After spending the afternoon wine tasting with my dad, we came to the Waterloo for a bite to eat. My dad had heard about it from a friend and we decided to give it a try. The bar was packed when we arrived and they had just begun seating for dinner. We were seated right away and the restaurant quickly filled up. To start, we ordered the mushroom bowl and the rib ends. Those two appetizers in and of themselves could have been our entire meal. The mushroom bowl was phenomenal, with perfectly sautéed mushrooms served in a bread bowl and covered with a delicious gravy. The rib ends were tasty as well. Slightly charred, they had just the right amount of seasoning and barbecue sauce on them. For our entrées, we couldn't decide between the chicken, the ribs, and their infamous pesto pasta. So we ordered the Waterloo Special which comes with both barbecue chicken and ribs, and the Pesto Pasta dinner, which is an entire plate of their delicious pesto sauce over pasta noodles. The ribs fell off the bone and melted in your mouth, and the chicken was juicy and cooked perfectly. The pesto pasta with some of the best pesto I have ever had. So if you ever find yourself off the 88 and looking for a bite to eat at a random hole in the wall, the Waterloo is definitely worth the drive. read more

This place is such a hidden gem! It's been so long since my boyfriend and I had exceptional customer service. Very floor staff helps each other out, such great team work. Out main server was super speedy, loved talking with the older ladies. They know how to hustle. The food was amazing. I had the burnt ends appetizer, huge chunk of meat! I market price steak order that came with a side, I chose the milestrone soup. Bf had the rib and chicken dinner with a side salad. The house dressing was delicious and fresh. I have been going to this restaurant for at least 25 years and it's has gotten worse then better then even worse. After last night will be a very long time Before going back. Service was horrible for a party of 8 in a restaurant that was not at capacity. Waitress took are orders from the head of table around and I assume she wrote them down in that order? When salads and soup came the passed from one end of table To the other because wait staff didn't know who got what and was just calling out . Five minutes later they were back Trying to collect salad and soup plates and bowls when we weren't finished. Again restaurant was not full and no one was waiting. I despise being rushed through courses and interrupted during a conversation while I'm taking a bite to see if I'm finished I'm clearly not finished my fork is in my hand. When the food started coming out same thing happened calling out orders from end of table waiting for us to tell them who ordered what while we were trying to enjoy our evening. One member of our party asked for scampi which isn't normally available on Saturday night and was told they could accommodate .. 7 tiny shrimp and a plum size baked potato $38 . Several of us ordered ribs and pesto there specialty ribs undercooked tough and fatty and pesto cold and tasteless . These are the signature dishes . Multiple orders were brought out wrong and additional drink orders were never brought . Again in a restaurant that was not at capacity. A gratuity of 18% is added to large parties and I usually wouldn't mind if service was even close to par. Waterloo is not the same and never will be staff is not trained and food is subpar for the ridiculous prices they charge. read more

Been driving by this place for a long time and finally able to stop in for dinner. The place was very busy at 4:30 pm on a saturday night but we were able to be seated right away at a small table. In fact the table was tiny and we struggled to fit plates, drinks etc. Our server was super fast - almost to the point of rushing us. I felt like they wanted to turn the table as soon as possible. I ordered a martini, the steak with pesto/spaghetti combo and mushrooms and my husband ordered the Waterloo special. Our salad was brought out with bread, which looked great but was completely bland. My Steak was well cooked and the pesto was very good. The mushrooms were luke warm and kind of in a gooey sauce. not good. My husband liked the chicken best and was very underwhelmed by the ribs. I tasted them and they were tough and fatty. Since we were rushed I didn't have a dessert. I don't think I'll be back to try one either. read more

