My first trip was off putting, my second and third trips were great! The first time I went we got a drink and were told that because we only got one drink we were not allowed to sit anywhere. The seats were for people who bought $25 worth of drinks, we eventually got another drink which added up to $25+so we were now able to sit. SMH. The second and third times we weren't told of that rule. The location is amazing A you can see all of Dallas. Other than the view, there's nothing else that separates it from other bars. This place was magical. I know that sounds cheesy, but I loved everything about Waterproof. The rooftop brought me a different kind of tranquility. Maybe it was the friends I was with or the weather at this time, but I loved all the vibes and views that came along with Waterproof. There's a serene 3 ft deep pool surrounded by blue and white chairs, couches, and lounge areas. Our bartender made good mimosas, and I'll never get tired of city skylines. I wish I was there longer. My friends said it's more amazing at night, so I'll have to come back in the evening and revisit. Bought tickets for the Winterproof experience last Friday. I'll start by saying, I really don't think you actually need tickets. No one checked our tickets or asked for our name when we walked in because it was fairly empty. So save your $20 lol. The decor outside for Winterproof was underwhelming, the igloos you could reserve for a F&B minimum were just okay. We were there for about 30 minutes and never had a server come up to us for our order. We tried going to the bar, but the bartenders were also only tending to who seemed like regulars. After 30 minutes of still not being looked at we left and went to another hotel nearby with a much better vibe, decor and service. Not impressed :( read more

WaterProof is a trendy bar on top of the Statler Boutique Hotel. This bar has a lot of pros to it but costumer service is not one of them. The bar has beautiful modern, trendy decor, outside pool, amazing views, beautiful people but again sadly their costumer service was not present. Waterproof was not near full, ambiance was actually quite quiet and there were 4 bar tenders behind the bar and none of them asked if we wanted drinks. A classy rooftop bar located on the top of The Statler Hotel in downtown Dallas. There isn't that much seating overall and once full the lineup will start in the lobby of the hotel. Paid street and lot parking nearby and valet services are available. Atmosphere (4 out of 5): Compared to rooftop bars in general, this isn't anything too different. Pop music in the early evening turning into louder more upbeat music as the night goes on. The lighting is provided by artificial fire lamps. There is an infinity pool in the middle of the roof, with reserve-able "igloos" around - essentially heated private enclosed igloo-like structures available for booking at a min-spend. Service (4 out of 5): Service was very classy and our server was very attentive. We also had the manager come by to check in on us in the middle of our stay. Surprisingly, the glasses our drinks were served in were plastic, not glass, which slightly ruined the "upper-class" feel of a rooftop bar. We didn't order any food, but rather shared a bottle of Prosecco which was served promptly in an ice bucket. Was refreshing. Value (4 out of 5): For one of the few rooftop bars in Dallas, there wasn't actually a significant upcharge for the food or drink. The prices were similar to that of a higher end ground-level bar and I was pleasantly surprised at the prices overall. The skyline views wasn't anything too special compared to other larger cities (it was near the best you can get in the middle of Dallas), but was still enough for the fancy atmosphere. I'm guessing the entire roof top is about 3000 square feet and they had about 100 people there. What's the point of making reservation? This is a nice place to go i believe for brunch or day drinking, due to the pool. However the waitress and waiters are out to get money. Our group had vip, cost $450 total spending needed. We had a few additional guests show up and they tried to hike the price up on us after only saying we had to have minimum nunver never a maximum or once we reached. A certain number they would hike up prices. Then our vip time ended and 3 of us decided to stay for a little longer and enjoy the sunset however the waitress tried to get one over on us by saying we had to spend $70 each, after spending close to $600 in vip. I spoke with her and she reneged on this saying nvm, luckily one person in our group has been in the bartending industryfor a while and knew this was BS. One of the worst rooftop bars/ lounges I have ever been to. This place is supposed to be a more high end experience with a beautiful view of the skyline based on the picture but the service you get is absolutely horrible. I did my due diligence as always and called ahead of my reservation. I called ahead of time and they said they had everything taken care of and made sure they had everything taken care of and they had vegetarian food available. When I got there, I realized the place was packed for the Euros and the volume was unbelievably loud(couldn't hear the person I was with without yelling), which they didn't communicate before. They made me pay a $20 entrance fee bc of the watch party for the euros if I remember correctly (which was not communicated before as well) in addition to the $50 minimum they had. We sat down for literally 2 minutes before we decided to leave but when we asked for a refund for the entrance fee, they said no and when I tried to reason with them that I just got in, they shrugged and said "it's not up for discussion" and to leave if we're not staying. I own a luxury space of my own and if I saw my staff handle that situation in that manner, they'd be fired in the spot. Save the time and energy there are way better lounges around Dallas with better service. read more

