What a cool place! I saw a commercial for them the other day, then after reading the Yelp reviews, decided to check it out. As several people have mentioned, they are really friendly, and seemed to be fairly chummy with the "regulars" there. You get to try 5 wines for free, which was really fun. Every tasting after that is $1. I love that you can "try before you buy." I only wish that I had gone when I had more time, because I probably would've lingered over tastings. I HIGHLY recommend trying the chocolate raspberry port, if you're into port. Holy Mary, Mother of God, it was GOOD. The prices are really reasonable, both for by-the-glass wines and bottles. I walked out with a bottle of Shiraz, and it tasted even better than what I tried at the bar. Yum. They don't serve food, but will let you bring it in, so I see this as the site of many future happy hours with girlfriends. Water 2 Wine is a nice place to drop in for a neat experience that is fun and delicious. We made a batch of wine, which I had given to my friend as a unique birthday gift. The process took a few visits, all of which were enjoyable -- and made more so by the wines. The staff is great and they really make this place. I've been there several times and they consistently are high-energy and into what they are doing. And, they have a good time while they are focus on their customers having a good time. Nice to see the owner talking to customers, serving drinks, and helping the great staff keep the place moving. I get -- and appreciate -- the value proposition. Not only is it a fun place to hang out, the wines are are good -- some better than others -- and a value. We made an Amarone that would cost easily $40+ per bottle elsewhere. All in, we paid 25% of that and we enjoyed the process while also having the pride in making our own high-quality product. read more

We were on our way to Hobby Lobby, when we saw a sign "Free Wine Tasting." It caught our interest, to say the least! Honestly, I didn't expect a whole lot - it's kind of stuck in the Brodie Shopping center between Hobby Lobby and Freebirds, but once you walk inside, the ambiance is nice! As has been mentioned, the staff is very friendly. I think we were helped by the owner herself. We tried several wines, with a couple really nice stand-outs, but, thanks to Whole Food's amazing ability to find amazing wines for under $12, the price did not blow us away. I like the idea of making a custom label - but, since I'm already married, I can't think of when I'd do that. But, if you decide you want to create your own "magic blend" then this is the place to do it. For a custom winery, the flavors are delightful and the customer service can't be beat! read more

Just stopped by today for the first time to pick up two bottles of wine with personalized labels. I sent a picture that I wanted on the label ahead of time, and when I got there, Jenny, one of the employees, was already working on it! I sampled 5-6 wines once I had told them my likes/dislikes, and they were all very yummy!! I am very excited about the prospect of these wines not giving you much of a hangover because they have less sulfides as well. We shall see! Great laid-back tasting room. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Prices are reasonable and tasting is free. You can even make your own wine and that gets you 28-30 bottles. Will have to try that another time. Highly recommend this place! Only downside, no Texas wines. But all their wines are made on-site with grapes from various vineyards. read more

Love, love, love Water 2 Wine. Boyfriend and I went for a wine tasting through Groupon, and joined the wine club before we left. We just had his birthday party there and had a FANTASTIC TIME. Unlimited wine tasting is wonderful - all of our friends enjoyed it as well. When you rent out the space, you get to bring in all of your own food, and the staff hangs out to dole out the wine. Jenny, as always, was incredibly personable and helpful in finding wines that people would like based on their preferences. I love this place, and can't wait to make our own batch soon! read more

I went in tonight to order custom labeled wine for my nephew's wedding, I expected it would take a week or more. Wow! They created the label on the spot while I sipped on my free wine. We came here to check out a musician that played on Wednesday nights. We LOVED the sample set up ($1 each - first 5 free) and the very large number varieties included. They also all tasted fresh (some wine bars seem to have overly cold or stale wines, not here). The staff was super friendly, and the place was full but not packed. The lack of sulfites definitely changed the flavor of these wines (for the better) A little upset that we live down south and this is up north. I'd recommend stopping by. Only negative is that they closed at 8pm the day we went (Wednesday). Get there early, I guess. read more

I opened a bottle of the Chateauneuf du Pape from Water2Wine. As we neared the end, this dark chunky crud started to pour out. Disgusting.

