This run down pub has recently been refurbished and is now part of the White Brasserie Company. The refurbishment has been done to a good standard and the restaurant is lively and you can see your food being freshly cooked. The staff are pleasant but not very knowledgable about the menu. The wine list is extensive and we had a delicious bottle of Chenin Blanc. Three of us are here on a Sunday evening, one person had the soufflé to start followed by the pie of the day which were both very good. Another had mussels for main course which were good. I do not eat wheat or dairy and whilst their allergen menu was extremely informative, their were only two dishes I liked and could have. I chose the roast chicken and had chips and coleslaw with it as the mash and carrots included butter which I couldn't have. Sadly my dish was only OK. The cost of the meal was £30 per head which was good value, for two courses plus a bottle of wine. I would go again but wouldn't have the chicken. You also need to book as you won't get a table otherwise. read more
