Flight!
Katie G.

Such a cute, cozy spot to grab a glass of wine! We opted for a tasting of 4 wines and there were many to choose from. They offer a make your own wine option where you customize the wine and label for about 28 bottles. Would be such a great idea for an event. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. Hoping to be back soon!

Favorite place in Austin on my short weekend visit. The wine was incredible -- I would have brought some home if I had not had only carry on bags. My favorite was the blueberry and second was the current wine I believe it was? Tasted like the current wine Marilla made in Anne of Green Gables (shoutout to anyone who knows what I'm talking about lol). Service was great and the live music was a hit. Love the big comfy chairs too.

If you're a wine lover, you should def. check this place out! They make their own wine and you can even make your own wine at their winery which is so cool. I love the atmosphere here, so cozy and comfortable and the owner lady (probably...?) was super friendly and helpful! Argentine Malbec: $20.95 Cab, Malbec, Camenere: $26.95 (Price may differ now.) We finished two bottles here (for two ladies! lol), I didn't like malbec that much since it was a bit light for me, but I absolutely loved their blend red for sure. We also got cheese and crackers which came with some peanuts as well as raspberry gem. It was perfect snack for wine and we had such a good time here!

My gf is a member of their wine club - seems absolutely worth it if you ask me. For $45/per month, you receive two bottles of wine to take home and enjoy two complimentary glasses of wine at the winery in addition to other discounts and members only events! Place is so cozy and inviting and the manager is so kind and engaging. They even allow you to order food from next door at El Dorado Cafe (they will walk it over to you too). I had a great first experience and excited to come back and try more of their wines!

This place is such a gem. We went a few times to have a glass of wine here and the people working there ALWAYS remember our names. We then decided to make a batch of wine (actually 5) for our wedding gifts to give to our guests. What a fun experience! Since then (2020) we have joined the monthly wine club so we get a few free bottles of wine and discounts! It's next to ElDorado Cafe, and has couches, high tops, and a few tables outside too. Nice for a bridal shower, date night, or just for a glass of wine and to read a book by yourself. They have a range of wines from dry full bodied reds to light whites. I cannot recommend this place highly enough.

The quirky interior of W2W.

Water 2 Wine is best described (at least as they themselves put it) as 'Build-a-Bear for Adults'! I visited this establishment thinking it was a simple wine tasting spot. Actually, they also provide services as your own personal vintner and label maker, where you can taste, create, and label your own wine! While I have yet to try this full service out, the staff was very friendly, the wine (tried the whites only) was excellent, and you can palpably feel how fun the process is. Definitely coming back to celebrate good times with a custom-made wine!

Let's start with how cute this place is! I walked in and felt like I had been invited into someone's home the staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable im from out of town and im so glad I made the stop here before heading home! Ambience is nice 3 free wine tasting and the bottle prices are extremely reasonable and you can make your own wine. If you're looking for a place with a good vibe where everyone feels like family this is the place will return every time im in Austin!!

Making a Gruner baby!
Keri B.

If you are a young couple, or an old couple, or an odd couple, and you decide you want a wine baby, you may be a bit worried about where, when and how to do that. It's a big step and you should have nothing but the best for your Vino Bambino, so please look no further than Water 2 Wine, and Jenny in particular. She is the BEST midwife for your wine labor. We just had the best experience making, bottling and labeling our wine baby. It was smoooooth sailing and immediately made me want another :) When you decide to make your own wine, first, you'll get to sample the wines, ALL of them if you so wish. I spent two afternoons sampling bunches of them and all the staff were generous and enthusiastic in helping me find which wine I wanted. Then, you make an appt for conception. It's fairly simple and pleasurable. Again, you can grab a glass of wine as you work, mixing the juice and water and yeast in a giant white bucket (Carboy), churning away for about 10 minutes and then your part is done for about 6 weeks! The rest of the staff will ensure that your baby gestates comfortably and appropriately, testing its ph and sugars until its ready to be born. Then the magic happens. As the parent, you'll have full creativity in naming your baby. In which case, you can pick any 3 images you like, decide the wording and color scheme and font of the label, email all that to Jenny and she'll print out the most perfect labels. You can then invite a bunch of friends to witness and help in the birthing. You can bring in all kinds of snack ems and the fine ladies at Water 2 Wine will immediately ply your guests with tastings of their wine and you can buy bottles (and bottles) to facilitate in the birthing process. Everyone in your party can try their hand at filling bottles, corking bottles, melting the lid foils, and sticking on labels. In the end, you'll have about 30 bottles of fantastic wine ( I recommend the Gruner!) to share and take home. They make for fantastic house warming, business, wedding, new baby, Christmas, Hanukkah, etc gifts. In fact, if you decide last minute you'd like to adopt a wine baby for Christmas, they keep a bunch already made and ready to label for your Christmas party or gifts. Best thing was, our friends had so much fun and it was such a new experience for all of us that we WIN again as the hostess with the mostest. And, even though I had grand plans of using this wine at our housewarming party, I doubt it'll last another 8-10 months so we may indeed make another baby next year. Jenny and the rest of the staff really made this so much fun and interesting with all their cool contraptions and accomodated me with the music I wanted (got to have appropriate Edith Piaf wine birthing music!) and never left a wine glass dry in my group. So grab your partner, in life, in business, in crime, and get to makin that baby! They're the best kind of babies, they don't puke or shit or cry and instead of causing you stress, they relieve it. And in the end you'll have the coolest collectible bottles.

