How are they still in business? It's no wonder why they have a 1 star rating. I scheduled a bulk pickup 12/1. The earliest day I could get was 12/17. I had to pay in advance. They never picked it up. I called back to find out what happened. No explanation. I had to reschedule. They rescheduled it for 12/23. Again, they never showed up. No explanation. They said they'd pick up 12/26. Once again, a no-show. Lots of apologies, but no explanation. Now they were supposed to come today, 12/31. You guessed it, still no pick up. I called several times today and each time, I was GUARANTEED it would be picked up by 2:30 pm and I would receive a call back to CONFIRM it had been picked up. It's after 5pm. No pickup and no call back. Of course, with the holiday, they're now closed until January 2nd. In the meantime, I've had a mattress and bed frame sitting on the curb for a MONTH! I've moved, and the guy who lives there was kind enough to drag the stuff back to the garage, then BACK TO THE CURB! Just so it wouldn't get covered with snow and ice! He was concerned if it was, they may not pick it up. But they never showed up ANYWAY! He wants the stuff GONE! He even made several calls to them today, and got the same runaround. The neighbors are annoyed and complaining because the house has had junk at the curb for a MONTH and someone added to it, as if it was some sort of community DUMPSTER! Enough is enough. For starters they just took one of of our trash cans with no notice after dropping off their trash can. But we have a need for two cans and you just took ours that we bought. What are we supposed to do when they skip us again for a week? I'm not having another can stolen. The service is never dependable. If we could get another can dropped off that would be great. Waste Management is a waste of time and money. We've had our recycling missed so many times that we now no longer recycle! 6 to 8 weeks of fighting in between pick ups and this happens over and over. Terrible service and I have only been using them for three weeks. First week they missed our house. Second week they picked up later in the morning. Third week they picked up early in the morning before I was up. I explained that we have a bear so I can't leave my garbage out over night and they told my wife they would make a return run for 115 dollars. I would look elsewhere for garbage service. The money saved has not been worth the stress. UPDATE: My wife called customer service concerning the poor service we have received thus far. The customer service representative was rude and dismissive of our concerns regarding our bill going up with no notification and the missed pick ups. We had a problem after we paid, they never dropped off cans then told me I did not have an account even tho they took our money. Cancelled our card and re ordered 4 weeks ago, they have been late for 3 weeks, I understand weather but they haven't even notified us and we are set up for email and text alerts. We have been with Waste Management for years. We've negotiated and re-negotiated our rates through the years. Our bill went up over 100%. They jack up the bill after one cycle. You have to call and negotiate every cycle. When you cancel they won't refund you your remaining months. I literally JUST got billed for next quarter and they won't refund me even though we haven't started service for this quarter. THIS is why you have majority one star reviews. I'm SO angry with Waste Management! Bulk item pickup. Our neighborhood, Lenape Village by Giant in New Britain, makes us all use the same trash provider. Advanced Waste got bought out by Waste Management. We've had both companies over the years and have ALWAYS been allowed ONE free bulk item per week as long as we call in advance. I called today and they want $29 per item per week or a bulk rate of almost $100 for the items I was going to siphon out over 4 weeks (dresser, bed, carpet remnants). RIDICULOUS! I have never hung up with a company in my life. I was so disgusted with their response after waiting for 45 minutes (35+ on hold) to complete the full call. read more

Used them for a few years until they: - started adding some arbitrary fees and charges (Recyclable Material Offset, Fuel / Environmental Charge, Regulatory Cost Recovery Charge, Energy Surcharge) which sometimes were getting close to 50% of the bill - raised the 96 Gallon Toter charge by 225% (!!!) within just 6 month - switched recycling from weekly to once every two weeks I cancelled after receiving another bill for the FUTURE period. They send me a bill for removal of the toter, which included a PARTIAL credit for the FUTURE period bill. They PARTIALLY credited the Recycle Material Offset and Energy Surcharge fees for the FUTURE period even though I cancelled before! And on top of that, they applied the credit from the cancelled FUTURE service to the removal of the toter, leaving the balance from the bill for the FUTURE period pending. So, after I paid that, they sent me another bill for the late fee! We tried to find out why we need to pay for the services we did not receive, they response was basically "pay or we send it to collection". Yeah. HORRIBLE! STAY AWAY! read more