We waited for two hours for our bottle, I do not blame the bottle service girls but shame on the statler for coming up with these over booked sections with little staff, crammed tables but still charging us 500$ for a bottle of Tito's this "section" got sat on the patio with a table with 6 chairs, I booked a vip pool lounge ticket for 8, I asked the server if we could move and they told us no, again trying to understand the server side, understand they are sold out. They had multiple bottles on my tab on the end of the night and I had to clarify which I actually had. Which was one Tito's not five. I was super close to other tables there can be some confusion but that was a super close call and kinda sketchy in my eyes from an industry person just trying to enjoy the holiday. read more

Love the roof top deck! Such a great view of the city. Sit under the "stars" in the covered area or lounge around the pool on the uncovered side at a table or cabana. STELLAR SERVICE! I had a private event at Waterproof on Sat and I am completely satisfied. My event was from 6 - 9pm. I was treated with respect, care, and concern by every single staff member. Everyone that interacted with me made me feel like my satisfaction was their number one priority. This includes the catering staff, management, waitresses, event planner, and the security guards. My guest and I was shocked that the food not only appeared delicious, it was delicious. The ambiance is amazing. My goals was to provide a wonderful evening for my guest and the staff at Waterproof helped me accomplish my goal. The staff was so accommodating and had wonderful attitudes. I will definitely consider them for future events. I have only two concerns. One of my guest paid with a credit card and the waitress lost the credit card on the way back with the ticket. This same guest said they picked up a random credit card on the floor when they first arrived. They should definitely do more to secure the credit cards and make sure they don't fall out. The other concern is there is a small area on the patio floor that does not feel secure. It feels a little wobbly. Who doesn't love a good roof top view? Well if you do, check out this place. I went here with a couple girlfriends just to check the place out on a Saturday. Parking was fairly easy as it as still early in the day, however finding the actual rooftop was a bit more tricky. Once we found it, it was pretty empty up there which was great as we were able to actually enjoy the scenery. We didn't come for happy hour or for food, so I can't give my take on either of those. However, we ordered a couple drinks which were average priced. Our waitress was even nice enough to ask the bartender to make something up for us, which is always fun. We took a couple pictures, had a couple drinks then left. Only thing I don't think they had was music. I'd deff like to come back for happy hour, if they have one. read more

Truly horrible service. If you are going to be required to spend $400 minimum in an evening you should receive more personalized services than would be received at a Chuck E. Cheese. Unfortunately Waterproof did not deliver in this regard. At one point I left my groups little roof top igloo and walked to the bar to request some service and the bar tender asked who my server was. I told her I didn't know because she hadn't been around and the bar tender said, "well I can't help you. We are different sections.". I would strongly advise against going to the Statler hotel bars or restaurants. Dallas has too many good places to waste your time, money, and patience on this place. Two thumbs way down. Knowingly showed up early around 9:10pm as we didn't have a reservation. (Had one a few days before but at that time decided $75 min per person in F&B was too much). The drinks were pretty good and normal prices ($12-$14 a cocktail) , the food ($12-$19 an appetizer/entree) Minus 2 stars for food quality/taste mostly. We ordered 3 entrees of shrimp scampi in our party and NO ONE liked it, had a weird sauce (not traditional scampi) and the noodles seemed a bit over cooked. Our waitress ended up comping one of them. The rest of the food was so so, we were told upfront food would take 30-45 minutes as the restaurant serves 4 other venues ... but with having to get to our F&B min and food quality lacking, $300 minimum for our party is more realistic. ... spend most your money on drinks/pitchers... they also brought all the food out in to go containers, some items were hot, some were luke warm, and portions were on the smaller side. I have been here once before and the pizza was very good, but this time not so much ... felt like most of food got tossed at the end of the night. It started to get busy around 11:15pm and the music changes to a nice mix of hip hop shortly after 10:30pm... everyone