This is a great comic book story. Small but packed with comics. Great variety of new comics with many variants available. Also there are tons of back issue comics. John, the owner is super nice and helpful. Prices are fair. My only complaint would be the lack of a dollar or 50 cent bin. They also sell TPs and some figurines. Love this place! read more

When we first moved to Suisun City in 2007, I stumbled into Waterfront Comics and it instantly became one of my all-time favorite comic book shops. My favorite part: Comic books EVERYWHERE. Shelves packed with graphic novels, new issues rolling in on a weekly basis and short boxes filled with back-issues that you can get lost for hours. During our 4 years in Suisun, I spent a LOT of time digging, discovering, and just soaking in the magic of collecting. What made it even better was the friendship I built with John, the owner. Tons of back issues, trades, and new stuff. A little overwhelming if you are new to the world of comics, but they have everything to get you started on your new obsession. Definitely had a blast looking through their back issues. It's a bit dusty, but you will feel like you have found treasure when you find a book you weren't expecting or looking for. read more

Been coming to Waterfront again this past year with my kids after getting back into comics in early 2024, and have been having a great time. John and the rest of the staff are very responsive when it comes to ordering new comics and supplies. The shop also has preserved the largest supply of back issues in the area, which are very fun to dig through. In the front of the shop is a fantastic selection of kid's books. Went by this comic book store the other day never been there but someone I was with wanted to go in. I waited outside with someone else and saw a large table with comics and boxes of comics . ALL said free right on the cover printed on the cover. FREE. When my friend came out I said they have lots of free comics on the table (looked like for kids). Then someone yelled from inside. I didn't hear it but friend said he said they aren't free. So I stepped in the door to see an older guy kinda sitting in a cubby and I said I'm sorry did you say the comics aren't free? And he said yes you need to ask before you take something! I said they are outside on a table and it says free. He said you need to ask. I said they say free! He said you should still ask. I said they LITERALLY SAY FREE! And he said I don't care you should ask. Rude! You should not have a table set up on the sidewalk with numerous comic books that say on the cover free. If they aren't free post a sign and price. Or better yet don't put them outside! I would never recommend this place. That's why he doesn't have much business. My friend said the last time he was there the guy was rude too. Take your business elsewhere imo where it is appreciated. read more

In the tiny downtown of Suisun City besides the It's It ice cream outlet, you should also check out this comic book shop. I am not a comic book aficionado. But this place left an impression on me. The store is stocked full of comics and graphic novels, plus some action figures and pop bobble heads. The inventory of comics is impressive. The place is clean, tidy, and well organized for a comic book store. Pride of ownership for this small business owner shows. I dropped in on recent Saturday afternoon. I've been getting back into collecting after a brief five year hiatus. It's been as long since I've been to Waterfront Comics and was very happy that John was still here. He even remembered me and that I used to bring my daughter in! The store has lots, and I mean lots of comics, back issues, variants and other pop culture items for sale. You can spend hours perusing and still not have enough time in the day to get through it all. John is a wealth of knowledge and can answer all your questions with a smile and a great attitude. My first experience should have been enough to never visit this place again, BUT I wanted to give it a second chance. I was wrong...Both times the owner was rude, didn't bother to greet us and looked annoyed when we asked questions. He only perked up when he knew we were actually buying his books/comics. The store is dirty, extremely dusty, and cluttered. If I could give it zero stars I would. We try to support small businesses but with his cruddy attitude, lack of personal hygiene, and over all unkempt store - I'd much rather buy elsewhere. read more

Walked in and the employee had zero concern. I said "hi sir" and nothing. Customer service was not present. The employee did have 2 friends come in and they talked about their old job, I guess you have to be friends in order to get hospitality. Their collection of comics had a lot of dust on them, you will quickly build up dirt and dust on your fingers. Sadly, a lot of them don't have any backing to them either so the conditions of the comics are very poor. There were still comics selling for $5.00 and they were brown/yellow pages, spines torn, corners ripped and bent. Definitely not worth it at all. There are boxes that haven't been stored properly and cared for either, if you tried to pull a box out to look for another issue, it will start to tear and crumble. The only positive this place has going for it is they have recent comics and some toys for variety. Other than that I wouldn't bother going here. It feels like a cluttered mess, the comics don't deserve to remain in the poor conditions it is in. Over time, it will just get worse unless a massive reorganization and cleaning is done. The business itself will not last unless customer service is establishes and hospitality is present. read more

