My husband and I have been down there a few times, we love it! Parking in the parking garage is easiest, and it's a short walk to the happening area. The updates to the Waterside District are lovely, however, the fact that the bars and restaurants close at 11 pm will discourage me from going often. With the early closings, large crowds will be left with nothing else to do since the waterside strip isn't walking proximity to other entertainments. This means that going to the waterside will have to be destination point which may reduce the likelihood of people (the evening crowd) to return often. read more

From start to finish my event experience with Waterside was a breeze. The Private Events Manager took care of everything and all of my guests had nothing but compliments to share after the event. Everything from the food to the service was high quality. If you're looking for an all-inclusive venue for your next event, I seriously cannot recommend this location enough. This was a great experience for my husband and I today/tonight! There are a lot of good things going for newly renovated Waterside. The food is amazing, the cocktails are yummy, and there's lots of great musicians playing inside and outside. There's room for improvement, though: Guy Fieri's shareable appetizers are pretty small, considering the price. We sat at the bar because there was a 2 hour wait for a table. The wine bar ran out of Moscato, which is strange. It's a WINE bar, it's Saturday afternoon, it's a holiday weekend, and, well, it's a WINE bar. Everything is overpriced, but hey, I guess you're paying for the experience. Since it just opened, I'm sure they're still working out the kinks. We will definitely be back. read more

The venue is beautiful! I was really impressed with what they've done to the place. Lots of dining and entertainment. We came on a Saturday night and it was packed in there. We originally wanted to eat at the Blue Moon Pub but the wait was 2 hours so we tried Guy's Smokehouse. Same thing, 2 hour wait. So we ended up finding tables over by Cogans pizza in the Market area so we ordered from there and had some drinks. The food wasn't bad. The service wasn't great but I didn't expect anything special seeing as how busy it was in there. After we ate we went around the back and man is their out door area awesome. There's tons of seating, great views of the water, a stage for concerts, games, and plenty of bar areas. We will definitely be back once it calms down a little bit but I think this place has tons of potential and is a nice addition to the Norfolk area. read more

Honestly this place is the most chaotic and disorganized part of downtown. An actual clusterfuck. The lighting is terrible in most of the restaurants and the employees seriously could care less about your needs. I ordered oysters at the rocky mountain restaurant there and waited 30 mins for them as everyone else that ordered after me received their food before me. I spoke with the manager and she rolled her eyes at me and walked away. Also I refused to pay $20 for a shot of tequila before the bartender poured the shot and she quickly told me "there's nothing I can do about it once its been rung up" SHE DIDNT EVEN POUR THE SHOT YET! the manager once again got the biggest attitude and walked away from me as I was asking for clarification about the policies there. Complete inside voice. At that point other people started complaining and it was basically "none of her concern". This is my 2nd visit since they've reopened as Waterside Live. Compared with what Waterside used to be, I still do not care for it. Please note this review is only for the Waterside Live establishment - not the surrounding areas including Town Point Park. Negatives: 1) It's too #%*$ expensive! A 12oz (looked more like 10 oz) draft of beer from the downstairs main bar was $6 served in a plastic cup. Food choices are limited if you want to sit in the main area (not in one of the restaurants) and you're likely to spend at least $15 for a meal... unless you go to Chipotle or you take advantage of game day wing or pizza specials. I am, by no means, a cheapskate. We go out often. I guess a better clarification is that the prices do not equate to the expected quality or quantity. Example: $15 nachos from Guy Fieri's restaurant are a nice stack of chips but not much meat or other toppings in between. 2) If you want to enjoy the outside water views with full service dining, your only options are Stripers and Blue Moon Cafe... unless you're lucky enough to be an elite member of The Harbor Club upstairs. 3) Liquor and beer options are limited due to their agreement with their beverage/alcohol distributor. It doesn't matter which bar or restaurant you go to - the options are the same. There is NO FIREBALL available here! After inquiring at 3 different places (the main bar, Guy Fieri's and Blue Moon) I finally asked "Is there ANYWHERE in here I can get a Fireball?!?" The bartender kind of hung her head and said "I'm sorry... no." So FYI - your closest Fireball option is Jack Daniels Fire Whiskey. Blehhhh! I can't remember what beer it was I kept trying to order but they didn't have that either (maybe simply Bud Light?). I realize they may be getting bulk discounts by agreeing to limited product but WTH?!? I'm sure I'm not the only one who can easily run up a liquor tab if they have what I want. They're missing out. 4) The service throughout is more misses than hits. I spent many a year in food service and I don't know if it's management but these ppl seem mostly aloof and/or simply don't care including the freaking Chipotle. *Exception: Guy who served us today at Carolina Cupcakery was awesome - friendly, patient, helpful. 5) For a place that is so expensive with new renovations, the bathrooms seemed seriously neglected. It doesn't even look like they've wiped the stalls or main doors down in ages as they were covered in fingerprints and god knows what. Positives: 2 stars for location, vibe and enough screens for any big sporting event you may care to see. Visited the Blue Moon Tap House for lunch mid-week in April. Got there at noon as they opened. Right off the bat they were out of two menu items we expressed interest in trying. But the restaurant was just the start of our bad experience. We paid our bill only to discover, two days later, they had charged our card more than twice what we were charged on our bill. A call to their business office on that day, and providing them all they requested to make a refund to us, got us nothing despite their assurance that we would see the money back in A WEEK. Well, a week came and went and nothing was put back in our account. Back on the phone with them. Promises made. No results again.As of this writing we are still owed money by Waterside. This story isn't over for us. Be careful folks. I planned several more trips there this summer with guests. Those visits will not be happening. read more

