    Shakshuka ribeye
    Yushi N.

Came here for an anniversary dinner :) The alcohol and sheer price (cry) lent a slightly fancy ambiance while the distillery machinery offered "I'm just a chill guy *shrug.*" Food was surprisingly YOM. Favorite dish was the crispy fingerling potatoes!!! Smashed potatoes are so delicious with their cwispy outsides and sowft insides!!! Sauce, parm, and lemon zest made a fabulous combo, much like the holy trinity, I presume. Also very much enjoyed the halibut. I always get so nervous about fish at white restaurants (dry) (flaky) (flavorless) (overcooked) but Watershed's halibut was so juicy? Soft? Flavorful? Very liked the vegetable accompaniment - reminded me of 蝦仁豆腐. On the down sides, the shakshuka ribeye was fine but the presentation was not giving; it just kind of looks like someone ate half the dish first :/ Moreover, I genuinely think each dish could have cost at least $10 less. I just feel like I could enjoy similar meals elsewhere at a more reasonable price and I really only shelled out at Watershed on a special occasion because I expected...more... Service was friendly and had awesome pink hair.

Watershed's happy hour is a great way to try a selection of their cocktails for cheap, but this visit was during the dinner hours. It was still a good time. The weather was warm, so the windows were open. Super cool vibe and my server was astute in his knowledge of the visually engaging and ample cocktail menu. There's something for every type of spirit preference and flavor profile. I went with the tried and true old fashioned. Burger and fries were good... I'd say better than the Braised Short Rib. Brussels Sprouts, Homemade Bread & Spreads, and Crispy Polenta are a must in my opinion. Finished up with a German Chocolate Cake because it's one of my favorites in life. It looked and sounded good, but the taste wasn't worth the cost. Overall, Watershed remains my favorite Columbus distillery.

Another amazing visit, this time during happy hour. We sat at the bar and had wonderful service. There are several cocktails on the HH menu as well as couple food items. The bees knees was delicious as well as all the food options we ordered. We always have to try the bread because the seasonal jam is always so incredible. This visit it was passion fruit and oh my, that may be my new favorite. Drinks and food here are some of the best in the city!

    Excellent Vegetable Fritter! (12/10/2024)

I have heard great things about Watershed's restaurant, so I purchased a Columbus Independents' $50 half-price gift certificate. I took my mother for a Tuesday night dinner and was very happy I finally got a chance to see what this establishment is all about. It was not crowded at all when we arrived, but by the time we left around 6:45, it had definitely filled in nicely. Our waiter gentleman was great. Very relaxed friendly personality, explained some things on their usually-seasonally-changing menu, checked on us throughout the evening, even pointed out we would save a few dollars buying a la cart, not going with their Chef's Tasting Menu. My mother tried their "Now That's What I Call Tea" drink - basically, their take on the Moscow Mule, but served in a tea cup (the going rage). It was great, went down mouth but still had a prominent lemon fizz to it. Highly recommend. We started off with the Fried Brussels Sprouts, Vegetable Fritters, 1145 Salad and shared their K+B Burger. The three apps alone I could indulge in daily, no questions! The black pepper honey (base) and lemon (acidic) counter-balanced perfectly. Also loved the small size of the sprouts, excellent roasted flavor. The vegetable fritter is huge and very good. A flavorful light tempura coating, this dish came out hot and delish! I loved the fried broccolini and onions. The three dipping sauces were also excellent - kudos to the onion chutney. Without even asking, our waiter had our 1145 Salad split and served on two separate plates, a small touch that's always so thoughtful, imo. And the salad was wonderful, too. I like that they don't use the prickly kale kind, and the toppings mixed really well. The tasty dressing was lite and tossed throughout (not overpowering). Once again, without us even mentioning it, our burger was split and separately plated when brought out with a healthy amount of fresh hot fries on each plate. The burger was excellent! The gooey cheese was wonderful, and the lamb/beef patty was so good. I literally had 3-4 fries I was so full, but they were excellent in my breakfast hash a few days later. We had a great evening - I'm kinda bummed it took me so long to finally try WKB, and I definitely won't let that happen again. Kudos to the staff and kitchen!

Made reservations at Watershed for their Valentine's Day Dinner set menu, and it was definitely worth it. Our server asked right off the bat if there are any dietary restrictions, and when this was shared, she immediately discussed this with the chef who was able to change the dish to meet my dietary restriction (replaced beef tartare with a beet tartare and maintained the overall look and taste of the dish!). We had the paired cocktails with the set menu which were all unique and complimented the food well. Although the location is in a random alley, the place is much bigger than expected and has such a nice ambiance to it with comfortable seating.

This was a hidden gem! The atmosphere was cozy and nostalgic. We sat at the bar and the service was great from the bartenders. We decided to do the chef menu and chose a starter, entree and dessert. The wings were sooo good! I got the mushroom pasta which was so rich and creamy. My husband got the duck which was tender and flavorful. Finished it off with the apple crisp!

Such a fun date night spot! The bar has the best vibes. I love their vinyl record themed menus. Every cocktail is mindfully crafted and unique. Too difficult to name a favorite, you cannot go wrong! Bartenders are super friendly and helpful.

Watershed continues to impress. Last night we came here for dinner late, and both the cocktails and the food were outstanding. My spritz was delicious although it was on the sweeter side so may not be for everyone. The dusted cauliflower is huge for an appetizer, and was excellent. The duck and dumplings was pretty good as well. The short ribs was truly outstanding. Service was excellent as always.

