A relative was moved to another unit after a fire near theirs. Remediation took over 6 months. They have returned their original unit but now have an insect (roaches?) infestation. We recently visited and found roaches and their debris all over the kitchen. We cleaned as much as we could, and advised management of the situation. In 3 weeks, we've contacted them 2 - 3 times and nothing has been done. There is a person scheduled to clean weekly and they see and say nothing? We sent in our own exterminator, he was treated rudely by the staff. Really? Not acceptable. read more

What was once a 5-star, beautiful facility with accommodations for independent living, assisted living, and memory care has deteriorated into a 1-star, unsafe, unsanitary, and poorly managed, pest-infested community where seniors are treated with disregard and disrespect by management. * Management - The Executive Director is unfit and unqualified to work in a senior living environment. She consistently communicates with residents in a rude, dismissive, and condescending manner, seldom engages with residents, avoids addressing legitimate concerns, and demonstrates a clear lack of compassion or professionalism. Her leadership has contributed significantly to the overall decline in morale and quality of life for residents. * Theft from resident apartments - Multiple residents have reported missing items from their apartments. Concerns brought to management have been ignored or dismissed, leaving residents feeling unsafe and unprotected in their own homes. * Bed bugs, roaches, and ants - This became a recurring problem throughout the building after management allowed the garbage chute to remain backed up from the fourth floor to the ground floor for two weeks. Despite multiple complaints, management failed to act, claiming a part needed corporate approval. Corporate approval delays prevented timely repair. It was repaired only to break again a few weeks later. Infestations have continued despite repeated extermination treatments in my apartment and in apartments on every floor. This has created unsanitary and unsafe living conditions for residents. Many residents have had to discard mattresses, sofas, and other furniture due to this problem. Others have been forced to temporarily move out until it was safe to return. Several residents have suffered bed bug bites as a result of these ongoing infestations. This neglect from management has made it extremely difficult for residents to feel comfortable and secure in the building and in their apartments. * Outdoor walking path - The path used daily by residents for exercise remains obstructed and unsafe. Despite numerous requests, management has failed to remove debris or address low-hanging branches that make the walkway difficult to navigate. Pool - The pool heater has been broken since July, preventing residents from enjoying activities such as water aerobics. Despite repeated complaints, management refuses to spend the money to repair the heater, denying residents this important opportunity for physical exercise. * Activities - Activities that were part of the enticement of moving to this community have now been assigned to residents to handle themselves, rather than being organized and managed by staff as in the past. Residents are also responsible for setting up and taking down chairs, tables, and other equipment after each activity. * Washer and dryers - With two laundry rooms on each floor and several machines available, residents should not have concerns about doing laundry. However, very few machines work, and there is rarely a washer and dryer functioning at the same time. Seniors are forced to search other floors only to find those machines broken as well. Management has been informed repeatedly but has not responded or made any effort to replace the machines. * Communication from outside the facility - Family members of residents are restricted from communicating with the Executive Director or other staff to obtain answers regarding the care of their loved ones. The main phone line at the front desk often rings with no answer, or when answered, calls are purposely disconnected. * Lease - Residents were given a new lease to sign; however, when requesting a copy, they were told they would receive it soon. The leases sat on the Executive Director's desk awaiting her signature while residents were told she was "too busy" to handle it. It took four months before I finally received a copy of my lease, raising red flags about hidden violations or altered agreements. * Thermostat/Heat - The building cannot regulate heat properly, causing extreme temperature fluctuations throughout the day and night. When residents raise concerns, management's only guidance is to "open a window" if they get too hot, creating uncomfortable living conditions for seniors. read more

Most recently, they have added a new chef named Tim. He is a certified Baker. My mother is so happy with the food and the variety of food that is offered. During the height of Covid-19 pandemic, when the residents had to have their meals in their rooms, a lot of processed food was served. Now that they are back in the dining room, my mother could not be happier with the change in the chef staff. She receives 2 meals a day, and enjoys the food. I have been told that it is restaurant quality, and professional presentation. Every day is a new delicious adventure on the menu. The desserts and snacks are served with the dietary restrictions of seniors in mind. My mother is even gaining weight, which weight loss is the usual complaint about seniors. read more