This is the fourth time we have visited and it's just as awful as the first. In the evenings the bartenders at ALL LOCATIONS are slow and non responsive. The place is understaffed and filled with incompetent servers. We tried to come in for a late lunch, optimistic that daytime service would be better. Despite a minimum of 30 empty tables we were give told it would be an hour wait for a table due to understaffing. I am incredibly disappointed that so much money was spent on the venue to be virtually unusable. I guess we will continue to take our business to VA Beach. read more

Far from the days of strictly horrible dive bars and overly crowded night clubs! The most-needed change to popular restaurants and local tastes has been a true pleasure during my 1 mon stay in my hometown the "757". With fashionable new shops and "wine and dine" check-ins how could you go wrong here. The inside of the waterside district boast a stage for live concerts and the music system, even when live entertainers are not present, is spectacularly sound-FULL!!! Every mid-range, bass line, and treble waves are evenly toned and dramatically crisp, without any distortion or drag. Interior provides and upstairs and a ground level with multiple shops and places to enjoy you time spent there and with a crossover walkway over looking the Norfolk scenery and the waterfront view on a bright sunny day, your day or night will not be a drag. Come by and check it out, even if your a newbie I guarantee you'll be delighted and if you're a regular? Then why wld you NOT come back. Lemme stop guarding the shine from this place and simply urge you to check it out yourself! You be the judge, but my opinion is as stated! read more

When I saw the place being reconstructed my friends and I talked about how it would be updated. I will admit it is a huge improvement from what was previously there and I'm sure it's attracting a lot more traffic now. I've been a few times since it has opened and enjoyed myself. I will admit it is a bit overwhelming since the middle space is wide open and everyone seems to congregate there. I like that you can order a drink one place and wander around the perimeter with it. The few times I have been there was some form of live music which was enjoyable. Security isn't tight but after a certain time you will get carded at the door. I haven't tried any of the food yet, I think it's more of a place to drink and hang around. Considering what they're trying to make the area in the drinks aren't that expensive. Even the tall blue moon is decent price. There are a bunch of bars in the different locations, each with a different look. A few restaurants are placed around too. It may be best to sit outside on the top balcony since everything inside is crowded and congested. I wouldn't mind trying the food one day but I would rather go when it's less crowded. I will admit, the top downside is that they don't stay open late. Even if the middle section was cut off the restaurants and tap rooms could stay open longer. read more

I am only writing this review cause of the condition of their bathroom. I was there on a Thursday night and the upstairs bathroom had toilet paper all over the floor. Most of the toilet stalls were not even flushed, so the women in there kept skipping to the next stall. And there was no soap in any of the dispensers that were in there. There were about 3-4 soap dispensers, all empty, and there were 2 pump bottles, also empty. I was with my mother and I told her lets try eating somewhere else. Sorry Waterside. =( read more

A truly beautiful reimagining of the old Waterside. From stem to stern, top to bottom and 360, this place has been thoroughly revamped, renovated and repositioned. Spectacular use of the waterfront, something that the Waterside of yore never did very well. There is a new fountain park for children, outdoor games, tons of patio dining both out front and in back, Food Network star Guy Fieri's BBQ restaurant, a new seafood restaurant being built, about 17 or 18 other places to get food and drink and watch the people. Or you can sit inside the bar-restaurants and look at the water. And don't miss the upstairs! There is a massive waterfront place called the Harbor Club open on select evenings for everyone. And there's a stage inside and outside! Live music! Huge TVs! A truly beautiful job. This will be the go-to place for people throughout the region and beyond to bring their out-of-town guests. I went for a mini vacation to go see my boyfriend who is stationed in Norfolk. He took me on a date to the Waterside District and we went to the Blue Moon tap house. The food was delicious and they had a great beer selection. We decided to walk around and there was some really good live music. We went back inside and decided to sit in one of the bars and have a couple of beers. There was so many options when it came to dining and either having a relaxing night out or go dance the night away at the PBR bar which we went and it was so much fun! The Waterside District is very clean and the employees were super friendly. I will definitely come again the next time I come visit my boyfriend. read more
