from your room is steps away but fenced up causing you to walk past both a public beach and a private beach belonging to the next door hotel (which looks like a beautiful place) before you can get onto the beach belonging to your premium priced beachfront hotel.I paid for beachfront, didnt know I had to check the fine print for beachfront access too .. Place has gone very downhill. My family stayed here when I was a kid and I don't remember any negative experiences. However, I wanted to bring my daughter so she could experience the same joy we had in PPB growing up and it was a poor choice. Overpriced and we woke up to find ants crawling in bed with us. After a further look, they were crawling in and out of all of our bags. When brought to the front desk's attention, the kid at the desk told me to go tell housekeeping to take care of the ants & when I asked to speak to a Manager he says he wasn't able to call them and had no idea when they would be back. It's 2021, everyone is always readily accessible. When someone above him finally came in, they tried to refund me only for the remainder of my stay and not the night when we slept with ants. I had to fight to get my full refund. They said they would put "do not rent" next to my name as if it's my fault they have an ant problem and an unqualified staff. read more

If you are looking for a simple room on the beach, this is a nice place to go to. I would suggest getting a room on the 2nd floor since it is right on the beach. When I opened my blinds I could see people laying out in front of our room. Very accessible to the boardwalk. Don't pay attention to people saying you have to walk around to get on the beach. It's true, but it's literally like 20 feet. Unless you're handicapped, it's not a deterrent. read more

The beach is just steps away but we couldn't go in the ocean because of the rip tide. That was okay because we made good use of their pool which was clean and heated. I have a stay of two more nights here ahead of me as I write this. The bathrooms and the sheets are clean. The staff is very friendly. It is a good motel as far as motels go. Except for the dank musty mildewed smell from which I have not yet been able to distract myself or escape. This place could really use (i.e. NEEDS) some dehumidifiers. read more

My friends and I recently spent the weekend here. We had never heard of it, nor was it recommended. We were all very happy with our room, the location and the proximity to the beach, boardwalk and restaurants. The review I read from last year about having no refrigerator or wi-fi and a less than adequate bathroom, were either improved since then or just someone's else's unfortunate experience. We had a small fridge, which was totally adequate, a decent bathroom and we received wi-fi all weekend. Hair dryers could be borrowed at the front desk. We had no complaints and I'd go back again.
