Now out of nowhere they are now $0.45 per gallon in April 2026 with water card, and without any notice. Pricing is ridiculous and I'm irritated I have money left on this water card. I go to water and ice religiously and really liked it until today when the new cashier deliberately shorted me my change! she kept practically half and from how she acted after she gave me my change (like she got away with it, and her sly grin that she gave the other cashier), I turned around, Counted my change and I was right! It was a little after 9p and my husband was craving ice cream. Our typical go-to is DQ but he was in the mood for THE REAL DEAL. We have driven past this Water & Ice store after his hockey games many times and he always commented on how he loved Thrifty ice cream. Well, last night was the night. We officially went and it was amazing! The two gentlemen working could not have been more friendly and surprisingly, there were quite a few people coming in and out, even at the late hour. My original intention was to just have a taste of his and not get anything of my own, BUT their real fruit smoothies had me SOLD! I got a peach, mango, banana, and strawberry smoothie and it was delicious! Naturally, I didn't finish all of it so I put it in the fridge and plan to blend it up with ice and make it come alive again! The prices are SO right - for two scoops in a cone it was just $3 and some change. SAME with my smoothie! Finding ice cream and/or a smoothie under $6 these days is super rare. We also got a 20 lb bag of ice for a little over 2 bucks. Yes, please! Why go to DQ when we can support a fab local business?! We will 100% be back. read more

I've been going here for a few years and its always decently busy but the customers seem to know how it all works and the staff is USUALLY super friendly but today, I went in and there were 3 people in line ahead of me and eventually2 people behind me. There was only 1 person working, and I get that she was busy so I threw down cash and said that it was getting uncomfortably full in there. There was a customer who ordered 5 or 6 different things on the menu so we all just stood in line waiting to pay. She should have told the guy to hold on to ring up a few people because 8 people in line plus 3 people eating ice cream inside is definitely overcrowded. There should never be a scenario where 1 person is left there by herself. She was like 16 and threw me attitude for putting down money and leaving. read more

I went in with my kids to grab some drinks and a cone or two, we weren't greeted with a hello (no biggie, I feel that's the norm today). We stood and picked everything out, drinks, debated flavors. And the , there was a crack in the earth: I asked if my daughter could sample an ice cream. My request was met with a tirade about "how we don't have small spoons" and "I won't give you a regular sized spoon." Maybe the request was some sort of act of privilege on my part but I thought it was pretty standard (like not greeting customers or just fellow humans is now standard). If you are looking for a mid-century modern ice cream to soothe your hipster sensibilities, Thrifty is that ice cream. It does not come in flavors like lobster or "moose tracks" or anything involving puns. The most exotic flavor is strawberry cheesecake. But it is truly fine ice cream. The butter pecan -- a fine MCM flavor that I ordinarily find insipid -- is deliciously buttery and convincingly pecan. I strongly recommend arming oneself with a cone before braving the screaming chaos of any of the stores in that strip. The clerk when I visited was very nice and possibly the only ice-cream scooper who has ever grasped how to exchange cone for money without making the cone-buyer feel klutzy and awkward. read more

I recently discovered this Water and Ice, mainly because it stays open until 10 pm. For the past year I had been getting water for my dispenser from the Water n Ice at Scottsdale Road and Thomas. The owner there creeps me out, especially after asking me if he could please touch my "beautiful" breasts. WTH? Plus he charges .45 per gallon and closes at 6 pm. The owner at this Water and Ice has always been kind and respectful. He only charges .25/gallon; a much more reasonable price for water. He offers a punch card, but you have to put a minimum of $25 on it. At .25/gallon, that card would last me a year so I haven't purchased the card. I pay cash per gallon each trip. I haven't tried the ice cream here, but will soon. I'm going to have to remember to check in when I go next because I have been here at least 10 times in the last year. read more

I must give them some credit as their Flavors are not boring vanilla, plain chocolate, etc. they're all mixed like crunchy chocolate, chocolate brownie, coconut something something.... This place is a bit of everything with ice cream so if you're looking to fill your water tank & eat ice cones and lick at ice cream, this is the place for you. Not a very friendly service either. Bought over 20 gallons of what was supposedly reverse osmosis water. They either have never changed the filters or it is merely tap water. We actually did a taste test of both tap on the paid for water and there is only minimal difference. Disgusting!!!!! read more

After repeatedly purchasing bottled water from the grocery stores and then running low a week later, I decide to purchase a water dispenser. I'm lucky to have this particular location nearby. Every single employee I've encountered here is super helpful and friendly. I come in every 3 weeks to fill up three 5 gallon jugs and the employees never fail to assist me to the car. It doesn't matter if they're slow or busy at the time. These guys take care of their customers! I rarely pass on the chance to take a fruit parfait with me as well. The skinny Been coming here for about a year now looks to be family owned which always makes me feel better. I usually come in afternoon time and on weekends I have never had to wait to fill up my tanks as they have plenty of space and or will try to work it out that everyone has a short wait. The gentleman in the front is always nice and has helped me with my water outside or comes to hold door which he doesn't have to (thanks my friend) he always lets me know what to try as far as ice cream or traditional Mexican snacks (tostilokos, escamochas etc) I finally gave in an tried the Sonoran dog which was excellent all fresh toppings as I saw him cut most of it in front of me as I was filling up water. The bad While this place deserves 5 stars I do find the music playing to be of a certain taste now I like hoe slapping drug dealing rap just as much as the next guy but I'm sure not everyone was amused by lil Wayne and his rapping about bitches loving him.