had a blast! I'm not going to lie to you and tell you that this place is cheap but what I will say is that it is worth it. I stopped through here while in town for business and kind of found this place, and what a place to find it was. There's this hip country-club vibe to this rooftop bar on top of a building that looks like it's stuck in the 70s (in a good way). From the lobby to the bar and through to the patio with a pool on it, this place is going to fill your eyes with an experience that is hard to match. Their clean-feeling white color scheme is wonderfully complimented by wooden and copper accents. The outdoor patio area is clean and crisp and gives you one of the better views of the City of Dallas that downtown has to offer. One would be up here prior to hearing about this place. They got about a half dozen or so cabanas you can reserve. Area around the pool available for lounging. Nice little "patio area" a few steps down from the pool. The indoor area is SUPER nice! SHOCKED I hadn't been here before. Great interior design. Bathrooms? SPOTLESS. Drinks are great! SEXUAL HARASSMENT FROM WATERPROOF BOUNCER On Thanksgiving night, I had an inappropriate interaction with one of the bouncers at the establishment. Everything about the bar was great until: As I was leaving the bar, the bouncer followed me out towards the elevator to "proposition" me for illicit sexual activities with his other bouncer friend there. I believe that this proposition was sex work, and that he assumed I was soliciting, he used the term "hustling" in relation to the proposition. The only interaction I had with him and his bouncer friend prior was when I'm entering the Statler Hotel to go into the bar, and they held the elevator for me. I even felt that were trying to flirt with me in the elevator. When I go to leave Waterproof he said, "You not gonna go say bye to my boy?" Referring to the other bouncer friend. I disregard and leave anyway, but the bouncer follows me to say "I'm tryna figure out what you tryna do, my boy got a proposition for you." He repeats that several times because I would respond "I have no idea what you're talking about." He then asks "Like are you hustling?" And that's when it clicked for me that he was trying to see if I was down for sex work. I act dumb and say "yeah I'm hustling with graphic design, because I'm a graphic designer. But what did you mean though?" He tried to back track and say "oh I don't even want to ask you no more." The worst thing about it is as uncomfortable as I felt who was I supposed seek protection from, when it's this literal bouncer is making me uncomfortable and feel unsafe. And I was by myself, which the bouncer knew!! I didn't even try to go back to speak with a manager because he could've blocked me from going back in to report him. Since then I've called Waterproof several times and got voicemail every time (when they've been open). Ive also tried emailing the contact I was given by the Statler hotel, but also NO RESPONSE. And I can't walk back in there myself, because the bouncer could be there also. So now, I will be reporting them to TABC, because I can't be the first one this has happened to if an employee is bold enough to get sex work from a guest! read more

The only reason I'm giving this place 1 star is because I have to in order to write this review. I'm from California , So I flew into Dallas to take my best friend out for her birthday and celebrate me retiring from 12 years in the military. When we first arrived I was so excited. The place is very nice and scenery is absolutely beautiful. We were the only customers there. It was the soft opening, I wasn't informed of that when I made my reservation three weeks ago. (They should inform you) We were sat we ordered a bottle of champagne. It was brought in with a nice presentation. (Bottle Service Ladies, lights and a sign) The young lady pours our champagne and it's all froth or as we in the hospitality industry call head or collar. It left 1 inch of champagne. (I have the video) And she hands us our glass. But In my mind I'm thinking there's not much champagne in this glass. Not a big deal. You can tell it was this girl's first time serving champagne. Now the manager standing off to the side saw the entire thing. Did nothing. ‍ ok now we are sitting there enjoying the DJ drink our Very Warm. Room Temperature Champagne. We asked for ice and informed our waitress of the temperature of the champagne and the lack of ice in the bucket. We also asked for new juice because flys had flown into the extremely warm juice carafes. Not to mention the not so clean glasses given. Which causes a safety concern in my mind. (Sanitation Isuue) We asked for new juice and napkins to cover the tops and Nothing was ever brought. I kindly asked to speak to a manager and no one ever came. With a pretty much full Warm bottle of Champagne sitting there I decided it's time to go. We'd been there for 25 minutes The staff was so into taking photos of each other, we had no help. I went retrieve my check and talk to the manager since no one came by for while. I explained to the manager about the few things that occurred and were concerning. He then laughed and went on about a story of how it is the bars soft opening and it's to be expected that the girls aren't trained just yet. And the bottles of champagne were on pallets and had not been put into the