Calamari

Great Food was a bit worried at first but it was very tasty. Especially since my family and I are so particular.

The food and service was nice. The ambiance was nice and cozy. We saw another table not happy with their food but our Salmon was on point.

We were greeted by Maris and told that the queue would be about 20 minutes. We were then seated shortly and served with a tin cup of popcorn (complimentary) as a treat to whet your appetite...Then our server-Ida proceeded to the explain the specials on the menu for us. We ordered the ribeye special for 2 cooked MR. The steak was seared perfectly and the meat was tender and flavorful . Accompanying this meal was the rich mushroom sauce and the Creamed spinach and the Garlicky mashed potatoes made the meal even more delicious. At the end of the meal we were treated with a soft serve ice cream. What a great treat to finish off an excellent meal! From the hospitality and the service and the great food......This place is Top Shelf!!!

Flat iron steak or burger plus handful of sides. Then on your way out, you get a scoop of ice cream on a cone or in a cup- vanilla soft serve with choco powder. Tasty and different! The flatiron steak cooked medium rare was SO GOOD. and you get a cute butcher's knife to cut it with instead of a normal steak knife. Truffle mac and cheese- SO GOOD. the breadcrumbs with the truff sauce... YUM. Eggplant veggie side- red sauce with lots of flavor, also tasty Garlic mashed potatoes- very garlicy, great with breadcrumbs. Yum Overall we loved the food, it was amazing And not badly priced! 15 british pounds for each steak plus about 5 pounds for each side

The basement has a bar, lounge and restaurant. It was a little noisy. But we could still talk. The roasted scallops were cooked perfectly. The green sauce was tasty. I love the presentation. The Bill Marrow was also good. It was very rich. There were two kinds of Sunday roast a sirloin and a rump. Three of us had the rump roast dinner and three had the sirloin roast dinner. It was hard to tell the difference. All the dinners came with roasted potatoes greens and of course, Yorkshire pudding. It was all delicious. I have to say my favorite part is always the Yorkshire pudding. I also have a green salad, which is basically just lettuce with a light dressing. It was very fresh. We were too full for dessert. The service was excellent. We were seated right away and given water. In the UK, you can order sparkling, still or tap. Sparkling and still come with a charge. Tap is usually free. Our server was attentive without hovering. It's a good idea to make reservations at Hawksmoor especially for the Sunday roast. We got there at three by the time we left around 4:30 some of the roasts were already sold out. Just a note: Sunday roost is usually a late lunch not a dinner. It's good to go between two and four especially if you don't have a reservation.

Short and sweet the meal/ entree was fantastic even though the lamb was slightly dry. What tips the balance to a 5-star review was a very key thing the server said to me after I mentioned I had an allergy. She asked "if a little cross contamination was ok or if I was seriously allergic". This demonstrated the realities of working in a kitchen and knowing the menu and the ingredients that go into each dish in a quick and practical manner all the while being respectful.

The burnt cheesecake was ok, but the toffee sticky pudding sent my tastebuds straight to heaven- it was so good!! The beef was exceptional (goes without saying) I tried to take pics of the food but their events' room was lit too dimly. Also the glass doors don't really keep the noise from the restaurant out which made it difficult for us to hear each other, it was a bit annoying. Thankfully we were an energetic bunch so we didn't mind shouting at each other. The servers were friendly, but not super attentive. There was a time when we ran out of water and no one came to refill for at least 15 min. Not sure if this is the norm or if it was a one of because they were very busy that night.

The biggest disappointment was the steak. For a steakhouse, I expected the steak to be the highlight of the meal, but the one I had just was not very good. The rest of the food was acceptable, but nothing stood out enough to justify the cost. Service was also inconsistent. Our waiter forgot a few things during the meal, including water and part of our order. My partner ordered fish, but the steak was initially placed in front of her. That was not a major issue on its own, but along with having to repeatedly call the waiter over because he was not checking on us, it made the service feel inattentive. The dining room was also uncomfortable. It was very hot outside that day, and with the windows open, the shades up, and the air conditioning not keeping up, it became extremely warm inside. It was also very bright, which made it harder to relax and enjoy the meal. Overall, it was not a terrible experience, but for over £400, I expected much better. At that price point, the steak should be excellent, the service should be attentive, and the restaurant should be comfortable. Unfortunately, this visit fell short.
