This is a seasonal must go to every year. Multiple choices of apples, pumpkins, squash, fun atmosphere can be found at this old fashioned U pick fruit farm. Super long lines for the heavenly donuts can be avoided by going there on weekdays when they have a broader selection to choose from. Be sure to check out their Facebook page for times fruit available and when they are open.

Awesome family farm, and right now they have u pick (sour/tart/pie) cherries (next day is July 7 as of now per their site). See their website for details, and do bring a basket or light bucket. I had never picked cherries before, and it was a great time. Many were edible off the tree, and not too sour, even though they are NOT SWEET CHERRIES. They also have ladders for you to use to get the ones that are higher up. If you want to get some steps in /exercise, park by the building at the front. If you have small children, or people who don't want to walk 10-15 min, you might want to park closer to the cherry trees.

Wasem's is a solid option if you're looking to get some cider and donuts near Ann Arbor! I stopped by one weekend and found that it's a nice little spot for hanging out, and they're really doing their best during this pandemic season. For 2020, you-pick apples aren't available, but they do still offer all of the standard commodities you'd expect, inside the building. The pumpkin patch is still open, and you'll likely find a bunch of young families hanging out there. Wasem's is good about having clear directions for people to follow as they move through the building (to pick up cider, apples, donuts, etc.), and they're enforcing mask wearing and social distancing inside the building as well. The one downside about this location is that there is almost no outdoor seating (sitting on the grass is certainly an option), and I've seen cider mills that are offering distanced picnic benches, etc. The cider and donuts taste great so it's a good value overall!

Wasem fruit farm was all that I had hoped it to be. I was looking for a small place just to pick apples from my apple butter, pick up some cider and donuts, and avoid the hordes of people that normally crowd cider mills in November. This place was really no frills, just a handwritten list with things crossed off that you were able to pick. You go in to purchase a bag for $0.50 and then find your way to the Orchards to pick your apples. The half a bushel we got today was $12 since it was the end of season but from the hand-written list it looks like they're normally around 16. The orchard itself was pretty small but we were able to pick half a bushel in about 30 minutes while taking time to goof around and of course eat a few apples. I think we ate about 4 apples my favorite being the Granny Smith. The reviews talked about having the best donuts and I think I have to agree. We got a dozen donuts for $9 and I wish I had bought one more. Unlike other cider mills that restrict you 2 Apple donuts and plain Donuts they had multiple varieties. With pumpkin Donuts you can choose from plain, sugared or glazed, you get your choice with blueberry, plain, sugared or glazed and the same pattern follows for the Apple Donuts they also have plain Donuts as well for the non adventurous. I'm happy to report back that they say they're open in the winter time on Fridays with cider and donuts and you better believe that we will be back. $7 a gallon for apple cider is a pretty good deal to when you're paying $10 at most other places around.

Beautiful apples and deeelicious donuts! Wasn't overly crowded, and the ladies who worked there let us know they were short staffed but still helped us with what we needed!

What a fun place to visit! While I think it is a must-do for families, I can see it also being fun for just about anyone. The ground is pretty level throughout so there is easy, safe access to everything and even those not so steady on their feet should feel comfortable being outdoors here. Don't fret about the line in front of the building, unless you want donuts (but who doesn't want donuts! and these are awesome!). If u came to pick (this is a u-pick farm), then you can walk right up to the register and buy a bag and get the spiel about which rows to pick from, what varieties are available and what to avoid. The bag is mandatory, that's how they set the price for the apples. 50 cents for a bag. $16 to fill it. Tip: bring some plastic bags and a marker to segregate the apples you pick by variety. Believe it or not, when they all get mixed together, a Macintosh looks just like an Empire to a novice! I don't know much about u-pick prices so the price may seem a little expensive to some, but here's how we looked at it: There was no parking fee, we could stay as long as we wanted, the kids had plenty of room to run and explore nature on a beautiful fall day and we got way more than $16 worth of cool family photo ops! Tip: wear something red. Against the apples hanging in the trees, this could be your next Christmas card pic! We saw a couple of kids in red shirts and overalls being photographed in a tree. Kodak moment! We snapped a picture of a little one in our group sitting on a crate that said "Macintosh" at the end of the row. Too cute! I told her she was the apple of my eye, but she didn't get it!

I had never been cherry picking before so I wasn't sure what to expect but I had best time! They make everything very simple for you and easy to follow. You check in at the building and then they give you some buckets. Thy tell you what areas are available for picking and you drive your car down into the farm (follow the signs)! They already had ladders out so you could pick cherries from the top of the trees, or the bottom if you prefer. It's so relaxing! My friend and I had a great time. When you are finished you weigh your fruit and pay. Btw they also sell extra delicious donuts! It's official...I'll be cherry picking every year!

