This place is very beautiful and is a retiree's paradise. They have three places to get food, many activities and there are plenty of different apartments to choose from. The price is reasonable (a bit high but better than closer to Fairfax). The nicest thing about it is that you can go from independent care to assisted living without paying any more money (you pay for it up front and your allotted food money gets lower); allowing for a more worry-free living. If you (or someone you know) is looking for a place like this, I suggest reserving a tour for this place. You can wait list yourself many years in advance of retiring as well or becoming of age to be enrolled (you must be 64 in order to be enrolled - there trying to move it to 60 though, however). There is a grocery store close by (Martin's) as well as a Wal-Mart in which case they have shuttle service once a week.

So, I've spent a good amount of time here. I can say that it is the best place that she has lived since leaving her house. They have lots of activities and get her to her doctor appointments any day/time that she schedules them. They have good food, a pool, gym, library, theater, conference rooms, and other features that give my grandmother plenty to do. I particularly enjoy the wooded trails that surround the complex. The proximity to the hospital and numerous doctor's offices is also a big plus. Having been through a number of assisted living places in the past, I would say that this one is of very high caliber.

The headliner was The Pat Travers Band and they rocked some great blues. The Ori Naftaly Band from Israel and the Skyla Burrell Blues Band were my favorites. This was the 14th year and the weather could not have been any better. There was a nice cloud cover but the rain held off and the temps stayed around the mid-80's. Lot's of food vendors as well as other corporate sponsors/vendors marketing their products. They could have done better by having the beverage tents scattered around the area rather than in just one spot. It would have also been nice to have a choice other than just two lite beers. There were only five Port O Johns which made the lines long and the waits even longer. At $10 bucks for an advance ticket though, it's a good value for a good cause and some great Blues.

Visited there for the first time this past weekend. They had a very aggressive dog that almost bit…read moreme. Fortunately it was caged, but within the adoptable dog area. If I had not pulled my fingers out of the fence it would have bit me. It continuously jumped aggressively on the door, barking, showing its teeth and trying to bite us I have supported shelters for decades to include working and doing animal assessments there. I know this dog is not safe, if it had bit my child I would probably sued the shelter. I told the lady working the front desk about the incident. She showed no care nor concern about us or our safety. She just said that the dog is not like when outside of the cage. So she and the shelter is aware of the issue and choose not to deal with it. Their irresponsibility and lack of care for the dog and public safety is egregious I strongly suggest not supporting this shelter until they correct this issue, and to report any other similar incidents that you encounter there.

I asked when the bidding ends and specified Saturday when the store opens or close. was told by the store associate when the store close. they even got a calendar and checked for the 7 day bid time. Saturday morning I drive from Berkeley Springs to Winchester to find out the bidding ended that morning. I had no other reason to drive to Winchester other than to put in a bid. I left and then decided to call back and speak to the manage. The associate Vicky who I spoke with did her best to resolve this proble. Well unfortunately the manager nor Vicky couldn't/wouldn't do anything to resolve this in some fas or anothe. Well I have been a customer at the stores in Winchester for almost 15 years now going both stores every week at some point and time. Well unfortunately for them no mor. untrained associates and poor customer service I do not care for as I deal with customers and vendors every day and I can and will make a situation right so I don't take a chance of losing a customer and/or a vendor.