fridge before we came so that's why our champagne wasn't cold, our carafes weren't covered because they don't do that He informed us that new ones are coming in next week. (Which doesn't solve my problem now) he went on to say WE SHOULD BE HAPPY with the scenery that he worked so hard on as he laughs. AND ROLLS HIS EYES. ‍ Soooooooooo.... Not one of the issues addressed or handled. I've worked as a general manager of a Disney resort for 6 yrs before going into the military. I would be completely embarrassed by what happened. Service Is EVERYTHING! No empathy, no service recovery NOTHING. It's disgusting how a "manager" can discard you and issues caused by the lack of training of your staff. A soft opening isn't an excuse for terrible customer service it's an evening where Patrons come to enjoy themselves because you Are Indeed ready to open. I as a customer should never know what happens in the back of the house or heart of the house That should NOT have anything to do with me. But if it effects me it should be addressed. Hell, I have my own roof at home that I can enjoy an Ice Cold Glass of Wine on, I don't have to fly all the way to Texas to experience something this unprofessional. When an issue is bought Management's attention it shouldn't be joked around with and isn't a laughing matter. I Did Not let that Ruin Our Night, We went to Mexican Sugar after leaving and had the Best Service Ever! Ordered 4 bottles and had a blast. Waterproof needs MAJOR MAJOR WORK. I'll be taking this further, places like this think people will let things go and it's not a big deal. Well there wrong, it's a huge deal to me and I don't take being laughed at easily. I came here for a night cap in the middle of the week to get a great view of the city of Dallas. I can imagine this place being super crowded and popular during the day on the weekend. I might not like it on a Friday and Saturday during the day, but on a Monday at 10pm, it was super chill with a great view of downtown. Located at the top of the Statler Hotel, I love that they kept the mid century modern look. The drinks were reasonably priced (I'm from Chicago so I base my prices on drinks in Chicago). If you're a smoker, you are not allowed to smoke on the rooftop as several patrons were scolded while I was up there. When you're done with WaterProof, definitely check out Bourbon and Banter in the basement for a nice speakeasy! read more

Upon arriving to Waterproof I walked in to find my group of friends being chastised and degraded by a staff member named Sally. She had a terrible attitude, told us the reservation we made wasn't right (though it matched our booking confirmation and is advertised on the website) and threatened to call security for asking questions once she confused everyone. Not sure if she was having a bad day or she just treats everyone rudely; she wasn't at the pool when we've come before, thankfully. After about 4 minutes of asking her to simply seat our group Sally finally walked us to the patio area beyond the pool. As our group was getting settled we noticed security seemed to be hovering nearby and wondered if Sally had told them to watch us, very uncomfortable. After sitting for several minutes with no server coming over I found Ashley at the bar (I think she's the Bar Manager?). She apologized for the wait and said she'd send a server right over. Ashley's customer service was stellar, absolutely loved her energy. I cannot possibly rave about our server Jackie enough! She had a great attitude, checked on our group as items were coming out and made sure to manage expectations since the kitchen was a little backed up and food was taking long. Sally could learn SO much about customer satisfaction from Ashley and Jackie! We ordered bottles and plenty of food--highly recommend the Thelma & Louise pizza, it's divine. If it weren't for Ashley and Jackie turning the entire experience around I would be done with Waterproof. The place is beautiful, I was staying at the Statler hotel downstairs and went there in the afternoon to make a reservation for the evening to see the sunset with my wife and our 18 months son. I booked a snowball as it was the only option to keep my son from running around everywhere. I made it pretty clear during the reservation that I needed a snowball. The employee even showed me the one I was booking. Bottomline it was all good until we arrived and the reservation was finally for something else (kind of bench). Then we were just screwed and left with our frustration, not even an excuse from the staff or anybody trying to fix the issue. We're usually concilient about these situations but unfortunately with a 18 months we didn't have that flexibility. And then he brought me downstairs personally to the speakeasy ( on fire) where they did have the stuff. However the bartender didn't know how to make this yet. There just aren't enough bartenders at the bar to accommodate the many patrons that fill this place. I have yet to order a drink here. Every time I've waited over twelve minutes. No service. Not even an acknowledgement. As I have sat waiting to be served I've had nothing to do but take in the scenery. I'll be the first to admit that I'm a snob and prefer a place that oozes class. This place does not. Backward hats. Baggy pants sitting below butt cheeks. The "class" is anything but. The extra star is for the view which is stunning. read more