I recently went here on a Monday during regular business hours at around 2:45 pm. The store was closed but there was a sign that said the store would be reopened at 3:00 pm. I waited past 3:00 pm until 3:30 pm. The store was never reopened. I left pretty disappointed. It was frustrating to wait soooo long and not be able to get my comics on that day. The store still has a decent collection of titles plus bags and boards are free. However, not being open during your stated business hours gives me a bad impression of this place. Meh. read more

During times of Covid-19, I would think all people would be responsible and care for everyone's health. But when I walked in, I noticed the store owner did not even wear a mask. The place was very dusty and some of the books had dirt all over them. Well since I was here, I started to look through the new books on the racks and displayed on the table. After I got all the books I wanted, he started saying, this book is $10 (with a cover price of $3.99) and this book is $20 (cover price $5.99) and he kept on going with these prices from out of the air. I promptly returned all books that were NOT cover price. This was the worse experience I had going to a Local Comic Shop. The place is dirty, the owner doesn't wear any type of PPE and prices are inflated randomly when you pay. It's Dirty, Shady and definitely not a family friendly place. Waterfront Comics is one of the best comic shops around. The owner goes above and beyond when it comes to trying to be innovative. For example; they have had live comedy shows, a carnival type atmosphere outside the building during events, and the owner has been insturmental in helping the Suisun Waterfront become a better place to visit. It is a great place to have a meaningful dialogue about all things comics and comicbook related. For us nerds, it's our second home. I have known the owner since the days of when he was a clerk at Comics N Comix, which used to be in the mall. Once that company folded up, John took what he learned and set up shop inside a hair styling place. From there he made it to his own location. I'm proud to know the owner and proud to be a customer to Waterfront Comics. It's a shame this will most likely be hidden within the tombs of Yelp's "hidden" reviews, especially since they just solicited this review from me. I do know this, John is the type of owner that would literally give the shirt off his back if it was needed to help you. I see several negative reviews about his shop and other comic shops by people that don't know the first thing about comics. Note: The Walking Dead comics do not coincide with the TV show, and has always been printed in black and white. If you haven't been here, I strongly encourage you to give them a try. read more

On a long road trip and needed a quick comic fix, this shop looked interesting so popped in. Guy at counter (think owner) did not look up and payed no attention to us so started looking around- had a lot of back issues so the digging began, somewhat organized but not everything had price tags. Flies buzzing around, dust and cobwebs so impression was that not much done in form of housekeeping. Not everything had price tags, asked a guy who seemed to working there and he said upon checking out owner would look up price, but most of stock was cover price. I did find a couple issues that I needed so was a good stop in that regard. Upon checking out, owner was a little more friendly, my main grievance is that 3 issues I bought were clearly labeled $2 but after checking receipt realized I was charged more. This shop is GREAT! I have been to many comic shops across the US. Most shops don't even compare. WF Comics has an awesome selection of TPBs and HCs and is on the ball with keeping current issues. The owner is super knowledgeable and the entire staff is friendly. If I need any comic book questions answered, they are more than happy to oblige. If you think the staff isn't being nice or fair, you're probably not being nice or respectful yourself, because I can't emphasize their friendliness enough. I found this place Saturday by accident, stopped in, and bought 5 graphic novels. They had a nice selection and a cool, cave-like ambiance. The person who helped me was friendly, kind, and had good suggestions based on my tastes. He knew the names of everyone who walked through the door while I was there. Later, when I got home, I realized I had been accidentally overcharged for one of my books. When I called the next day, Sunday, he offered to make it right via PayPal. Today, Monday, I've got the credit. So, great selection, great service, great personal "feel." And all on the waterfront, so you can go read comics and relax in beautiful surroundings. read more