Just went Friday night before Thanksgiving and this place was booming. It has a very warm everyone knows you vibe. Literally met 2 people who said they have been eating there for 30 years. The food and drinks were good and they have a hard working staff. Honestly one of the best nights out I have had in a while. Will be back for sure. UPDATE: 7/1/2020. I just found out today that some employees have tested positive for COVID-19. In reading one of the current reviews it seems like not every employee/owner is taking this serious. I won't be back, but I do wish everyone a quick recovery. Now here's my review: I went with a group of seven, but I'll be speaking for myself. First; our waitress was amazing. She was busy but still made us feel as if we were her only customers. We appreciate her. Next, I ordered the steamers. The menu stated something special about them. Our waitress thought they were out and ran to the back to find out they had them. Ok. Great. I ordered them, and a salad with homemade ranch. The salad was warm and nothing special. I expected amazing dressing and it was a 2/10. I was hungry so I ate it along with the amazing bread. Then my steamers arrived. I was excited, but on my first bite I got a shell and no less than 10 times after that. I think everything from the bottom of the pot was just dumped in a bowl and served. I thought for sure I was going to have to see the dentist afterwards. I'm sorry to keep complaining, but the broth the steamers were sitting in was disgusting. The broth tasted awful and looked like old dish water. The clams were rubbery. I only could stomach about 10 of them. Needless to say, I was very disappointed with my purchase. One last thing; the noise level by the bar is very high. My elderly mother could barely hear our conversations. I don't recommend. My little town of El Dorado has much better food. read more

Comes with your choice of soup or salad, bread and butter and a side dish which the logical choice here would be pesto. Betty is known for her melt-in-your-mouth pesto. Not a quiet place for a romantic date. But it is a place to get some of the best food around. Most likely a wait on a weekend evening, loud and noisy and tables close together but overlook all of that and enjoy the food. Tonight was probably some of the best food I've ever had there. Sometimes the ribs can be fatty but tonight the ribs were lean and spot on. I hope they continue to serve lean ribs. The barbecue sauce, which is very tasty, was quite thin in consistency coming out of the bottle. And yes, I shook the bottle well. Too thin and it does not stick to the meat. Someone said well it's a sandwich for 14.00 I want a good sandwich. They brought out bread for the table that felt like it had been microwaved and was so hard I was afraid I would crack a tooth. My club sandwich was on Genova bread which I usually love it was soggy as the pasta sauce had gotten on it the cheese they put on it was processed cheese slice, the deli meat tasted like out of a package the bacon was over done i literally ate a quarter of it couldn't finish it, the pasta was bland and over salted. I don't mind paying a lot for a sandwich for example I went to dancing fox in Lodi their sandwich was delicious well worth the money it had Fresh made focaccia bread, carved Turkey fresh cheese and their special Mayo on it delicious. I will not be returning Waterloo again. Plus if you want to split a plate 2.50 she couldn't split ticket which is often case but they will tally for you and give you your total not here she ran each card for whatever you tell her to example my sandwich was 13.95 no drink I had her run it for 20 which included Her tip and sales tax so I didn't skimp on her Tip even Though I didn't like my food. I had the 7 rib plate with pesto pasta, minestrone soup, & garlic bread for $18.99 this was a dinner item however the lunch items are much cheaper. The BBQ sauce was an old recipe from the Milano family in southern Italy. Great atmosphere wall to wall people very friendly, you need to get her early if you want a table because 20 minutes after they open it was standing room only people waiting to get in. These are difficult times. And I still have great memories of the New York steak with fettuccine dinner, I ordered. The salad was cool and crisp and included lots of additional toppings. When the steak entree was brought to our table, even after cooking, it had to be two inches thick! It was cooked perfect medium rare, juicy, hot, and soo tasty. Barely had room for half the dinner. Had a group lunch on a Friday and after being sat down . We had been given bread and water but never asked if we wanted drinks. Got our meals ordered and still never asked if we wanted anything to drink . Had three dirty glasses so couldn't even drink the water . Who knew there was a town called Waterloo! Anyway, I digress... The food was very tasty and the sautéed mushrooms were in a gravy that is to die for. The pesto noodles were good, neutral in pesto favor. (Personally, I would have liked double the pesto...but that is me.) The 6 year old loved all of it, enjoyed the ribs and begged for more.