I was first introduced to Water 2 Wine in July 2010 and immediately fell in love with this place and signed up for a membership!!! Their wines are only for sale in Texas, so they have much less sulfites and chemicals (I think it's like 15xs less) in them than what you would get in your local grocery or liquor store. Which is awesome, because I don't get a headache and that dried out feeling the next morning. And they are some of the best tasting wines I've had. In fact, I haven't bought a bottle of wine in the grocery store since I became a member!! One of my other favorite things is the custom batches with your own label. I made one for my parents' 40th wedding anniversary and then a friend and I bottled another recently for ourselves. Both batches yielded about 29 1/2 bottles. And they make great gifts! My friend put a Christmas label on hers and gave them as gifts. I'm not that nice - I kept mine for myself. As far as the atmosphere, it's my favorite new spot to go relax after work. It's not at all pretentious and is decorated very tastefully (you can also rent it for parties if you are a member). And they have really cute wine accessories in the retail shop. So far, I have bought 4 floozies (fur trimmed koozies for your wine glass), two handpainted wine glasses and a pewter wine bottle stopper. They also have special events from time to time likie movie night and Pinots and Pampering which is basically a ladies night out - and SO MUCH FUN! Now for the staff...I've been a part time manager in retail for 10 years and my fulltime job is in marketing. I can tell you that these guys have customer service down to a science. Every time I go in, they know my name and my wines, which is pretty darn good considering up until recently I was only going in once or twice a month. It's like being Norm on Cheers. I always know they are going to brighten my spirits when I've had "one of those days". Jenny, John, Chris and Sheri are all great!! And I've brought friends and family to the winery who also greatly enjoyed their personalities to the point where they ask how they are doing. I can't say enough great things about Water 2 Wine! Water2Wine is like the Cheers of Wine establishments in Central (formerly known as North) Austin. Everybody actually does know your name. When you walk in, everyone is warm and welcoming...to a fault. Because one of it's strongest draws is that it's a wine club, but without pretense and without claim to anything other than being a place one can go to enjoy hearty conversation in a friendly atmosphere among folks who would sooner cut themselves than judge you. Water2Wine is a fine establishment. I have been a wine club member for several years now and will continue to be so for many more simply because it's a genuinely Austin experience...welcoming, authentic and warm. This review is for the Round Rock location, as it is not yet listed on Yelp. Hooray for Water2Wine! We attended for the wine tastings and loved the atmosphere and knowledgeable and friendly staff. The five free samples along with their BYO-snacks was great, you can get great sushi at Sushi Nini across the street and bring it in to enjoy with your wine samples. We decided to make and bottle our own wines as a wedding gift for the wedding party and parents. We picked a Quartet Syrah batch and had a great time making our wine. We came back 45-days later and bottled it along with our own custom wedding labels. They were a HUGE hit at the wedding, with everyone wanting a botle with each label. The bill came to about $440 for 29 1/2 bottles of great vino that would have run about $38 a bottle retail. We are already planning on going back to make a batch of white wine for the late summer and perhaps another batch of red for a unique Christmas gift. read more

My fiance and I, along with a couple of friends, used our Groupon here and spent a very fun and interesting afternoon. The wines were delicious but what makes this little winery so wonderful are the people who work here. They are very friendly and down to earth. The wine tasting instructor (I think her name was Sherry) was delightful. We came in during the holiday season and on a saturday, which seemed a bit busy in the beginning, so she did seem very "caffeinated" and a bit flustered at first but Sherry's energy added to the experience. We enjoyed ourselves because we felt like we could kid around and just have fun learning about how to taste different wines. She also didn't make me feel silly when I got all the pairings wrong. I stumbled upon this place while visiting the old Grapevine Market. When I walked in, the first person that spoke to me was Jenny, the manager. She knew I was a "first timer" and made the experience exceptionally comfortable for me. She talked about all of the wines they have, where the grapes come from, how they make the wine and they won't give you a headache (YEAH)! I kept coming back for that same kind of service. Five years later and I'm still coming back week after week. The customer service from the entire staff is AWESOME. The wines are AWESOME. The music is AWESOME on the third Saturday of each month. We initially used a Groupon for a wine class and tasting and loved it so much we bought another Groupon for six months of wine club, and we are loving that even more, Our server was the same woman disliked so much by Krupa R-bu we had a totally different experience. she was friendly, casual, really enthusiastic about the product she was selling and obviously really liked the wines herself She really wanted us to enjoy the experience and tried hard to listen to what we liked and offer appropriate suggestions based on what she heard us say. The wine class was super fun and informative-they paired wine with chocolate or cheese and we experienced liking wines we'd previously not enjoyed-we aren't that sophisticated about wines, obviously. We loved the generosity of unlimited wine tasting, and the fact that we told her when to stop was a great turn around from the many experiences we've had in California, Fredericksburgh, Seattle and other wineries where we spent $5-10 for 5-6 wines. Best of all, we LOVE their wines, nearly all of them, which is so highly unusual for us, we are still baffled. Usually we struggle to find 1 or 2 from each winery we really feel motivated to buy. And if you buy a six pack you get a 20% discount. Thus, including tax, we paid an average of $12/bottle for far better wine than we have been buying at Costco or randall's -and even with their discounts, including tax we were paying an average of about $11 a bottle for inferior wines. So all in all, we can't recommend this place enough. Can't wait to bottle our own and plan to have a party there using our wine clud $100 discount. read more

i threw a bachelorette party for my soon-to-be sister-in-law this past friday at this location. i've been to the south location once before, and i enjoyed it, but it was nothing like the experience we had here! i spoke to sherri on the phone to get the reservation set-up and details of what to expect and she was very nice and answered all of my questions, even though i could hear in the background that she had other customers in the store she was also helping. when we all arrived for the tasting, sherri was there and helped all of us find the wine(s) we preferred, dry, sweet, red, white, etc. there was another girl that helped, i'm so sorry i can't remember your name, who was just as friendly and eager to help. i took in snacks for the ladies and also a couple of bachelorette games, including pin the veil on the bride, which i was allowed to tape to the wall and spin my girls around before letting them pin their veils, which i'm glad wasn't a nuisance to the staff or the other customers because we had fun with it! i also took advantage of the custom label option as prizes the game winners and a token for the bride-to-be. jenni, the manager, even re-sealed the bottles with pink plastic to match the label and bachelorette theme. my only complaint, truly, was that i was not given the option to add a tip to my bill. the level of service and fun that the entire staff provided was amazing! the wines were tasty and fresh and free-flowing, for the hour tasting i paid for anyhow :) but even after that, we had a little time to get a full glass if we wanted. i highly recommend water 2 wine, especially this location, but any of them really for a low-key bachelorette party, a birthday party, anniversary, date night, or just any ol' tuesday for that matter. thank you again sherri, jenni, and the one whose name i forgot (so sorry!!) you were all awesome! read more
