We occasionally go to this restaurant simply because there is no other choice in the area. The service has always been dismal and the food often not a lot better.
It is such a shame, as it is a great building in a great setting. I imagine that the business only survives due to there being no competition in the area.
My wife and I called in again today for hot drinks and a small bite to eat.
Firstly the restaurant was about 10 minutes late in opening.
The customers in front of me in the queue ordered 2 hot chocolates, which they intermediately told the staff member they were cold. He replied stating that he had heated them in the coffee machine. He showed no interest in remedying the situation until the customers convinced him. I then witnessed him pouring them back in to a stainless steel jug, and re steaming them, before pouring it back into the original cups. He then presented them back to the customers with liquid pouring down at least one of the cups.
My order included a pot of tea with lemon from the menu. I was informed that they had no pots. I had to go and check what my table number was, and on return and after completing my order, I was told there was no lemon.
I was not informed that food would not be delivered until 11:30 until I queried it with the staff member, after hearing another staff member ask if I was aware of this. He then said the food would be brought out about 1130.
We waited...
After 11:40 my wife went and chased up our order, and it came within a few minutes.
The food was passable, but not great.
I would say the service both myself and the previous customers received is probably due to poorly trained and motivated staff. And also poor management when it comes to ordering and publicity (no lemons, no pots for tea).
The service of this venue is unacceptable.
I eagerly await a good operator to this stunning venue! read more