In Ann Arbor, I bought precocious-looking jams and jellies from Wasem (they were handmade). It turned out; they were delicious! This farm is seasonal, hard to find; but Wasem Farm packs lots fruit goodness. Rebel's review: 4

There's nothing like fall donuts in Michigan. Wasem fruit farm serves their donuts hot out of the donut machine with sugar or glaze, could not ask for a better donut... Come with your family and pick some apples or pumpkins and enjoy the scenery great local apple orchard for anyone interested. Super friendly staff, they can get busy so bring some patience and waiting in Lonnie for some hot off the press deliciousness.

A great fruit farm and orchard that is just that. They don't try to be everything all at once -- no distracting haunted houses or sideshows. I don't mind that I can't get fudge or wine or a bunch of other things that seem to be edging their way into the cider mill experience. In fact, I found it really refreshing that Wasem's seems to stick with the basics -- great apples, including the option to U-Pick! Plenty of cider, some popcorn, pumpkins. And donuts. Oh, maaaan, donuts! You can watch a whole team of ladies makin' these donuts as you stand in line. Pumpkin, blueberry, apple cider and plain -- in a variety of glazes, or with cinnamon and sugar. You can even ask them to powder-up your donuts too (though I don't know if you really need that!). The building is nice and simple -- with sweet fruit-themed decorations painted on cinder blocks -- totally charming. Sure, there may be a line to get your goodies, but it's nowhere near as long as some places, and I can pretty much guarantee some great kid/dog/general people-watching! When we were there, a little boy who was all hopped up on sugar donuts kept running around trying to karate-chop a spider!

However, this year they…read moreweren't open for picking so, craving the best part of a Michigan summer, I went to Yelp and searched and found Honey Bee. AND it was SO close to my house! I immediately went to their website and was thrilled to find out that they were currently offering picking from 10-7pm pretty much every day of the week. Hooray! So, this past weekend, I made my way over there. Long story short, I had a great experience! They have 12 varieties of strawberries that vary in size, ripening rates, and levels of sweetness. U-pick stretches out in rows over 3 acres so they've got alotta strawberries, my friends! The person running the u-pick explained that the strawberries in the rows next to the barn were bigger but more tart and the rows further from the barn were smaller but sweeter. I picked a little from both and in the end wish I had stuck to the smaller but sweeter, though they were all delicious! I just happen to have more of a sweet tooth. Despite the heat I managed to pick a full bucket, just under 6lbs. Berries are priced at $6lb and they do not take credit but you can pay via mobile with their venmo or paypal. They also take cash and checks. A few logistical things: the u-pick farm is owned and operated by local farmer's market mainstay, Tantre Farms. It's a no spray/pesticide free farm which means there are some weeds and tall grasses around. Some of the weeds are spikey thistle. They're easy to avoid but, because most people avoid them, I found a plethora of beautiful ripe berries around them. So it might not hurt to bring some gloves if you're like me and don't mind working a little harder for the good stuff. And because it can get muddy and there are other weeds and things in the rows wearing comfortable, close-toed shoes (that you don't mind getting dirty) are recommended. My only quibble is that I wish the containers for picking were the cardboard flats and not the plastic buckets with bags. The plastic bags don't allow for the air circulation you need to keep them fresher longer and in transferring them to another container I found I had smushed more than a few. Also, piling them all into the bucket puts weight on the ones at the bottom of the bucket/bag so they're smushed there, too. A small quibble but one they'll consider having the flats as an option. But of course if you're buying a large volume for jam making they're all gonna get smushed anyway sooooo.... Anyway, I'm not sure how much longer they have left in the season so if you're reading this around the time that it was posted I'd check their website for picking updates. They also offer raspberry picking so if you miss your strawberry window you might be able to scoop some of those up instead!

It's right on the border of Dexter/Chelsea and is just big enough to make picking SUPER easy but not so big that you need to spend a ton of time here. I think we were in and out in about 30-40 minutes at most, and we filled a whole flat with delicious berries. They're only open during picking season so check their facebook page for daily updates on picking quality and hours. When you arrive, check in with the owners and they'll give you a box with containers and an empty milk jug to tie around your waist for easy two handed picking. Then dig in! There are several rows of different berry varieties, including red raspberries, black raspberries, and golden raspberries. You'll know they're ripe when they're a deep color and pull right off the bush. The bushes, especially blackberries, are a bit spiky so be careful! I didn't bring gloves because I find them a bit cumbersome so I did get poked a couple of times but nothing major. When you're done, head back to the garage with your tray and they'll tally up your berries. Currently it's $2.50 per pint. Cash or check only. Brought home the berries and they were SO good. They really lasted a long time too. It's been over a week and I've still be throwing them in my yogurt every morning. Baked up beautifully in some breakfast bars too.