So easy parking (can't really complain). As soon as I walked in however, I noticed it was TOTALLY cold. In fact, the other shoppers in the store, left because how freezing it was. The actual store was completely messy and unorganized. There was literally no type of filing that i saw. And what was totally strange, is that all of the marvel comics and a few DC comics, we're all stored in the rear of the store. Normally comic stores are easy to understand, however, I had to ask for help to finding the Xmen Graphic Novels. What the hell. The shop owner was normal enough. Didnt know anyone was working did not get greeted or asked if we needed help at all. Wasnt until phone rung that we knew someone was in shop. Very clustered with boxes...dusty and cobwebs. Didnt get greeted until we whur ready to check out. Guy helped me find few books on my current list I was looking for. I had a list of maybe 60 back issues books I was looking for but shop was so humid and dusty/crowded with stuff just wanted to leave wife and I just felt claustrophobic. Good selection of trades and current books. Diamond invoices and boxes left all around store makes a shop look messy. read more

As a comic collector i am picky about my stores. The store certainly has alot of inventory which is great! However is was unorganized in areas. Didnt have much knowledge about where comics were or if they had in stock. The owner just doesnt feel like they wanna be there. I can only say that the hours of operation sign said, 12pm-5pm Sunday - Tuesday and 11am-7pm Wednesday - Saturday (I even called the Friday before I drove there from out of town to confirm) and no one ever showed up to open the doors. My son and I waited for 50 minutes and then just decided to hope Barnes and Noble would have what he was looking for. We did find a comic at Barnes and Noble but would have rather spent my money on a small business :/ There was another family waiting that drove from out of town as well. I would have liked to be able to give a review about their products but I need to be able to go inside to do that. read more

I highly recommend this place because it has every Batman I look for, even rare ones. I go all over the Bay Area looking for some but always get the same typical graphic novels. If they don't have it its on Amazon or eBay. Plus they keep prices the same as what is on the book. They usually have hard copies too, or have wrapping on them (meaning I'm too afraid to open). read more

My husband and I have been collecting comics for 23 years now. After moving from the SF area to Vacaville, we found ourselves buying our new releases from the comic book store at Solano Mall. That's where we met John (the owner). After the comic book store at the mall closed, we had to travel quite a distance to get our weekly new releases. Luckily, we found John moved to his location at the Waterfront in Suisun. Located in historic old Suisun, the town itself it a trip to explore. The comic book store is in one of the authentic old brick buildings. Very cool. I always look forward to our weekly trips to the store & area. John has a excellent stock of comics, figures, posters & comic supplies...always a pleasure! Need to work on his store hours though...I've been down twice when the store is supposed to open, and, it was not! Not a good thing. read more

Truth be told, I thought all comic book shops went the way of the dinosaurs, pogs, and the power rangers. But thankfully I was wrong because I was in a serious need of a comic book fix. I have probably drive by this place dozen of times, but never noticed it if not for the Yelp comments by Jaime and Miguel. Thanks folks. I walk in and seriously, my inner nerd was jumping up and down screaming , "I want! I want it! I want it!!!!". Had to space out my want for these great comic book and heroe things. I only have so much room in my car and credit cards, lol. The guy who ran it was extremely helpful and with the plethora of goodies here, I could of seriously maxed out my credit cards and could of satisfied my inner nerd. The variety of comic books, current and back issues was great, but the other super herlo and comic book related memorbilia was mind blowing. I will come here more often at least once a month. Best comic book store in the area. That said, it's the only comic book store in the area. Very small and dark, but a decent range and selection. I find they are somewhat dismissive of their younger customers when it's not an "event" day like Free Comic Book Day or a Suisun Festival day. If there's a grown-up enthusiast bending the staff's ear about Hayden P's hottness or something, a kid will be ignored, which is too bad. Esp. since my kid knows comic stores having lived in SF when he got into comics. Only other comment: open on time guys. Too many times I've come by when you were supposed to be open, but you weren't. read more

Anyone who doesn't like this store is a moron. John and his family are some of the nicest, most knowledgeable, and wonderful people I know. If you need something, John can order it. If you have a question, John will answer it without making you feel stupid for not knowing. He's always up for a lively debate and a conversation about who would win in a brawl. He can't buy your comics but he is willing to help you prove them if needed and if he can't find an item for you he will recommend where you can get it. Another thing most dot know about him is he is a bit of a philanthropist and helps locals out who are in need without any expectations.