I opened a bottle of the Chateauneuf du Pape from Water2Wine. As we neared the end, this dark chunky crud started to pour out. Disgusting.

You walk in and immediately know you are not in some polished Instagram cocktail lounge. It is loud, a little gritty, and full of people who are clearly there to have a good time and not pretend otherwise. The beer is cold, the Lone Star flows like Texas water, and the vibe is pure old school Austin. And yes, the legendary bathroom situation deserves its own paragraph. The men's room features a giant ice filled trough for a urinal, which feels like something out of a 1970s roadside saloon documentary. Somehow it is both ridiculous and perfectly on brand. It actually becomes a conversation starter because you walk out laughing and immediately tell your friends they have to see it and go pee. The crowd was friendly, the bartenders were quick with the beers, and nobody was taking themselves too seriously. I ended up staying longer than planned, drinking Lone Stars and talking to random people like we had known each other for years. If you want craft cocktails served with a rosemary sprig this is not your place. If you want a hilarious, slightly chaotic, authentically divey night in Austin with cheap beer and great stories, Dirty Bill's absolutely delivers. Five stars and I would go back in a heartbeat.

They were spinning some popular tunes. The place was packed with a very fun crowd. It appears to be a bar you come to have drinks and chat. There was a small area where dancing could take place, but no one was dancing at the time. The staff including the general manager was super friendly. It felt like a wedding reception as you came into the club where you were greeted...very warm and welcoming. We had a drink and stayed a short while. It looked like a place you could come for a girls or guys night out or celebrating a fun occasion. Will definitely consider Dirty Bill's for a future fun evening...

Me and the wife went tonight for my birthday and I would absolutely recommend The Guest House! The ambiance is friendly, energetic and the service was impeccable. Our waitress and sommelier were genuine and extremely attentive but never overstayed their welcome. Cocktails were on par with downtown ATX but don't expect a heavy pour. Food is excellent and could easily contend with Odd Duck and Jeffrey's. This restaurant is modern, inventive and... different. A DJ in the restaurant creates a fun and "young" vibe for folks just starting to branch out into fine dining (IMO). Let it be known you can easily spend a fair amount but it's worth the visit. Here are my issues: The dress code is not enforced, seating arrangement isn't intimate, and it doesn't feel exclusive. I understand TGH is trying to put themselves on the map and I respect that. However, patrons can very easily drop $1K on dinner, and while the caliber of the staff matches the asking price, there appears to be no standard for the clientele as T-shirt wearers are accepted at the same level as black tie. Maybe that's just Austin and maybe that's acceptable for TGH. As the restaurant matures and further hones their craft, I would hope the standards increase. I've spent far less money for far better food and equivalent service while adhering to restaurant decorum. To TGH - Commanders Palace you are not. Keep up the good work but I expect a more intimate and professional dining experience for your asking price.

From the vibes, to the food, and the fun, Bull & Bowl delivered on every level. Located on West 6th, Bull & Bowl doesn't have a dedicated or private parking lot. There is street parking all around as well as paid parking lots near by as well. We made our way up to the second level and were immediately greeted by the staff. We were taken past the bar and mechanical bull to our tables. Service was great! They were patient and knowledgeable with the menu/offerings, and made sure everyone was well taken care of. Drinks were great, an expansive menu with specialty cocktail offerings as well as a full bar, side note they do not have draft here. So far as dinner, their menu is rather diverse and we ordered quite the spread. Food came out fast, accurate, and hot. I opted for their Buttermilk Caesar Salad and loved it. Although we only went for the Mechanical Bull and had a blast, they do offer arcade games, duckpin bowling, karaoke rooms, and more. I say that to highlight the energy here was high and there were a number of groups/parties enjoying at Bull & Bowl has to offer and it was LOUD in there.