Please get your loved ones out as soon as possible and do not even consider this place as a future home for ANYBODY! Residents are regularly robbed by staff members. Items, money, you name it. Managment is flimsy. They can't deal with their internal problems let alone the residents. The hallways smell like the carpet has been wet and not allowed to dry, topped with a perfume like smell to try and cover it up. The "new" carpets in some rooms has a very strong odor that does not go away even after years, and the air is stagnant. Any young healthy human could have trouble breathing in the apartments let alone an older person with potential respiratory issues. The cleaning staff does a very poor and sloppy job keeping the apartments clean. It may seem like a good deal compared to similar high cost senior living, however you get what you pay for. Executive Director Jana Paez is covering up the number of residents and employees sick with COVID. To keep the building from going under, she hides the real number of infected residents from the staff so they don't get scared and quit. Horrible place for the residents and staff. Majority of the memory care is sick, and the 4th floor residents are in major danger as well, get your parents out now! read more

My grandmother lived here from April 2008 until a week before her passing in July 2011. This is a luxury independent living retirement facility. The residents have their own apartments and all kinds of activities. The thing about Waterford Estates is that as long as a resident is healthy, everything is fine, but once they go into declining health, then you have issues. The top floor is supposed to be a more skilled nursing floor and they have their own dining room (the rest of the facility uses a nice dining room on the 1st floor), but the thing is you have to hire someone to give round the clock care to assist your loved one. We used the St Rita health care professionals recommended by Waterford and they were great. But we were pressured to move my grandmother to the fourth floor when she was not as mobile and the rent would jump from $ 2,500 a month (which included 2 meals), to $ 3,300 but we'd still be out of pocket to make sure she was taken care of. Then once my grandmother went into hospice care and was recommened to go toa full care nursing facility (outside of Waterford), the manager would not refund us her deposit due that we did not give them 30 days notice but Vitas Hospice bascialy gave us a weekend to make this decision and to get her moved. We ended up using the deposit to cover another months rent since management would not let us out of the lease without paying another month's rent in which 4 days into that next month, my grandmother passed. Please do your homework about these places, ask a lot of questions and stay on top of these places. read more

My mother-in-law was here first and we were thrilled with the staff, residents,options etc. we have now moved my mom here and after checking many place, this is still the best! Everything is well taken care off! Large apartments, many amenities ! My mom also receives two meals a day! She has celiac and the head chef has been awesome with helping her! My Dad has lived at Waterford Estates for a little over 3 years and recently moved to the 4th floor(Assisted Living). This transition went very well by the Grace of God and through the hard work and caring done by the staff. I have a relative at Waterford and find that, even though the decor is a little dated, the care is as good as anyplace else. It's fairly priced. The units are simple and some have balconies which is nice for opening the patio door and getting fresh air. The people who work there are generally well supervised and do a good job. However, as in all facilities it is wise to be realistic about what a limited staff can do--even on the 4th floor. Residents can wear a button or pull a cord to call for help but it may take 15-20 minutes for them to respond because they are working with another client. Nursing care on the 4th floor is useful and well run but it is not 24 hour. So ask about when nurses are on duty. Activities are good but much more limited on the weekends when, I suppose, they assume that residents will have visitors. Wherever you go ask how many people will be on staff on your floor during each shift. You may be surprised but it will help you to be realistic about what you can expect even in a good place like Waterford. read more

My Father-in-Law recently passed. He began living in the independent apartments in 2008. He needed assisted living, then eventually progressed into living in their new memory care unit. He enjoyed living there and participating in the many activities that they offer. The staff treated him like gold, regardless of how he treated them. It is a beautifully maintained facility with caring, excellent staff. When my Father-in-Law was placed in hospice care, the staff came to visit him at the hospital. I recommend this place highly. I would even hope to stay there myself if it were ever necessary. read more

Management at this facility leaves much to be desired. Although the facility seems nice enough, the way it is being run is seriously lacking. Money is the bottom line here, and they will tell you one thing and change their minds the minute you sign on the dotted line. They call too often which made me feel rushed and uncomfortable. Whoever owns this company should really rethink who they have in management. I urge you, do not consider living here, they do not care about you at all, they only care about your pocket book. read more

After searching and researching many assisted living/independent living places for my parents, Waterford Estates was the place we found to be the best. It fit what they needed. The property is beautifully landscaped and clean. They have recently undergone some very nice updates and decorating in the lobby, halls, and dining room. The amenities are endless; many activities, bus trips, hair salon, store, weekly socials, swimming pool, patio, OT and PT services, independent nursing care, and to many more to mention. Waterford is exceptionally clean which is a big plus, the nurses and staff there are very friendly and helpful with anything, and go above and beyond. My parents are in their own independent living apt. They enjoy it very much, if the need arises they can move up to the 4th floor to assisted living, which is very a nice touch as the nursing staff is very good up there too. The dining room and food is like a 4-star restaurant, the food and wait staff are exceptional. My parents have help with medication management and bathing, their CNA's are awesome and truly care about their patients. I would highly recommend this place to anyone, please ask for Jana or any of the awesome sales team. read more