I am furious! WM was "ok" in the beginning, then started marking "service completed" when it had not been. Had to call 3 different weeks - in a row- to say 'service was not completed'. They did not come another day, just had me on next scheduled pick up. 3 weeks of trash piling up!! Found out from neighbors that's why they had switched companies. I called their provider (Whitetail) HALF the cost of WM/quarter!! So I canceled (finishing out the quarter to not have cancelation fee). What happened? Raised prices dramatically (after using them since they took over Gorsky) and then charged a $75 fee to remove the cans when I cancelled service due to the increase. If you call you get a hold time of over an hour! I had someone call back who told me they would "discount" the removal fee. Bulk pickup policy was changed without any notification to customers. I had a refrigerator to dispose of, apparently the policy changed 10/27/2022. Had I been aware a change was coming, I would have called a month ago. No notice, no action, no help.......just we're sorry, I guess we're at an impasse. I have been a customer for 22 years, and this is how I'm treated. If a policy is to be changed, notice should be given prior to implementation. Also, service is unreliable. I have spoken to numerous supervisors, being reassured that my trash will be certainly picked up today just to be followed by an email saying your trash will be collected on the next business day. I've called numerous times, spoke to supervisors, left my trash can out there for a whole week. And then When I call they tell me that is says my trash can was not put out. Every week! They are side by side and only recycling gets taken. Why am I paying for a service that's not being completed? And why am I not getting compensated for all the times they don't pick it up. This incident took place on June 10, 2019 at exactly 11:20am whilst driving on E. Hancock Street and Jefferson Street in Lansdale, PA. While the traffic was moving and I had just turned onto E. Hancock St. and caught up to the traffic flow, a Waste Management collection truck with one of the overhanging metal containers proceeded to cut directly in front of my vehicle. I had to quickly slam the brakes on even though I was only traveling at 23mph. I had to quickly reverse my vehicle and in doing so, as the truck driver rounded my vehicle he blows the truck's airhorn, and flips me the middle finger. This is not the first time I've had run-ins with WM trash collection services. Having had their services before as both a residential property, as well as a commercial property, they have failed to make pickups, have I suspect out of spite or entitlement, simply refused to collect certain disposed of items, (ex. cardboard boxes), and have blatantly ceased collection and not given me any notification as to when they would make the next pickup. These particular truck drivers of Waste Management act as self-entitled bullies of the road now. They use their oversized trucks to cut out into the normal flow of traffic, while assuming that the small, sedan or SUV is going to give them the right-of-way. F+ for Waste Management. They best do what Republic Trash Services are doing, forget residential collection, go and just collect commercial. read more

I originally signed up with WM as their $69 per quarter was the best pricing available. Since then, their prices have almost doubled and their service is unreliable at best. I have had numerous missed pickups that required my follow up with their office. They usually do pickup a missed pickup on the next scheduled business day. Three weeks ago I watched a driver in an older hopper type truck, dump both my refuse and my recycling into the same hopper. I called the company to complain and they told me that the driver was wrong and that the problem would be addressed. Since then , my recyclables have not been picked up for two weeks. The container still sits at the curb, full. I had reported the missed pickups and was advised that they would be picked up the next business day. This never happened. I went to their website and got into my account and saw that they list that my refuse and recycling were picked up at the exact same times, two weeks in a row. Someone is lying. read more

They are unwilling to show how they base their fuel/environmental charges which are higher than the base fee. They also tack on multiple other fees. They are dishonest. Frequently misses pick ups and won't reschedule. You just have to wait for the next weekly. Does not credit accounts for missed pickups. Charges quarterly and will not refund the balance if you move before the end of the quarter. Will not schedule a pickup of receptacle if you move, you have to leave it on the curb until they get around to it. Long wait times to talk to an actual person. Will only use WM as an "only" resort in the future. read more
