Finally got around to trying this place. I was super excited to try it, however the ambiance wasn't at all what was expected. Idk don't ask. Lol The waitress was really nice the service was good for Sure. The food is where i was disappointed. The ribs were just whatever nothing special, the chicken tasted like Costco rotisserie chicken with their Waterloo sauce on it honestly, the pesto was watery and bland. Didn't taste much like pesto. The bread and salad were fresh, the steak, ribs and pasta were cooked perfectly. Serving size was also great. You will not leave here hungry, that is for sure. Took a drive to meet with family halfway between Elk Grove and Modesto. This place takes you back to the 1970's or even the 1870's real quick. You gotta love having to walk through the bar to get to the restaurant! It's awesome! The ambiance is wonderful. Very airy and lots of good vibes. Food was very good! Best New York steak I've had in a long time! Everything was spot on. Our server was a young Hispanic lady with Rosey cheeks, I wish I had gotten her name. They have a lot of support staff. Our server was so on top of everything and was just a joy. I liked the way all the servers worked as a team! The only reason for the four stars instead of five was the dessert. We all got peach cobbler for $9. We got four or fives spoons of peach filling with out meal on top and a scoop of ice cream. It was very disappointing. This place is quintessential home town feels. Filled with local families every day of the week. You can hang out at the bar and eat or grab a table for the whole family. After a day of wine tasting we were taken here by my family that lives nearby in Linden. They were busy when we arrived and got totaly packed 20mins later. The wine selection is great showcasing local wineries, lots of great priced wine from Lodi. The specialty here is the mushroom bread bowl. OMG it was freaking delicious!!! We tore that up! The riblets soft and juicy and the baskets of bread never empty. Staff was young and always joking with us. Good service all around. We ordered the steak ($42) with salad and pesto pasta and split it. There was plenty for both of us, they split the salad too. Steak was the best I've had outside of Fleming's in SJ! This is a fantastic restaurant to visit on the way from Kirkwood back to the bay area. We have been here many times, and somehow it is always packed even midweek. Amazingly they were able to sit the 2 of us, as promised, in just 10 minutes. After making our choices we didn't have to wait long to get served our appetizer and the main course followed soon after. The ribs and steak we ordered were amazing, just what one needs after a full day of hitting the slopes. We definitely left very satisfied. The staff was very friendly and helpful. There was a small mix up in the drinks, but that was very quickly fixed after I mentioned it. We certainly will back at the next opportunity. read more

There were 14 people in our group, which took up 2 separate tables. We understood that they won't split checks, but they combined both tables on one check. It was difficult calculating what people had ordered (incl. tax & tip) since we had no idea what the other table ordered. After figuring out what each couple ordered and calculating it all, we passed the check over to the other table so they could identify their order and get their money together. The food and service was good, but this lack of effort on at least splitting the check for each table, overshadows the quality of my sandwich. They also charge $2.50 for sharing a plate and another $2.50 to substitute coleslaw for potato salad. It's also unbelievable that they do not have French fries. read more

Cool old school spot known for their giant servings of delicious ribs (which I can confirm are well worth the drive) to this rural Stockton suburb. The shrimp is pretty darn good as well. SF Giant fans will love the ambiance with numerous items devoted to the team aligning the walls. Here's what we ordered: Rib Ends - pretty good, but a big portion for 2 people (we mistakenly thought we were ordering burnt ends). Shrimp Cocktail, I really enjoyed them, and you get 24 pieces of shrimp for about 11-12 bucks. Waterloo Special - Ribs & Chicken, and a side of pasta. I felt like the ribs were a bit to charred (not by any means burnt) for my liking, but my bf liked them bc they had a bite to it. You can get a side of pasta with pesto sauce or red meat sauce. My bf got the red meat sauce, it was OK. The pasta itself was way too overcooked, and soggy. The sauce was meh. Seafood Fettuccine - this had great seafood flavor which included shrimp, baby scallops, and canned crab meat. My pasta was actually cooked perfectly, not overcooked like my bf's pasta. This was the first time I went for dinner. We had a group of 11with reservations. Instead of putting us at a rectangular long table first of all, we were put at two round tables. When asked if we could put them together we were told no due to "fire hazard...... The dinner was also pricey, roughly $600. I ordered the infamous ribs which I'm not sure where Bette's bbq sauce was because it was not on my ribs. Also these are not "fall off the bone" ribs, the pesto was not as creamy as I recalled it being when I use to have lunch there when JT and Bette were alive.