Dark ceiling, dark walls, candle lit tables.... Soft funky music. Great place for a date night. We came here on the distillery trail and sat at the bar. Fletcher and Jonathan took great care of everyone at the bar. We ordered a Guayaba Cobbler, Ikigai, and the barrel aged old fashioned. The Ikigai is brown butter washed WS bourbon, Japanese whiskey, sherry, salted syrup, plum wine and coffee. It was complex. Not for everyone. The cobbler was very sweet. Presentation is excellent but I didnt like the rum element to the drink. It had a dry bitterness to it. The old fashioned was the winner. The couple next to us had wings, fingerling potatoes and fresh bread/dips and OMG their dishes looked amazing.

I went to Watershed Kitchen and Bar this week with a few of my friends and had a FANTASTIC time. The restaurant itself was kinda hard to find because it is hidden in the back of some buildings and I felt like I was in the wrong place when I arrived. I have seen this distillery brand all around Columbus, but have yet to be able to go to this restaurant because I did not realize it existed. Definitely must check out if you love their brand. My friends, and I seated in the way back where I couldn't find them, but once told the lady in the shop, she was able to help me find my friends. Our waiter knew exactly what we wanted to order by offering suggestions that fit a larger group. I highly recommend the Crispy Tempura Cauliflower. The Watershed Distillery Bourbon ginger glaze, cilantro, sesame made the cauliflower something to crave. We also got the following appetizers as well but none were as amazing as the cauliflower. We enjoyed the fried Brussel sprouts, homemade bread and spread and the crispy fingerling potatoes. If you're going to get an appetizers my top two were cauliflower and the potatoes. My drink however was not my favorite. I got the Piri Piri Spritz in the Africa section. This cocktail came with Rosé wine, Cocchi Americano Bianco, Sour Piri Piri Plum Shrub, Lemon sorbet, and Prosecco. The drink was mixed perfectly, but it was way too sweet and reminded me of manischewitz. Please let me know if you get that reference. Overall, I would love to go back with a group and try more drinks! The food was great but a little pricey, but that's what you get for going to a cute Little distillery restaurant.

The staff was quick and friendly, and the food was absolutely delicious. I especially loved the freshly made bread with spreads, which were both flavorful. Added bonus, the bread is made with spent grain from the distillery. The Panzanella salad I had was fantastic too. It was a delightful lunch in a beautifully decorated space.

Their visual chart is a…read moregodsend for cocktail explorers, and all of the drinks came out delicious and exactly as described. It's so creative, and the drinks are really the stellar stand out here. However, the atmosphere of those drinks is what gives me pause when thinking about coming back. The limited table situation, tiny cramped space, and loud music means that it doesn't feel particularly relaxing. People are constantly brushing up against you (even at 5PM), and holding a conversation at a normal distance is nearly impossible. NOTE: This place is covered in dust. No shade to the ownership as it doesn't appear to be anywhere near food prep areas (it's on the decor, on/around shelving, all over the faux plants, etc.), but if you're someone who's sensitive to dust, this is probably not a good fit. PROS: -I loooooooove how they've done their drink menu. As someone who is still exploring the potential of cocktails, their nerdy "chart" that places all of their drinks on a sweet/bitter and alcohol-forward/approachable visual chart is SUCH a help. As such, everything I ordered was absolutely amazing for me. I knew exactly what to expect from a drink because of its position on the chart, and it delivered. -Their drinks are really unique. Aqua faba? Fat washed alcohols? Lollipops or toasted marshmallows as garnishes? Super cool. Don't let some of the weirder descriptions creep you out of trying them. -All of their drinks were delicious. Everything I ordered was exactly as described. I often go places where the taste is barely related to its namesake, but they were entirely on-point here. CONS: -I'm not sure if someone called off that night as other reviewers are in love with the service, but our service was really really slow. No real rapport with the staff; just stating the name of a drink as they rushed past and then they were off to try to clean a table or take someone else's order. The drinks they made were great, but this isn't somewhere we'd go if we were in a hurry. -The pictures do not accurately convey how small this place is. Like, it's small. I'd guess less than 1000 square feet. My apartment is bigger by a lot. This isn't necessarily an issue, but it means people pile up quickly as they wait for seating (there's like 4/5 tables and then bar seating). The human walkways are small enough that the bartenders and other guests will brush against you a lot - even while seated. -I get the vibe they were going for here, but with the smaller space, I think a lot of the potential decor options had to "go" in order to fit more humans. It's giving me hardcore The Hearth Room (in Cincinnati) vibes, and I think it could honestly pull it off if it simply had more space. The "relaxed, sophisticated bourbon bar" doesn't quite come through as well when things are so focused on simply fitting in more bodies. -It's loud AF. Like, really, really loud. Between all the people and the blasting pop music, it required leaning into someone's ear in order to speak at normal volumes. We'd regularly have to pause the conversation if something in the music was building to a drop. This is not a place I'd take someone I wasn't very very comfortable with because it really requires being in someone's space to talk. -There's a single all-gender toilet here for everyone in the establishment. It's basically a revolving door of people in and out of it. The door auto-closes, however, so it's really difficult to figure out if it's open or not. There was usually a queue of people waiting in front of the door.
